La Palma and the "Burning Mountain" of Revelation

As regular readers of this blog will be fully aware, one of the major hypotheses I forward in my book Unveiling the Apocalypse: The Final Passover of the Church, is that the "great mountain, burning with fire" being thrown into the sea in Rev 8:8 foretells a volcanic lateral collapse in the Canary Islands. Since the first edition of my book was published in 2011, I have specifically pointed to the threat posed by the volcano Cumbre Vieja in La Palma (see here for an earlier post on this subject dating back to 2011). It thus seems to be beyond coincidence that Cumbre Vieja has recently saw a surge of seismic activity, beginning on 7th October, 2017 - the Feast of the Holy Rosary, just over a week after the expiration date of the 40 day "Sign of Jonah" period, which began with the Great American Solar Eclipse on 21st August, 2017.

The fact that Cumbre Vieja now appears to be showing signs of a possible imminent eruption has rattled a fair number of people familiar with my work, and there are even serious concerns among many others who are unfamiliar with this particular theory. So I thought I should take some time here to explain why I don't think we need to resort to an alarmist interpretation of this hypothesis just yet, as according to the timescale I present in the book, there are many other events which have to occur before this cataclysm will eventually take place. This is the primary reason why I tried to avoid linking this specific threat with the conditional chastisement at the end of the 40-day "Sign of Jonah" period, since I believe that there is still some time left before the true threat from Cumbre Vieja comes into play. Instead, I suspect that the true threat at this particular moment in time stemmed from North Korean nuclear crisis, which peaked within the timeframe associated with the 40 days from the Great American Solar Eclipse, and quickly eased off again after 30th September, 2017, when US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson announced that a "back-channel" of communication had been opened in order to ease diplomatic tensions. Hopefully this period saw the peak in the level of heated rhetoric between America and North Korea, as the only options beyond this current nuclear impasse are too terrible to contemplate.

I will try to outline some of the reasoning behind the chronology concerning the Cumbre Vieja event below, after we give a brief overview of the current ongoing activity in the Canary Islands. A short extract from the Daily Express helps to summarize these recent events:

LA PALMA volcano’s red-hot magma has risen after its recent flurry of earthquakes causing the ground on the Canary Islands to “significantly” rise above ground level, experts said.
Volcano experts discovered the ground in the area surrounding local hotel Teneguia Princess hotel has risen by about 1cm to the south and 3.5cm upwards over the past year, according to GPS sensors regulating ground deformation. The shocking results from the Volcanological Institute of the Canary Islands (Involcan) come after the archipelago was rocked by two separate seismic swarms in the area surrounding the deadly Cumbre Vieja.
One of the world's leading experts in volcanology, Professor Takeshi Sagiya, from the Nagoya University, described the GPS data as ”significant". He said the recorded change in height looked significant compared with the changes in the last year. Many prominent geophysicists believe that when this lateral collapse does eventually unfold, it will generate a mega-tsunami that will devastate the East Coast of the Americas. An event which I argue in the book will bring about the collapse of the United States as a superpower, and ensure the rise of the Antichrist to global dominance.

In the first edition of my book, I had argued that the mountain being thrown into the sea mentioned in Rev 8:8 occurs as a direct consequence of the eschatological earthquake in Jerusalem, based on several key passages found in Scripture. The burning mountain being thrown into the sea indicates the judgement which is meted out on the eschatological world empire "Babylon", symbolised by the angel casting a millstone into the sea in Rev 18:21:

Then a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone and threw it into the sea, saying, “So will Babylon the great city be thrown down with violence, and will be found no more"...
(Rev 18:21)

The Apocalypse itself closely associates the judgement of Babylon with the occurrence of the eschatological earthquake in Jerusalem:

The seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air, and a loud voice came out of the temple, from the throne, saying, “It is done!” And there were flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder, and a great earthquake such as there had never been since man was on the earth, so great was that earthquake.  The great city was split into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell, and God remembered Babylon the great, to make her drain the cup of the wine of the fury of his wrath. And every island fled away, and no mountains were to be found. (Rev 16:17-20)

The Greek phrase καὶ πᾶσα νῆσος ἔφυγεν rendered here as "every island fled away" can also be translated as "the whole island disappeared" (the word pasa can mean either "every" or "whole"), which better fits with the other material related to the judgement of Babylon found in the Apocalypse. If this passage is related to the "great mountain, burning with fire" being thrown into the sea, then we can see how the description of the disappearance of an entire island could be explained by a large-scale volcanic eruption, which would be possible if it was equivalent on the Explosivity Index to that at Krakatoa in 1883, or Thera (Santorini), circa 1600BC (see my earlier post The Santorini Eruption and the Apocalyptic Plagues of Exodus).

The above connection between the eschatological earthquake and the millstone judgement being wrought upon Babylon is further implied by related material found in the Old Testament. In the Book of Ezekiel, the eschatological earthquake is similarly connected to the casting down of mountains, and is set within a section of material bearing the immediate context of the gathering of the armies of the world for the battle of Armageddon:

"Thus says the Lord God: Are you he of whom I spoke in former days by my servants the prophets of Israel, who in those days prophesied for years that I would bring you against them? But on that day, the day that Gog shall come against the land of Israel, declares the Lord God, my wrath will be roused in my anger. For in my jealousy and in my blazing wrath I declare, On that day there shall be a great earthquake in the land of Israel. The fish of the sea and the birds of the heavens and the beasts of the field and all creeping things that creep on the ground, and all the people who are on the face of the earth, shall quake at my presence. And the mountains shall be thrown down, and the cliffs shall fall, and every wall shall tumble to the ground. I will summon a sword against Gog on all my mountains, declares the Lord God. Every man's sword will be against his brother. With pestilence and bloodshed I will enter into judgment with him, and I will rain upon him and his hordes and the many peoples who are with him torrential rains and hailstones, fire and sulfur." (Ezek 38:17-22)

The splitting apart of the "great city" during the eschatological earthquake in Rev 16:17-20 alludes to  material found in the Book of Zechariah:

Behold, a day is coming for the Lord, when the spoil taken from you will be divided in your midst. For I will gather all the nations against Jerusalem to battle, and the city shall be taken and the houses plundered and the women raped. Half of the city shall go out into exile, but the rest of the people shall not be cut off from the city. Then the Lord will go out and fight against those nations as when he fights on a day of battle. On that day his feet shall stand on the Mount of Olives that lies before Jerusalem on the east, and the Mount of Olives shall be split in two from east to west by a very wide valley, so that one half of the Mount shall move northward, and the other half southward. And you shall flee to the valley of my mountains, for the valley of the mountains shall reach to Azal. And you shall flee as you fled from the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah. Then the Lord my God will come, and all the holy ones with him. On that day there shall be no light, cold, or frost. And there shall be a unique day, which is known to the Lord, neither day nor night, but at evening time there shall be light. On that day living waters shall flow out from Jerusalem, half of them to the eastern sea and half of them to the western sea. It shall continue in summer as in winter.
(Zech 14:1-8)

This description of light appearing during the evening and living waters flowing out of Jerusalem after the occurrence of the eschatological earthquake recapitulates an earlier passage in Zechariah. A block of material which has been explicitly identified with the appearance of the Sign of the Son of Man by several Early Church Fathers, including St. John Chrysostom and St. Cyril of Jerusalem.

"And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and pleas for mercy, so that, when they look on me, on him whom they have pierced, they shall mourn for him, as one mourns for an only child, and weep bitterly over him, as one weeps over a firstborn. On that day the mourning in Jerusalem will be as great as the mourning for Hadad-rimmon in the plain of Megiddo." (Zech 12:10-11)

"On that day there shall be a fountain opened for the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, to cleanse them from sin and uncleanness." (Zech 13:1)

According to the Early Church Fathers, this portion of the Book of Zechariah was directly related to the conversion of the Jews at the end of the age during the appearance of the Sign of the Son of Man. The Catechism teaches that the conversion of the Jews must take place before the Second Coming of Christ.

The glorious Messiah's coming is suspended at every moment of history until his recognition by "all Israel", for "a hardening has come upon part of Israel" in their "unbelief" toward Jesus. St. Peter says to the Jews of Jerusalem after Pentecost: "Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that he may send the Christ appointed for you, Jesus, whom heaven must receive until the time for establishing all that God spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets from of old." St. Paul echoes him: "For if their rejection means the reconciliation of the world, what will their acceptance mean but life from the dead?" The "full inclusion" of the Jews in the Messiah's salvation, in the wake of "the full number of the Gentiles", will enable the People of God to achieve "the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ", in which "God may be all in all". (CCC 674)

So if the timing of the eschatological earthquake directly coincides with the appearance of the Sign of the Son of Man over Jerusalem, and the judgement of Babylon is only carried out after this event, as is indicated by Rev 16:17-20; then we can only be left to conclude that the bringing in of the fullness of the Gentiles must begin some time before the Cumbre Vieja event, and it will only take place when this commission is completed.

Now concerning the times and the seasons, brothers, you have no need to have anything written to you. For you yourselves are fully aware that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, “There is peace and security,” then sudden destruction will come upon them as labor pains come upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. (1Thes 5:1-3)

According to St. Paul in chapter 11 of his epistle to the Romans, the fullness of the Gentiles must be brought in before the conversion of the Jews - an event which the Early Church Fathers believed would be accompanied by the appearance of the Sign of the Son of Man and the eschatological earthquake in Jerusalem.

Lest you be wise in your own sight, I do not want you to be unaware of this mystery, brothers: a partial hardening has come upon Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in. And in this way all Israel will be saved, as it is written, “The Deliverer will come from Zion, he will banish ungodliness from Jacob”; “and this will be my covenant with them when I take away their sins.” (Rom 11:25-27)
It is only after the inclusion of the fullness of the Gentiles that the conversion of the Jews takes place, coinciding with the eschatological earthquake - which itself causes the "burning mountain" of Revelation to be cast into the sea, bringing about the destruction of the eschatological world empire. And the fullness of the Gentiles can only be brought into the Church after the period of the unbinding of Satan, when the Gospel can once again be spread throughout the world. As St. Augustine noted, the binding of Satan is purely concerned with the spread of the Gospel, and once the period of the loosening of the Devil is over, Satan would once again be restrained in order to allow for the spread of the Gospel to bring about the restoration of the Church.

The Lord Jesus Christ Himself says, No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man — meaning by the strong man the devil, because he had power to take captive the human race; and meaning by his goods which he was to take, those who had been held by the devil in various sins and iniquities, but were to become believers in Himself. It was then for the binding of this strong one that the apostle saw in the Apocalypse an angel coming down from heaven, having the key of the abyss, and a chain in his hand. And he laid hold, he says, on the dragon, that old serpent, which is called the devil and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,— that is, bridled and restrained his power so that he could not seduce and gain possession of those who were to be freed...

The devil, then, is bound and shut up in the abyss that he may not seduce the nations from which the Church is gathered, and which he formerly seduced before the Church existed. For it is not said that he should not seduce any man, but that he should not seduce the nations— meaning, no doubt, those among which the Church exists— till the thousand years should be fulfilled,— i.e., either what remains of the sixth day which consists of a thousand years, or all the years which are to elapse till the end of the world.
(City of God XX:7)

But the binding of the devil is his being prevented from the exercise of his whole power to seduce men, either by violently forcing or fraudulently deceiving them into taking part with him. If he were during so long a period permitted to assail the weakness of men, very many persons, such as God would not wish to expose to such temptation, would have their faith overthrown, or would be prevented from believing; and that this might not happen, he is bound...

Now the devil was thus bound not only when the Church began to be more and more widely extended among the nations beyond Judea, but is now and shall be bound till the end of the world, when he is to be loosed...

...in these days there shall be no lack either of those who fall away from, or of those who attach themselves to the Church; but there shall be such resoluteness, both in parents to seek baptism for their little ones, and in those who shall then first believe, that they shall conquer that strong one, even though unbound,— that is, shall both vigilantly comprehend, and patiently bear up against him, though employing such wiles and putting forth such force as he never before used; and thus they shall be snatched from him even though unbound. And yet the verse of the Gospel will not be untrue, Who enters into the house of the strong one to spoil his goods, unless he shall first have bound the strong one? For in accordance with this true saying that order is observed— the strong one first bound, and then his goods spoiled; for the Church is so increased by the weak and strong from all nations far and near, that by its most robust faith in things divinely predicted and accomplished, it shall be able to spoil the goods of even the unbound devil. For as we must own that, when iniquity abounds, the love of many waxes cold, Matthew 24:12 and that those who have not been written in the book of life shall in large numbers yield to the severe and unprecedented persecutions and stratagems of the devil now loosed, so we cannot but think that not only those whom that time shall find sound in the faith, but also some who till then shall be without, shall become firm in the faith they have hitherto rejected and mighty to conquer the devil even though unbound, God's grace aiding them to understand the Scriptures, in which, among other things, there is foretold that very end which they themselves see to be arriving. And if this shall be so, his binding is to be spoken of as preceding, that there might follow a spoiling of him both bound and loosed; for it is of this it is said, Who shall enter into the house of the strong one to spoil his goods, unless he shall first have bound the strong one?
(City of God XX:8)

As I argue at some length in both my book and throughout this blog, the period of the unbinding of Satan almost certainly began at the beginning of the 20th century, and this understanding of the Millennium of Rev 20 is the primary thrust behind the prophetic vision of Pope Leo XIII. So we are only just now reaching the end of the period of the loosening of Satan, which in all likelihood will only be fully completed around the year 2020, when there will be yet another alignment of all seven classical planets - which I argue is symbolised by the seven stars held in the hands of Christ in Rev 1, representing the "keys to Death and Hades":

In his right hand he held seven stars, from his mouth came a sharp two-edged sword, and his face was like the sun shining in full strength. When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, “Fear not, I am the first and the last, and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades. (Rev 1:16-18)

So it is rare alignments of all seven classical planets which mark the opening and closing of the abyss at the end of the thousand years via the "keys of Death and Hades", which is also closely connected to the seven burning mountains which stand at the entrance to Hades in the Book of Enoch (see here for an earlier post which delves into this topic in more detail).

