I had one communion minister (my former high school principal from many years ago) refuse to minister communion on my tongue, so I embarrassingly had to go sit down without received the host.i had a meeting with our parish priest about it and he was 100% in my corner (he is Filipino and at the Filipino Mass Sunday night's more parishioners than not receive communion ok n theur tongues). So it got straightened out, and I'm assuming Fr. Carlos met with my former principal and gave him a talking to,because even he gives me communion 9n my tongue now. The incident was pretty distressing especi ally as I had a goid medical reason and I didntwant to drop the Holy Sacrament again). But this goes to show how diwn right hostile some folks are to the idea. Fr. Carlos told me that anyone for any reason should be able to receive the Eucharist that way and intimated that he's gotten a lot if pushback in general from active members of the parish (including the parish council) for him cracking down (thankfully) from practices going on that aren't inline with the GIRM e.g. the band on Saturday night had gotten so off their intended duties that the music ministry had become more about performing than worshipping (extended drum solos were not unusual). He also to my gratitude stopped the practice of holding hands during the Our Father (which he specifically explained was not allowed at several Masses though some folks are still refusung to obey him and keep holding hands.

Our parish went a ling time without a priest because of shortages and the woman who filled in was teaching heretical things such as the Churchs belief in the true presence was a medieval invention (!).

Attendance was very low and we were habing to consider amalgamation with the other parush in Moose Jaw, but the huge influx of Filipinos contemporary work visas to Canada has saved us. The pews are filled again for the first time in decades, and worship has become joyous while still cracking down on illegitimate practices that have been going on for many years. It has been a huge blessing for the Catholic community here!Jason R.https://www.blogger.com/profile/08096932934041161725noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6767475475753279918.post-22958562662201788322018-04-18T21:41:50.255+01:002018-04-18T21:41:50.255+01:00

Communion in the tongue seems traditional to the modern Catholic, but there was a time when Christians did not have this discipline. It’s not part of apostolic tradition as many traditionalists/Latin mass lovers sometimes rhetorically seem to imply. If the Church permits it, it cannot be offensive to God, and if doesn’t offend God, why bind others to it, when only the hierarchy have that authority?

And I say this as someone who takes by the tongueTh9masnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6767475475753279918.post-74238414627422780012018-04-18T18:54:53.236+01:002018-04-18T18:54:53.236+01:00It seems to me that the Third Temple won't be ...It seems to me that the Third Temple won't be rebuilt until the Ark of the Covenant has been found, since that's what made the Holy of Holies so Holy, and why the Orthodox avoid the possibility of walking on it. That would be like throwing the Sacred Host on the floor and stepping on it... which, incidentally, is one of the things that makes Communion in the hand problematic. Someone, I don't remember who, conducted an experiment in his home. He set a dark-colored cloth on the floor and obtained about a hundred unconsecrated hosts, then simulated distributing it into the hand of a partner. When they were done, they found hundreds of tiny particles on that cloth, particles that would not be visible on a bare floor or on the light-colored carpets used in most churches these days. After all, such inadvertently dropped particles are precisely why, before Communion in the hand was permitted, an altar boy accompanied the priest, holding a paten under the chin of the communicant while the priest placed the Host on the tongue.JMCnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6767475475753279918.post-39052205703197888372018-04-17T23:53:28.317+01:002018-04-17T23:53:28.317+01:00Thanks Chris, and Thomas, too.... the fact (and I ...Thanks Chris, and Thomas, too.... the fact (and I know ancient reporting tends to stretch the truth quite often to an extent) that the last time someone seriously tried building the 3rd Temple and construction was stopped by "fireballs raining down" on the workmen (or alternatively a possible and extremely coincidental earthquake according to the geological record) must give amyone interested in attempting the same pause for thought, especially when the builder was arguably the most powerful person (Emperor Julian) on Earth at the time and even he knew when he was beat.

I'll that kind of begs the question that if indeed Our Lord won't let the Temple be rebuilt until it's His time, how would one know when that right time is (if ever again if biblical references to it are metaphors)? I've never verified whether that is true, but I'm guessing you might know one way or another if that is true Chris. If it is, how does that play into the potential of building of a third Temple on its original location?

I'm almost sure I remember Emmett covering this in his book, but in my hasty move both the new edition of the book (and my notes I was working on to list any little errors in grammar or spelling) got lost in the shuffle (I didn't lose them in a permanent sense, but they are in one out of about 40 crates I haven't unpacked almost to the rafters in my garage!).

But anyways, if this prohibition I was told about *is* true, would the Jewish people have to wait until the Temple Mount is cleared via a natural way (or even supernatural way, like maybe the eschatological great earthquake in Jerusalem will destroy the Dome of the Rock and the Al-Aqsa mosque?).

I also seem to recall something about Antichrist maybe building the 3rd Temple after he deceives the people of Israel into accepting his fraud as their Messiah, but again, I might be getting confused on that point as well.

One other last thing, I remember reading at that there would have to be some way of knowing precisely where on the Temple Mount the Holy of Holies was located before anyone would be able to build it properly, and that uncertainty is why some of the Orthodox sects won't step foot up there because of the chance of accidentally walking in the area of the Holy of Holies which they'd consider extremely sacrilegious.

Have there been any breakthroughs on that front, like maybe ground-penetrating radar could help, or that the rock in the dome named after it (especially if it's true that that rock is where Our Father built the rest of the universe from, and/or it's also where Abraham came so close to sacrificing his own son upon) is where the Holy of Holies is?

Sorry to grill you Chris with all the questions, I just know you're well-read on this subject. If anyone else might kniw some if the answers, please jump in also! Evolution seems to be a genetic algorithm to optimize some parameter. Although I don't think that there is any direct evidence (though lots of circumstantial evidence) for it, evolution points to an intelligent designer. Hollywood must have gotten its inspiration from somewhere. Given the fact that the so-called "fossil" of Java Man was proven to be a hoax at least twenty years ago, I suspect you're right in that the about-face was due to the fact that the existing facts didn't fit the desired agenda...which, at the time, was probably the promotion of Darwin's theory of evolution.
.
I find it telling that the Catholic Church *allows* us to believe in an evolution that was guided by the hand of God (what the modern press refers to as "intelligent design"), but says nothing more about it. Personally, I've always believed in that particular theory of evolution...but I draw the line at man and primates having a common ancestor. If that were the case, there would still be scraps of ancient legends about a primate that didn't fit into his "animal" heritage, left his primate community, and turned out to be the first man. There's no shortage of legends about human infants being raised by animals (Romulus and Remus, for example), but nowhere are there any that claim that the first man was born of one. So no, man did not "evolve" from animals. He sprang from the hand of God, singular and unique. I will allow that he may have evolved over time after that point; there's enough evidence that man has been growing taller over time. I've seen genuine suits of armor in museums; they would have fit me, and I'm only a little over five feet tall. ;DJMCnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6767475475753279918.post-74472760599518697702018-04-14T04:48:36.726+01:002018-04-14T04:48:36.726+01:00Russia will retaliate for tonight's airstrikes...Russia will retaliate for tonight's airstrikes. Example, I had never heard about the indefectibility of the Pope. and he explained the concept. Then Emmett touched on the subject. He explained the why's and when for me and I thought he was humorous. I was saddened by his death.

He helped me think of different ways to understand something. Such as the secret and the story behind the council in regards to legality and past papal rulings.chrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04605423400109179467noreply@blogger.com
