The Prophecies of St. Patrick

The collective burial ground of St. Patrick, St. Colmcille and St. Brigid, in Downpatrick, Northern Ireland

In light of the impending publication of Sr Lucia's biography, A Pathway Under the Gaze of Mary, I thought it would be timely to revisit some earlier material posted on this blog about the prophecies of St. Patrick, which also seems to tie into the events seen by the last visionary of Fatima at Tuy, 1944, when she was instructed by Our Lady to write down the contents of the Third Secret. As is by now widely known by readers of this blog, Sr Lucia witnessed a devastating tsunami type event during this vision, which appears to be a prelude to the final passover of the Church detailed in the Third Secret, which describes the martyrdom of a pope followed by clergy, religious and laity, in what can only be the final persecution of Christians under the Antichrist. It seems that the content of the 1944 Tuy apparition is in some way related to the interpretation of the secret itself, which Our Lady had order Sr. Lucia not to commit to writing at the same time as the Third Secret:

"...be at peace and write what they command you to, but not that which you were given to understand about its meaning,’ intending to allude to the meaning of the vision that the Virgin herself had revealed to her."

If this 1944 Tuy apparition is in some way related to the content of the Third Secret itself, then we are prompted to compare the unifying motifs which are found in both visions - that of the description of the dazzling light of God:

‘I felt my spirit flooded by a light-filled mystery which is God and in Him I saw and heard: the point of the flame-like lance which detaches, touches the axis of the earth and it [the earth] shakes: mountains, cities, towns and villages with their inhabitants are buried. The sea, rivers and clouds leave their bounds, they overflow, flood and drag with them into a whirlpool, houses and people in a number unable to be counted; it is the purification of the world from the sin it is immersed in. Hatred, ambition, cause destructive wars.
(The Tuy apparition of 3rd January, 1944)

And we saw in an immense light that is God: ‘something similar to how people appear in a mirror when they pass in front of it' a Bishop dressed in White ‘we had the impression that it was the Holy Father'. Other Bishops, Priests, men and women Religious going up a steep mountain, at the top of which there was a big Cross of rough-hewn trunks as of a cork-tree with the bark...
(The Third Part of the Secret of Fatima, 3rd January, 1944)

It seems that the above parallel descriptions of the dazzling light which represents the radiance of God are meant to be viewed side by side here, and is intended to provide the reader with some sort of chronological indicator as to the sequence of end time events contained in the Third Secret. In the Third Secret, we are told that the final persecution of Christians under the Antichrist follows a vision of the light of God, while in the 1944 apparition, the appearance of the radiance of God is followed by a cataclysmic tsunami event.  We are thus prompted to connect both events together, and link the tsunami seen in the 1944 vision as being in some way related to the end time persecution of Christians under the Antichrist. This sequence of events also appears in an ancient prophecy attributed to St. Patrick, which foretells the destruction of Ireland by the sea seven years before the end of the end of the world, in order to spare the Irish from the reign of the Antichrist:

These are the three prayers of Patrick, as they were delivered to us by the Hibernians, entreating that all should be received on the day of judgment, if we should repent even in the last days of our life.
That he should not be shut up in hell. That barbarian nations should never have the rule over us. That no one shall conquer us, that is the Scots, before seven years previous to the day of judgment, because seven years before the judgment we shall be destroyed in the sea, this is the third.

This prophecy can be traced back to original documents dating from the 7th century (Tirechan's untitled memoirs of St. Patrick), which are based on the The Book of Ultan - an earlier now lost source written by a disciple of Patrick himself (the full text of Tierchan's work can be found online here). The prayer that "no barbarian nations" should ever have rule over Ireland, has so far proved true in the fact that it has only ever been conquered by Christian nations. We should also note that the word "Scots" here refers to the Irish people rather than the present sense of the term. The Irish were referred to as Scoti in Latin, and Irish rule over Northern Britain during the Dark Ages gradually saw the term being transferred to that country.
This prediction of the end-time flood of Ireland is often associated with another prophecy attributed to St. Colmcille (who is also known by his Latin name St. Columba).

I concede a favour to them without exception,
and St Patrick also did concede the same;
that seven years before the last day,
the sea shall submerge Eirin by one inundation

The above prophecy is believed to be taken from a 9th century document titled Colum Cille cecinit, but so far the earliest source it can be traced back to is O'Kearney, N. The Prophecies of Ss. Columbkille, Maeltamlacht, Ultan, Seadhna, Coireall, Bearcan, Malachy, &tc (Dublin: John O’Daly, 1856) – a book which is known to contain many spurious prophecies formulated as rhetoric for the 1798 Irish rebellion. It is possible that this quatrain is based on an earlier source or tradition, such as the Leabhar Breac, but currently its origins remains untraceable. It is unlikely that the original prophecy was made by St. Colmcille, but instead may have developed from the earlier, almost certainly authentic literature concerning the life of St. Patrick.
The prophecy of Ireland being destroyed by end-time floods is intimately related to the other material in Public and private revelation which tells of an eschatological inundation, and seems to be inextricably linked to the threat posed by the collapse of the volcano Cumbre Vieja into the Atlantic ocean (see the earlier post Mega-tsunami, where I show how this event is connected with the "great mounatin, burning with fire" being thrown into the sea in Rev 8:8, as well as several other biblical passages).
As we can see from the diagram below, Ireland is one of the countries that would be most affected be a mega-tsunami generated by the collapse of the volcano Cumbre Vieja in the Canary Islands.