The bringing in of the fullness of the Gentiles can only begin once the ability of Satan to blind the minds of unbelievers to the truth of the Gospel has once again been broken, which will occur at the end of the period of greater power allotted to him.

And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. (2Cor 4:3-4)

It is worth noting that the rector of Walsingham Shrine has recently revealed that there are plans to re-dedicate England as the Dowry of Mary in the year 2020, which is an immensely prophetic gesture on behalf of the English hierarchy (see here). There are many prophecies which point to the significance of the conversion of England to Catholicism, and according to the original secrets of La Salette, it is through the conversion of this nation that leads to the restoration of the Church throughout the world:

France has corrupted the universe, one day it will be punished. The faith will die out in France: three quarters of France will not practice religion anymore, or almost no more, the other part will practice it without really practicing it. Then, after [that], nations will convert, the faith will be rekindled everywhere. A great country, now Protestant, in the north of Europe, will be converted; by the support of this country all the other nations of the world will be converted.
(Our Lady of La Salette to Maximin Giraud)

So if we are only just now coming through the other side of the period of Satan's unbinding, it stands to reason that the bringing in of the fullness of the Gentiles still lies some time in the future, and will only begin to take place around our own time. The Gospel must be proclaimed throughout the world after this period of the cooling of the Faith, which is the produce of the general lawlessness brought about during the unbinding of Satan:

And because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold. But the one who endures to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. (Matt 24:12-14)

Then I saw another angel flying directly overhead, with an eternal gospel to proclaim to those who dwell on earth, to every nation and tribe and language and people. (Rev 14:6)

It is only once there is another falling away from the faith after the Gospel has been proclaimed throughout the whole world during the restoration of the Church that we will see the destruction of the eschatological world power referred to as the "harlot of Babylon". Throughout the Bible, the epithet "harlot" is used to denounce the treachery of the nations of Israel and Judah, and indicates a covenantal relationship with God. So the "Babylon" of Revelation is undoubtedly a Christian nation which eventually turns its back on God, and pays the ultimate price as a result.

And that servant who knew his master's will but did not get ready or act according to his will, will receive a severe beating. But the one who did not know, and did what deserved a beating, will receive a light beating. Everyone to whom much was given, of him much will be required, and from him to whom they entrusted much, they will demand the more.
(Luke 12:47-48)

As Sr. Lucia stated, the greater level of accountability incurred after the restoration of the Church is why the chastisement is so severe when the world once again rejects God:

"...in the plans of Divine Providence, God always, before He is about to chastise the world, exhausts all other remedies. Now, when He sees that the world pays no attention whatsoever, then as we say in our imperfect manner of speaking, He offers us with ‘certain fear’ the last means of salvation, His Most Holy Mother. It is with ‘certain fear’ because if you despise and repulse this ultimate means, we will not have any more forgiveness from Heaven, because we will have committed a sin which the Gospel calls the sin against the Holy Ghost. This sin consists of openly rejecting, with full knowledge and consent, the salvation which He offers. Let us remember that Jesus Christ is a very good Son and that He does not permit that we offend and despise His Most Holy Mother. We have recorded through many centuries of Church history the obvious testimony which demonstrates by the terrible chastisements which have befallen those who have attacked the honor of His Most Holy Mother, how Our Lord Jesus Christ has always defended the honor of His Mother." (Sr. Lucia to Fr. Fuentes)

It seems that yet another wide-scale falling away from the Faith after the period of the restoration of the Church is inevitable, and when this happens, judgement will swiftly follow. As Our Lady of La Salette told Melanie Calvat:

After all these calamities have arrived, many will recognize the hand of God on them. They will convert, and do penance for their sins. A great king will go up on the throne, and will reign many years. Religion will re-flourish and spread all over the world, and there will be a great abundance. The world, glad to be lacking nothing, will fall again into disorder, will give up God, and will return to its criminal passions.

So the combined evidence suggests that the judgement meted out on the eschatological world power "Babylon" will only take place after the restoration of the Church, and occurs as a direct result of the greater responsibly that has been heaped on that nation. It seems in all likelihood that America is destined to become a great Catholic nation, and once it turns its back on God after experiencing this mass conversion, it can expect its folly to be met with disastrous consequences. We can only be left to conclude that these recent rumblings at La Palma serve as a forewarning of the fate that lies in store for America once it rejects Christ after being brought into the sheepfold. The fact that this seismic activity at La Palma occurred so soon on the back of the "40 days of repentance" beginning with the Great American Solar Eclipse is certainly beyond coincidence - especially in light of the plethora of other significant events which unfolded during this time period. It seems that God is signalling that He wishes to give America a second chance, just as he extended towards the Israelites after the idolatry of the Golden Calf. Even though Moses smashed the first set of tablets containing the Decalogue as a result (an event I show in the book is symbolised in the events of 9/11), he interceded for the Israelites during a forty day period of repentance, before eventually bestowing the second set of the tables of the Law, and the nation of Israel entered into a full covenantal relationship with God. Could this offer of a second chance and a covenantal relationship with America be what was really signalled by all of these recent events? Either way, it seems that this recent activity centring around Cumbre Vieja is merely a warning of a fate which lies in store in the future, rather than an immediately imminent event.

The reason I don’t think the world will end yet is because it didn’t convert yet. The world consists of more than just Europe. Only a small part of the world has known the gospel. Gentiles are more than just Europeans. Many people have a vague idea of the gospel.

Exactly Thomas! The great commission still has to be fulfilled before the end can come. The Great Chastisement will only arrive after the Gospel has reached its limits, and is then afterwards rejected.

So you've mentioned in the past how the Great Schism in 1054 seemed to coincide with the supernova the same year on July 4, 1054. Emmett, didn't you say the alignment of the seven classical planets happens on July 4th 2020? I remember reading that in one of your comments. What's the connection there? And coincidence that it's Independence Day in the U.S.?

I am an American and the reason I spend so much time on your blog is because I find the true faith here. I guess we are to expect some huge conversion in my country because mostly I see surrounding me materialists, hedonists and negativity. Maybe it's worse where I live?

Emmett, what happens between now and 2020? As it says in the book of Rev 12:17 "then the dragon was enraged with the woman and went away to make war on the rest of her children, ....." Surely, knowing that his time is short, Satan will have a tantrum. Does this not tie in with many prophecies - in effect that we are in for a very difficult time in the near future?

The North Korean “threat”is a fake threat. The real threat to global peace and security is not Little Kim. The real threat to global peace and security is the decades of warmongering by Team Neocon, which is responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands over the past two decades in places as disparate as Iraq, Libya, Syria and Ukraine.

I hate to be a party-pooper, but I think the 100 years of Satan's greater power came to an end in 1984. 1984 was the year JPII consecrated the world to the Immaculate Heart of Mary and it was 100 years since Pope Leo's 1884 vision. All the gains of the secret societies began to fall apart one by one, starting in 1984. Within 10 years, 87 dictatorships fell, the Berlin Wall came down and Eastern Europe was freed from Communism. In Russia, Vladimir Putin and a band of Russian patriots slowly but surely started to regain control of their country from the Jewish, Bolshevik revolutionaries who had hijacked her in 1917. But, sadly, while Russia was in the process of converting, the West was busy embracing the very "errors of Russia" that had infected her in 1917. So now we find ourselves in the present situation: with the Freemason-led West getting closer and closer to a real confrontation with a converted Russia.

In the 15th century, during the apparitions at Quito, revelations were made to Mother Mariana de Jesus Torres that could only be referring to our times. It was to be a time, she was told, when there would be almost no virgin souls in the world. Mother Mariana was told about what many believe to be World War III, during which the triumph of the Immaculate Heart would bring a swift end to that war.
.
To be honest, this is all I know about the Quito apparitions, from which we have the Our Lady of Good Success devotion. But I've always seen that last bit as tying in directly with the Fatima apparitions, where Our Lady used the words, "My Immaculate Heart will triumph."
.
All this confirms what Emmett is telling us. There is much still to happen before the volcanic eruption.

Emmett, in your estimation will Russia be truly converted as foreseen by Our Lady of Fatima without fulky embracing Catholicism? It seems to me that Our Lady wouldn't speak in half mmeasures... or is the full and complete conversion of Russia to the Catholic faith sonething that should be viewed as an ongoing work-in-progress that we shouldn't expect to dramatically occur overnight?

I didn't realise that the supernova of 1054 fell on the same date as the future planetary alignment in 2020 Bridget! Thanks for pointing this out! The fact that a supernova is expected to appear in 2022 also seems to be of some significance in this regard. It makes me wonder if the reunification of the Eastern Orthodox with Rome will be similarly accompanied by a supernova, as a sort of antithetical parallelism. The prospect of a future supernova brings to mind St. Peter tracing the sign of the Cross over the earth in the prophecy of Bl. Elizabeth Canori-Mora:

"On the feast of Saints Peter and Paul, June 29, 1820, she saw Saint Peter descending from heaven, robed in papal vestments and surrounded by a legion of angels. With his crosier he drew a great cross over the face of the earth, separating it into four quadrants. In each of these quadrants, he then brought forth a tree, sprouting with new life. Each tree was in the shape of a cross and enveloped in magnificent light. All the good laity and religious fled for protection underneath these trees and were spared from the tremendous chastisement. “Woe! Woe to those unobservant religious who despise their Holy Rules. They will all perish in the terrible chastisement together with all who give themselves to debauchery and follow the false maxims of their deplorable contemporary philosophy!...
...However, all will not end in this death and destruction. After these purifying punishments, she saw Saint Peter return on a majestic papal throne together with Saint Paul, who went through the world shackling the devils and bringing them before Saint Peter, who cast them back into the dark caverns from where they had come. “Then a beautiful splendor came over the earth, to announce the reconciliation of God with mankind.”

The above prophecy of the shackling of demons appears to take place at the end of the period of Satan's unbinding. Although, I think any prospects of a supernova to announce the restoration of the Church should be considered separately from the Sign of the Son of Man, which takes place once the fullness of the Gentiles has already been brought in.

Pat F, Satan going off to make war on the rest of the Woman's offspring after he has suffered a setback in the swallowing up of the flood by the earth indicates the final persecution of Christians under the Antichrist. We see what form this persecution takes in Rev 13, when the Beast is allowed to make war on the saints and kill them (Rev 13:7). This is the final Passover of the Church seen in the Third Secret. The restoration of the Church must come before that though, and is symbolised by the earth swallowing up the flood from the Dragon's mouth.

Emmett O'Regan said...

Jason, yes I think Russia will follow the rest of the Orthodox Church in being fully reconciled with Rome. The healing of the East/West schism is what the prophecies of the Angelic Pope are really all about, and is also alluded to in the Book of Job, when Job's estranged siblings come into his house and break bread with him:

And the Lord restored the fortunes of Job, when he had prayed for his friends. And the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before. Then came to him all his brothers and sisters and all who had known him before, and ate bread with him in his house. And they showed him sympathy and comforted him for all the evil that the Lord had brought upon him. And each of them gave him a piece of money and a ring of gold. (Job 42:10-11)

Again, this is connected with the end of the period of the unbinding of Satan, when "Job" finally has his fortunes restored after his hour of trial. And yes, I don't think all this will happen overnight. The Russian and Eastern Orthodox needs to resolve certain theological difficulties with Rome and recognize Papal Primacy in order to be reconciled with the West, and don't need to fully embrace Latin practices. They would still retain a degree of autonomy from Rome, somewhat akin to the Eastern Rite Churches. But yeah, I fully expect Our Lady's promise of the conversion of Russia is not limited to its present condition.

JMC said...

Jason, you are absolutely correct. Our Lady does not work in half-measures. When she said Russia will be converted, she meant completely converted to Catholicism - particularly when you consider that is the primary meaning of the word in that context, and to most Catholics of that time, the ONLY meaning. Most experts on Fatima agree that the implication was that the conversion would be a miraculous conversion of the entire nation at once, so that the world would know that this was the work of God through the Immaculate Heart, in order to establish devotion to Mary's Immaculate Heart alongside devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, one of the stated desires of the Fatima message.
.
Some of those experts also agree that the full and explicit consecration of Russia will actually be REQUESTED by Russia. The current movement of the Russian Orthodox Church back toward full communion with Pope certainly seems to suggest this request may be coming at some point in the future.

No, Jason, Our Lady of Fatima’s primary mission was not to covert Russia to Catholicism. Please, don’t turn Fatima into a political weapon. Had Our Lady’s primary mission been to heal the Schism, why did she wait hundreds of years? Why did she wait until 1917,which was the year Orthodox, Christian Russia (the Orthodox have valid Sacraments, especially the Eucharist, unlike the Protestants who control the West) was hijacked by Jewish Bolsheviks. Our Lady’s mission was to save Russia from atheistic Jewish Bolshevism, a much greater threat than the centuries old schism, and she was successful.

I'm going to put some garbled thoughts here and add to or sort them out later.

Firstly I think many are confused by the timeline.
My understanding is that there are 2 more conflicts to come.
The first is what we would call WWIII.
I contend that it is around the time of this war that the warning and miracle mentioned in Garabandal will occur.
It is the miracle - the Rainbow of Peace as St John Bosco described it - that will cause the world to convert and believe.

I suggest that the warning is (or could be) a CuVi earthquake which leaves Europe seriously damaged and without US support.
This would be a more likely precursor to a Russian 'invasion' as mentioned in many prophecies.
The Miracle would then be the cause of the end of the war and the conversion of Russia (and indeed, much of the world).

The following period would then be the period of peace and Church victory with the Angelic Pope and (possibly) Great Monarch.
At the end of this period comes AntiChrist and the End of Days, Judgement etc..etc..

This is my understanding of the timeline.

