Our Lady of Knock, Jacob's Ladder and the Short Time of Satan

When Pope Francis visited Ireland for the World Meeting of Families in August 2018, his visit to the shrine of Our Lady of Knock coincided with one of the most remarkable attacks on a pontiff by a high-ranking member of the Catholic hierarchy in recent Church history. Archbishop Vigano, the former papal nuncio to the United States, had alleged that Pope Francis played a pivotal role in covering up the sexual abuse scandal surrounding Cardinal McCarrick, and called on the Holy Father to abdicate from the papacy.

As we shall see, the fact that this accusation against Pope Francis was timed to directly coincide with his visit to the shrine of Our Lady of Knock appears to be of major prophetic importance concerning the end of the period of Satan's greater foreseen in the vision of Pope Leo XIII. The whole point of Satan's period of greater power is framed so that at the conclusion of this diabolical assault against the Church, the Devil could then stand before Christ's representative on earth and point to the stains that have sullied the papal cassock. The role of "Devils advocate" in this instance, as a figure within the Church who would point to these stains, seems to have been undertaken by Archbishop Vigano.

Throughout the course of my previous research on this subject, I have attempted to explain how the symbolism of the Knock shrine heavily alludes to a scene in the Divine Throne Room described in the third chapter of the Book of Zechariah. Alongside the story of Job and the description of the unbinding of Satan at the end of the thousand years in Rev 20, Zech 3 forms the immediate scriptural basis for the vision of the period of Satan's greater power foreseen by Pope Leo XIII. One of the most striking images of Zech 3 is that of the High Priest Joshua being accused by Satan in the Divine Throne Room - which is the primary location suggested by the symbolism of the Knock apparition itself.

Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right hand to accuse him. And the LORD said to Satan, “The LORD rebuke you, O Satan! The LORD who has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you! Is not this a brand plucked from the fire?” Now Joshua was standing before the angel, clothed with filthy garments. And the angel said to those who were standing before him, “Remove the filthy garments from him.” And to him he said, “Behold, I have taken your iniquity away from you, and I will clothe you with pure vestments.” And I said, “Let them put a clean turban on his head.” So they put a clean turban on his head and clothed him with garments. And the angel of the LORD was standing by.

And the angel of the LORD solemnly assured Joshua, “Thus says the LORD of hosts: If you will walk in my ways and keep my charge, then you shall rule my house and have charge of my courts, and I will give you the right of access among those who are standing here. Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, you and your friends who sit before you, for they are men who are a sign: behold, I will bring my servant the Branch. For behold, on the stone that I have set before Joshua, on a single stone with seven eyes, I will engrave its inscription, declares the LORD of hosts, and I will remove the iniquity of this land in a single day. In that day, declares the LORD of hosts, every one of you will invite his neighbor to come under his vine and under his fig tree.”
(Zech 3)

The above vision of the sullied robes of the High Priest Joshua (representing the pope as Pontifex Maximus) being removed and replaced with clean garments described in the Book of Zechariah is also heavily alluded to in St. John Bosco's March of the 200 Days:

Things follow too slowly upon each other, but the great Queen of Heaven is at hand; the Lord's power is Hers. Like mist She shall scatter Her enemies. She shall vest the Venerable Old Man with all his former garments. There shall yet come a violent hurricane. Iniquity is at an end, sin shall cease, and before two full moons shall have shone in the month of flowers, the rainbow of peace shall appear on the earth. The great Minister shall see the Bride of his King clothed in glory. Throughout the world a sun so bright shall shine as was never seen since the flames of the Cenacle until today, nor shall it be seen again until the end of time...
(Biographical Memoirs)

I have written about the importance of the 1879 Irish apparition in relation to the Divine Throne Room before in the post The Prophetic Symbolism of Our Lady of Knock, and its significance plays a key role in my book as a marking point of the opening of the scroll sealed with seven seals - which I argue is specifically linked with the beginning of the short time given to Satan at the end of the "thousand years" described in Rev 20. In turn, I linked the short time of Satan described in the Apocalypse with Pope Leo XIII's famous vision of the period of Satan's greater power, which began at the turn of the 20th century, and concludes around our own time.

It will be worth recapping the most important aspects of my material on Our Lady of Knock before moving on to take on board some new considerations which also help to bolster my theory that this apparition is directly associated with the period of Satan's greater power - which was announced to Pope Leo XIII between 5-7 years after this apparition took place. The Knock apparition itself clearly alludes to the opening of the scroll sealed with seven seals described in Rev 5, since it is central focus lies on the Lamb of Revelation, with an image of St. John (the author of the Apocalypse) directing the attention of his audience to an open book he holds in his hands (the scroll of Revelation?). In Rev 5, the Lamb is permitted to open the scroll sealed with sevens, which sets in motion the events of the Apocalypse itself - beginning with the unleashing of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

As I argue at length in my book Unveiling the Apocalypse: The Final Passover of the Church, the release of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, who are summoned fourth by the Four Living Creatures, is recapitulated later in the Book of Revelation by the four angels who are bound at the River Euphrates in order to kill a third of "the people". Once we compare this verse with the various other scriptural allusions contained in this passage, we find that it is a third of the Jewish people who are to be killed by the appearance of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse (see the earlier post on this subject here).

As I demonstrate in the book, it is quite likely that Pope Leo XIII had himself connected his famous prophetic vision of a period of greater power being given over to the Devil with the period of the unbinding of Satan described in Rev 20. Furthermore, it is quite likely that Pope Leo XIII also connected his consecration of the entire human race to the Sacred Heart of Jesus in the year 1899 with the impending period of Satan's greater power. Pope Leo XIII had himself described this consecration as the "greatest act of my pontificate", and took this action in direct response to a request made by Christ to Bl. Mary of the Divine Heart. Below is a short excerpt from Wikipedia concerning the events which eventually led to the consecration of the world to the Sacred Heart of Jesus:

On June 10, 1898, her confessor at the Good Shepherd monastery wrote to Pope Leo XIII stating that Sister Mary of the Divine Heart had received a message from Christ, requesting the pope to consecrate the entire world to the Sacred Heart. The pope initially did not believe her and took no action. However, on January 6, 1899, she wrote another letter, asking that in addition to the consecration, the first Fridays of the month be observed in honor of the Sacred Heart. In the letter she also referred to the recent illness of the pope and stated that Christ had assured her that Pope Leo XIII would live until he had performed the consecration to the Sacred Heart. Theologian Laurent Volken states that this had an emotional impact on Leo XIII, despite the theological issues concerning the consecration of non-Christians.

Pope Leo XIII commissioned an inquiry on the basis of her revelation and Church tradition. In his 1899 encyclical letter Annum sacrum, Leo XIII decreed that the consecration of the entire human race to the Sacred Heart of Jesus should take place on June 11, 1899. In the encyclical Leo referred to the illness about which Sister Mary had written, stating: "There is one further reason that urges us to realize our design: We do not want it to pass by unnoticed. It is personal in nature but just as important: God the author of all Good has saved us by healing us recently from a dangerous disease."

Pope Leo XIII also composed the Prayer of Consecration to the Sacred Heart and included it in the encyclical. Pope Pius X later decreed that this consecration of the human race performed by Pope Leo XIII be renewed each year.

According to St. Augustine, there were two possible interpretations of the duration of the Millennium. St. Augustine viewed that starting point of both possibilities as beginning from the original binding of Satan, which was won by Christ on the Cross of Calvary. The second suggestion made by St. Augustine is the line which is usually associated with amillennialism - that the binding of Satan would last for a symbolic thousand year period lasting from the time of Christ right up until near the end of the world. St. Augustine's first suggestion is a lot more specific though, and can even be used to determine the general time period in which the unbinding of Satan would take place. The first proposal forwarded by St. Augustine (indicating that he gave this interpretation precedence) was that the binding of Satan won by Christ on the Cross would last until the time of the Sabbath Millennium discussed by the Early Church Fathers, when he would be released for his "little while".

The Early Church Fathers were convinced that the biblical chronology yielded a prophetic significance relating to a "Great Week" of millennia. St. Peter had described the timing of the end of the world in the context of a day being equated with a thousand years, which taken to its natural conclusion, would point to a prophetic week of millennia:

Above all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. They will say, “Where is this ‘coming’ he promised? Ever since our ancestors died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation.” But they deliberately forget that long ago by God’s word the heavens came into being and the earth was formed out of water and by water. By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed. By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly. But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. (2 Pet 3:3-8)

Many Church Fathers had proposed that the timing of the Sabbath Millennium (or sixth millennium in the biblical chronology) could potentially be used to establish the date of the return of Christ. St. Augustine put an additional twist on this concept, and forwarded the novel suggestion that the timing of the Sabbath Millennium was instead actually related to the "thousand year" period mentioned in the Apocalypse concerning the period of the unbinding of Satan:

The Lord Jesus Christ Himself says, No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man — meaning by the strong man the devil, because he had power to take captive the human race; and meaning by his goods which he was to take, those who had been held by the devil in various sins and iniquities, but were to become believers in Himself. It was then for the binding of this strong one that the apostle saw in the Apocalypse an angel coming down from heaven, having the key of the abyss, and a chain in his hand. And he laid hold, he says, on the dragon, that old serpent, which is called the devil and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,— that is, bridled and restrained his power so that he could not seduce and gain possession of those who were to be freed.