According to a long standing Christian prophetic tradition, the tribulation period at the end-time which sees the rise to power of the Antichrist, will last for a total of seven years. The fact that the prophecy of St. Patrick foretells that Ireland would be destroyed by the sea seven years before the last day in order to spare the Irish from the reign of the Antichrist, suggests that the Beast ascends to world domination as a direct consequence of the catastrophic flooding caused by the lateral collapse of the volcano Cumbre Vieja into the Atlantic Ocean. The Beast therefore literally emerges from the chaos of the sea:
And I saw a beast rising out of the sea, with ten horns and seven heads, with ten diadems on its horns and blasphemous names on its heads. (Rev 13:1)

Another even more obscure prophecy attributed to St. Patrick appears to foretell the previously unthinkable - a time when Ireland would lose its faith in Christ. Sadly, this prophecy pretty much describes the current state of our beautiful island, which to a large extent, is now shunning the Roman Catholic faith.  What was once before a inextricable part of Irish national identity, is now subject to the calumny of the growing anti-clericalism in the Irish media, which has now filtered out into wider society. The prophecy appears in chapter CLXXV of the vita by the Cistercian hagiographer Jocelyn of Furness (fl. 1175-1214):

The different States of Hibernia are in a Heavenly Vision
shown unto the Saint.

And the man of God anxiously desired and earnestly prayed that he might be certified of the present and the future state of Hibernia, to the end that he might be assured of the faith, or of the value that his labors bore in the sight of God. Then the Lord heard the desire of his heart, and manifested the same unto him by an evident revelation; for while he was engaged in prayer, and the heart of his mind was opened, he beheld the whole island as it were a flaming fire ascending unto heaven; and he heard the angel of God saying unto him: "Such at this time is Hibernia in the sight of the Lord." And after a little space he beheld in all parts of the island even as mountains of fire stretching unto the skies. And again after a little space he beheld as it were candles burning, and after a while darkness intervened; and then he beheld fainter lights, and at length he beheld coals lying hidden here and there, as reduced unto ashes, yet still burning. And the angel added: "What thou seest here shown, such shall be the people of Hibernia." Then the saint, exceedingly weeping, often repeated the words of the Psalmist, saying: "Whether will God turn himself away for ever, and will he be no more entreated? Shall his mercy come to an end from generation to generation? Shall God forget to be merciful, and shut up his mercy in his displeasure?" And the angel said, "Look toward the northern side, and on the right hand of a height shalt thou behold the darkness dispersed from the face of the light which thenceforth will arise." Then the saint raised his eyes, and behold, he at first saw a small light arising in Ulydia, the which a long time contended with the darkness, and at length dispersed it, and illumined with its rays the whole island. Nor ceased the light to increase and to prevail, even until it had restored to its former fiery state all Hibernia. Then was the heart of the saint filled with joy, and his heart with exultation, giving thanks for all these things which had been shown unto him: and he understood in the greatness of this fiery ardor of the Christian faith the devotion and the zeal of religion, wherewith those islanders burned. By the fiery mountains he understood the men who would be holy in their miracles and their virtues, eminent in their preachings and their examples; by the lessening of the light, the decrease of holiness; by the darkness that covered the land, the infidelity which would prevail therein; by the intervals of delay, the distances of the succeeding times. But the people think the period of darkness was that in which Gurmundus and Turgesius, heathen princes of Norwegia, conquered and ruled in Hibernia; and in those days, the saints, like coals covered with ashes, lay hidden in caves and dens from the face of the wicked, who pursued them like sheep unto the slaughter. Whence it happened that differing rites and new sacraments, which were contrary to the ecclesiastical institutes, were introduced into the church by many prelates who were ignorant of the divine law. But the light first arising from the north, and after long conflict exterminating the darkness, those people assert to be Saint Malachy, who presided first in Dunum, afterward in Ardmachia, and reduced the island unto the Christian law. On the other hand, the people of Britain ascribe this light to their coming, for that then the church seemed under their rule to be advanced unto a better state; and that then religion seemed to be planted and propagated, and the sacraments of the church and the institutes of the Christian law to be observed with more regular observance. But I propose not the end of this contention, neither do I prevent it, thinking that the discussion and the decision thereof should be left unto the divine judgment.
(See here for the full vita of St. Patrick by Jocelyn of Furness)

It is uncertain whether this prophecy was actually made by St. Patrick himself, since it does not appear in the earlier works on the saint's life. The other more well-known prophecy of St. Patrick (which foretold that Ireland would suffer from a terrible deluge seven years before the end of the world to spare the Irish from the reign of the Antichrist) is of far greater provenance. But it certainly interesting, given the current state of affairs in Ireland.
Jocelyn attempts to make sense out of the prophecy by linking it to the appearance of the Viking invaders, who ravaged the coasts of Ireland in the early Middle Ages. The light in "Ulydia" (an archaic name for Ulster) which brings about the reversal of the apostasy is rightly connected by Jocelyn to St. Malachy, who was the abbot of Bangor Abbey in the north of Ireland, just outside of Belfast (unfortunately, nothing of the original building remains of Bangor Abbey today, other than a stump of a wall in the grounds of the modern Anglican abbey). St. Malachy had ensured unity of the Church in Ireland with the Roman Catholic Church by travelling to Rome to obtain pallia for the sees of Armagh and Cashel. And in his famous account of the saint's life, St. Bernard of Clairvaux tells how St. Malachy had helped to restore the Church in Ireland, which had fallen into a terrible state of decay.