I suggest that my interpretation leans toward a more imminent realisation of this first phase for 2 reasons. (These are not approved, I know, but we are all familiar with them -)
1. The Garabandal events will be announced by Conchita in advance. Conchita is now 68 years old.
2. We are at or near the 'final' Pope in Malachys list. It is he who is referenced in many prophecies relating to this period.

Some unfinished thoughts -

In addition I would point out that I see Jacob (and Esau) as pre-figuring Europe and Russia just as EO'R pointed out with Job and the Churches.

The '1/3 of stars falling from the sky' (rev) pertains to the break-up/attack on the EU/Europe.

The 3 days of darkness means a short but very, very heavy conflict; a Russian 'Blitz', if you like.

I'd like to hear any feedback people have - does this help? Is it coherent?

Don't you believe the Catholic Church is the one true church? Of course Our Lady wanted Russia to convert to Catholicism- it was Lucy's belief.

I think we need to be very careful when we try interpret the words of Fatima with the contemporary situation in modern Russia. Much of the discussion here is really motivated by a political viewpoint and often takes no cognisance of history. Remember that the Kingdom of God "is not of this world". Many people seem unable to discern between the former Soviet Union, a militantly atheistic communist empire that persecuted Christians throughout the USSR, and modern Russia. The state of Russia is not the USSR and is not communist! In fact, it is emerging as the principal defender of Christianity in the world (ask the Christians of Syria who it is that defends and persecutes them).

I would urge you all to consider the following from Pope St John Paul II's 1995 encyclica Ut unum sint (may they be one). As a Polish Pope who lived through the Nazi and Soviet occupations, JPII knew more about Fatima, Russia and the Orthodox Church than everyone on this forum put together. I find his expression "the Church must breathe with her two lungs" a beautiful metaphor for the Latin and Greek Churches (the Catholic Church) - the Church of St Peter and St Paul. The Church we had for the first 1,000 years of Christianity.

Ut Unum Sint (On commitment to Ecumenism)
"In this perspective an expression which I have frequently employed finds its deepest meaning: the Church must breathe with her two lungs! In the first millennium of the history of Christianity, this expression refers primarily to the relationship between Byzantium and Rome. From the time of the Baptism of Rus' it comes to have an even wider application: evangelization spread to a much vaster area, so that it now includes the entire Church. If we then consider that the salvific event which took place on the banks of the Dnieper goes back to a time when the Church in the East and the Church in the West were not divided, we understand clearly that the vision of the full communion to be sought is that of unity in legitimate diversity. This is what I strongly asserted in my Encyclical Epistle Slavorum Apostoli 85 on Saints Cyril and Methodius and in my Apostolic Letter Euntes in Mundum 86 addressed to the faithful of the Catholic Church in commemoration of the Millennium of the Baptism of Kievan Rus'."

To anonymous: There's nothing about politics in the belief that Our Lady's mission was to convert Russia to Catholicism. To repeat what I said in my earlier post in answer to Jason, in 1917, to most Catholics, the word "convert" meant precisely conversion to Catholicism; an omnipotent God would not have her use the word in an ambiguous manner. So yes, her primary mission WAS the conversion of Russia - and the WHOLE WORLD - to Catholicism.

Mighty Righty, your thoughts all make perfect sense. The timeline you put forth is my understanding of matters, as well. To be honest, though, I personally don't agree with the symbolic interpretation of the three days' darkness. There are those who argue that it could be the result of a massive nuclear war; huge amounts of dust in the air would certainly be enough to dim, if not completely occlude, sunlight for a while, which is why you often hear people referring to "nuclear winter." "Artificial" lights (in this instance, electric ones) might not work for a time because of the EMP that would accompany a nuclear blast - but then, why do the prophecies specify *blessed* candles as the only thing that would give light? In an EMP-based blackout, any candle or oil lamp would do the job. The prophecies also state that the earth will shake throughout the entire three days, only whatever piece of furniture the candle is placed on will remain stable. That could refer to the eschatological earthquake.
.
Now I have a personal theory that the eruption of CuVi could trigger a chain reaction, causing multiple volcanoes around the world to erupt. (The Yellowstone supervolcano has been causing earthquake swarms over the past few months, as has CuVi. A volcano in Mexico that has been dormant for some time has started acting up again. There have been earthquakes throughout the Pacific Rim - also known as the Ring of Fire, where most of the volcanoes of the world are concentrated, many of them under the ocean. Such a chain reaction set off by CuVi could cause at least two prophecies to come to pass: the three days of darkness, caused by the tons of volcanic ash in the air; multiple volcanoes erupting at once could pour enough toxic gases into the air to make it dangerous to leave your house, or even to open a window. I'm not sure why only blessed candles would work, though, unless it's related to a too-high concentration of carbon dioxide in the air to allow a fire to burn. That's sheer guesswork on my part, though.
.
God bless.

Interesting post JMC (as anon).

It wouldnt make sense, as you point out, for one candle to burn but not another and we do, after all, live in the real world.
I wonder if the light from the 'blessed candles' is metaphorical? It could mean that the only way out of the situation is highlighted by scripture/the Church/Priests?

Again, while the volcano chain-reaction is intriguing I wonder how much of 'the darkness' is metaphor, at least in part?
Looking through the Prophecy to the resolution, I'm not sure that a global chain reaction of volcanic eruptions would only last for 3 days, or be safe after 3 days and the Prophecies do say 3 days.

Unfortunately as 2 Peter 3:8 says "But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day."

I don't have any blessed candles in my home; could that potentially, even as flawed as I am I hope to be able to consider myself a faithful son of the Church, at risk as far as my soul is concerned, or rather just my mortality? I'm a little embarrassed to admit I don't know a lot when it comes to the three days of darkness.

Also, in the interests of full disclosure, living where I do with a very large portion of the population descended from Ukrainians, I do go to Ukrainian Catholic Mass on a non-infrequent occasion, which might colour my viewpoint somewhat as seeing Eastern Rite churches not in full communion with the Catholic Church as deficient despite the validity of their sacraments, etc. But be assured, my concerns about Russia are not whatever based on political considerations, but by the role Russia plays and looms large in so much eschatological Catholic prophecy... I'm a social democrat and a Keynesian economist truth be told, which I'm sure wouldn't endear me politically to many followers of Emmett's writing, but places me quite far from being any sort of Neocon to be sure.

Thanks for the great post, Emmett! It's nice to get a refresher as well as get reoriented regarding where we're at now that St. Michael's lent and the Woman Clothed with the Sun are over. I'd like to note that not only did the first swarm of tremors begin on Oct. 7 (Our Lady of the Rosary), but a second swarm began on Oct. 13! Even while keeping a detailed list of current events I was blind to this observation until your post.

In a time where everyone is calling for the end of the world, your timeline brings consolation and hope while still acknowledging how bad things will get. As usual, your theory makes perfect sense. Now time for speculation: The renewal of the Church may begin in 2020, with England at the front. From your post, it seems that the U.S.A. will also play a major role. The next U.S. presidential election is November 3, 2020 (just after All Soul's Day, interestingly). It seems that this will be very significant, as the next leader may be the one to usher the U.S. into Catholicism. Pres. Trump seems to be increasingly open to Christian, even Catholic, ideas (moreso than past leaders, at least--hopefully it's genuine), and his wife is already Catholic. Perhaps he will be fully converted and reelected. Perhaps it will be someone else.

I only have a vague recollection of the Great Monarch prophecies, but isn't he supposed to be French? Does this mean that he will literally rule France or that he has French blood? Could he, in fact, rule a different country? Is it possible that the Great Monarch could arise from England or U.S.? Pres. Trump is German, I think.

That's an interesting concept Virtue, I never considered it in that manner (refarding the Great Monarch). For example, and I am *not* putting him forward as an candidate for Great Monarch, to be sure, but my Prime Minister in Canada is both ethnically French and Catholic (though his personal Pro-Life views don't extend to his policy in government, which makes him to me to be luke-war at best, but just using Justin Trudeau for illustative purposes to fit in with your idea). Interesting...

And Bradanfeasa, I know we have our differences of opinion, but that makes your comment make me feel all better, thank you so much for that.

Jason R,

If Our Lady of Fatima had been primarily concerned with the ending of the East-West Schism, why did she wait until 1917? We did she only mention Russia? Russia wasn't the only Orthodox nation at that time.

The truth is that Our Lady of Fatima came at a very specific time and for a very specific reason: she appeared in 1917 which was not the year of the Schism but rather the year that CHRISTIAN Russia was hijacked by Jewish, atheist, anti-Christian revolutionaries - the ancestors of the very same group of people that have hijacked and now control the once-Christian West. These are the very same people that today promote hedonism, atheism, Zionism and continue to utilize the tools of "protests" and violent "color revolution" to achieve their goals that they perfected in 1917. The fact that today this very same group of revolutionaries continually demonizes Russia and Putin is entirely predictable for those serious students of Fatima and Russian history.

What I know of the Great Monarch is what I read in DuPont's book. I'm still not convinced that this is a prophecy worth taking too literally, but who knows.

But DuPont specifically point out, "35. David Poreaus (17th century). "The Great Monarch will be of French descent, large forehead, large dark eyes, light brown wavy hair and an eagle nose. He will crush the enemies of the Pope and will conquer the East."

"Comment: As said before, the great king will be of French descent, but not necessarily French in the narrow sense. Other prophecies mention his having German and Austrian blood as well. One thing seems certain; France will be the cradle of the counter-revolution, as it was the cradle of the revolution in the 18th century."

Much of what DuPont writes comes from a monk named Adso (10th century) and St. Francis of Paola (15th century). There are other sources too.

And from the Venerable Holzhauser (17th century): "There will rise a valiant king anointed by God. He will be a Catholic and a descendant of Louis IX, yet a descendant also of an old imperial German family, born in exile. He will rule supreme in temporal matters."

I'm not sure I buy into the entire Great Monarch thing myself, but regardless of that, it appears that he could be of French descent but not French. Which, to be honest, opens up a huge number of Americans and Canadians. The Louis IX bit is interesting, because that makes the Great Monarch a Capetian. They were succeeded by the Valois in the mid-14th century. Louis IX's mother - Blanch of Castille - was the granddaughter of Henry II and Elinor of Aquitaine, so you also have a connection between the Capetians and the Plantagenets of England, though I don't know if you could make a "descendant" tree to connect England that closely. But I suppose you could say that some in England would fit as well.

Think of it as a bell curve, with the curve itself as the probability of something happening. The 26th is the highest point in the curve. The 20th to maybe the 2nd would encompass the entire thing. but the upper third is from today through the 28th.

For it to matter, it would almost have to be something quite substantial, and it would likely have to impact the Church directly.

We'll see. It's probably nothing, but these days, who knows?

Holy Week and Passover are the same week. Perhaps this will be when there will be a mass conversion of the Jews? Could this be the time of the death of the two witnesses? Even if the devil is bound after 100 years of Pope Leo's vision, his seeds have been sown; the anti-Christ's abound.

Mark W said...

Ah, there is a connection between the Capetians and England. Edward II married Isabella of France (the "she-wolf of France" to some).

Isabella's father was Philip IV of France.

Philip IV's father was Philip III.

Philip III's father was Louis IX.

So, the later Plantagenets, Tudors, Stuarts, Hanovarians, and the modern House of Windsor, are all descended from Philip IX, as well as anyone that can claim lineage to any of these houses.

So this opens up even more people in the US and Canada, now England, as well as a large number of actual Frenchman. So, what's that, maybe 5% of the entire human population?

Great points on the Great Monarch Mark! Many people play the gu easing game, like, will it be the heir to the defunct Holy Roman Emperor, the grandson or maybe the great grandson of Otto von Habsburg, but as you kind if revealed Mark, the families of every single royal family in Europe are so tangled and intertwined with so so many offshoots and branches, the candidate for the Great Monarch could be thousands, if not tens tens of thousands of people. Ive sometumes thought if England is the great Northern European nation that converts (which I think is likely, the only other country that could maybe qualify in my mind is Sweden), the Prince William could be the one maybe (I know his mother and his maternal grandparents took him to Mass in his youth), but that's just a fanciful guess of mine.

As an aside, I'm reading a history of the Hundreds Years War right now called "A Great and Glorious Adventure" right now (that I wouldn't really recommend) that talks about in depth the dynastic struggle for the throne of France and goes into some detail about almost every person you mentioned, which I thought was pretty cool becayse up until a week ago I'd never even heard of any of these people other than Edward the I and II (from watching Braveheart, and The Black Prince mostly from his role at Crecy and then Poiters as well I believe.

Mark W said...

Actually, Jason, it's a bit more widespread even than that. There are loads of people that are related in this way that have nothing to do with titled families. For example, I was watching a documentary not long ago about Richard III. They tracked down someone that is actually related to Richard III (who would qualify as a descendant of Louis IX), and is now a cabinet maker in London named Michael Ibsen - and guess what, he's from Canada. He's a 17th generation nephew to Richard III, but he still counts. That puts him 20 generations from Louis IX.

So, technically, it could be anyone other than me. (I've done my family tree, and can safely rule myself out. I can trace back to a king of Wales, I think, but that's it. I honestly believe that I may be related to the inspiration for Falstaff, but that's a story for another day.)

And I studied this stuff in college. My undergrad advisor was a Cambridge PhD that could lecture for hours on medieval history without ever looking at notes. He'd walk into the room talking, having started the lecture in the hall, and when class was done he'd walk out of the room still lecturing. He was the most amazing professor I had.

As we're veering off form CuVi (for now) I'll throw in my tuppence worth on the GM.
I have written a lot about this character elsewhere and I think people are greatly mistaken about his background.
1 - I do not think this person is royal or connected to royalty in any way. H eis listed as being 'very poor' and 'born in exile'. He is not then, from the countries he reigns over nor is he 'royal'.

2 - I think many of the attributes given to him are metaphorical - a descendant of Pepin - means Charlemagne the first Holy Roman Emperor.