Now the thousand years may be understood in two ways, so far as occurs to me: either because these things happen in the sixth thousand of years or sixth millennium (the latter part of which is now passing), as if during the sixth day, which is to be followed by a Sabbath which has no evening, the endless rest of the saints, so that, speaking of a part under the name of the whole, he calls the last part of the millennium— the part, that is, which had yet to expire before the end of the world— a thousand years; or he used the thousand years as an equivalent for the whole duration of this world, employing the number of perfection to mark the fullness of time
. (City of God XX:7)

Here, St. Augustine opines that the end of the “thousand years” mentioned in Rev 20 may be equated with the end of the Sabbath Millennium discussed by the Early Church Fathers. This view was subsequently largely overlooked, since many of the Church Fathers held that the Sabbath Millennium would come to an end circa AD500, at the end of a six thousand year period after the biblical date of creation determined by the chronology of the Greek Septuagint version of the Old Testament (the LXX). As the original various dates calculated for the end of the Sabbath Millennium circa AD500 came and went without any possible applications for this first interpretation, St. Augustine’s second proposal (that the thousand years symbolises an indefinite period extending from the time of Christ to the unbinding of Satan towards the end of the world), became the most widely accepted version of the amillennialist approach.
However, writing in the 8th century, the Church Doctor St. Bede the Venerable noted that the reckoning of the biblical chronology yields a vastly different result when using the Masoretic text of the Hebrew Bible, differing by a period of around 1,500 years from the date of creation (Anno Mundi). St. Bede proposed that this version of biblical chronology, which he used to revise the date of creation to circa 3952BC, was the most accurate, since it was derived from the “Hebrew truth” of the original Jewish Bible, rather than its Greek counterpart. St. Bede’s method for determining the chronology of the Hebrew Bible was further refined by the Anglican Archbishop James Ussher, who working from the various genealogies given in the Bible, established the date of creation to 4004BC.

If we view the primary value of this date to be prophetic in nature (rather than providing us with a literal date for creation), this revised version of the biblical chronology has enormous implications for St. Augustine’s first suggestion concerning the meaning of the end of the “thousand years” in Rev 20 and how this ties into the patristic idea of a Sabbath Millennium. It puts the period of the unbinding of Satan at the end of the “thousand years” directly within the scope of Pope Leo XIII’s vision of the Devil being granted a time of greater power in order to test the Church.

Given the fact that St. Bede the Venerable was proclaimed a Doctor of the Church by Pope Leo XIII at the turn of the 20th century on Nov 13th, 1899, it invites us to ponder whether this action was linked in any way to this saint’s influence on the revision of the Anno Mundi calendar. The prophetic implications of Bede’s chronology cannot be overstated. Not only did it recalibrate the timing of the conclusion of the Sabbath Millennium to the modern era, but once combined with St. Augustine’s hypothesis presented above, it could also be used to indicate that the period of the unbinding of Satan would begin to unfold in the modern era. Is it possible that Pope Leo XIII was aware of these implications? If the Holy Father had interpreted his famous vision within the context of the period of the unbinding of Satan at the end of the thousand years in Rev 20, we could conclude that his raising of St. Bede to the status of Church Doctor on the very eve of the 20th century was a deliberate action intended to reflect his influence on determining the prophetic significance of the Sabbath Millennium to fit in with this exact timeframe.
The timing of the appearance of the Knock apparition in such close proximity to Pope Leo XIII's vision of the period of Satan's greater power is also noteworthy in itself.  As we shall see, the Knock apparition has additional layers of depth which connects it directly with one of the primary scriptural influences which is alluded to in the vision of Pope Leo XIII.

Very few attempts have been made to explain the symbolism of the Knock apparition, which is ripe in apocalyptic imagery. One of the major interpretative keys to understanding the symbolism of the Knock apparition is the depiction of the angels ascending and descending upon the Paschal Lamb. This imagery is directly lifted from the dream vision experienced by the Patriarch Jacob, who saw a ladder reaching up to heaven with angels ascending and descending upon it:

Jacob left Beersheba and went toward Haran. And he came to a certain place and stayed there that night, because the sun had set. Taking one of the stones of the place, he put it under his head and lay down in that place to sleep. And he dreamed, and behold, there was a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven. And behold, the angels of God were ascending and descending on it! And behold, the Lord stood above it and said, “I am the Lord, the God of Abraham your father and the God of Isaac. The land on which you lie I will give to you and to your offspring. Your offspring shall be like the dust of the earth, and you shall spread abroad to the west and to the east and to the north and to the south, and in you and your offspring shall all the families of the earth be blessed. Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land. For I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.” Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, “Surely the Lord is in this place, and I did not know it.” And he was afraid and said, “How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.”

So early in the morning Jacob took the stone that he had put under his head and set it up for a pillar and poured oil on the top of it. He called the name of that place Bethel,[d] but the name of the city was Luz at the first. Then Jacob made a vow, saying, “If God will be with me and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat and clothing to wear, so that I come again to my father's house in peace, then the Lord shall be my God, and this stone, which I have set up for a pillar, shall be God's house. And of all that you give me I will give a full tenth to you.”
(Gen 28:10-22)

In the Knock apparition, the imagery of Jacob's Ladder was substituted by the Lamb of God, showing that the gateway to Heaven is only made possible through the Paschal Sacrifice won on the Cross at Calvary. The account of Jacob's pillow is already important in Irish folklore, due to the claims that Jacob's pillow stone was brought to Ireland by the Prophet Jeremiah, and was linked to the Stone of Scone. According to some apocryphal accounts usually associated with British Israelitism, Jacob's pillow stone was used to crown the kings of Ireland before being brought to Scotland by Robert the Bruce in the 13th century. The legends concerning Jacob's pillow being brought to Ireland are most likely of little or no importance to the understanding the links between the Knock apparition and Jacob's dream however. Instead of looking to obscure Irish legends for explaining the imagery of the Knock apparition, we find that the most salient motifs are rooted elsewhere in Sacred Scripture, most notably in Rev 5 and Zech 3 - the latter of which forms one of the primary scriptural sources for the prophetic vision of Pope Leo XIII (alongside the story of the Prophet Job).

In Rev 5, there is a strong allusion to the significance of the mysterious stone with seven eyes described in Zechariah 3, in the fact that the Lamb of Revelation also bears the curious attribute of seven eyes (which represents the sevenfold spirit). So the Lamb of the Apocalypse is undoubtedly associated with the stone with seven eyes described in the Book of Zechariah, and it is this capacity which can see the area of overlap between the Lamb and the stone of Jacob's pillow in the Knock apparition.

Then I saw in the right hand of him who was seated on the throne a scroll written within and on the back, sealed with seven seals. And I saw a mighty angel proclaiming with a loud voice, “Who is worthy to open the scroll and break its seals?” And no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll or to look into it, and I began to weep loudly because no one was found worthy to open the scroll or to look into it. And one of the elders said to me, “Weep no more; behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered, so that he can open the scroll and its seven seals.”

And between the throne and the four living creatures and among the elders I saw a Lamb standing, as though it had been slain, with seven horns and with seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth. And he went and took the scroll from the right hand of him who was seated on the throne. And when he had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each holding a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. And they sang a new song, saying,

“Worthy are you to take the scroll and to open its seals, for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation, and you have made them a kingdom and priests to our God, and they shall reign on the earth.”
Then I looked, and I heard around the throne and the living creatures and the elders the voice of many angels, numbering myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice, “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!”
And I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying, “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!”And the four living creatures said, “Amen!” and the elders fell down and worshiped
(Rev 5)

With its vision of angels ascending and descending upon the Lamb of God, the Knock apparition thus ties together the stone of Jacob's pillar with the stone with seven eyes in Zech 3 - which is further revealed as representing the Lamb with seven eyes in Rev 5. The cues provided by the Knock apparition thus provides us with an interpretative key to understanding the opening of the seven seals described in the Apocalypse, which is recapitulated in the period of the unbinding of Satan described in Rev 20. The material contained in chapter 3 of the Book of Zechariah concerning the bringing forth of the stone with seven eyes therefore provides us with several additional insight into the unfolding of prophetic events during the short time of Satan, which is focused on the sullied robes of the Pontifex Maximus and Satan's accusations being levelled against Christ's Vicar on earth.

As I have already explained in the post Pope Benedict XVI on the Chronology of Apocalyptic Events, the soiled garments of the Jewish High Priest Joshua in Zech 3 is alluded to in the visions of St. Hildegard of Bingen. Here the defilement of the Church in the period of apostasy towards the end of time was represented pictorially as stains on the gown of the Bride of Christ, and Pope Benedict XVI specifically linked these visions with the modern sexual abuse crisis and certain comments made by Sr. Lucia on the significance of the apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima:

We were all the more dismayed, then, when in this year of all years and to a degree we could not have imagined, we came to know of abuse of minors committed by priests who twist the sacrament into its antithesis, and under the mantle of the sacred profoundly wound human persons in their childhood, damaging them for a whole lifetime.

In this context, a vision of Saint Hildegard of Bingen came to my mind, a vision which describes in a shocking way what we have lived through this past year. “In the year of our Lord’s incarnation 1170, I had been lying on my sick-bed for a long time when, fully conscious in body and in mind, I had a vision of a woman of such beauty that the human mind is unable to comprehend. She stretched in height from earth to heaven. Her face shone with exceeding brightness and her gaze was fixed on heaven. She was dressed in a dazzling robe of white silk and draped in a cloak, adorned with stones of great price. On her feet she wore shoes of onyx. But her face was stained with dust, her robe was ripped down the right side, her cloak had lost its sheen of beauty and her shoes had been blackened. And she herself, in a voice loud with sorrow, was calling to the heights of heaven, saying, ‘Hear, heaven, how my face is sullied; mourn, earth, that my robe is torn; tremble, abyss, because my shoes are blackened!’

And she continued: ‘I lay hidden in the heart of the Father until the Son of Man, who was conceived and born in virginity, poured out his blood. With that same blood as his dowry, he made me his betrothed.