The above prophecy is based on the story of St. Patrick lighting the Paschal Fire on the Hill of Slane circa 433AD, in opposition to the pagan festival of Beltane practised by Laoghaire, the High King of Tara. This defiant action was an instrumental moment in the conversion of Ireland.
This prophecy attributed to St. Patrick also appears to be associated with the Great Apostasy foretold in Scripture, which speaks of a general falling away of Christians from the faith towards the end of the world.
To see the work of St. Patrick being reversed in such a terrible fashion is something cruel to behold for any true Irish person. But through the intercession of St. Patrick, the once fiery zeal of the Irish faithful will one day return to the shores of our beloved land, and the religion which our ancestors strived and died to protect will once again reflourish on the verdant pastures of the Emerald Isle.

Remarkable and timely. I'm sure everyone just saw this from BBC news: "Eucharistic famine fear in Ireland"

Emmett Thanks for another great article! Please keep them coming!
It is SO obvious to see the signs of our times beginning to show themselves to be even clearer now!
For those of us who (by the grace of God!) know that we have now come to the doorstep of the purification of our world and Church -- it is clear -- the signs in the sky (blood moons, eclipses) and the signs in the world ( the rise of horrifically militant islam - to the point of the beheading of children ) and now the Year of Mercy that begins at the end of this year!
All of us who know that our Lady has been with us and is with us -- to call us to prayer and holy lives -- we must make a very serious and heartfelt decision to pray even more now in these days!! Mass, Rosary, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament! Let us not look back and think " I could have, should have done more". Emmett's writings are a helpful light for us to see and then be spurred on to DO.

Emmett,
I continue to read your insightful, educational and well researched posts and they are truly gold mines of eschatology. It seems to me, after reading this last post, that there really is going to be a resurgence of the one, holy, catholic and apostolic faith--hopefully within the not too distant future. This gives me hope! But, it comes only after what seems to be a world wide chastisement. I think I'm getting this chastisement and the final "end of the world" scenarios all mixed up.

This total flooding of Ireland and devastation due to the coming tsunami of other nations--including the USA--will occur more towards the end of the world--not during the chastisement. Am I correct in my interpretation of that? And if that's the case, then what exactly is the difference between the cataclysms that occur during the chastisement and those that occur during the final end of the world?

Can you elaborate on that or do a blog posting on it? And what the period between the two will bring about for the restoration of the Church? No one of course knows all the answers to these future occurrences, but it would be helpful to see some clarification between the two and your insights into this.

Thanks for all the work you do in explaining all of this to us.

Emmett,
I agree with the post above -- can you do an article-- sometime in the next month or two (or three!) giving a possible timeline that you see falling into place - just as an idea -- but more importantly -- how you see events falling one behind the other -- (as you have alluded to in previous posts when you say you think that the great tsunami will come and then the reign of the antichrist )
I know that this will only be your thoughts on it -- and not ex cathedra - but it would be nice to see what you think regarding why things are happening and how they seem to be occurring and what may be something for us to ponder and pray over.
It is obvious we are talking about things that will occur, I think, over the next 35 years or so.
There is an author named Kelly Bowring who wrote a book now out called "The Great Battle is Unfolding" in which he uses Scripture and accepted private revelation to point out that we are just about to begin the time of awakening in the Holy Spirit and a cleansing of the Church and the world - he lays it out with actual years (which is only his take on it) --
But it is obvious that we are at the doorstep of these things -- for a few reasons -- 1) Pope Benedict mentioned Fatima a few years ago -- and made an odd sounding allusion to 2017 ( you may know of it, Emmett? )
2) the 100 year reign of Satan has to be about over which means, again, we are at the doorstep of his last hurrah before he is put away (in Medjugorje, Mary has said that when the first secret occurs it will be the beginning of the end of the time he has been given (maybe you could mention your thoughts on this in your possible -- here are all the things that seem to be falling into place-- summation/article (re his 100 yr time ? )
3) human events seem to be leading to major problems in our world - everything seems to be on edge - especially now with ISIS in the mix
4) Blood moons and an eclipse and now a Year of Mercy proclaimed by the Pope - and as you've stated from Faustina's writings that our Lord said He will come first in Mercy and then with Justice --(we are still in the time of mercy) -
Thanks again Emmett for your articles -- please keep them coming!

Thanks Rose and Michael. I'll try to do something on the potential chronology of future events in the coming months. The future tsunami event is the beginning of the chastisement, and could probably be equated with the so-called "minor chastisement" described in some private prophecies. This will bring about the rise to power of the Antichrist. The Great Chastisement is the destruction of the earth by fire at the end of the world itself.

Hi Emmet,

Superb stuff as always (I bought your book!). Thank you for another tour de force. I wonder, however, if the following might refer to an asteroid impact rather than the landslide of a flank of the Cumbre Vieja into the Atlantic:

I felt my spirit flooded by a light-filled mystery which is God and in Him I saw and heard: the point of the flame-like lance which detaches, touches the axis of the earth and it [the earth] shakes: mountains, cities, towns and villages with their inhabitants are buried.

In particular, the imagery of a flame-like lance which detaches suggests to me a point of light travelling quickly, like an asteroid burning through the atmosphere. A large enough body would release enough energy to generate a mega-tsunami capable of flooding Ireland in a single inundation, along with the Eastern US.