3 - It is also said that he 'Walks with a limp' and/or 'Princes foot impeded' and an 'angle touched the sinew of his hip' - This refers to Jacob wrestling with God at Peniel whereupon he gained Gods blessing and changed his name to 'Israel'. It also indicates someone struggling with their faith.

4 - Also because of this injury he 'Mounts his horse from wrong side' - this, to me, is a very big clue to his place of origin.

5 - The prophecies pertaining to the 3 days darkness and the 'sun rising in the West' also - I believe - involve the GM. Te 3 days darkness refers to his role in appointing the next Pope and the 'Sun Rising....' is another clue to his identity and rise; it will be after the 3 days darkness and he will be from......?
Emmett; Any ideas where you might find the auld sun in the West?

Do cadet branches count? What about illegitimate lines of descent? If you figure those into the equation, it could be literally anyone. It's been determined that almost everyone can trace his family tree back to one monarch or another. Suppose Louis IX had an illegitimate child (just for example; not saying he did). While legally, and for inheritance purposes, that child doesn't count, he's still biologically a descendant of Louis IX, and so are that child's descendants. Let's expand the field even further and consider female lines of descent, which generally didn't count either. In short, considering biological terms instead of legal/inheritance terms, I think that broadens the range of possibilities to much more than just 5% of the world population.

Japan?

I know there was something I read long ago, about Japanese cavalry with bows mounting from the right, and without bows mounting from the left. (Or was it the other way around? Honestly, this stretches even my Trivial Pursuit abilities!) But I always understood that to be legend more than fact. (Samurai were samurai, whether they were bowed or un-bowed.) Add the rising sun...Japan.

But I think Asia is entirely ruled out based on the whole Louis IX thing.

Of course, the whole thing could be metaphor, in which case it could be anything.

This is part of the reason I don't get too excited about either the Great Monarch or the Angelic Pope. Too many variations on a common theme. If you take this to its logical extreme, it could literally be anybody but me.

And if I wasn't clear, MR, what I've written above supports your first point completely.

JMC said...

Following the trivia line here, considering the prophecy that gives a physical description of the GM (large forehead, light brown wavy hair, large dark eyes, eagle nose), "Mounts his horse from the wrong side" could also simply mean he's left-handed. The practice of mounting on the animal's left side goes back to the days of swords. A right-handed fighter carries his sword on his left side, and draws it across his body. You don't want to have to swing that leg over the horse's back when you're mounting, so you mount so your right leg - the one without the encumbrance - is he one that's swinging over the horse's back. A left-handed fighter would have to mount on the other side, because his sword would be hanging down his right leg, so his left leg would be the one that's unencumbered. While swords have gone the way of the dodo bird outside of a few special interest groups, we retain the practice of mounting as if we were still carrying them.

There are so many spurious prophecies concerning the GM. I suspect some of them were deliberately concocted for reasons of political intrigue, rather then stemming from popular piety. I would write off a lot of the prophecies contained in Dupont's booklet as bogus. I've tried my best to find the original sources of many of these prophecies, and have ended up being flummoxed. I would dismiss the GM prophecies completely if St. Bonaventure had not weighed in on this matter. Also, the fact that the GM features in the original secrets of La Salette lends further credence. The earliest of these prophecies stretch all the way back to the Apocalypse of St. Methodius and the Tiburtine Sibyl. But it would be naïve to think that some of these prophecies were not manipulated in some way to bolster the political ascendency of the particular nation from which they emanated. Propaganda is not a recent innovation.

Disclaimer*** This whole post should be read as revealing nothing more than 'how MightyRighty reads and interprets things'.***

Okay, I should clarify something - It is my personal belief that many prophecies are very, very clever and subtle in their meaning.
Remember for example, the St Malachy Papal prophecies where very often the name, Papal name, coat of arms and/or place of origin can be derived from just one line?
I believe this to be the case with many of the 'current time' prophecies.

As an example of this I cite the limping/ impeded foot/ hip sinew/ wrong side prophecies from various different sources.
They all appear to point to the same characteristic, and on the surface they do.
However, as I have mentioned there is a direct reference to Jacob and his wrestling with God/Angel on Peniel. At the end of this he is anointed King by God and changes his name to Israel. He is the precursor of all anointed monarchs.
So this says that (1) he will be chosen by God.

The limping also highlights the difficulty and handicaps he has faced. This is echoed in the 'very poor' and 'long period of disappointment' qualities that are attributed by other writers. So the limp also means (2) He has had a very hard life.

The third meaning is that he is spiritually weak, not a totem of purity or innocence.
(3) So while he may be Catholic he may not be practising or struggles or has lapsed with his faith.

My final analysis is that 'mounting his horse from the wrong side' is a very tongue-in-cheek reference to his 'limp'. Because his left hip is damaged and weak he cannot mount a horse on the left - as is normal. He mounts it on the right hand side.
I smile at this one because it (fairly obviously) points to the fact that he will come from the UK - where you drive on the left but enter your car on the right.
So (4)'he mounts his horse on the 'wrong' side' tells you that will come from England.

FWIW - I have looked into many different folk tales and legends about this character too, from across Wales, France, Ireland, Germany, Scotland and England. This is how I splice the 'clues' together.

EO'R is correct to be sceptical of many of these resources and while many are from unapproved sources I think there is sufficient cultural and historical background to at least consider them.

So before I continue I want to emphasise that this analysis is my opinion only.
It is not fact and is open to interpretation, correction and outright rejection.

The GM is also reffered to variously as the 'lily' and the 'white flower'.
Again these are not the same thing but tell us an awful lot about him.
Here for example is the flag of Brussels https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_of_the_Brussels-Capital_Region
So now you know that the GM is referred to as both Charlemagne and as one of the power centres of the EU.
The lily also refers to royalty; but remember true 'Royalty' is conferred by God.

So again, one little phrase can, when researched, reveal a lot more.
It all depends on how you understand metaphor and symbolism - none of this is straight forward.

Disclaimer*** So once again, this whole post should be read as revealing nothing more than 'how MightyRighty reads and interprets things'. I make no claim to any special knowledge or insight***

Trump and Putin are the only two serious contenders for the Great Monarch. There is a high likelihood that both are descended from European royalty: Putin is said to have origins in the Tver region, which would mean he is related to all of European royalty; Trump most likely has some royal German blood flowing in his veins. I would put more weight on Putin. He nearly singlehandedly restored Russia to her Christian roots. And he rules like the Czars (aka “Kings”) of old, defending Christianity at home and abroad. There isn’t another ruler alive right now that can match Putin in terms of ACTIONS in defense of Christianity, particularly in the Middle East. Had Putin not intervened in Syria at the request of Assad (who is not the monster the Neocons have painted him to be and who has the full support of the Catholic bishops of Syria), it is quite possible that there would not be any Christians or Catholics to speak of in Syria - the cradle of Christianity. Russia sacrificed their sons and daughters in Syria in defense of Christianity while at the same time the Antichristian forces in the U.S., Israel, and Saudi Arabia were covertly arming and funding these demonic so-called “Syrian Rebels.” Netanyahu’s actions in Syria are quite strange: you will note that Israel never, never bombs “ISIS” but has plenty of bombs for the Christian-protecting Assad and the Syrian regular Army. This fact alone would make Netanyahu a prime contender for the Antichrist. Of course, just raising that possibility might get you branded a “anti-Semite” by the Antichristian thought-police. Obama would also be a prime contender for the Antichrist (waiting now in the wings until the demise of the Great Monarch) being that it was under Obama’s direction that we went into Syria on the side of the demonic, anti-catholic “Syrian Rebels.” Obama’s covert actions in the Middle East (beginning in Libya and continuing during the Arab “Spring”) have been responsible for the worse persecution of Christians and Catholics since the days of Nero. Some would say that what happened in Syria and across the Middle East during Obama’s reign of terror is much worse than what happened in the days of Nero. And all this would tie into what Saint Faustina said in her approved private revelation: that the Second Coming is close and that the Divine Mercy Devotion was to prepare us for the Second Coming.

As for the “limp,” it would probably have both a spiritual and material manifestation. I would note that both Trump and Putin have “limp” impediments: Putin walks with an odd gait, almost like he has a problem with his hip; and Trump we know got a medical deferrement during Vietnam because he has a problem with one of his feet. The spiritual manifestation could be that while neither Putin or Trump are Catholic, both are moving in the right direction: Putin is Orthodox and as such already has full access to the Sacraments, and while Putin is divorced, there is no real evidence that he remarried; Trump on the other hand lived what could be called a sinful life in his youth but now appears to be moving in the right direction and has a Catholic “wife” to lead him in the right direction.

Awhile ago I read that Illegitimate offspring of noble families in Russia were often given cut names...a quote from a quick web search (not my original source) "For example, Russian writer Pnin was an illegitimate son of Field Marshal Repnin. There were lots of other occasions like that – Betskoy instead of Trubetskoy, Gribov instead of Griboyedov. The new names of unofficial clan branches were formed by means of deduction: a syllable was simply taken out of it."

Now think: Rasputin
And then: Putin

Considering the many wild rumors about Rasputin and the affairs with Aristocrat women...could Putin be the product of that? And then be an heir to some European throne ala GM? Or could there be something darker, some strain of evil mixed with Occult/Rasputin?

I share your anxiety about the state of the Church in Ireland. However, it is worth pointing out that we have been here before… In the period between the Battle of Clontarf in 1014 and the Norman invasion of 1169, the Church in Ireland suffered to such an extent that some parts of the country reverted to paganism. Divorce, allowable under Brehon Law, was rampant and the Brehon Law interpretation of what constituted marriage was largely incompatible with the Christian Sacrament. Indeed, I remember reading a quote from a Norman writer (maybe the disreputable racist Giraldus Cambrensis) along the lines that “the Irish trade women as other men trade horses”; but this may well have been nothing more than Norman propaganda to justify a medieval land grab. The good news is that the reforms of St Malachy (the saint of the famous prophecies) reformed the Church to orientate it away from the monasticism of the previous 600+ years towards a diocesan organisation. In addition, the Normans themselves brought the Cistercians along with them. Together with the arrival of the Franciscans, these changes largely restored the Church.

Since then, we have had major periods of lax morality and ambivalence to Christianity, not to mention the outright persecution of Catholics from the 1530s until circa 1800. On one day in the early 1650s, twenty odd Irish priests were auctioned into slavery (to Barbados I think) at the docks in Galway! The Church in Ireland recovered from all these trials and arose triumphant. There is a prophecy attributed to St Patrick, where he saw the faith in Ireland from the 5th century until the end of the world. The fire of Christianity almost dies out (embers only), but some figure from the North East (maybe the Archbishop of Armagh) rekindles the fire and it ends up burning more intensely than ever. I don’t know if the prophecy is at all reliable and even if it is, whether or not is refers to some time in the past. But it gives me some comfort.

The last point I’ll make is that God can change the future with just one person. Apart from the obvious example of Jesus, consider the state of the Church in the time of St Francis. In a few years he largely restored the Church and started a movement that grew rapidly and eventually spread all over the world. Indeed during the worst of the persecutions in Ireland, from 1650 – 1750, a handful of brave Franciscans and others kept the faith alive here.

All we can do is pray!

Regards,
Bradanfeasa

I seem to recall (and I apologize for not having a source, it could have been in the Birch book) that just as in the days of St. Aidan and St. Patrick evangelizing Ireland from England, and then the Irish acted to evangelize England back in later years whne it was falling away from the Faith, that the same type of cross-evangelization is prophesied to happen again, with England re-evangelizing Ireland once England is restored as a nation to the bosom of the Church.

I apologize if I am mis-remembering this, but I'm almost positive that I read this *somewhere*, and the Birch text is so exactingly thorough that I'm guessing it was there, though, again, I could be wrong.

Emmett, do you recall anything along the lines of what I seem to be remembering reading somewhere as above?

Thanks Bradanfeasa! I was just thinking of the prophecy of the "light in Ulydia" in answer to Bob Ryan's question. This prophecy is attributed to St. Patrick himself, and is fairly reliable in the fact that it was recorded by the English hagiographer Jocelyn of Furness in his vita on the Patron of Ireland, composed around the turn of the 13th century. Jocelyn of Furness stayed for a duration of time in Inch Abbey in Downpatrick, near the burial place of St. Patrick, and undoubtedly had access to materials on the saint's life that are now lost to history. The ruins of Inch Abbey are set in quite beautiful riverside settings, just outside Downpatrick itself, and I would thoroughly recommend a visit to anyone making a pilgrimage to St. Patrick's grave. Any time I'm at Inch Abbey, I always think of how Jocelyn of Furness must have composed his vita on St. Patrick at this very location, and although the abbey itself now lies in ruins, the writings of Jocelyn live on.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inch_Abbey

To me, it is quite obvious that the "light in Ulydia" is a reference to St. Malachy himself, who as Bradanfeasa rightly states, restored the Church in Ireland during the Middle Ages. St. Malachy was the Abbot of Bangor Abbey, which lies to the north and east of Ireland, as the prophecy stipulates. Bangor Abbey was one of the most important monastic sites in Ireland, and it was from here that St. Columbanus and St. Gall helped to re-evangelise Western Europe. I'm not sure if this prophecy has a meaning outside of St. Malachy's restoration of the Irish Church, but many people associate it with the current plight of Catholicism in Ireland. I've written about this prophecy before:

http://unveilingtheapocalypse.blogspot.co.uk/2013/03/st-patricks-prophecy-of-great-apostasy.html

As Jason says, there is also the fact that Ireland was foretold to play a pivotal role in the conversion of England in the prophecy of St. Malachy discovered at Clairvaux Abbey by Dom Mabillion in the 18th century. You were correct in remembering that you read about this in Desmond Birch's Trial, Tribulation & Triumph, Jason. You can find it in pp307-309.