For my Bridegroom’s wounds remain fresh and open as long as the wounds of men’s sins continue to gape. And Christ’s wounds remain open because of the sins of priests. They tear my robe, since they are violators of the Law, the Gospel and their own priesthood; they darken my cloak by neglecting, in every way, the precepts which they are meant to uphold; my shoes too are blackened, since priests do not keep to the straight paths of justice, which are hard and rugged, or set good examples to those beneath them. Nevertheless, in some of them I find the splendour of truth.’

And I heard a voice from heaven which said: ‘This image represents the Church. For this reason, O you who see all this and who listen to the word of lament, proclaim it to the priests who are destined to offer guidance and instruction to God’s people and to whom, as to the apostles, it was said: go into all the world and preach the Gospel to the whole creation’ (Mk 16:15)” (Letter to Werner von Kirchheim and his Priestly Community: PL 197, 269ff.).

In the vision of Saint Hildegard, the face of the Church is stained with dust, and this is how we have seen it. Her garment is torn – by the sins of priests. The way she saw and expressed it is the way we have experienced it this year. We must accept this humiliation as an exhortation to truth and a call to renewal.

Now notice the similarities here between the words of the Holy Father and those of Sr. Lucia during her interview with Fr. Fuentes:

Sister Lucy also told me: "Father, the devil is in the mood for engaging in a decisive battle against the Blessed Virgin. And the devil knows what it is that offends God the most, and which in a short space of time will gain for him the greatest number of souls. Thus the devil does everything to overcome souls consecrated to God, because in this way the devil will succeed in leaving the souls of the faithful abandoned by their leaders, thereby the more easily will he seize them."

"That which afflicts the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the Heart of Jesus is the fall of religious and priestly souls. The devil knows that religious and priests who fall away from their beautiful vocation drag numerous souls to hell. The devil wishes to take possession of consecrated souls. He tries to corrupt them in order to lull to sleep the souls of laypeople and thereby lead them to final impenitence. He employs all tricks, even going so far as to suggest the delay of entrance into religious life. Resulting from this is the sterility of the interior life, and among the laypeople, coldness (lack of enthusiasm) regarding the subject of renouncing pleasures and the total dedication of themselves to God."

A connection between these words of Sr. Lucia and St. Hildegard's vision of "filth" within the Church clearly seems to have been on Pope Benedict's mind here, since he uses basically the same themes and symbolism during his visit to Fatima in 2010:

"As for the new things which we can find in this message today, there is also the fact that attacks on the Pope and the Church come not only from without, but the sufferings of the Church come precisely from within the Church, from the sin existing within the Church. This too is something that we have always known, but today we are seeing it in a really terrifying way: that the greatest persecution of the Church comes not from her enemies without, but arises from sin within the Church, and that the Church thus has a deep need to relearn penance, to accept purification, to learn forgiveness on the one hand, but also the need for justice."

Cardinal Ratzinger again alluded to St. Hildegard's writings describing the current state of the Church as a woman whose garments are soiled in his famous Way of the Cross sermon in 2005, just before he ascended the papacy:

"Should we not also think of how much Christ suffers in his own Church? How often is the holy sacrament of His Presence abused, how often must he enter empty and evil hearts! How often do we celebrate only ourselves, without even realizing that he is there! How often is his Word twisted and misused! What little faith is present behind so many theories, so many empty words!
How much filth there is in the Church, and even among those who, in the Priesthood, ought to belong entirely to him! How much pride, how much self-complacency!"

"Lord, your Church often seems like a boat about to sink, a boat taking in water on every side. In your field we see more weeds than wheat. The soiled garments and face of your Church throw us into confusion. Yet it is we ourselves who have soiled them! It is we who betray you time and time again, after all our lofty words and grand gestures. Have mercy on your Church... You stood up, you arose and you can also raise us up. Save and sanctify your Church. Save and sanctify us all."
The soiled garments of the Jewish High Priest being replaced in Zech 3 (who in an eschatological context represents the figure of the Roman Pontiff) should thus be compared with the visions of St. Hildegard of Bingen, which are intimately related to the purification of the Church at the end of time. However the stains on the garments of the Bride of Christ in St. Hildegard's visions and on the Pontifex Maximus in Zech 3 represents the sins of priests, and do not reflect the sinfulness of the pope being accused, or indict him in any way for heresy (which would contradict the doctrine of indefectibility). In fact the accusations levelled at the visible head of the Church by the Devil are a satanic deception aimed at destroying the Church from within - a deception which is rebuked by the Archangel Michael, after which the time of purification begins.

The fact that this recent accusation against Pope Francis by Archbishop Vigano occurred at a time when the Holy Father was making pilgrimage to an apparition site representing the Divine Throne Room depicted in Rev 5, which is in turn intimately connected with the prophecy of Zech 3 and the opening of the scroll sealed with seven seals is surely replete with prophetic significance.

It is no coincidence that Christ's discourse on the binding of the "strong man" occurred in the immediate context of the appearance of the "Sign of Jonah" in Matt 12 (which originally took the form of a total solar eclipse over ancient Nineveh just before Jonah's arrival into the city). Or that the start of the First World War at the beginning of the period of Satan's greater power coincided with the appearance of yet another solar eclipse crossing the site of ancient Nineveh on the feast day of Our Lady of Knock, on 21st August, 1914. The fact that the end of the Sabbath Millennium discussed by the Early Church Fathers was preceded by a century of genocide foretold in the vision of Pope Leo XIII leaves us with little room for doubt that the siege of the camp of the saints at the end of the thousand years mentioned in Rev 20 began to unfold at the opening of the 20th century.

The current age of apostasy we are enduring is the fruit of Satan's unbinding at the end of the thousand years, during which he has managed to blind the minds of unbelievers to the truth of the Gospel (2Cor 4:4), and the love of many had grown cold because of the increase of evil (Matt 24:12). This evil has manifested itself most prevalently within the Church itself in the form of the clerical sexual abuse scandal, which has turned baptised Catholics away from the pews en masse, and sullied the wedding gown of the Bride of Christ.

Now just over a year on from another total solar eclipse which took crossed America on the feast day of Our Lady of Knock, on 21st August 2017 - the centenary year of Our Lady of Fatima, one of the most shocking accusations against a reigning pontiff by a high-ranking prelate in the Catholic Church took place at the site of the Knock apparition - which represents the Divine Throne Room seen in Zech 3. This accusation has rocked the Catholic Church in America, and is symptomatic of the wider rebellion that is being plotted against the Holy Father by many high-ranking officials in the Church hierarchy. Just as the sullied robes of the Jewish High Priest are removed and replaced with fresh linen after Satan makes his accusation against him, we can only hope and pray that we are on the cusp of the purification of the Church which is promised to take place before the coming of the Antichrist.

As Pope Francis has himself addressed the bishops yesterday, on 11th Sept 2018:

“In these times, it seems like the 'Great Accuser' has been unchained and is attacking bishops. True, we are all sinners, we bishops. He tries to uncover the sins, so they are visible in order to scandalize the people. The 'Great Accuser', as he himself says to God in the first chapter of the Book of Job, 'roams the earth looking for someone to accuse'. A bishop’s strength against the 'Great Accuser' is prayer, that of Jesus and his own, and the humility of being chosen and remaining close to the people of God, without seeking an aristocratic life that removes this unction. Let us pray, today, for our bishops: for me, for those who are here, and for all the bishops throughout the world.”

Wow Emmett, you put some serious work into this piece of writing and analysis! I have been having extensive dialogue about the current crisis in the Church and I am of the firm belief that God has allowed all that has happened to test the faith of those in His Mystical Body, at the deepest level. I have suggested to many who are up in arms emotionally and intellectually over this recent scandal to allow the dust to settle so the Mother of God can clean house.

Google the Holy Icon of the Ladder of Divine Ascent, which goes together with a literary work of the same name written by Church Father Saint John Climacus. My spiritual father recommended I read it this past Lent and it has helped me immensely. I would recommend it to anyone.

I have to admit that I'm really dismayed by the pope's comments on this.

"He tries to uncover the sins, so they are visible in order to scandalize the people."

I suppose that's one way of looking at it. Or it could also be that the rot in the hierarchy is being uncovered in order to facilitate the purification of the Church. It's as if Francis is fighting against this purification, all the while he blames those exposing the truth and the victims of the rot.

It wasn't satan that pointed out the filth. Satan was accusing Joshua, but the angel pointed out the filth, took away his iniquity, and clothed him in clean garments.

Good to hear from you again, Emmet. Thank you for this outstanding piece of work and God bless you in both your personal and professional life. I know you've had a tough time lately. I also have to say that I agree 100% with Mark re the Pope's comments yesterday. What an extraordinary thing to say! And what a dismal one! As if uncovering abuse is the Devil's work and covering it up God's. I like Francis and want to believe in him and back him up, but goodness me he makes it hard sometimes. Grace, peace and mercy to all.

With all due respect, as you point out, the High Priest’s clothes were solid by apostate priests themselves. Rather than expect the generation of bishops, including this bishop of Rome. who came to power during Satan’s reign to due the cleansing of the Church it is far more probable that Mother Mary is going to clean house and promote Bishops after heart and her Sons.

Welcome back, Emmett! I hope things have been going better! I included you in a novena to St. Joseph that I’ve been doing this past week!

Ok, wow! you’ve given us a lot to chew on as usual.

You mentioned St. John Bosco’s March of the 200 Days- I noticed that 200 days after the blue blood moon on January 31st (his feast day) is Sunday August 19th. The week of Pope Francis’ visit to the Knock Shrine and Viganò’s letter being released.