Your earlier post about the Cumbre Vieja erupting as the consequence of a catastrophic earthquake in Jerusalem reminded me of the last lines of St. Malachy's prophecy on the line of Popes to the end:

In the final persecution of the Holy Roman Church, there will reign Peter the Roman, who will feed his sheep during many tribulations, and when these things are finished, the city of seven hills will be destroyed and the dreadful judge will judge his people.

While the seven-hilled city is usually assumed to the be Rome, it might be Jerusalem or even Constantinople… Just a thought!

Rgds,
John.

Emmett O'Regan said...

Thanks John! Yes, I had previously considered whether or not this relates to a nuclear detonation or an asteroid impact, but subsequently ruled it out for a number of reasons. Almost every modern academic argues that this relates to a volcanic eruption.

Emmett -
I would guess then that maybe the tsunami to be connected to what would be the "warnings" from Medjugorje -- where are Lady speaks of 3 events to awaken the conscience of mankind -- which then leads to other things (and the last 3 secrets being what the 6 seers call the "chastisements" for sin).
Interesting because I believe in a very early interview, when asked about the first 3 secrets -- supposedly Mirjana (who is the one who has to reveal them to the priest she has chosen (chosen in the mid 80's by her) said that the 3 secrets in the beginning are events that happen and are over -- they are not lasting for days -- and she supposedly said something about it would be like a damn breaking and taking out towns -- she was trying to say - we should not wait for the secrets to change our lives and come back to God - we should do so now, because she said that Mary told her that the beginning secrets are for those who do not know God and those who have chosen the darkness, so that they can make a change - which the beginning secrets will apparently affect by their occurrence. If she really did say that -- it is interesting because she uses water as the sign of purification and awakening -- which connects with your belief that the tsunami occurs before the Antichrist and the final cleansing (or what could possibly be the events within the last 3 secrets) - plus it would make sense because what the 3 beginning secrets entail are apparently pretty massive. Mirjana in subsequent interviews has said that when she saw the 8th secret she asked Mary why this was coming for the world -- she was surprised that everyone would not change after the first 3 secrets occurred because of their immensity ( which of course a mega tsunami would make one think that everyone would get their act together because of it) -- but apparently that is not what happens -- there are major events ( the first 3 secrets ) which do cause a major awakening in many and many people return to God because of them -- but not everyone changes -- and events follow that lead to the final 3 secrets -- or chastisements -- and thus the full renewal of the Church and the world - which of course, many of your articles say is on the point of occurring, esp with all the signs in the sky and in our world at this time.
Looking forward to many more articles from you!
Michael Patrick

I have many friends who believe that Our Lady is appearing in Medjugorje. I don't believe in Medjugorje. I did believe for a while about 20 years ago. I have discovered that there is much disobedience on the part of the "seers". And that's a very bad sign. Remember what Jesus told St.Faustina - always do what your superiors tell you to do. That pleases me more than if you disobey them to do what I ask of you. Jesus stressed OBEDIENCE.

Emmett, what is your opinion of the validity of a fellow Irishman, Dr, Fr. Martin Malachi? He claimed, among many things, to have read the Third Secret. It is not, according to him, what we have been lead to believe.

to the commentor about medjugorje, please do a bit of homework sir.
There are books of examples of obedience to the church and just today, 3/24/15 a mistaken report of a former ruling on medjugorje is discovered.
Why can't people recognize that the catholic church is in apostasy and the devil is in terror of Mary and the' COMPLETION OF FATIMA"
Latly the BVM said "they will consecrate rurria but it will be late"
and OUR LORD told saint mary that they will follow the king of france in a reference of his death 100 years to the warning given to him. our 100 years is 0ct 13th 2017??

something is very close.

To the last commenter:

That is absolutely correct -- Our Lady of Medjugorje is coming to fulfill all that SHE HERSELF started in Fatima -- I don't know why there seems to be nonsensical competing apparitions within people (some who are all for Fatima and then think Medj takes away from the call of Fatima) Its the SAME WOMAN! OUR LADY! OUR MOTHER! Its the same call, the same rosary, the same Church that she calls us to love and pray for and live within.
And yes, as Emmett could probably very well explain much better then I, we are about to enter into the apostasy within the Church -- which will lead to her own Crucifixion (and resurrection!). Which is what we see in the 3rd secret -- the Pope, the Bishops, the faithful -- ALL ASCENDING CALAVARY FOR THE CLEANSING OF THE CHURCH --
This has obviously not happened yet -- yes, the Church went through horrific attacks and martyrdoms in the 20th century -- but it did not lead to the full renewal of the Church and the world. That is why our Lady, our Mother has come in Medjugorje, EVERY DAY, to lead us into the time of her Triumph.
We all know -- the final lines of our Lady in Fatima -- " in the end, my Immaculate Heart will triumph" - that has obviously not yet happened --
but, I think, with the blood moons and the eclipse, that God is letting us know with these "signs in the sky" that everything is now about to start that will lead us into and through Her Heart's Triumph, and thus the Reign of the Sacred Heart in the renewal of the Church and the world. But first, the Church and the World must ascend calvary and be crucified and then they will rise again with the Reign of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary!
In the meantime - all of us - prayer! and hopefully more writings from Emmett, helping us to understand and discern the amazing times we live in!