This is the relevant text of the prophecy below:

"And the man of God anxiously desired and earnestly prayed that he might be certified of the present and the future state of Hibernia, to the end that he might be assured of the faith, or of the value that his labors bore in the sight of God. Then the Lord heard the desire of his heart, and manifested the same unto him by an evident revelation; for while he was engaged in prayer, and the heart of his mind was opened, he beheld the whole island as it were a flaming fire ascending unto heaven; and he heard the angel of God saying unto him: "Such at this time is Hibernia in the sight of the Lord." And after a little space he beheld in all parts of the island even as mountains of fire stretching unto the skies. And again after a little space he beheld as it were candles burning, and after a while darkness intervened; and then he beheld fainter lights, and at length he beheld coals lying hidden here and there, as reduced unto ashes, yet still burning. And the angel added: "What thou seest here shown, such shall be the people of Hibernia." Then the saint, exceedingly weeping, often repeated the words of the Psalmist, saying: "Whether will God turn himself away for ever, and will he be no more entreated? Shall his mercy come to an end from generation to generation? Shall God forget to be merciful, and shut up his mercy in his displeasure?" And the angel said, "Look toward the northern side, and on the right hand of a height shalt thou behold the darkness dispersed from the face of the light which thenceforth will arise." Then the saint raised his eyes, and behold, he at first saw a small light arising in Ulydia, the which a long time contended with the darkness, and at length dispersed it, and illumined with its rays the whole island. Nor ceased the light to increase and to prevail, even until it had restored to its former fiery state all Hibernia. Then was the heart of the saint filled with joy, and his heart with exultation, giving thanks for all these things which had been shown unto him: and he understood in the greatness of this fiery ardor of the Christian faith the devotion and the zeal of religion, wherewith those islanders burned."

Just noticed something interesting about St. Columba of Iona while researching the above material (who it should be noted is different from St. Columbanus):

"In the Irish language his name means 'dove', which is the same name as the Prophet Jonah (Jonah in Hebrew is also 'dove'), which Adomnan of Iona as well as other early Irish writers were aware of, although it is not clear if he was deliberately named after Jonah or not."

"Columbia" is the female personification of America, derived from the name of its discoverer, Christopher Columbus. So it's interesting that the name is derived from the Latin word for "dove" - Columbidae, which is also behind the Hebrew root of the name Jonah. Coincidence?

There will be 1,290 days between September 23, 2017 (Rev. 12) and 04/04/2021, which is Easter. In the year 2021
Holy Week and Passover are the same week. Perhaps this will be when there will be a mass conversion of the Jews? Could this be the time of the death of the two witnesses? Even if the devil is bound after 100 years of Pope Leo's vision, his seeds have been sown; the anti-Christ's abound.

Is this supposed to be 1260 days.

Is it important that it ends on Easter. Does all this indicate that Francis and Benedict are the two witnesses who will be martyred half way through the 1260 days.

Could this period leading up to Easter in 2021 indicate mark a period when the church will go through a period of trial corresponding to the passion of Jesus.

Sitting slightly drunk at my computer. Totally blown apart by your site, many thanks for the incredible information you have shared with us all Emmett.

Jason R,

The only “bully” here is you with your constant anti-Russian and anti-Putin propaganda. As a Catholic I won’t sit by and listen to your lies on the Christian-defending Putin and Russia without fighting back. You claim to be a “paleocon” yet you parrot Team Neocon’s Freemason-approved talking points on Russia and Putin. You ain’t foolin me. Your bully tactics here include peddling the lie that Putin has journalists murdered, the lie that Russia is preparing for an invasion of Europe, the lie that Russia’s actions in Crimea were not justified. You also abuse certain private revelations, using them as a fearmongering weapon against Putin and Russia. But never a word from Jason R spoken against the real criminals and villains: the Neocons who covertly and violently overthrew the democratically-elected leader of Ukraine in 2014 and installed a criminal, illegitimate, neo-Nazi Junta in his place, against the will of ordinary Ukrainians. That criminal Junta in Kiev is being supported by U.S. tax dollars and is engaged in an ongoing punitive war of genocide against the people of the Donbass, where thousands of innocent civilians, mostly Christian women and children, have been killed or sex-trafficked back to the West. It’s obvious you have a hidden agenda here, Jason R, with your nonstop attacks on Putin. You must not be an American. You see, here in America, we are used to the nonstop Putin lies and bashing since they were first peddled by Hillary Clinton’s State Department and then by the DNC during the 2016 election. Here in America we can spot these lies very quick and it was largely because of Obama’s criminal, covert actions against Ukraine (and Hillary Cinton’s support of these actions and policies) that we decided to elect Trump. But, thankfully, the tables are finally being turned on those who have peddled the Big Lie on Russia and Ukraine. I just hope you are on the right side when the dust settles, Jason R.

Dear Anonymous follower of St. Putin,

Just to let you know, I read exactly 5 words of your latest diatribe against me, and that was it.

I don't know why I've become such an obsession of yours, but I thought it only fair to let you know that anything you write directed at me isn't being read by me, so, certainly, please feel free to continue if it gives you some strange satisfaction to do so, but also know anything you write directed at me for my apparent benefit will be words absolutely wasted.

And, yes, you absolutely are the very definition of a bully; I'm quite sure both the tone and content of what you write trying to shut down *any* legitimate discussion of the eschatological role of Russia according to Catholic prophecies and your extreme and personal attacks e.g. towards TC are not winning any converts to your point of if view.

If I may, as a way of ending any further dialogue with you whatsoever, just something for you to ponder; you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar, and, very frankly, absolutely bizarre and completely unhinged ad hominem attacks, and a complete absence of any attempt at Charity are definitely not helping your cause.

Emmett, thanks for the location in Desmond Birch's book that I was trying to remember, and the link to your previous blog post on this subject, going there right now to check it out!

Emmett – thanks for posting that quote from the Life of St. Patrick and to Jason for the reference to the Birch Book.

The phrase "…the devotion and the zeal of religion, wherewith those islanders burned" is not just evidenced by the golden age of Ireland during the three centuries after St Patrick, but contemporarily by the incredible work of Irish missionaries over the last 150 years. I have known a few of them myself and have always been deeply impressed by their humility and commitment to spreading the Gospel to what used to be called the 3rd world. A modern, secular and cynical Ireland has never given these people the immense credit that they deserve. They were and are all true sons and daughters of St Patrick, leaving behind everything to follow Christ (the green martyrdom). Their lives and faithfulness should give us some hope for the future.

@Bob Ryan

You're most welcome, though my answer was a pretty ancillary one at best I think...

Though my wife and I are now separated unfortunately, she is a country girl who grew up on a dairy farm near Mountmellick, Co. Laois, and while now a Canadian citizen, is an exceptionally fierce patriot. Our kids were always embarrassed (or maybe mortified is a better word) when a very large 16' by 10' (!) Tricolour (as well as smaller Starry Plough and flag of Leinster) flew in front of our house (or rather, almost completely covered the front of our house 3 times a year: Easter Monday, St. Patrick's Day, and on February 1st in honour St. Brigid.

She made sure I became immersed in Irish culture, prompting me to read books such as a complete history of Ireland that ran into the thousands of pages, "How The Irish Saved Civilization", and many more, taught me to be a fairly competent tin whistle and bodhrán player (and made sure I knew how to pronounce it properly, haha, and many more words and phrases in Irish), how to play all the various traditional songs for the many, many céilís we attended with the girls, learning all the dances and eventually getting my guitar and mandolin playing up enough to join the band, and it goes on and on. I think what I taught her as a first-generation Canadian whose family were all Austrian about my culture would fit in a thimble compared to the swimming pool of all things Irish. She even made me become a fan of Conor McGregor haha (and during any of his matches, up went the flags again!).

So though I don't have a drop of Irish blood in me, and we're no longer together (though not divorced or seeking any annulment), I still have this feeling that I'm a bit of at least an honourary Irish person. I'm still fascinated with the culture and history and it is my greatest dream to someday visit there, even above going to visit the village my mom and dad's family lived for countless generations.

My biggest failing was (through family tradition, my parents, my mother's parents, my sister, and my brother all got married on the same date) in my choosing of the day of our wedding, something I wish she would have told me but I guess she didn't want to break this one tradition that my family had. As a mutual best friend of ours (my former high school English Literature teacher) had walked her up the aisle, when he handed her hand to mind, he also squeezed my other hand tightly, and whispered through clenched teeth into my ear, "Jason, what were you bloody well thinking, forcing a good Irish girl to get married on the 12th of July?!?"... and then it hit me, lol... as if I wasn't nervous enough at the time, haha.

So, very much YES, MAY GOD BLESS IRELAND!!!

Emmett, I'm sorry for (yet again) asking a question completely OT, an I think I probably asked this already of you way back when while reading the first edition of your book (I'm almost sure), so I'm sorry to ask you to repeat yourself for the benefit of my admittedly bad memory, and this question very well might be answered within the new edition of your book (or likely even the first), but I'm struggling with the idea of a Marian Era of Peace vs. the misguided and heretical belief in millennialism (or maybe more properly millenarianism, I'm not sure which term would be more applicable, argh, I'm not doing very good on my brevity already. but...

If the idea of any "paradise on Earth" scenarios prior to the actual Second Coming of Our Lord are heretical, how does the Marian Era of Peace promised at Fatima, or the idea that under the Great Monarch and (possibly?) the Angelic Pope there will be temporary (and possibly very short) sort of paradise on Earth where all nations will be Catholic, no more wars, etc., between the time between the end of the GM's military triumph(s) and when he lays down his sceptre in Jerusalem just prior to his death... is that sort of a type of millennialist/millenarianist heresy in believing in that? Will this sort of paradisaical reign under the GM be expected to be completely world-wide?

I'm just trying to reconcile in my own mind the difference between the stated heresy of m/m and either/or the Marian Era of Peace and/or the seemingly idyllic reign under the GM. Is the difference between the two a matter of degrees, assuming that Our Lord would not have already physically returned to Earth (other than in the Holy Sacrament of course) under either scenario? Or is that the defining difference, Our Lord's physical presence ruling His kingdom directly on Earth (the pre-judgment Earth). I'm trying to consider CCC 676 and the scriptural quotes in the intro to the new edition of UTA in figuring out the difference, but they seem to me just to make the answer foggier to me. Thanks in advance for re-answering my most likely already-asked question (and searched some of your blog entries on the GM and AP to see if it would clarify things for me, but they didn't seem to).

cont...

Jason R. said...

...cont.

I'm sorry to waste your time on this as if I checked the forums and past blog entries more thoroughly I may have been able to reconcile this without bugging you about it, but I thought if I was trying to understand the distinction then likely a few other people may have wondered about it as well without seeing the answer I think you may have already given me, so it wouldn't be a complete waste of your time.

p.s. Do you mind the OT questions in the comments sections of unrelated blog posts? I make them a lot I think and I don't want to be like an annoying mosquito buzzing about you, haha... but honestly, if these OT questions clog up the forums or force you to repeat yourself (I know how exhausting that can be), please don't worry about hurting my feelings or anything if I shouldn't be going so far asunder from the particular topic at hand.

p.p.s. Since I'm mostly in bed all day and have plenty of time for reading, and I'm not even sure if this would be helpful or necessary in any case, but if I come across what seems like an obvious missed word or something (e.g. page 12 paragraph 2 sentence 2, I think a "the" or possibly "an" is missing in "This is essentially approach we shall..." between the words "essentially" and "approach", would it be at all helpful to be kind of a free editor if I spot any more of these? /

I'm not trying to be a brown-noser or suck-up here, haha, I just have plenty of time on my hands so that if I'm reading the book and find something really obviously missing in a word or two (I wouldn't consider any grammar because I'm not the best at that myself, usually my comments consist of run-on sentences that can last nearly a page!), but it wouldn't be any trouble for me to just have a notepad handy to mark down page, line, and word number type format while I'm reading if that's at all helpful?

Ahh, I hope this isn't imposing too much to make a prayer request for anyone who has the inclination... I'm in very desperate financial straights regarding the sale of a home right now that my estranged wife won't lower the price under $250k but has also just breeched our separation agreement and told me she won't be paying any more towards the costs of the mortgage, taxes, insurance, utilities, etc., so I'm in a real bind that I only have enough money coming in to cover the bills coming very soon at the end of the month, but after that I won't have enough to do that and still have money for my medications. I'm in a real bind, and have been asking for St. Joseph the Workers intercession... I haven't needed the prayers of others this much since I was in a bad car accident and came close to death when I was 19, otherwise I'm not sure what I will do.

Their are potential buyers coming tomorrow morning to look at the place... I so desperately hope them to be the ones as our local housing market has collapsed when oil and gas and potash prices did, it's been almost a year now, but this is a very tough crisis for me.

This is the prayer I've been saying... I am a huge believer in intercessionary prayers, I have seen them work miracles that can't be explained by any natural processes at all otherwise, so if any of you could join me in this prayer it would mean so much to me:

O, St. Joseph, whose protection is so great, so strong so prompt before the Throne of God, we place in you all our interests and desires.

O, St. Joseph, do assist us by your powerful intercession, and obtain for us from your Divine Son all spiritual blessings through Jesus Christ, Our Lord.

So that, having engaged here below your Heavenly power we may offer our Thanksgiving and Homage to the most Loving of Fathers.

O St. Joseph, we never weary contemplating you, and Jesus asleep in your arms, just as we have held little ones in our own.

We dare not approach while He reposes near your heart. Press Him in our names, and kiss His fine Head for us, and ask Him to return the Kiss when we draw our dying breaths.

:

St. Joseph, Patron of families and of homes, pray that someone will find Jason's home as loving a place as he and the girls and Martina once did, and that both he and Martina can move on to their new homes to honour you, and your foster-son, Jesus Christ.

In the name of the Father,
and of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit,
Amen.

Thanks so much, and sorry if this is one of those posts that clog up the comments section, but I am truyly in a rather desperate situation right now and need all the prayers I can get, and I have a feeling a very good deal of the people who read or comment here have their ears very close to Our Lord, Our Lady, and all the Saints in Heaven.