Also, I know I bring up Our Lady of Zaro all the time (sorry guys!), but you mentioned last year how the earthquake in Ischia on the feast day of Our Lady of Knock seemed like God’s way of pointing to these messages (even though they aren’t approved yet). Anyway, the message from June 26th, has the vision of Francis falling down the stairs/ladder along with Mary’s crown. I completely forgot that a ladder was mentioned! I didn’t think about it until this post. Also, they say it appeared as if he was “pushed from behind.” (pointing to Pope Francis’ innocence?). It’s also interesting that the need for silence was mentioned as well. Anyway, here it is in full for reference.

Message of the Madonna of zaro of 26.06.2018 given to Angela

This afternoon mom presented herself as queen and mother of the universe.
Mom was all dressed in white, even the mantle that wrapped her was white and encrusted with glitter. Mom had a queen crown and under her barefoot feet a carpet of flowers on which she rested her feet. Mother had in her right hand a long crown of the Holy Rosary of light, which came almost down to her feet and in her left hand had the world. Mother's boss was covered by the same mantle that hovered in the wind and wrapped so many of her children.

Praise Jesus Christ

" my dear children, thank you very much today, too, to greet me and answer my call.
My children, even today I am here asking for prayer for my beloved church. Pray children, do not beg to pray, your day is prayer.
Children Beloved, the church runs serious dangers, the prince of this world is about to make the last of his most vile gestures, he wants to alienate the people of God from truth and faith and wants to meddle in minds for plagiarle and aside."
At this point I had a vision. I saw the crown of the Madonna rolling down the stairs and with it also fell Pope Francis, it was like pushed behind. The ladder filled with blood and everything went dark. Outside of the dome there were large black birds that were down against the glass of st. Peter's.
Then mom started talking again.
" sons beloved, his project is about to be implemented, but you do not fear. Pray with the tight crown between your hands and kneel before the tabernacle, there Jesus my son is alive and true, that's where Jesus donates the sigh thank you, that's where Jesus awaits you.
My children, the church needs worshipers who can be silent in front of God's face.
My children, hard times await you, but I taught you to pray, to fasting and to give up. Learn to be humble and small before God. Learn from me, humble handmaiden of the Lord.
Say your yes, but say it with your heart, the true Christian must speak with gestures and with works, do not need words.
My children, today I give you many thanks and bless in particular my beloved children, here gathered to greet and honor me."
Finally, mom blessed everyone. In the name of the father, the son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

I find the imagery of Mary's crown rolling down the stairs a little disturbing...though I suppose it could represent the fact that the corrupt clergy are not turning to her, but are actually trying to usurp her place, as well as God's.
.
I suppose it's entirely possible Francis is as much a victim of this mess as anyone else; maybe that's why he kept silence himself for so long, and is still keeping silence. Only time will tell.
.
Yesterday I read that he's calling all the bishops into Rome for a conference concerning this whole scandal. I hope and pray that he will take this opportunity to consecrate Russia.
.
I also read a few days ago (it was in one of four places: 1Peter5, Padre Peregrino, Crisis Magazine, or ChurchPop; I'm not sure which one) that Pope Emeritus Benedict has started wearing the white cassock again, and no one is sure what this means.

Emmett O'Regan said...

Thanks for this Bridget! Interesting that the crown of Mary is mentioned at the same time as the mention of the stairs/ladder, and Pope Francis being pushed down it. The feast day of Our Lady of Knock is closely associated with the feast day of Our Lady as the Queen of Heaven the day after on August 22nd. The Knock apparition is as noted above, based on the imagery of Jacob's ladder, so this all certainly ties in...

Wow, Emmett. You immediately attack Archbishop Vigano. I’ve lost all respect for you, Emmett. Your Pope worship is now plainly evident, and it is soiling your efforts in eschatology.

Kevin A Miller said...

Anon I have been as critical of Pope Francis as anyone but I am willing to let the dust settle on this one before passing judgement on anyone. I have a lot of people who I trust who are taking one side or another in regards to this matter and frankly when something becomes this divisive I start to think about whether it is a concern of the body, emotions, intellect, or spiritual? Everyone is arguing in terms of body, emotions, and intellectual basis but no one seems to give much concern to the spiritual which is the highest and most important aspect of our faith. I believe this to be a most sophisticated attack of satan against the Mystical Body of Christ, aimed precisely at destroying the faith of those in the Church so that they may fall away and be claimed by the evil one.

I am of the mindset that when Pope Francis calls for silence in the matter he is asking us to engage in the spiritual element of our faith to obtain clarity on what is going on in the world and what God is calling us to do to fulfill His Will as best we can. Everyone wants to toss around accusations and speculations but not many want to take a step back and realize that satan is the one who is the cause of accusation, satan is the one who is the cause of division, satan is the one behind all that has transpired which is the cause of this tremendous scandal and its fallout. The Church and its faithful have survived similar circumstances like the Arian heresy and we were made to live in these times and wage spiritual combat against the darkness.

I have already seen some people who I thought were strong in faith begin to unravel in despair over this, to be perfectly honest I am ecstatic that I am to witness what is likely satan's last gasp before the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart. I prayed about this recently in contract to the Passion of Christ, HE had to suffer like no one has ever had to suffer. His Sacred Flesh was torn apart, His Mystical Body the Church WILL have to undergo similar great suffer before it is to be resurrected. Prepare yourself!

Christ Jesus said that the gates of hell will never prevail against the Church, I think that this is much in the same vein as the power of satan did not prevail against Christ crucified. Another translation is that the gates of hell will not withstand the Church, I think that this is like the fact that neither hell, nor death, nor the sepulcher could bear the immense power of the Resurrected Christ born again out of it all!

With all due respect, Kevin, Archbishop Vigano made specific accusations and said the documents exist to substantiate them. An investigation must now, immediately (not in February) take place to either confirm or refute Vigano’s accusations. This investigation must be headed by those who are not named in Vigano’s report. This excludes Pope Francis and his supporters from heading the investigation. Stonewalling and “silence” will not resolve this crisis.

Anonymous said...

Hi Emmett et al,
Thank you for your remarkable insights. One sentence in your article slapped me between my eyes:

In fact the accusations levelled at the visible head of the Church by the Devil are a satanic deception aimed at destroying the Church from within - a deception which is rebuked by the Archangel Michael, after which the time of purification begins.

This brings much clarity to these confusing days. Thank you, Emmett.

Anon, I 100% support a full investigation into the allegations and corruption within the Church. In regards to Pope Francis's statement about silence I don't think he is referring to what seem to want to think he's referring to. Its a complex issue and there is no black and white answer, like so many are demanding of the Pope of Rome.

I think a lot of this has to do with the internal forum and things that are between God and the individual that frankly no one else can know about. One cannot make accusations on a matter that they can know nothing about in a quite literal sense, thereinlies the rightful call for silence.

Bridget said...

Hey Mark! You said something interesting that got me thinking...

“It’s as is Francis is fighting against this purification”

Isn’t that what was happening when Jesus said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan!” ?? He didn’t want to believe that Jesus would have to suffer and die on the cross?

From that time on, Jesus began to show his disciples that he* must go to Jerusalem and suffer greatly from the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes, and be killed and on the third day be raised.
22 Then Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him, “God forbid, Lord! No such thing shall ever happen to you.”
23 He turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are an obstacle to me. You are thinking not as God does, but as human beings do.”

Specific accusations that Vigano was privy to including his own personal experience, prior to an investigation, can't be fairly labelled as "rebellion." He isn't "rebelling" from anything nor is an accusation an "attack." It needs to be checked into.

Emmett O'Regan said...

He is calling for the pope's resignation, not just to open an investigation. It's an attempt at a coup by the same anti-Francis faction within the Church, this time using a different strategy because they now know the heresy charge isn't compatible with the doctrine of the indefectibility of the Petrine See (which is why Cardinal Burke's promised "fraternal correction" has never materialised). Accountability for Vigano's claims doesn't just stop at the pontificate of Pope Francis, but it also implicates Pope Benedict XVI and St. John Paul II as well. Even Vigano himself would have been complicit in the cover-up as well, if his claims are true. There are too many holes in his story. I'm not buying it. Let's just wait and see the response by the C9 group. Also a papal abdication has to be of his own free will to be valid. You can't pressurize a pope into doing so.

JMC said...

C9 group? What is that? This is the first I've ever heard of it.

John Fitzgerald said...

Thanks Emmet. Do you think the Pope is aware of the apocalyptic dimension in all this and that's why he has chosen to speak of Satan as the 'Great Accuser'? Or is it just coincidence. I often wonder about Pope Francis and whether he knows more about things than he often lets on. I've heard it said by some that his phrase sutnh his first speech as Pope - 'I am the Pope from the end of the world' - might be better translated as 'I am the Pope OF the end of the world.' There's also the strange business of this mystical experience he's said to have had when he was told he was the new Pope. Someone who was with him, I forget who, said he looked like a completely different man when he got up from his knees. Francis has always said that this experience has given him great certitude in the rightness of what he is doing. I wonder if he was told certain things.

Emmett O'Regan said...

The Council of Cardinal Advisors. They said they would be issuing a statement on this soon.

Emmett O'Regan said...

Yes absolutely John. He also speaks of Satan being "unchained" - which of course takes place at the end of the "thousand years" of Rev 20. And his talk about drawing out sin so that it becomes "visible" alludes to the stains on the garments of the Bride of Christ foreseen in the visions of St. Hildegard of Bingen. I think Pope Francis is fully aware of what's going on around him. Don't forget he has direct access to a lot more information than we could ever hope to have.