Dear children! Today also I invite you to prayer, now as never before when my plan has begun to be realised. Satan is strong and wants to sweep away my plans of peace and joy and make you think that my Son is not strong in his decisions. Therefore, I call all of you, dear children, to pray and fast still more firmly. I invite you to self-renunciation for nine days so that, with your help, everything that I desire to realise through the secrets I began in Fatima, may be fulfilled. I call you, dear children, to now grasp the importance of my coming and the seriousness of the situation. I want to save all souls and present them to God. Therefore, let us pray that everything I have begun be fully realised. Thank you for having responded to m

When the Vatican’s doctrinal office took away permission to participate in Medjugorje events, it did so by misquoting a statement from the Yugoslav bishops. The error is critical and damaging, and has caused people to believe Medjugorje is at best questionable, says author Wayne Weible.

Thanks for sharing that KP! This is very interesting. Now I don't think that causing an eruption of Yellowstone would be an option, since this would probably be a mass extinction level event, and anything too obvious would be met with a counterattack. But causing an eruption of Cumbre Vieja in the Canary Islands to trigger a megatsunami to wipe out the East Coast would be a more covert manoeuvre, and could virtually eliminate the potential of any retaliation. Saying that though, I still think the eschatological earthquake centred in Jerusalem will be the direct cause of the eruption of Cumbre Vieja.

Emmett,

I'm very much looking forward to further writings and books by you.

One thing I would dearly love is some easy method of cross-referencing. An index would be fantastic, and I think a "timeline" or rearranging events in Revelations in more-or-less chronoligical would be helpful.

Perhaps an outline of Revelations with ties back to other biblical sources fleshing out details or illustrating further intent could be included? You could include links from prophecy and private revelation as well.

I'd volunteer to assist in the tagging and organizing, if it would help.

Hi Emmett,
Happy Easter! I hope you are well!
I just read Pope Francis' bull of indiction for the holy year of mercy. The point about opening the holy door during this year really struck me. The pope asked that in each diocese there be some sort of door of mercy opened in the cathedral or other place to symbolize it. It made me think of St Faustina's diary:

Before the Day of Justice, I am sending the Day of Mercy. (Diary 1588)

He who refuses to pass through the door of My mercy must pass through the door of My justice. (Diary 1146).

What are your thoughts on that? I wonder if this year of mercy is the big grace that Jesus is offering us before the day of justice comes...

Emmett O'Regan said...

I was thinking exactly the same thing Sr. Lorraine! I hope and pray that the time of mercy will last more than a year though, before the day of justice arrives...

Sorry for the belated reply Cetera, and thanks for your very kind offer of assistance. The paperback version of my book already does contain an index and chronology.

I know that we all here already believe that we are living in the end times, but I was happy to see the top exorcist say the same:

"Biblically speaking we are in the last days and the beast is working furiously."

http://www.dfwcatholic.org/high-profile-rome-exorcist-isis-is-satan-67317/.html

That seems to me like more than a general statement that we have been in the last days since Christ's Ascension. Hopefully we start hearing more priests identify the time we live in.

Also, this story about an asteroid could turn out to be nothing, but it struck me that it is predicted to occur in October 2017, which is very significant in relation to Fatima (100 years after the apparitions ended):

Despite the title of the article, it isn't "on a collision course." NASA has stated as much.

"It has a 0.00055% cumulative chance that it will hit," Gyorgyey-Ries said. Just Google for "Asteroid 2012 TC4" to find reputable science sources talking about it.

Even if it did hit, it would be similar to the recent one in Russia - a bright light and maybe some broken windows somewhere.

I have to ponder this more.
Happy Easter to all!

>>>"Medjugorje is coming to fulfill all that SHE HERSELF started in Fatima"

How many reported apparitions have there been there in 34 years??
With the vast majority of statements not being , well, unlike Fatima, I find it virtually impossible to believe that Medjugorje is somehow a 'continuation' of Fatima. Something like 40,000+ messages with no end in sight, what is the point? What is precisely the connection between the two anyway? How is it a continuation of Fatima?

Correction:

It would seem the connection is this WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The LADY warned in 1917 about RUSSIA. Are you watching the news?
Are you seeing what the president is doing?
Have you read about the blood red moons?
You will have your answer before this year is over it seems .
Look up the psalm 83 war.
Look up Elam in iran and the reactor location.

The messages are about PEACE and LOVEing you neighjbor.

But mostly about what will happen if you don"t.
In regard to the Fatima apparitions, the Queen of Peace of Medjugorje says,

August 25, 1991

"Dear Children! Today also I invite you to prayer, now as never before when my plan has begun to be realized. satan is strong and wants to sweep away my plans of peace and joy and make you think that my Son is not strong in His decisions. Therefore, I call all of you, dear children, to pray and fast still more firmly. I invite you to self-renunciation for nine days so that, with your help, everything that I desire to realize through the secrets I began in Fatima, may be fulfilled. I call you, dear children, to now grasp the importance of my coming and the seriousness of the situation. I want to save all souls and present them to God. Therefore, let us pray that everything I have begun be fully realized. Thank you for having responded to my call."

We find in above Medjugorje message, “The Queen of Peace” asks for prayers. In the first Fatima apparition on May 13, 1917, “The Lady of the Rosary” said, “Pray the Rosary, every day, in order to obtain peace for the world.” The similarities are near identical as, in the Fatima message (May 13, 1917) Mary asks we pray to obtain peace for the world and now since 1981 Mary comes to the world as “The Queen of Peace.” Is the “Queen of Peace” from Medjugorje, the promise of Fatima if we faithfully prayed the Rosary? Is Our Lady "The Queen of Peace" here today to bring peace to hearts and minds? Her August 25, 1991 message say's, "I want to save all souls and present them to God." A soul saved is at peace and Mary Queen of Peace may well be just what every soul needs. If this process is completed, Mary can present "ALL SOULS" to God. The reality is, if souls are saved, peace follows.