Thank you all so, so much... and with you Bob Ryan, I'll definitely take you up on that offer if my means and health ever allow, I would so much to see all the places in Ireland I've been told and read so much about before I pass on.

And though I just can't see a reconciliation between my wife and I ever happening after all that has gone on (even my parish priest said after much couple and individual councilling that while always keeping a small window open for a chance of some future reconciliation, that unless there are huge changes in either her or my personalities, any relationship between us could be nothing but extremely toxic and harmful to us both; to the one being abused to suffer so needlessly, and the abuser to persist in their ways to their deep detriment).... but I still so appreciate those prayers Bob, and, again, to all of you!! I really mean it when I say that I feel like I am being given the best gifts any people in the entire world have ever given to me, and though the clock is ticking into the middle of November when I will be in very dire financial straights if this place can't see before then, I have a real secure trust in Our Lord that He will shower blessing and grace on me no matter what happens, even if I lose everything and will be, well, homeless, which could be a very distinct possibility in less than a month, that it will all be to help me in some way in my greater journey and destiny to hopefully make it to Heaven one day.

The showing today didn't evolve into an offer, but the comments from the realtor were that the husband really wanted to make an offer and loved the place (and the price), but for the wife it just wasn't happening. But it's still the most positive feedback yet, and I think God, if it's His will that there is the right buyer out there, and He's just waiting to set them loose on making an offer on this house, haha, He is teaching me to have more patience, more fidelity and faith in my prayer life and not to be so shy to ask others to pray for me, and to have a more unshakable hope, rather than one that feels crushed with every little bit of news that isn't entirely positive, all as my life lessons right now that maybe I have to learn first as a prerequisite to what Our Lord so badly wants to give to me freely, as well of standing up for myself when treated so badly so many times, a huge breakthough, too... I so wrongly understood turning the other cheek, until my spiritual advisor taught me about what St. Paul teaches on that in Acts, and about the 3rd Spiritual Work of Mercy. That without balance, how turning the other cheek so much that you encourage someone to persist in their sin and thereby impede their own spiritual growth in an active way, and how that unbalanced teaching leaves so many mired in very abusive relationships, and breed the disease of codependency that affects not just the husband and wife, but infects the children setting them up to "catch" the generational disease of being codependent, almost dooming them to the fate of ending up in abusive or addictive marriages as well.

But, anyways, I just know that Our Lord is bringing great things out of this for me, and I'd imagine for Martina, too, though her lessons may be different ones, or maybe the same as mine, too.... even if different seeds are just planted, though it is up to her whether she chooses to water any or all of them, or not, so that one or more can blossom into beautiful flowers someday.

Jason (the Greek healer), it looks like your 'Battle of the Boyne' started on the 12th July when you said "I Do" to Martina (The Roman mythological God of War. But you have the Sacred Heart of Jesus, His Mother, Saint Joseph and all the angels and saints on your side. As Padre Pio says: "Pray, hope and don't worry. Worry is useless. God is merciful and will hear your prayer."
Peter

Peter, thank you so much for that insight on our names... I needed to read that quote from Padre Pio so bad, right now. It just turned 4 am exactly and I was awake wracked with worry about the future right now. Reading Padre Pio words through you, I think I'll finally be able to try to get some sleep, thank your so much (and to you KM as well).

Thank you for sharing your struggles and wisdom Jason. Your suffering has been fruitful, as your post yesterday shows. Those dynamics of dysfunction are deep indeed and need exposure.

I believe Our Lord will take care of you. It's encouraging that you are using this period of uncertainty to deepen your trust in Him, as I believe all such periods of trial are for that express purpose.

Your brother,

My prayers are with you also Jason. You have been enduring so much suffering lately. Never abandon hope. I'll try to get round to answering your questions tomorrow. I've been preoccupied lately. If you could make a note of any errors you come across, that would be great. I hope to eventually get around to updating any minor errors such as these. I didn't have the money to hire an editor, so had to make do with editing the book myself. It's easy to look over typos if you are overly familiar with the text.

Hello emmett...from Brazil....once more im glad to have found your blog.
Can you help me with one small doubt?
Last mounth I visited the place of apparitions of our lady of all nations in Amsterdã. I bought a book with all the 56 messages in english and im translating to portuguese.
And I visited Fátima due to the centenary.
Man...the messages of the two apparitions are totally opposed differets, but both with logical credible. I could say a lot of things here but would take your time.
Can you tell me your point of view on this?
Thank you.

Hello Aprigio Melo,
I could say a lot about Ida Peederman and her purported apparitions of Our Lady of All Nations but will keep it brief.
These apparitions are false and are from preternatural and Freemason sources. One should steer clear of these. The Bishop of Harlem declared that they are not worthy of belief and this was confirmed by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. Despite this, the succeeding Bishop Punt of Harlem overruled the Holy Office (he cannot do this) and declared them worthy of belief.
Her full title in the Our Lady of All Nations prayer includes 'who was once Mary' should be enough to demonstrate falsity. Our Holy Mother was, is and will always be Mary, Mother of God.
With Christ's blessings

Michael G, thank you for posting this. I've been uncomfortable with that phrase "who was once Mary" for a long time, but until your post, I have never been able to find any information on whether or not this apparition was approved. Thanks again.

YES IT IS TOTALLY APPROVED, CHECK IT HERE:

THE ONLY PROBLEM IS THAT SINGLE PHRASE. YOU CAN PRAY BUT JUST DONT SAY IT!

Have a questions. Can only individuals sin, or can societies sin. For example, in the Book of Judges only a small group of Bejaminites rape a concubine. Yet the tribe is almost wiped out. Or if in society a democratically elected leader gets an unjust law passed and threatens punishments for obeying it? Are the sinners those who break the law, or those who watch silently in fear, thinking to be good citizens?

Anonymous said...

Aprigio,
The phrase 'who was once Mary' is not the only problem with these purported apparitions. It is one of many red flags.
The Miracle Hunter website offers little detail for the reader. So please do not think that website is definitive.

I have never read anything about these alleged "Our Lady of All Nations" apoaritions before, and I have used miraclehunter before as a resource, so thank you for the background information so I know to stay clear.

Incidentally, and fortuitously, as I have been wondering lately what the promised triumph of Our Lady of Fatima's Immaculate Heart may entail, there is an front-page leading article about just that in the Autumn issue of "Marian Helper", the magazine/journal of the Marian Fathers of the Immsculkate Conception entitled "All Heart" that I found quite illuminating.

The magazine has been kicking around my place for a while already (I'm not a member if the Association of Marian Helpers, my wife is, so this magazine is addressed to her but she hasn't picked up her mail for quite awhile), so it is a bit of a fluke that I had access to and read the article at all. While I'm not at all claiming that this is a definitive nor authoritative answer to the question, I'd still highly recomme nd the article to anyone likje me that has a curiosity on the subject matter.

I unfortunately couldn't find the article at their website nation.org (which, as an aside, is a great resource in any case, particularly on the topics of The Immaculate Heart and The Divine Mercy), but if anyone has access to the magazine proper I couldn't recommend their article "All Heart: What Would The Triumph of Mary's Immaculate Heart Look Like?" highly enough... I found it so insightful, and it answered many questions I had in my head and heart about this matter so very well. It doesn't seem to be a mere coincidence that the magazine and that article in particular pretty much fell into my lap just as I was pondering potential answers that the article hapoened to provide!

INFANT OF PRAGUE NOVENA PRAYER

O Jesus, Who has said, "Ask and you shall receive, seek and you
shall find, knock and it shall be opened," through the
intercession of Mary, Your Most Holy Mother, I knock, I seek, I
ask that my prayer be granted.

(Make your request)

O Jesus, Who has said, "All that you ask of the Father in My Name,
He will grant you," through the intercession of Mary Your Most
Holy Mother, I humbly and urgently ask your Father in your name
that my prayer will be granted.

(Make your request)

O Jesus, Who has said, "Heaven and earth shall pass away but My
word shall not pass away," through the intercession of Mary Your
Most Holy Mother, I feel confident that my prayer will be granted.

P.S. Just for fun today, my profile picture is of my 4 year old son who went as Dracula to his halloween party at school. Haha! I hope it puts a smile on your face! It did mine! Happy Halloween!

Thanks again for all the prayers, definitely saying the Infant of Prague Novena also just to try to force the thing out if my thoughts, I'm obsessing about it out if control and can't sleep or eat for days, I'm a real wreck right now. Even praying the Chaplet or Rosary can't chase away these worries even for a brief respite. It feels like I've actually evedn forgotten *how* to sleep. I don't mean to complain but I'm also having trouble with suicidal ideation that I don't want but it's like I can't chase the ide a out if my own head.

Mark W., please don't take thus wrong bevause I only pray and wish for the best for every one who comments here, but knowing I'm not the only one in the same boat makes me feel a small bit better, I guess in a misery loves company way maybe... it just makes me feel a little less alone in what I'm facing down. I'll pray for you a lot as well especially... when someone else like you is facing a problem I immediately want to tell you don't guve up hope, hang in there, Romans teaches us that the arrows of our ebelies will be turned into blessings in all ways and things I seem to recall (I may be paraphrasing a while lot) to those called according to His purpose, and that definitely would include you Mark W.! If only I could better heed my own words, I feel myself likje in an icy road with a car sliding diwn, brakes locked, picking up speed uncontrollably with nothing to be done down into a major depressive episode I fear. I feel the anxiety like before writing a final exam that counts for y o.j. ur edntire year-long Mark, the nervous shuffling outside the door before the test begins. I've discovered that many clauses in my separation agreement (such as disclosure just as an example... I've found out that my estranged wife hoarded over probably 200k or so during the last two years of our marriage when I was much too ill to notice, and she lied when disclosing her assets as of our official separation date, but there's nothing I can do now, that two different lawyers told me any judge would find the culpability would lie with me for not doing my due diligence, but none for her. So I'm penalized for assuming some one was bargaining in good faith while sge isnt penalized whatsoever for lying in a contract and bargaining in bad faith, etc. even though i gave a clause thst says if its discovered that soneone didnt fully disclose assets the offending party would be responsible for legal fees, now I find out that that clauses well is compkeyely worthless.. it us so much different thid family law than the world I knew if bargain labour contracts when everything was so cut and dry and a vlause actually had to be followed.

I think that therexus a lesson in thus all... when the cult if death and no respect for life exists in a culture's laws, maybe the obscenity of that gravest of injustices is a for that spreads to many other areas if the law, erasing and justice from the judges and the enimfircemeng of just laws.

I called a suicide prevention hotline last night and it at least helped for awhile I'm so ashamed of my despair and my self pity... but I've asked Jesus so sincerely that with some if the unfair curveball I've had in my past with an abusive alcohol dad and a lovhung mom but who also had anger issues and would beat me, sexual assault befire I evedn knew what sex was, early health problems that has left me with thed spi be and arthritis of a 90 year old befire I'm 50 and knowing I'll be in a wheelchair within a decade, being bedridden for months at a time.... I know ur us very un-Christian to not take up your cross and follow Our Lord's path of suffering... but u can't help but feel, Lord, could you give me a little break in thus situation, and also so I'm better placed to carry out what you want if me. I need hope, I need hope so badly and I can't seem to find it and I'm frightened.

Praise Him for his glory, his goodness, his kindness, his mercy! Keep praising and praising and praising and praising him for hours if need be. Praise him for his beauty, his truth, his patience, his humility, his wisdom, his counsel, his understanding, his knowledge, his fortitude, his piety etc. etc. etc. Keep praising him and that will get endorphins going in your brain. Praise the Lord that He is in control. That He wills only good for us. That we know that in all things, he works for the good for those who love him. Praise Him out loud. Sing praises. Put on some praise and worship songs on the computer and praise along with the singers. Praise and thank him for healing you. Thank you, Lord, for healing and helping Jason, we pray this in the Holy Name of Jesus!

Very good words indeed Emmett. Jason, do reach out to the medical profession who can put you in touch with a mental health professional, if you haven't done so already. I suspect you might not have a therapist if you called a hotline. I suffered a nervous breakdown years ago. I won't go into the horror of it here. A mental health professional is essential. It took me 18 months to recover, with the help of initial medication and a great therapist. I would do anything to help even my worst enemy not go over the edge into the mental collapse I suffered. In a mental breakdown, the mind can't be used in a self-help fashion. So only another person can take our hand and lead us. Do not let things get that far - reach out!

https://therapists.psychologytoday.com/rms/

(In my opinion, find someone with lots of gray hair and life experience. Most will list their specialties, e.g. anxiety, bi-polar, depression...)

As an aside, despair is nothing to be ashamed of. And yes, we can be crushed beyond our strength. Praise God that few know the reality of the words below. Unfortunately, I do. I printed out a card and carry it in my wallet with me, and have for the last decade:

"We were so utterly, unbearably crushed beyond our strength that we despaired of life itself. We felt within ourselves that we had received the sentence of death, so that we might not trust in ourselves but in God, who raises the dead; he delivered us from so deadly a peril and will continue to do so." (2 Corinthians 1.9-10)

Elasmo, thank you for your courage in saying what everyone else was probably thinking but may have just been overly-polite not to tell me. I only intending my initial post it to be a prayer request because I don't have anyone left in my real life to reach out to anymore, but that isn't a my excuse for abusing the privilege of being a member of this loving and smart and insightful and just so amazing group of people who posts here in the comments section. I've always had problems with moderation in communicating after I was raped as a young boy on my eleventh birthday. In elementary school from Grade 4 on after the incident, I spent every recess working with a speech therapist to help me re-develop my communications skill after they had been completely erased from the trauma I experienced. I've made a real fool of myself here and being quite pathetic and so terribly needy in the complete wrong place to do that. If you could forgive me, I can tell you now I only acted out of such very sheer desperation, and also with a feeling that if I did not reach out to whoever I was able to I would not be alive today. I owe you all my very life.