Emmett with respect that would be akin to kitson and jackson investigating the paras brutality in ballymurphy and derry! Daneels,Inzoli,Mccarrick, barros, capozzi etc etc there is plenty of precedent here. Objectively he is not the only example of this, jp and the maciel case for example. Let's abandon the personality cults here and all deal with the crimes. Anyone, any prelate found guilty of abuse or being guilty of or complicit in covering up these demonic crimes should be immediately laicized and nailed. I care not one jot for their theology or politics, right wing, left wing whatever jail the guilty irrespective of rank or office. The victims deserve the truth, they deserve light being shone on the filthy darkness perpetrated on them.Full investigations throughout the church and full disclosure, nothing less. Let your yes be yes and your no be no! The church will survive the filth of demonic abusers and their enablers, hell will never prevail!

Emmett O'Regan said...

Yes, nothing should be hidden, and this rot should be cut out of the Church root and branch. Unfortunately, the culture of cover-up has been endemic amongst the bishops and clergy for decades. It's not a problem limited to the papacy of Pope Francis by any stretch. Personally, I think the laity should have much more of say in investigating these crimes and bringing the perpetrators to justice.

Did you watch the Channel 4 documentary about the Ballymurphy massacre, RC?

I don't want to sound uncharitable at all, but it appears as if the thesis that Francis is under unjust attack is the fruit of over-spiritualizing the reality that is right in front of everyone. Many, many faithful Catholics gave the benefit of the doubt to him for the first few years of his pontificate, over and over and over again--myself included. But the facts kept pounding us on an almost daily basis. People should be judged on what they DO, not on what they say. Talk is cheap. And Francis has done so many terrible things, and neglected to do so many things that he has a clear duty to do, that to look the other way and pretend his words mean anything is just sticking your head in the sand. In the last week, more horrendous allegations of his stonewalling abuse reports, and perhaps even being a silent partner in their flourishing, have come out from his years in Argentina. To use another cliche, where there's smoke, there's fire, and there's so much smoke that is choking the life of the Church.
Prophecy can be a tricky thing. Be careful how you interpret what is there. Don't fall into the trap of pride that you have an insight deeper than everyone else, when you're ignoring the mountain of plain facts right in front of you.

Anonymous said...

Prophecy must be fulfilled. Jacinta saw people throwing rocks and cursing at the Holy Father. Our Lady of Good Success prophesied that those who should be defending the rights of the Church will join the crowds in persecuting it after the scandals of wicked clergy. Other prophecy states that before the age of peace hostile mobs will persecute the clergy, both good and bad, and the more insults you heap on the clergy the more the mob will hold you in high esteem. Through rhetoric the media, both secular and a Catholic, convince people that the Holy Father is malicious rather than too trusting, and if you refuse to judge him to be evil because there is no logical proof of the judgement, they think you are willfully blind. What’s the use of technology if you don’t know how to think rationally? Rhetoric is the art of persuasion, and if you have never studied logic it’s easy to fall for false inferences. Communication has made is so that propaganda can be widely spread.

" There are too many holes in his story. I'm not buying it. "

That's very much like me saying that nothing happened in Ireland - no abuse, nothing, stop looking at the collapse of average Sunday attendance as it's meaningless. You're all making it up. C'mon Emmett. There's more substance to Vigano's statement than you're giving him credit for. Some of The Scandal in my country actually happened in my own diocese, and I met one of the priests involved, and one of my daughters was confirmed by a now scandal-ridden bishop. Tell me again that none of this happened.

Here's my theory...

Francis' papacy ends in failure. Regardless of the reason, regardless of whether you like Francis or not, it's not going particularly well right now and is likely going to get worse and end in failure. It's almost a failed papacy as it is, but my guess is that things will only get worse from this point. When he goes - regardless of the means by which he goes - there will be a split in the Church. The liberals will want to continue, and the conservatives won't want to go along. The rot has been exposed and the defenders of the rot are now known. The papacy splits, and we have a defacto schism (and yes, you could say we're there now).

At that point the great saints will rise up. Think Catherine of Sienna bringing the papacy back to Rome. Which saint was it that rebuked a pope in the middle of Mass? I can't recall. Mary's re-formation of the Church (word choice deliberate here) will come through these saints, and the rebuilding will go a long way toward fixing the breakage of 1094 and 1517 as well. Then we'll have a Church that's smaller - as Benedict XVI predicted - but more authentically Catholic; a purified Church.

And look back at Bridget's comment. She's painted me (and others, obviously) in the role of St. Peter, questioning the pope and painting Francis as being Christlike in this moment. Fine. Let's just take that at face value for the moment. But look deeper at that quote and what followed it after that moment in the biblical narrative. Peter was loyal to the end absolute end, and gave his life for the truth. He didn't understand at that moment, but he had Christ to explain. If Francis is Christlike in this moment, and you want to use this as an analogy for what's happening today, then why the silence?

Bridget said...

Oh! Sorry Mark! I didn’t explain myself well. I was equating Pope Francis’ silence and reluctance with the actions of St. Peter. Not equating Francis with Jesus. Not equating you with Peter. I always thought it was crazy how the disciples disappeared and weren’t even present at the Crucifixion. (Except for John, is that right?). Anyway, that wasn’t you in the scenario! Sorry! I guess I’m going back to different ways that Francis would fit Peter the Roman/The Last Pope

Bridget said...

And if Pope Francis does continue to follow the path of St. Peter, then there’s hope he’ll turn everything around. Time will tell!

Bridget said...

Last thing, Emmett, just so I’m understanding you, your issue with Viganò is his calling for Pope Francis to resign, right? Like you said, you’re not questioning the need for an investigation.

So my theory is Pope Francis stays, changes his focus, and actually DOES clean house.

I have serious misgivings about this Pope, from when he walked out onto the balcony for the first time in St Peters. He clearly is making the mason hidden hand sign to his shoulder behind one of his cardinals,(watch it on YouTube). This Pope also said you can get to heaven through your good deeds alone, which is not true, the only way to get to heaven is through Jesus Christ. This Pope I believe unfortunately is not a true man of God and the Vatican has been subverted by Mason's since Vatican 2.I believe that God is going punish Rome in the near future by exposing all her sins against God,I believe the Pope will have to flee Rome. Emmett have you heard about a prophecy of the Russian flag flying in over the Vatican, I have but can't recall where I heard it??

please allow and excuse me for interrupting here, but i am familiar with your question and can help with informing you that it is a Prophecy of sister Elena Aiello. She sees Russian soldiers physically manhandling and knocking down a pontiff while the Russian flag flies over the Vatican.

hope this is a help

JMC said...

Viper, I recall hearing that, too, but I don't remember where, either.
.
Our Lady of LaSalette predicted that Rome itself would lose the faith, which, if you listen to the interview with Fr. Martin that Chris referred to above, was precisely what happened at Vatican II: Bishops and cardinals who had lost the faith where the ones who hijacked the Council and did away with most of the devotions. I'll never forget the shock my mother and I experienced when we went to our church for the weekly novena to Our Lady of Perpetual Help, and found the church locked up; the priest was still outside, and we asked him what happened to the novena. It was bad enough to be told that there wouldn't be any more novenas; the real kicker was when he said, "The Church is de-emphasizing Mary." We were both shocked speechless. We just continued praying the novena at home.
.
As for the whole Pope Francis issue, I keep remembering something Father Amorth said when JPII was still alive, when he was discussing the consecration of Russia. He said, roughly paraphrased, "This pope will not do it. His successor will not do it. *His* successor...he will do it." That means that Pope Francis, if Fr. Amorth was correct, will be the one to consecrate Russia. This lends a bit of credence to what some have said here about this whole business now being a turning point for him. Perhaps he will finally be given the grace to resist the naysayers in the Curia and put his foot down and do it. I don't think it will be any time soon, though, because of what Our Lady of Quito said: The triumph will only occur when it looks like all is lost and the devil has won. We're not there yet; things are going to get a lot worse. But then, cleansing usually is painful. May God be with us all, and I mean no levity when I give an old 1960s slogan a new meaning: Keep the faith, baby!

JMC said...

Ah, thanks, Chris! Yes, I remember the part about knocking down the pope, too. It's a dim memory, so I suspect it was a very long time ago that I read it.

"Russia, spurred on by Satan, will seek to dominate the whole world and, by bloddy revolutions, will propagate her false teachings throughout all the nations, especially in Italy. The Church will be persecuted and the Pope and the priests shall suffer much."

Sister Elena Aiello speaks:
"Oh, what a horrible vision I see! A great revolution is going on in Rome! They are entering the Vatican. The Pope is all alone; he is praying. They are holding the Pope. They take him by force. They knock him down on the floor. They are tying him. Oh God! Oh God! They are kicking him. What a horrible scene! How dreadful!

"Our Blessed Mother is drawing near. Like corpses those evil men fall down to the floor. Our Lady helps the Pope to his feet and, taking him by the arm, she covers him with her mantle saying: "Fear not!"
"Flagstaffs (flying the Red Flag over St. Peter's dome and elsewhere) collapse, and power is gone out of the clubs of those evil brutes. These atheists are ever shouting: 'We don't want God to rule over us; we want Satan to be our master!'"

Our Blessed Mother speaks again: "My daughter, Rome will not be saved, because the Itailian rulers have forsaken the Divine Light and because only a few people really love the Church. But the day is not far off when all the wicked shall perish, under the tremendous blows of Divine Justice."

Just before Season 6 of The Remnant Underground gets underway, Michael Matt checks in from the set of a new RTV program to comment on the 'scandal of the century'--credible charges leveled by a Vatican diplomat against top authorities in the Church--including Pope Francis--alleging an orchestrated cover-up for the sexual pervert and now-disgraced Theodore Cardinal McCarrick. While Francis refuses to answer the charges and neo-Catholics attempt to 'shoot the messenger', Michael asks the questions: What are they so afraid of? Why are they trying to block a formal investigation of these credible accusations? What are they trying to hide, and for how long have they been trying to put one over on the Catholic people?