"Dear children! Today on this great day which you have given to me, I desire to bless all of you and to say: these days while I am with you are days of grace. I desire to teach you and help you to walk the way of holiness. There are many people who do not desire to understand my messages and to accept with seriousness what I am saying. But you I therefore call and ask that by your lives and by your daily living you witness my presence. If you pray, God will help you to discover the true reason for my coming. Therefore, little children, pray and read the Sacred Scriptures so that through my coming you discover the message in Sacred Scripture for you. Thank you for having responded to my call.”

To the troll who responded to me by stating " WAKEUP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

You obviously MISSED MY POINT!!!

Medjugorje meanders ON and ON and ON about mostly NOTHING.
HOW DOES THAT RESEMBLE FATIMA???

Come on, 34 years and STILL cannot get to the point?
Medjugorje is a protracted tactic by satan to change the direction of the church, to actually derail Fatima by inane chitchat about the tiniest of things.
NOTE: Fatima was to the point!!

Fatima said --If you don't change and consecrate russia then they will take over the world---
what are you missing?
Medjugorje is saying this is what you need to spiritually survive
She can't change what She said are the consequences of not following Her demand.
Medjugorje is Her leading the world to safety from what is evidently going to be a earth clensing ordeal.

Dear troll,

Why do you insist I neglect Fatima? I never mad that assertion. IF you can read and understand context, I said where is the connection between the two? Medj. does not bridge that connection, just claims it is a continuation.
So after 34 years, where does it end? What's the point of Medj. after 40k billion 'visions' and Fatima was very brief, direct and dreadful?
One does NOT need Medj. to tell you to pray, fast etc. Fatima is NOT OVER , this from Pope Benedict. So don't imply we NEED Medj. when Fatima is not over.

Anonymous said...

Dear sir
I understand context.
You are asking me to explain why the Mother of God decided She wants to come to earth for such a long time. My only guess is that She must has something she wants to get through to us.
And She tells us to thank the Father for permitting this grace.
So you have to answer that as well.
I am just a pilgrim looking for answers.
My only personal guess is Our Church has decided not to follow the instructions given at Fatima and this is a reminder of this. Would it be more instructive of Her to return to Fatima?
Everyone is dead and has been silenced.
To whom would She address?

Dear troll,

You make the assumption Mary IS appearing @ Medj. It is not something that has been established , only assumed. For another; these kids have been ‘dangling’ the carrot for 34 years, aka 10 ‘secrets’. It is disingenuous to believe these secrets are real, as the vatican doesn’t even possess them for one – to make proper assessment of them. AT LEAST, the vatican DID/DOES have the fatima secret, decades ago. After 34 years in Medj, you’d think otherwise.

You are correct; the church has not followed Fatima, for a reason. That reason does not look good. The example of the King of France and st. margaret mary alacoque was given and is more the likely scenario to occur in the church. One last thing. There is the possibility that there could be a 7th visit of Our Lady at Fatima which has been posited by some. How about Our Lady addressing the current pope??
http://lefleurdelystoo.blogspot.com/2009/06/prophecies-of-marie-julie-jehanny.html

She mentions a pope who, at the last moment, will reverse his policies and make a solemn appeal to the Clergy. (Is there ever a worse/better time than today?)

But he will not be obeyed; on the contrary, an Assembly of bishops will demand even greater freedom, declaring that they will no longer obey the Pope.

Marie-Julie then goes on to say that the Red Revolution will then break out. She speaks of a "horrible religion" which is to replace the Catholic Faith, and she sees "many, many bishops" embracing this "sacrilegious, infamous religion."

No one seems to know anything about the purpose of Medj. except that it is a non ending saga of 'visions' with very questionable sayings.

I just picked up Cardinal Kasper's book, "Mercy." It's outstanding and highly recommended.

I thought I'd stop by here and mention it, since this thread discusses the Extraordinary Jubilee Year coming up, the "door of mercy" and so forth.

Emmett,
I was re-reading the prophecies of Marie-Julie Jahenny as one the many "anonymous" comments provided above with a link which I'm re-posting:
http://lefleurdelystoo.blogspot.com/2009/06/prophecies-of-marie-julie-jehanny.html

I've read bits and pieces of her prophecies throughout the years and have wondered about the prophecy that she supposedly gives about the changes in the mass as quoted from the article:

"On November 27, 1902 (Ed. note: The seventy-second anniversary of the Miraculous Medal Apparition [November 27, 1830]) and on May 10, 1904, Our Lord warned of the new liturgy which would one day be instituted: "I give you a warning. The disciples who are not of My Gospel are now working hard to remake according to their ideas, and under the influence of the enemy of souls, a Mass that contains words which are odious in My Sight. When the fatal hour arrives where the faith of my priest is put to the test, it will be these texts that will be celebrated, in this second period."

I've read this prophecy a number of times in the past, and I've also read that this particular prophecy was not in the original french translation, but inserted later into subsequent translations. I'm wondering if you have researched her prophecies or know anything more about that.