And to Emmett, really, my biggest hero in my life right now, Emmett, because his prose is so incredibly engaging, and so somehow still so personable, in his writing, and the incredible knowledge on these subjects, it's just WOW... I have an IQ of 162 and still I'm completely astounded at the incredible breadth and depth of what Emmett knows, and probably taught himself even, and to me at least his writing style completely. The reader so subtly, yet so irresistibly, is to made to feel like it was just like him and the reader, metaphorically sitting across the table in a coffee shoppe and speaking right to you.

I'm a published writer and have never yet to have come close to achieving that very advanced sort of rapport your words establish with the reader, but having never yet achieved that level though my writing is still somewhat compelling, it's probably more because of the subject matter that's my specific specialty. I'm so just, well, it's hard to describe, but any other writers reading your new edition would understand that one thing we all chase in our development as writers, is as monumentally feeling the first time I read "Brave New World", or "The Grapes of Wrath", or "To Kill A Mocking Bird"; it truly has that kind of impact even though it is non-fiction.

And I believe he has a gift from the Holy Spirit in the gift of interpretation of prophecy. I's not just an interest I'm guessing, but his entire being and life's work poured into the book as well as the blog posts. Incredible.

I could go on about all of the other very dear people who post here, and this is just a sampling, so don't feel bad if left out, Mark. W, dearest Virtue and Bridget, RC, Mighty Righty, Mark L., Renee, but so, so many more. I feel not the least bit of shame, though I'm not covered in shame, to write that I love each and every one of you, not as a group, but as each individual. You've actually listened to some of my questions or the occassional insight, people actually are interested in what I have on my mind! This might not seem much to others, but being mostly bed-ridden and cooped up in this nightmare of a house that I need to sell so badly, it cuts you off from the rest of the world so, so much, and your self-confidence and social skills slowly are crushed down into nothingness. Again, I'm not trying to make excuses for my inexcusable behavior, but I'm just trying to explain why I don't seem to have an "off button" when I write, I go on and on forever, and especially here; I've been acting like a proverbial bull in a spiritual china shop. I am so genuinely and deeply sorry... it's been a tough go trying to communicate with people who are normal.

Goodbye everyone, please if you remember and have the inclination, I wouldn't want anyone to pray for me out of some false obligation, but only if your heart pushes you that way, I'm not out of the woods yet though I'm taking steps to get healthy since I'm on the edge of a nervous breakdown I think, so I need God's grace to somehow touch me so very badly right now. All through the night because I felt a cacophony of different voices of despair trying to convince me to end my life. I think what got me through the worse of it, the lowest valley of a major depressive episode, was lighting my baptisimal candle for the first time ever since my baptism at 2 months old, and looking at the flame intently as representing the Holy Spirit in a baptism to my belief, and reciting and renewing my baptisimal vows over and over again for many hours. I think that was a way of letting God's grace into my life and chasing away the suicidal ideation. I very much believe that it saved my life last night. But I'm not going to fall to the temptation of over-confidence, why I need to be committed to a psychiatric ward. I wish I could guess when I get out so I can follow posts here in silence, but you just can't get up and leave when you think you aren't a danger to yourself anymore.

But I'll be back as a follower, even if I lose my home and am couch-surfing between relatives that I know would turn me away. Dear Veritas, I will definitely start praising Our Lord in this way, I'd forgotten but this was one of my mother's methods of prayer (she had many, the simplest when it is so bleak to form words, just the name of Jesus repeated over and over with as much genuine emotion as you can still muster. Thanks you so much for reminding me. Have good lives, showered with many blessings through Our Lady's Immaculate Heart on through the Sacred Heart to Jesus to answer all your prayers that are in God's plan for each of you, you are all such good people.

And to RC especially, who forgave me so freely when I acted like a jack-ass, and whose prayers for his father prepared me for losing my uncle and my best friend's dad, who was the closest thing I had for a dad outside my extremely dysfunctional alcoholic father, which wasn't his fault after his youth was spent in Soviet labour camps, seeing such atrocities on any almost daily basis for many years of being forced to watch as my two aunties and my grandmother were gang-raped by sometimes up to 40 or 50 men in a row... I'm sure Our Lord will understand his lack of culpability for the very evil things he did do in life. RC, ta tu mar dhearthair domsa, truly, sincerely. <3

Mark L., I didn't see your comment before posting. Thank you so much, I think you might understand well what I've been put before me to stuggled and perseve against. I am on many medications for my bipolar ii disorder (9), have a very good psychiatrist since I was 19, but I'm classified as "treatment resistant" because of the extra personality disorders I have outside of bipolar. He's been very concerned about me, I'm taking 800 mg of trazodone each day, the most possible and double the out-patient usual limit, the most you can take without causing renal and liver damage. And he has a psychiatric nurse that call me once a week to talk for a couple of hours. So I've been trying to get help, for many, many years now, and my Narcotics Anonymous meetings, where no one is an atheist, have been invaluable on my path of healing.

Thank you for the suggestions, and don't worry please, as I'm all packed up and ready to go to the hospital. Pray for me if you can think of it or feel like it, no pressure... selling this house would lower my baseline anxiety so much that it would give me the elusive chance to get through this episode.

Hi everyone,

I think it would be nice for the readers of this blog to offer this prayer to St. Dymphna for Jason and those who will be caring for him. She’s the patron saint for those suffering mental illness and I believe psychiatrists and victims of incest also. Jason, I sincerely hope and pray you will beat this episode and come out stronger on the other side!

Lord, our God, you graciously chose St. Dymphna as patroness of those afflicted with mental and nervous disorders. She is thus an inspiration and a symbol of charity to the thousands who ask her intercession.

Please grant, Lord, through the prayers of this pure youthful martyr, relief and consolation to all suffering such trials, and especially those for whom we pray. (Here mention those for whom you wish to pray).

We beg you, Lord, to hear the prayers of St. Dymphna on our behalf. Grant all those for whom we pray patience in their sufferings and resignation to your divine will. Please fill them with hope, and grant them the relief and cure they so much desire.

We ask this through Christ our Lord who suffered agony in the garden. Amen.

I also have a quick question about the Two Witnesses. Who were the two prophets in the Old Testament who, when they were killed, everyone cheered? Does that sound familiar? I can’t seem to figure out where that story is. Thank you!

Jason - Don't quit your posting, Jason. If people don't want to read what you write, they don't need to. The only person here you need to worry about is Emmett. Personally, I don't mind your comments in the least.

A couple of things...

First off, one of my patrons is St. Jude. I mentioned you to him after Mass today, and lit a candle for you. Soak it in. Veritas is right, praise God whenever you feel blue. Sing the Divine Praises, even if only silently.

Secondly....actually, let's wait on this till you get back from your "incarceration". Maybe I'll tell you a story from when I was in the service. Maybe I won't. But you'll have to check back in to find out.

Pax Christi sit semper vobiscum!

If there's one thing I learned recovering from my own childhood troubles, it's that the best thing you can do is talk about it. It builds up like a pressure cooker, and you need to vent. By all means keep turning to God. I wish you all the best in your hospitalization, and I'm praying for you.

God bless you.

I'm glad you are seeking help Jason! You're just in a trough right now, but the only way is up. I think all the stress of your house has got on top of you, and your condition has flared up as a result. Don't worry, this will fade. I said some prayers for you today in St. Patrick's Cathedral in Armagh, the seat of the primate of Ireland. A saint I would particularly recommend to ask for intercession for someone in your plight is the lesser known St. Fillan of Munster, who is also a patron of those suffering from mental illness. I only came to know of this saint by way of a dream, around two years ago, which is why I recommend him so heartily.

The 7 november 1917 is the date of the Russian Revolution. Suppose that it is also the day when Satan's greater power began. Then his greater power will end on tuesday, the 7 november 2017.

Now, president Trump will visit Japan on the 5 november, and on the 7 november he will visit South Korea!

North Korea may attack the city where president Trump is, and we will have a war. The war may be short but very deadly. And then the era of peace will begin.

Well, that is just one theory. One of many theories.

Make sure to keep in close contact with your doctors, and I would also suggest reaching out to your parish priest to seek his input on how you can start building a support group around you in everyday life. You need this, especially in light of the breakdown of your marriage after long period of social inactivity, which has obviously led to a degree of isolation. The Church can provide such a bulwark to someone in your position.

Saudi Arabia to build a mega city on the Red Sea

Will this be the fabled Mystery Babylon Revelation 17?

There is no doubt that this emerging megalopolis will match all of the unique descriptions of the last days Babylon, combining idolatry, religious power and economic power into one desert sea-port. It is for this reason that students of God’s Word are taking a fresh and serious look at the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its relationship to biblical prophecy. Now, the Saudis have announced this massive project to the north of Mecca and Jeddah. Truly, this would fulfill the description of a ‘mega-city’ as mentioned in the Book of Revelation.”

Thanks again all, and all of the most sincere and loudest praise to Our Lord, Who shows so often He listens to our prayers, and I think the intercessionary prayers of others where two or more are gathered in His Blessed name, even virtually, no matter how small the requests are in the very grand scheme of things, and thank you St. Joseph the (Miracle!) Worker especially. I am still see struck at having my intentions under his statue in Australia, and how many prayers from so many I'm sure that brought!!

At my lowest lighting my baptismal candle and renewing my vows from baptism over and again helped get me through the darkest night, as did praying the Rosary, even though I was so down that my words felt totally empty... Our Lady's Immaculate Heart still brought those prayers to the foot of the Cross regardless, I fully believe that.

Jesus has continued working more miracles in my life day by day. I wish the occasion would have been a happier one (the funeral of an old roommate), but Emmett, almost as if in answer to your suggestion yesterday I reconnected with at least a dozen old high school and university friends who had no idea what I'd been going through healthwise and otherwise... I have three old buddies who have already offered to move my stuff come moving day, a standing supper invitation once a week from another old friend, and so much more. Later last evening there was a big gathering of all of us at the home of the old roommate whose father passed where we all watched one of our national heroes here, Georges St-Pierre, win a big comeback match after 4 years of retirement, and i renember the last time I just happened to have watched him compete was just a while before my wedding, so in a strange way it made me feel like I'd come full-circle.

I suddenly, instantly, have most, if not all, of all my old friends back, and more so realized that they always had been there; they never left me, I had left them.

And I'm not going to be a fair-weather friend to Jesus, this whole experience has breathed a new vitality into my prayer life, my capacity to forgive and for gratitude, and so much more.

So I am back to stay, but I'll contain my posts from now on to the topics relative and at hand and stop misusing here as an emotional dumping ground... but, still, thanks for the true outpouring of love and prayer that I received from all of you when I was at a really dangerous place in my life!! It made all the world of difference ♡

Apparently there was a sizeable (M4.2) earthquake at Yellowstone on Nov. 4, next to a big crack in the ground. Dutchsinse is the only one reporting on it: https://www.dutchsinse.com/11042017-yellowstone-supervolcano-wyoming-struck-by-earthquake-near-giant-crack-in-the-ground/

Also, I haven't been able to keep tabs on the recent goings on in Saudi Arabia. Has anyone been following it? What's it all about? Could it be related to prophecy?

Mark W said...

What's not related to prophecy these days?

I've followed it a little. It's theoretically a crackdown on corruption. But having worked in the oil business for most of my career, I can tell you what what you see from the KSA is not what's actually going on.

I watch Dutch Sinse occasionally as well. I don't subscribe, but I do occasionally check-in. He's quite good, but VERY long winded.

Mark W said...

And as to what's happening in KSA - must be time to cull the herd of princes. One died in a helicopter crash on the Yemeni border yesterday, and another died in a firefight when they tried to arrest him. Both may well have had a 9mm headache just before the events that "caused" their deaths.

It's a vile place.

Jason R. said...

Mark W., with your experience do you think Saudi Arabia's newly proclaimed shift to a mich more moderate firm if Islam is sincere? Is the Crown Prince really taking on the hard-line clerics, and, if so, to what end?

It seems the messaging coming from him is very much inline with the Israelis in sounding alarm bells about Iran's intentions in Lebanon, Syria and Iraq... I've thought for many years that a civil war between the Shia and Sunnis with whoever comes out on top creating an Islamic "super-state" would be a necessary precursor to the prophesied Islamic military invasion of Europe through the Balkans most likely, and with Russia's sponsorship of Iran, and related prophecies about a Russian invasion of Western Europe, it almist seems as if this time that fir nany years I envisioned may be be coming imminent.

So, if you don't mind me picking your brain on this, what's your take on all of that if you kind of have one? If the kind of unspoken alliance between the Saudis and Israelis become more formal, will they be able to counter the Iranian-Russian power consolidating across the majority of the Middle East right now?

Mark W said...

I don't think anything coming out of the KSA is sincere, aside from their hatred for Iran. If they really are taking on the hard-line clerics, then there must be an agenda behind the agenda that we can't see. My dealings with the Saudi's has been very limited, personally. But I know plenty of people that have dealt with them directly and in very close contact; they call them the smiling serpents.

And this conflict is MUCH deeper than simply KSA vs Iran or Shia vs Sunni. This is Arab vs Persian. In such a fight, I'd back the Persians.

One of my professional mentors - a man universally described as a "true gentleman" (may he rest in peace), was Lebanese. There were two things you never wanted to ask him about if you were short on time - Israel and Saudi Arabia. He really hated both of them equally. For the Israeli's he was under their artillery fire during the Lebanese Civil War, so he had some personal reasons. His dislike of the KSA stemmed from their desire, as he saw it, to dominate the Middle East. He was a Lebanese Christian that survived the Civil war, and he had kinder things to say about Iran and Syria than he did about the House of Saud.

I could tell you a hundred more stories.

Nothing is as it seems. When it comes to the KSA, sincerity is an illusion.

Mark W said...

I suppose, in fairness, I should say that there is a possibility that all this is sincere. But I don't think it's a probability.

Jason R. said...

Cool, thanks Mark, I appreciate the insight!