At this pivotal moment in the history of the post-conciliar debacle, isn't it time for all Catholics to come together and put these Modernist occupiers of the Catholic Church on trial? With ten Cardinals, Archbishops and Bishops calling for a fair hearing and full investigation of Archbishop Vigano's charges, isn't it high time Catholics connect the dots between this horrific development and the entire failed experiment of Vatican II?

A very wise course. I would ask only one thing in addition: withhold your judgement of those speaking out against the pope as well. My guess is that they will play a vital role in the purification of the Church. Think about it. We read the prophesy's of people hurling things at the pope, and the pope under attack, and we automatically assume that those are bad things. What if they're not, in this case? What if they are necessary?

I've been looking at this through a historian's lens (which is oftentimes different than that of a journalist), and there are solid reasons to think that Vigano is telling the truth. His motives might be impure, but I think the raw information will prove accurate. The biggest problem is that we may never know all the details: those controlling the documents are the least likely to release them.

Emmett O'Regan said...

I know that Vigano et al are doing what they think is right, but that doesn't necessarily make it so. If their actions help to bring about the purification of the Church, then well and good. My concern is that they are damaging the esteem in which the office of the papacy is held, and they are attempting to steer the sheep into abandoning the shepherd, which to me is more like the tactics of wolves. Vigano is the voice of a stranger to me. I'll stay with the shepherd.

"The one who enters by the gate is the shepherd of the sheep. The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice. But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger’s voice.”
(John 10:2-5)

RC said...

Many of the sheep have felt abandoned by the shepherd for over 5 years! It's hard to listen to a shepherd who throws insults continually at the most loyal of sheep.A shepherd who surrounds himself with and keeps the company of predatory wolves such as daneels, mccarrick, ricca, barros, inzoli, maradiaga, capozzi. A shepherd who is normally so loquacious on every subject under the sun refuses to answer the most immoral allegations? Why the silence? Why the rehabilitation of known abusers and enablers? "Let your yea be yea and your no be no"

Emmett, you’ve gone off the deep end. Pope Francis is certainly not infallible in this matter of responding to Vigano’s accusations and his response of “silence” in the face of these very serious allegations will not cut it. Cardinal Burke has said it is permissible to call for the resignation of any prelate, including the Pope, who has covered for sex abuse. I think Cardinal Burke is a wee bit more qualified to make that determination than you, Emmett. Are you on the Vatican’s payroll, Emmett?

Perhaps the pope is guilty, perhaps not. We should care more about what God thinks, then about our neighbors, the Catholic media and even the whole world. What they think matters not. How loud they are matters not. How embarrassing would it be to find out from God Himself that the pope is innocent and you were one who abetted persecuters because of the respect of the crowd, even the loud Catholic crowd? Unless I find an airtight case, a rigorous logical argument against the pope, I refuse to condemn him, for in these five years I’ve seen why many loud Catholics kneeled before fascists in history, convinced that evil was good and good was evil. There’s a way of treating Catholicism like a political party or an ideology rather than a relationship with reality, and if the loud Catholic party leaders portray outsiders as wicked-doers, many Catholics join in. It’s clear that the pope himself has cut out these people from asserting leadership roles and deciding the agenda of the Church and so for five years they’ve tried to undermine him at every opportunity, pretending to be confused when he won’t toe the party line, portraying him as a heretic and when that didn’t work portray him as a sex abuse abetter.

What’s my alternate explanation of the facts if the facts given by Vigano are true? Simply that he tried to be lenient and show mercy to sinners, and it exploded in his face. The facts allow either explanation, and if true, the Holy Father would be a liar to deny them. Yet at the same time to acknowledge that the facts are true will let his enemies have the rhetorical upper hand to portray him as an evil, malicious man. That’s is why I think he keeps silence. Because like I said before, the facts and interpretation of facts are two distinct things. Until such happens that they can make an airtight case against the character of the pope, I refuse to be lead into judging a good potentially man as malicious simple because of peer pressure or rhetoric. The Lord says to judge rightly and justly, not by mere appearances. And frankly, His is the only one whose judgements matter to me.

Vatican Rocked by Leak of 300-Page Dossier

ROME (ChurchMilitant.com) - The Vatican is reeling from news that the 300-page dossier containing names of members of the gay lobby — a dossier some believe led to Pope Benedict's resignation in 2013 — has been leaked to the media.

Il Fatto Quotidiano, an Italian journal read by Vatican officials, is confirming it has seen the 300-page dossier. "The report contains a detailed and disturbing picture of the moral and material corruption of the clergy, with names, surnames and circumstances," writes Francesca Fagnani.

We are ... able to view a document on papal letterhead included in the investigation, and here we publish an excerpt: It is a list of prelates and laymen who belong to the so-called gay lobby, which through blackmail and secrets could affect, or have conditioned, positions and careers (theirs, like those of others).

We will not reveal the names shown in the list, but we can confirm that among the names there are people removed by the Pope, others moved from office, others who still hold important positions in strategic organs for the Vatican, such as Propaganda Fide and even the Secretariat of State.

Among those implicated in the dossier is none other than Cdl. Kevin Farrell, prefect of the Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life, who has repeatedly claimed he knew nothing of former housemate Abp. Theodore McCarrick's homosexual predation, although they lived together on the same floor of the same house for six years in Washington, D.C.

I saw that Church Militant thing, Chris, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. So far, there's only one news source with this story. It's in Italian, but the Google Translate is very brief in what you can see. The rest is behind a pay-wall. Church Militant picked-up the Italian story. So far, we know nothing about what's in that document, or if it even exists. Admittedly, the odds are good, but we can't rush to judgement.

I've heard plenty of rhetoric on both sides of the papal debate. Both sides offer much to think about. This is not a time to make judgments, because there's simply too much mudslinging happening on both sides of the issue; until the real facts are sorted out, we simply won't know precisely what's what. And, in truth, we may never know all of it. The best we can do for now is protect our young men and children as best we can, and leave the rest in God's and Mary's hands.
.
There has been talk in some quarters about an open rebellion. If such a thing does happen, I think it's most likely to happen in the seminaries, where our young men are going to start standing up to any predators still in positions of authority there and saying, "Enough is enough! No more!"
.
When Mom cleans house, every room gets completely emptied out, the dust flies as she cleans, and everyone else in the house is run ragged, even if all they're doing is trying to stay out of her way. That's what we're seeing now, and it's why things are going to get a lot worse before they get better, because she's only just got started.

...The pope is also a person, who just like everybody else has greater or lesser credibility according to the correspondence between what he says and what he does. And it is precisely for this reason that is so important, for me and for millions of others, to know the truth about whether Archbishop Viganò spoke to the pope on June 23, 2013 about who Theodore McCarrick was, what he had done, and what he was still doing. Because if it is true, and Pope Bergoglio not only did nothing, but also rehabilitated McCarrick and followed his advice in naming bishops and cardinals in the USA, favoring friends and protégés of McCarrick, the pope’s credibility when he presides over the umpteenth Vatican conference next February will not be the same as it would be if Viganò has lied or is perhaps mistaken.

This is why those who, instead of trying to find out whether this – a fact, not an opinion – is true or not, blabber on about conspiracies and attacks on the pope and all the rest are “falsifiers of the word” by default. In democracies, where there is free speech, people can ask those in authority about the truth of whether something happened or not. Under regimes, no: a request for transparency and truth is immediately labeled as an assault on the charismatic leader, on the “Little Father” or the “Great Helmsman” and so forth. And the “falsifiers of the word” who react immediately attempt to discredit those who ask the questions, normally by accusing them of having numerous ignoble motives. This also is what we have seen happening.

Leaving aside the question of his resignation, it is the personal and human credibility of the pope that is now at stake. This creates a great drama for many Catholics and perhaps also for some who are not Catholic. Because of this, the “falsifiers of the word,” in their long dissertations and analyses, avoid any mention of this point – a point to which silence, however it may be adorned and embellished, does not constitute an adequate response. A monkey dressed in silk remains a monkey. In a vague manner, the C9 has referred to the possibility that the Holy See may formulate “any necessary clarifications” in response to “what has happened in recent weeks.”

Meanwhile, even the most vocal detractors of Archbishop Viganò now admit that “it is evident that the former nuncio to the United States has cited dates and documents in his possession (or which he has seen) about which there is no reason to doubt.” An important admission. And perhaps this means he also was not mistaken about his audience with Pope Bergoglio on June 23, 2013? The “clarifications” about this event will be key, perhaps above everything else. - Marco Tossatti

Hi RC! Thanks for asking me to check in, it feels really nice that you care to see how I'm doing!

I have doubts about the veracity of Vigano’s claims (which include information that has already been verified as being inaccurate via a vis previous restrictions allegedly placed by Pope Benedict,). Beyond that, if you look at Vigano's personal history (Wikipedua is a good start, and I did some personal verification by checking sources that the Wiki article is 100% factusl), he definitely has had an axe to grind. And there is that legal principal that if someone is caught lying on even one part of their testimony, they are regarded as not credible and their entire testimony us struck. That's something to be considered here.

That being said, I am very disturbed by the rush to judgment and lack of respect for the patience of due process that seems to be overtaking our society in many different areas. Thd fact is I dont know, not does anyone else, and we all have our personal biases that sway our judgment one way or another. I dont like how the mere whiff of accusation, with zero actual proof to back up allegations, seems to have become an automatic guilty verdict. I never thought I'd see the far left and far right in such cooperation in rushing to judgment it seems. I'm personally of the stance to let processes work the way they are supposed, and as mom always said, the truth will tell... and I believe this is what Pope Fesncus meant exactly with his response if silence... due process and factual evidence instead of the back and forth mudslinging in the media.