I think it is interesting, however, that we are almost assured of some sort of schism after this synod in reading what Cardinal Marx from Germany has already stated in the interviews that he has given where in summary, he says the German bishops are going to allow divorced and remarried Catholics to receive communion no matter what this upcoming synod decides. One of his interviews can be found in this link:

http://www.ncregister.com/daily-news/german-bishops-we-are-not-just-a-subsidiary-of-rome

This actually dovetails well with what Marie-Julie Jahenny has prophesied as quoted in article the previous link I posted:

"She mentions a pope who, at the last moment, will reverse his policies and make a solemn appeal to the Clergy.

There are a number of prophecies about a schism from other sources that I don't want to mention as it seems all starts an argument as to the veracity of the prophecies which I don't want to engage in. I'm just interested in what you have to say about her, as I know your research is excellent. And, all private revelation must be discerned with a charitable and humble heart, always leaving the final judgement in the hands of the Church. That being said, there are many prophecies given by people who are not canonized saints but they still foretell much struggle and strife that the Church must go through. IMHO they are worth reading for one's own private discernment.

Thanks Emmett for all the work you do on this blog.

dear rose;
I am the "troll" who has been playing devils advocate to the anti medjugorje poster.
I agree that there are numorous prophecy's regarding the church.
My point is that the church does't follow them as authentic enough to follow. Using the gentleman's reference to Fatima. The popes decided it was not worth following the oracle of 10 and 12 year old children. I agree if you add up all the oldtime predictions they certainly seem viable. However if you rely on these then you better throw out the new mass as heresy and investigate most of the cardinals in places of power in rome.

Troll,
I'm not relying on these prophecies to predict if the novus ordo is valid or not. I attend the novus ordo mass. But, I also attend the Latin Mass. But I don't go to the latin mass because of Marie-Julie Jahenny! No, I go because it is one of the most beautiful form of worship on earth. I also attend the Byzantine Catholic Mass on occasion which has another kind of beauty all its own. I see the limitations in the n.o. mass but I believe it's valid. And, I certainly wouldn't stop going because of such a prophecy. I'm not trying to start an argument about the mass.

I just wanted Emmett's opinion about that particular prophecy. I know Emmett is a scholar and has studied these things quite thoroughly as as evidenced in his fine work displayed on this blog. Most blogs that deal with these matters are pure conjecture. I find many prophesies compelling and after reading and researching them for myself--way before anyone I knew was interested in them--for over 30 years-- I've finally found a blog where the author is intelligent and scholarly and can explain many things I've read on a much deeper level than I've been able to do. As I said in my comment, I follow the teachings of the Church. But, as many people I know who love the Church, I believe there are going to be tough times ahead, and the only remedy for that is prayer & penance. Devoutly attending mass, communion, the Divine Mercy Chaplet, the rosary, confession, & adoration. These are our only hope.

Very important. Wednesdays and Fridays, bread and water only.

"Fasting represents an important ascetical practice, a spiritual arm to do battle against every possible disordered attachment to ourselves."

Hi Rose!

I am sceptical of anything that I can't trace back to a reliable primary source. There are just so many spurious prophecies out there. As you state yourself, even some genuine writings have later fictional "insertions" that must be disregarded. As far as I know, the oldest and most trustworthy manuscripts containing Marie Julie Jahenny's writings are only available in French. So it would be extremely difficult to verify the above passages that you have cited.
Another problem I have with these writings is the level of detail described in them, especially concerning the Three Days of Darkness. In my experience, the greater the level of detail in private revelations, the more likely they are to be fraudulent. Either that or they can simply be regarded as the personal speculation of the respective alleged seer. Genuine prophecy tends to be more obscure, but packed with dense layers of meaning (such as in Scripture, or the secrets of Fatima).

Anonymous said...

Thanks Emmett for getting back to me. I agree with what you say about the length of the prophecies. It would be great if someone could take the original French and translate it into English. Don't know when that would come about however! Your explanation is another reason why we must all be discerning about prophecies and apparitions. When the Church makes a positive pronouncement about a prophecy or apparition She says they are "worthy of belief" but no Catholic is obliged to believe in them as you know. If we would only read the catechism and followed Church teaching we would be doing exactly what the prophecies tell us to do anyway!

And to Mark L.: Yes, prayer, fasting almsgiving...the main three that encompasses the traditional route we need to follow. I mentioned penance which I meant to be inclusive in such things as fasting, offering up suffering (i.e. long suffering), practicing the virtues, etc.

Personally I cannot fast on bread and water due to health reasons, but one can certainly abstain and eat smaller meals according to one's own situation.
thanks,

Emmett,

Are you aware of the work of Antonio Yagüe? I just discovered him and wasn't sure if he's been mentioned on this blog before.

He really drew me in with his depth of knowledge, both of prophecy as well as astronomy.

What I found remarkable was he postulates that the Warning will be in November of 2016 almost on the day when the Year of Mercy concludes. And he made that prediction long before the Pope announced it.

Really intriguing stuff, and what I've seen so far is orthodox. This one is in English:

Hi Mark. No I haven't heard of Antonio Yague before. Thanks for directing me to his work. I have heard of people pointing to the significance of Nov 20th though, in relation to planetary alignment possibly associated with Rev 12 which culminates on September 23, 2017. The process for this alignment though begins on November 20, 2016 when Jupiter enters the womb of Virgo. November 20, 2016 being the very day that the Jubilee of Mercy ends.

Playing with numbers...