Jason R. said...

I have an open question to anyone who'd like to take a shot at it; I'd intially asked Emmett but I know he is super busy right now, and the question also got drowned out by my real-time near nervous breakdown, here it is from above... any and all insights on this are very welcomed!:

"I'm struggling with the idea of a Marian Era of Peace vs. the misguided and heretical belief in millennialism (or maybe more properly millenarianism, I'm not sure which term would be more applicable, argh, I'm not doing very good on my brevity already.

Thanks in advance for re-answering my most likely already-asked question (and searched some of your blog entries on the GM and AP to see if it would clarify things for me, but they didn't seem to)."

Jason R. said...

p.s. Mark W., sorry, I was going to try to unpack the Arab vs. Persian conflict, which definitely seems to fit more scripturally... but is it safe to say that the Alawites in Syria, the majority Shia population in Iraq, Hezbolloah/Amal/other Shia groups that seem to complete dominate all facets of Lebanese politics through assassination(their political system giving Maronites the Presidency notwithstanding, with Aoun seeming to be mostly a Syrian, and by extension, Iranian and Russian puppet), though Arab, could be seen perhaps as "Persian" as far as their allegiances go? Kind of like how that area was dominated by the Persian Empire at that time, even those who weren't ethnically Persian would still have been called Persian by the Greek city-states at that time, just as a point of comparison?

I may be (quite likely I guess) trying to shoe-horn the Iranian/Persian newly and widely expanded influence in the region into my pet theory, but it really does seem like the Iranian/Persians are being set up as a regional hegemon by the Russians right now... whether this is in the Russian mind just to try to destabilize the region (as was their aim in Soviet times) in the interests of putting regional American foreign policy in a very difficult position, with the potential of re-involving American ground forces again in a situation on the ground where they would very likely be quickly bogged down. I can kind of see what's happening, but am not sure what Russia's end-game might be in being the power behind Iran, beyond what I've already guessed at in this paragraph. From my viewpoint, this isn't just Iran/Russia's gameplan for the future, they have already won.

Jason R. said...

p.p.s. If I can expect an ad hominem reaction for just mentioning Russia again from you-know-who-anonymous, I find it so odd that in my extended family, both people on the extreme right and people who are on the extreme left are convinced that Putin is (by the far-right) some sort of savior of European culture and Christianity (despite his obvious backing of Iran, which isn't exactly a bastion of protecting either), and by the far-left as a bulwark again evil American/NATO/EU world domination. Brezhnev couldn't have envisioned such an odd alliance of Americans (and other countries in alliance with America that seem to have the same dynamic going on) in support of Russia, often over their own country's most vital geopolitical interests. I have to hand it to the FSB, they do know what they are doing.

Mark W said...

Jason - You're getting a bit out of my area of knowledge here. But I think you're probably right relative to the Persian aspects of the alliances currently in play. Ethnicity is a mixed bag in that part of the world, but people always seem to gravitate to a singularity. For example, I've heard that only 60% of Iranians are of Persian descent, but I've never met an Iranian that denied their Persian ancestry in favor of anything else. And something like 1/3 of Iraq is ancient Persian territory, so there's a lot of mixing in Iraq as well.

As to the Russian influence and their ties to Iran, your equation is missing two key variables: Oil and Natural Gas.

I got laid off last year as a result of the crash in oil prices. My office was consolidated with another and I didn't want to relocate, so I took a package. But that oil crash was instigated by the House of Saud in an attempt to crush American shale and Russian natural gas. What the Saudi's miscalculated was the slowdown in the Chinese economy, and that's what made the situation so desperate for so long.

The US and the KSA have been allies since the petro-dollar was created. The Russians got cozy with the Iranians because of a mutual need to defend against Saudi oil price attacks. Syria is an extension of that. Add ISIS to the mix, and you have a lovely little Axis of US/KSA/ISIS against Syria/Iraq/Iran/Russia. (Admittedly, Iraq isn't quite fair to lump into that. They're simply the battlefield upon which the greater powers fight, and their army simply goes where we point.)

But if you were to construct a timeline, you'd notice that the Russians didn't get seriously interested in the area until about the time the crash in oil/LNG prices hit. At that point, they saw the KSA as an aggressor (rightly so), and defended against it as they saw fit. With ISIS as a military extension of KSA policy ("war is diplomacy by other means"), and you have a logical fit with Russia getting friendly with Syria too. Keep in mind, if you do your timeline, my company felt the coming crash about 9 months before it happened. The oil companies and the oil producing countries heard the tune change long before you saw the prices drop at the gas pump. That's why I haven't had a raise in 3.5 years, but did take an 11% pay cut one year in the height of the crisis. They saw it coming and froze management pay increases, and eventually clobbered us with pay cuts.

So I don't disagree with your theory, but you have to add oil and natural gas into the equation to make it really work. Without that, the motives lack rationality.

This isn't Putin being a saint, and it isn't Putin being a demon. This is simply a Realpolitik response to some rather dim-witted American policies that, to be honest, really started in 1988.

JMC said...

Jason, to answer your question about millenarianism vs. the Marian Era of Peace...well, first off I have to admit I don't truly understand what Emmet means by millenarianism, so I'll answer according to what I see around me in an area where Catholicism is a 2% island in an ocean of Southern Baptists.
.
Baptists...and indeed, most Protestants...believe in a coming thousand-year reign of Christ on earth. For a Catholic to subscribe to this belief is a heresy, because it's simply the Christian version of the Communist goal of utopia on earth. In contrast, the Marian Era of Peace is a BRIEF period of peace, as in the absence of war, and yes, the conversion of many people to Catholicism, beginning with the conversion of Russia. It does NOT lay any claims to a utopia or of any universal reign of Christ on earth; in fact, it warns us that sin will still be around, and after a period of about 30-40 years, it will again gain the ascendancy.
.
The Protestant millennial belief says that Christ will return immediately after His thousand-year reign. Catholic teaching tells us that the end of the Marian Era of Peace will herald the rise of sin, which in turn will lead to the reign of the Antichrist. No one knows for certain how long it will be before he shows up, or how long he will reign in the world. We only know that his reign will be ended by the Second Coming.
.
Again, that's just my personal understanding of the difference between the two. I hope it clears up some of your confusion.

Emmett O'Regan said...

Jason, one of the main problematic components of millenarianism (that there will be universal peace on earth for a prolonged "era", during a reign of the resurrected saints on earth, either with or without the visible Presence of Christ) is the removal of evil from the face of the earth. This not only contradicts Scripture (e.g. that the wheat and tares must exist side-by-side to the end of the world), but also necessitates the complete alteration of human freewill, which is always inclined towards evil through our wounded nature. This is why the heresy of Quietism is then introduced in the modern "Catholic" brand of millenarianism, where the human will is supplanted by the Divine Will to explain how there can be total peace on earth. The implication is that concupiscence will be somehow removed.

The upshot of the ruling out of millenarianism is that there will not be total peace on earth, nor universal worldwide conversions. Sure, we can posit a worldwide religious renewal - but I would side with Pope Benedict XVI, in that I don't expect a massive turnaround in history. I would argue for a more realistic expectation of a period of relative peace, a smaller-scale "fullness of the Gentiles" being brought in (involving a healing of the East/West Schism), followed by the conversion of the Jews (which again, probably won't be total). Then the appearance of the Antichrist after the "restraining force" is removed.

JMC said...

Thanks, Emmett; that clears up my own questions regarding millenarianism, too. ;D

Anonymous said...

Emmett, I am not very good at explaining myself but if you would bear with me I would like to give it a try please.

Regarding your two sentences:

"This is why the heresy of Quietism is then introduced in the modern "Catholic" brand of millenarianism, where the human will is supplanted by the Divine Will to explain how there can be total peace on earth. The implication is that concupiscence will be somehow removed."

You are right, there could be a risk of Quietism for a person who comes to know that there is such a gift as the Gift of the Divine Will, then asks for that Gift, begins to receive the graces of that Gift and proceeds to live an interior life as before. I'm pretty sure that the Gift would be removed from that person.

Instead, as the graces flow, a loving and trusting correspondence with the Giver of such a Gift is gently elicited from that person. As that person joyfully complies with the graces bestowed, a process of sanctification should follow. Anyone looking from the outside should see this person living his or her life as normal but gradually and peacefully being strengthened against the power of concupiscence.

That is necessarily a brief outline of my understanding. There is no supplanting of one will for the other as such. The gift of free will is gratefully accepted by the creature because only with it can he or she make a choice whether to use it alone or to say "Come Divine Will to reign in my poor human will which makes me and all those around me miserable!" Trust is key in this mystery, but not unresponsiveness.

Co-operation with the Gift of the Divine Will naturally, or supernaturally, leads to peace - an answering of the prayer our priests pray after the Our Father every day during Mass, ".....look not on our sins, but on the faith of your Church, and graciously grant her peace and unity, in accordance with your will...". Unity, we are told, can only come by gift of the Holy Spirit.

I add a link to a 2 page pdf which is also a brief explanation: http://www.comingofthekingdom.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/Luisa-Piccarreta-and-the-Fulfillment-of-the-Lords-Prayer.pdf

I am a little confused even with the explanations offered about the coming relief. Our Lady of Fatima (approved apparition) said that 'in the end, my Immaculate Heart will triumph.' The way I understood that is 'in the end' means the end of the time when satan is allotted time to destroy the Church. When satan loses, as we know he will, then Our Lady's Immaculate Heart will triumph. I agree with the Divine Will people that a certain time of peace is approaching. A new springtime of evangelization is approaching. But there is going to be showdowns in the near future before the triumph takes place.

Anonymous said...

When Our Lady said "in the end," I'm pretty sure she wasn't referring to the end of time. More likely she meant is as we ourselves do when we use the phrase; I think she was referring simply to the end of whatever "showdown," as you put it. The Triumph itself will end the showdown and usher in that period of peace. While it was prophesied in Quito (Our Lady of Good Success) that the third millennium is to be the last, that's still a whole thousand years, and we don't know where in that thousand years Our Lord will return. The only thing we know for certain is that it will be at a time when no one is expecting it.

Jason R. said...

Wouldn't the very end of time belong to Our Lord Himself returning in glory rather than a triumph of Our Lady's Immaculate Heart (with no disrespect intended to Our Lady's unparalleled intercession)?

unique and priveledged grace and virtue by God,chosen above all others to give flesh to the Word, absolute perfection in word, thought and deed, perfectly conformed to God's will in every facet of Her existence,Her Immaculate Heart integrated seamlessly with The Sacred Heart of Her beloved Son, the fact that She has been granted the power and the task that She will crush the head of lucifer when obviously Our Lord could easily crush him, it points to a perfect symmetry between The Blessed Virgin and Our Lord, thus I don't believe it's too extreme to suggest the Triumph of Our Lady and the return of Our Lord to judge the living and the dead, would be a shared triumph and a shared glory, just as they are perfectly united in Heaven as they were on earth. Hopefully that makes some sense?!

Interesting theory. I've never looked at that way before, but it does indeed bake a great deal of sense, RC.

Hi JMC,
I'm probably straying very close to the concept of co-redemptrix but I think it's logical to draw that conclusion, obviously Our Lord takes precendence in the act of redemption. Should the dogma of co-redemptrix ever be declared ex cathedra I'd be pretty sure we would see a massive accleration in the Triumph of The Immaculate Heart.

I find this concept pretty intriguing thise it challenges some of my mom held notions (not necessarily Church teachings, but just how is envisioned Our Lord's Second Coming in glory to all glory be to the Holy Trinity.

I'm not a very good student of Mariology I have to admit, but, and please take no unintended offense Our Lady, but as Mary's essential role as the New Eve and her essential Fiat as making her by far the most worthy of all of Our Lord's creation, but that there would always be a clear line between the creator and the created, even in the case of Our Dear Lady who points slways to her son. But, again, I always jyst assumed this I think without my knowledge it ever being a part of any formal twaching if the Faith in Catholic school, Mass homilies, or obstruction from my firnner spiritual director. I've been thinking about these other posdibkilitylies now almist increasingly, thank you RC and HMM for opining on this!!!

There is a very excellent conference on youtube,im not overly technologically minded to do the linkey thing, but if you type Fr Ripperger,Our Lady Of Sorrows,he gives a very beautiful talk on The Blessed Virgin. Very highly recommended!

Thanks for the tip RC, will definitely give it a watch!

You are most welcome amigo. He is also a very renowned exorcist so if you are interested in spiritual warfare he has some excellent conferences on that subject, also given the nature of this website there is a very informative talk on the discerning of spirits/apparitions.

I just want to echo RC's recommendation. Fr. Ripperger is outstanding! Formerly on the FSSP faculty seminary before starting a new traditional order of exorcists. Very solid theology and philosophy, traditional Catholic teaching, insightful. My priest indicated that you can't go wrong with him. I've watched dozens of his videos on Sensus Fidelium, including the talk on Our Lady of Sorrows that RC indicated. I now have a devotion to Our Lady under this title as a result. Many of his talks have been set to video and posted on the Sensus Fidelium website. There's also this: https://sentrad.org/multimedia/

Thanks Catherine, I'm very interested in this, as is never prayed for the intercession of Our Lady of Sorrows before praying for RCs recently passed father, or even hears of the devotion before that, and it was a really, well, just spiritually exceptional experience without going into any mire detail... thanks for that second vote of confidence and the links!! It's greatly appreciated!

You're very welcome, Jason. Yes, Our Lady of Sorrows is absolutely incredible! She immediately began responding to prayers with very specific, needed graces. I had not heard much about Our Lady under this title before Fr. Ripperger's talk, but along with the Sacred and Immaculate Hearts, and of course the Rosary, I think this is one of the most important and valuable devotions with which we are blessed. Spiritually exceptional is a great way to describe it! And when you think of the depths of her suffering for us - and in how many approved apparitions she appears sad or tearful - surely we can all pause to console her Sorrowful heart.