But I also have to emphasize, please no one take my opinion as an attack on theirs or their intelligence or anything else. I have and always still maintain that what bonds us together in fellowship as faithful Catholics completely eclipsed anything that divides us, and we all (myself very much included) need to strive to separate our political leanings from our spirituality and faith (inckuding among the higher ranks of our clergy). I've been massively guilty many times of failure to do that (though I still contend that following the clear social doctrine of God Church isn't right wing or left wing... it's a matter of not being a cafeteria Catholic to agree that paying less than a living wage as an example is something the Church teaches is immoral as one example, and it has taught this for a long while.

Emmett, a great and very edifying post as always. I totally agree with your take on the "why"s of what is actually going on and the motivations (again, that isn't a challenge or an invitation to start an argument with those that don't, please, my heart cant take that right now, literally, haha). With the very personal attacks that often come your way Emmett I just wanted you to know that I've never pretty much not agreed with you (other than very extremely minor things like possibly when the short time of Satan's increased power started exactly as really the only one that comes to mind). Your arguments are always logical and well thought out to me, and I think your one of the most charitable hearts I've ever been lucky enough to know.

The irony here is that many ‘princes’ in the Church appear to be above the law and they all seem to be living lavish lifestyles. I thought Pope Francis challenged this way of living and he was cleaning this mess up.. boy, was I wrong!! McCarrick is in a mansion for prayer and penance and Wuerl is paying upwards of 50000 to 70000 a month for retaining Cracker Jack lawyers. This is NOT the Church of the poor!!!

I believe that I should clarify what I mean by rhetoric and logic. I do not mean that rhetoric is always illogical. It can be logical. http://www.european-rhetoric.com/ethos-pathos-logos-modes-persuasion-aristotle/ :

'Of the modes of persuasion furnished by the spoken word there are three kinds. The first kind depends on the personal character of the speaker; the second on putting the audience into a certain frame of mind; the third on the proof, or apparent proof, provided by the words of the speech itself.'

Right now I see that the arguments are more about emotionally framing the situation rather than logically arguing it--channeling anger and mistrust for your own ends. I make this distinction because I am studying rhetoric, which most people think is about elegant prose--it is not. Now that I am studying it I see it everywhere.

I watched that documentary (though it was an older one rather than the 2018 Channel 4 one, though I found that one as well, called "Massacre At Ballymurphy" which is also on YouTube)... it's amazing that I knew so little of this even though I'd watched the whole BBC series on The Troubles, etc.). It doesn't seem surprising to me that the SAS was exposed as later feeding Loyalust terrorist groups Republicsn "hit" targets as well as arms with the British government being such a vicious, unlawful, and biased actor already in 1969. How no one either in the British government or military ever had to answer to justice in this event us just staggering to me. We like to think of the UK as a liberal democracy that runs on and by the rule of law, but that seems so illusionary/delusionary in hoax they treat Ireland. I sure pray that they live up to their agreements under the GFA and subsequent ones after Brexit, as I doubt if serious problems arise again that they wouldn't murder their own citizens again. :(

Jason R,
Evening mate, I've seen the channel 4 documentary,I'll have to have a look at the other one.

Ballymurphy is where I grew up so it's a pretty raw event, although it happened a few years before I was born it was still deeply etched on the pysche of the people. To the outside world it would be difficult to understand that a so called civilised country like the uk could act in such a manner, history and the many former colonies of britain would attest differently. As Emmett will confirm,we grew up literally walking around with targets on our backs, hunted by loyalist death squads fueled by a deep hatred of our Catholicism.Aided and abetted by the machinations of the british state. There are innumerable instances of collusion between them not only in the murders of republicans but civilians also.As you saw from the documentary the british military even slaughtered priests giving comfort to the dying!! If you want to explore further google brian nelson(fru) a british intelligence agent up to his eyes in the blood of innocent catholics as he was also involved in loyalist death squads. Even solicitors were assassinated such as Pat Finucane and Rosemary Nelson. From the creation of Northern Ireland Catholics were classed as distinctly second class citizens in all areas of life.It was when we started asserting our civil rights that the discrimination turned to slaughter! Anyway best leave it there or would be here all night!

Here's food for meditation: Is it just me, or does Psalm 108 (per the Douay-Rheims count) seem particularly applicable to the Church right now? To see this, you have to consider the Church in terms of the pure Bride of Christ, and not in terms of her human ministers.
.
To ensure you're reading the right psalm, it's the one that extensively curses the enemy, saying things like may his children be fatherless and his wife a widow, and in one generation let his name be wiped out, etc.
.
It seems to me that this could be seen as leveled against those who are calling for the resignation of Pope Francis. Again, does anybody else see this?

Anonymous said...

To be perfectly honest I see the whole situation as a repeat of the crucifixion, this time with the pope instead of the Lord. Throughout the Lord’s ministry He criticized the scribes and Pharisees, who saw themselves and portrayed themselves as super devout. He broke their traditions that were not divine but passed on from generation to generation. Whether you believe it or not the Latin mass was a tradition developed over time. The first masses, I believe, were at tables with agape love feasts. They had a zeal for looking pious, and missing the forest for the trees in the defense of traditions. For example, I cannot imagine our Lord being offended by washing Muslims’ feet, regardless of the customary interpretation of it being a symbol of apostolic succession. I just can’t imagine the Lord being offended at that.

From the beginning of his time as pope they have been criticizing him. First, they couldn’t believe that he did not share their priorities in what to preach. Then they tried to portray him as a heretic. Since that also failed to destroy his papacy, now the sex scandals accusations. I don’t know what is still to come, but since a few weeks ago I can’t help but see the situation changing from the crowd singing hosannas to, well, the point where the crowd will demanding his blood. I think that we are reaching the point where almost all his supporters will abandon him. If prophecy is correct a mob or maybe Russians or something will break into the Vatican and martyr the clergy, the pope will die in exile and from the survivors another pope will be elected.

JMC said...

There are so many similar prophecies regarding the Pope...and they all jibe with the vision at Fatima, of the "bishop in white." However it happens, eventually a Pope is going to be removed from wherever he is residing at the time, marched through a city whose streets are lined with corpses, and finally executed in front of a large cross. We have not yet been given the explanation of Our Lady that went with this vision, but the imagery of a Via Dolorosa ending at either the literal or a metaphorical Golgotha is plain. The Pope has always had much to suffer, and there's more to come. Those who keep Our Lord's promise in mind will be the ones who will stay with the Church, no matter what. Because the Church, despite the sins of her ministers, is still and always indefectible.

JMC -

Dunno. That's an odd Psalm to pick, and perhaps more appropriate than you might realize. It's a Psalm of David, so it's something he likely experienced personally. It's a man being unjustly persecuted. But it's also his wishing evil upon those unjustly persecuting him that makes this one of the Imprecatory Psalms. So while I see your point about the first part being related to Francis via the idea that he's being wrongly persecuted, the logical response is that he's heaping invective upon those doing the persecuting and wishing them ill.

This psalm is considered prophetic by such diverse people as St. Augustine and John Calvin. So there is that consideration. But the ultimate message is to leave vengeance to God. St. Augustine also said that the Imprecatory Psalms were important because of the window into our own souls that they open - a view into that element of our own hearts that would heap invective onto others.

It's also fascinating that you mentioned the DRB version because of this: "When he is judged, may he go out condemned; and may his prayer be turned to sin. May his days be few: and his bishopric let another take." Psalm 108:7-8. Given the context of our discussion, it's an interesting choice of translations to mention. (As an aside, RSV-CE has: When he is tried, let him come forth as guilty; let his prayer be counted as sin! May his days be few; may another seize his goods!" That's a pretty substantive difference in translation. From Hebrew it was, "let another take his office", and from Greek it was, "his overseeing may another take". "Overseeing" was "episcopon", so it's clear where they get the idea of a bishopric in the DRB.)

I sincerely hope that no pope would ever say such things about his detractors.

JMC said...

Mark W: Thanks for the insights regarding the imprecatory psalms; I've always wondered about them, simply because of the ill-wishing they involve. I cited the DR translation simply because that's the one I was reading (I pray the Divine Office from a 1940s edition, which uses that translation for its psalms). I tend to prefer that translation myself, simply because it's closest to the Latin of the Vulgate. (Not being learned in ancient Hebrew and Greek, I can't go to those sources; wish I could.)
.
It was specifically the line about "let his bishopric another take" that made me think of the application to the Church. I've read in several places that many of the psalms can be applied to the Church, as well as to personal experiences of King David, not to mention those that specifically refer to the Messiah. In this case, what I took from it was essentially a warning about jumping to conclusions about Pope Francis in this time of crisis. We will probably never know his motivations; there's a lot about the current scandals that we will probably never learn. Let legal action be taken where applicable, and let those who are bona fide witnesses come forward; let's leave the rest in God's hands where it belongs. I really don't think there's much any given individual can do; this is one of those difficult situations where all we can do is pray for those on the front lines. Aside from the Rosary, I would also strongly recommend the Seven Sorrows of Mary, especially since we just had the Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows.

RC, I csng imagine what you and Emmett have lived through... and could you imagine if America used it's full force to crush the contemporary US civil rights movement in the same fashion as the Brits did, with mass detention without charges or trial, using the KKK as their death squads, joining full in thd murder six oppression that thd RUC used instead of going in to stop those racist Sourhetn sheriff's like Bull whatever his name was, or the Feds standing idly by when George Wallace tried to physically block African-Americans from registering for school like Paisley blocked Catholics from entering churches to attend Mass with more or less encouragement. If America had acted like Britain did they would have with all their power still become a parish state among the global community, but GB? *crickets chirping*. The deaths the Brits caused among its colonialized populations eclipse the Holocsust easily, even if we just count the 29th century (e.g. Churchill and the manufactured Bengsli famine that killed millions in a single year, 1943, and the land grabs, etc. Their playbook in Africa and South Asia was the same as earlier in Ireland with land theft, famine as a tool of control, etc. The global outrage at the march in Charlottesville vs. when the Appreticd Boys and Orangemen do the same thing every single year for an entire *season*... more crickets.