Check the numbers of days from Pope Francis' election to culmination of planetary alignment... use either 1260(Daniel) or 1290 (John in Revelation) days ....interestingly close; or as they say: Good enough for government work (LOL)

Antonio Yague's link was posted by someone a few months back in the comment section as I did look at alot of his videos. The English ones are difficult imo to understand due to his accent, but it's worth the effort. I re-watched the video on the 6th seal and two things bother me about how he interprets the warning.

First, I cannot find anything that substantiates his claim that Conchita said : "If I had not seen the Chastisement I would think that the warning is the greatest punishment God will send to mankind."

I have read alot about Garabandal and I've never read that. If anyone can substantiate that quote please tell me the original source. Everything I've read about what she said about the warning is that no one will die from it except perhaps those who are so shocked to see themselves before God and how bad thier sins are that they may die of a heart attack or some ailment such as that. But Antonio Yague had the poles shifting on that day of the warning which he says is Nov.20th, 2016, and the great tidal wives coming that will redoubtably kill millions of people who will have no time to contemplate their sins before God and repent because they will be dead! Is that supposed to be a warning? That sounds more like the chastisement to me.

The second thing is his claim that St. Leander's feastday is Nov. 13. I looked that up and all I could find was that his feastday, in the extraordinary rite is on February 27th; http://www.traditioninaction.org/SOD/j117sdLeander_2-27.htm
I cannot find St.Leander in the novus ordo mass at all or anywhere else except perhaps where only the local Church would celebrate it as it's not on the Universal Church's calendar.

He goes into alot of detail about dates and how they fit into what he calls "sacred astronomy" the art of which is plausible as it was how the Magi calculated the birth of Our Lord. So, it's interesting stuff but one needs to be discerning about what he writes and use some critical analysis when viewing the videos. Just my thoughts.

I also checked out the videos which were certainly interesting and informative. While undoubtedly a sincere and learned person, I was concerned that Professor Yague seemed to accept Millennialism the belief in an earthly 1000 year reign of Christ as earthly king. The Church as put forth amillennialism .....see St Augustine.

Agreed on the need to be discerning. We need to discern carefully everywhere, however, including this blog. It helps to have a variety of sources for eschatological inquiries.

Rose,

Your question about the feast day of St. Leander is answered on Spanish Wikipedia:-
http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leandro_de_Sevilla

The box at the top right gives his feast day as 14th November in the Novus Ordo in Spain. Footnote 3 gives a link to the Spanish liturgical calendar for 2015, showing that this year it is to be celebrated on 13th November.

NOTE: None of the following is to negatively reflect - in any way - on anyone's sincerity.

Sacred Astronomy in some manner can be read about if searching for "Mazzaroth." A few books have been written, I also found some websites run by enthusiastic Evangelicals some of whom are former Catholics who have "...seen the light," as they say. I found an exotic mixture of Egyptian lore, Jewish Kabbalah, Babylonian myths, etc.
All of this having put me on guard, I also checked New Advent, the site of the old Catholic Encyclopedia; after that, I became very skeptical of the reliability of field of study.

The Stars may have messages from God - I just have to make very sure that message doesn't get corrupted by Satan. So ! I stick with what can be identified - in some way - with the Catholic Church founded by Jesus Christ.
God Bless us all

Muv,
Thanks for getting back to me on St. Leander. I had suspected that his feastday was celebrated only in a certain country, much like the commemoration of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton or Kateri Tekakwitha which one would find only in the USA (and maybe Canada for Kateri also, not sure). Or, as the English martyrs who are commemorated in England and Wales and many other feastdays and saints particular to their own country.

The point that A. Yague was making with St. Leander (imho) was that he, as the bishop of the region, converted Hermenigild from the Arian heresy. Now we know Leander's feast is Nov.13th--and also the same date as the last appearance of Our Lady of Fatima in 1907. And Leander's feast is only celebrated in Spain, the country where the prophecies of the warning and miracle originated--and I would suppose (again imho) to that would nicely fit in to the symbolism of the "conversion" of the people from their sins during the warning---which will occur 7 days later.

Hermenigild was martyred because he refused communion from an Arian Bishop---thus the connection to the warning and the miracle which will occur on the feast of a martyr of the Eucharist. Antonio Yague and many others think the date of the miracle is April 13th, 2017, Hermenigild's feastday,( celebrated in the latin mass) within the one year time frame between the warning and the miracle as prophesied in Garabandal. Also,2017 April 13th turns out to be Holy Thursday--the day of the institution of the Eucharist. Why the Eucharist? In Garabandal Our Lady was to have said: "Less and less importance is being given to the Eucharist".

So, we will see how this all plays out. These are only my thoughts--not trying to convince anyone of anything, as I myself believe that whatever happens, if we stay right with God, pray, do penance, submit ourselves to God's will and lead a good christian live we have nothing to fear. Ultimately it's all in His hands.

Emmet,
As I’m re-reading your post on St. Patrick’s prophecy, am I correct in understanding your interpretation of Sr. Lucia’s of the Third Secret, that the flash or the “light of God” is the prelude to the tsunami, would that be the sign in the sky that is foretold in the Diary of Divine Mercy in my Soul memoirs of Sr. Faustina? Or is that the flash of light of the Comet Ikeya-Seki? If it’s the latter, then the upcoming tsunami is imminent—since it’s been quite a long time since that comet appeared.
And, I have read the post of the Great Monarch and the Angelic Shepherd which I always thought was going to come after the persecution of the Church….but has that already occurred? I think your interpretation is that Pope Francis is the Angelic Shepherd, but who is/was the great Monarch?
I’m totally baffled.