Jason R. said...

I can't come to any other conclusion other than anti-Catholicism and white supremacist attitudes. At least Germany has made concrete actions for decades to try to atone for the Holocaust.

I know a little of discrimination, like many veterans wouldn't give me candy right while my friends did at Halloween because my parents were from Germany... that hatred of "the enemy" was very real and visceral in the 70s and 80s still in Canada, to the point that we were taught so kids never to talk anyone where Dad was from. We even got turned away at the US border (!) going to holiday to the Black Hills in 1975 because my parents were born in Posen/Poznan and were considered a security risk lol. Our Catholuc elementary school shared a lot with a public school, just separated by a fence... we were "Cat-lickers" and their were fights, sometimes in huge crowds on both sides, every single day after school based soleky on our religion, this in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan in the 1970s. I know many Orangemen (and they all to a one are coincidentally Masons/Shriners) including cousins, who hated my mom especially solely because she was Catholuc. The Orange Order had a stranglehold on Canadian politics since our founding in 1867, I don't think there was a single mayor in Toronto that wasn't an Orangeman until after the War, and Newfoundland is still to this day basically an Orange Order run society. It really hurt as a kid, and I only got a tiny taste of what you fellas had gone through, actually being hunted to be beaten or killed for your faith, and how many martyrs in N. Ireland that were murdered by the State that ateny really viewed as martyrs. Even down the street from me a neighbor flies a big Ulster flag every day still, and I see those red-hand flag license plates everywhere (and, again, suspiciously enough, almost always with a Mason/Shriner emblem on the back of the vehicle so well). I got blackballed working for the Bank of Montreal from any promotions even though I had the best metrics in our branch when I repeatedly refused luncheons and invitations to become a Mason... we were the second biggest branch in the entire country with a staff of between 30 and 40 people, and I was the *only* employee that wasn't a Freemason or Daughter of Job!!! And this was the mid to late 90s. I was absolutely floored and quit in frustration, but it's like this hidden layer of society that exists that most people just dont realize here. Please, dont think I'm comparing my experience at all to the suffering of you guys and God Catholic community in occupied Ireland, other than to show how powerful and engrained anti-Catholic bigotry is even in former colonies like Canada even still and even though Catholics are the biggest demographic in the whole country... French Canadians, and not just Quebecois, were horrible mistreated. On Quebec license plates it says "I Remember...", in French of course, as their official slogan, referring to the mass deportation of close to all of Acadia (renamed New Brubswick) to work basically as slaves, many in Louisiana and the Caribbean, just as with Catholic Highland Scots and Irish were, too, if I'm not mistaken. Ah, ok, I should stop ranting O_o.... but it's incredible how the British got away with genocide in many areas with no historical repercussions at all go speak of, but instead are glorified for it in populations like the Scottish Protestant plantationists in N. Ireland... it gets ma dander up like nothing else (other than maybe tropes such as celibacy turns a normal person into a pedophile... but only if you're Catholic, of course, otherwise that idea is, of course, sheer lunacy!! etc.).

Jason R. said...

But it is as Pope Francis says, we have largely gotten used to not being severely prohibited from practicing our faith, that we forget that the natural state of the Church is suffering and persecution just as with Our Lord. I forget the Archbishop in America not too too long ago in his retirement address in very much seriousness said he fully expected that his successor would eventually die as s prisoner, and the successor after that would be martyred in God public square... it sounded almost prophetic to my ears, because one can see that heavkly anti-Catholic bias bubbling under the surface everywhere.

On a completely different topic, did anyone that heard or read the 1st Reading from Mass today get any sense of how well it fit with the power struggle at the top of the Church hierarchy right now, specifically on how a Christian should face their accusers, and how apropos it seemed no matter which side of the proverbial fence you fall RE: this hot topic? I'm wondering if I was reading something into the reading that might not have any connection... but I certainly was really struck by it.

Also, a big hello to Mark, JMC, Bridget, various Anonymi (sp? haha), and all other, too... it is soooooo nice to be reading all of your words again, this place feels very much like a virtual home, and if I daresay, a virtual family (and like all families we often may vigorously disagree, but hopefully not vehemently or with spite or anger or hatred, but always with charity and respect for opposing viewpoints). The world loves nothing better than seeing noy just different Faith's, but intercide Christians, and increasingly it feels, fellow Catholics now, at each other's throats... and also moreso because of the confusion between what is dogma vs. practice, and perhaps unwisely mixing politics and religion I believe. Let us try to never, ever lose sight of our unity by the blood and passion of Our Lord and protection and intercession of Our Lady... much love to everyone!

I suspect a good many of us are seeing pointers to today's crisis in many scriptural readings. I mean, face it, we're all clutching at straws here, trying to keep from despairing over this mess; it only makes sense that we see things in God's word that may o; Ir may not be there...though knowing how many layers of meaning there are to most biblical readings, it probably really IS there. ;D

Being a veteran of a dysfunctional family, I can tell that this is nothing close. Your feeling of virtual home and family is spot-on, Jason; I feel the same way. In my family, any disagreement, no matter how small, always devolved into a screaming argument; it took a good many years after I got out of there for me to learn that doing something a different way didn't necessarily mean you were doing it wrong. (Yeah, I used to have screaming arguments with my mother about whether to wash the outside or the inside of a window first. I never did figure out why she thought it made a difference... ;D)

I do not present this as fact, as I have expressed before, I find it interesting as a possible explanation regarding Jerusalem's future. At worst this brings me an awareness of the Bible and its contents.
So i say in advance the conclusion is up to you, but the knowledge of the writings of the Bible is neither Protestant or Catholic, actually it is Jewish. if you watch you will recognize the value of the topic.

Welcome back, Jason! Nice to see you around!

I hope Emmett writes more frequently. Very interesting prophecies.

Jason, concerning the imperialism of the British, I do think that perhaps apostasy is the price that nations that have never made reperations for historic wrongs have to pay. Sometimes I look at the world and it seems to me that knowing the true God and and abandoning Him is worse than have never known Him. Ignorant people may lack culpability, but those who prefer Mammon to God Himself, what excuse will they have! Normally we think of prosperous people as blessed and suffering people as cursed but Jesus preached the opposite.

Hi James,

Third Secret of Fatima and Corruption in the Catholic Church

We track the prophecies of corruption in the Catholic Church beginning with the vision of Pope Leo XIII in 1884 (and St Michael's Prayer) and move up through Our Lady of Fatima in 1917 and Our Lady of Akita in 1973. We also discuss Our Lady of Good Success.

He was known as a theologian, Biblical scholar and ascetic writhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0UT6Uvnva4er, so people of all kinds, from the emperor down, wrote to consult him. His numerous works, including a multitude of letters, consist of denunciations of heresy, paganism, abuses of discipline and crimes, of rules and principles of asceticism, especially maxims about the religious life. Mark W said...

I just finished it. My initial impression is that it adds little to the conversation as to whether Martin is a saint or a huckster. It has a great many people that knew Martin, and their views of him are very well portrayed, but it lacks historical heft. A documentary filmmaker is not obligated to tell the truth, but to support their opinion (Michael Moore?). As such, this isn't history. But there are a couple of fascinating tidbits.

First off, the priests deal very little with Martin personally. They deal with the general nature of exorcism, read from the CCC, etc. It's not until the very end that you get one priest talking about Martin directly. They speak in very general terms.

And the antagonist in this is Robert Blair Kaiser. This is the same guy that accused Martin of having an affair with his wife. Interestingly, they were both members of the SJ and left. Kaiser became a writer for the left/heterodox side, and Martin became a writer more on the right/orthodox side. If I'm not mistaken, Kaiser was diagnosed with schizophrenia at one point. So there are many points of contention between the two.

Lastly, I didn't know that Martin had survived his fall for a few days. That was an interesting tidbit. But overall, I don't think it adds too much to the conversation.

There's an Irish priest in it named Eugene O'Neill. There's another that comes in half way though named Fr. Edward McNamara. But I don't recall seeing a Fr. Paddy McCafferty in it.

Lucifer In The Vatican - Father Malachi Martin

The WILD VOICE
Published on Jun 13, 2016
Father Malachi Martin says "There was this consecration, this enthronement of Satan within the Vatican, of Lucifer by the way. It's a historical fact. It was done one particular day by a certain group of people representing Luciferians all over the world, especially American Luciferians. It was done. Therefore, in a certain sense, Lucifer has power. He doesn't own yet, but I'm sure he hopes to own some Pope as his man"
The audio is from an interview conducted in the 1990s with Father Malachi Martin. We hope you might listen to this Priest's words from yesterday in the context of today's state of our Church, particularly with respect to the reign of False Prophet Pope Francis.
https://TheWILDVOICE.org

Malachi Martin (1921 - 1999) was an Irish Catholic priest and writer on the Catholic Church. Originally ordained as a Jesuit priest, he became Professor of Palaeography at the Vatican's Pontifical Biblical Institute. From 1958 he served as secretary to Cardinal Bea during preparations for the Second Vatican Council. Disillusioned by reforms, he asked to be released from certain of his Jesuit vows in 1964 and moved to New York City. His 17 novels and non-fiction books were frequently critical of the Catholic Church, which he believed had failed to act on the third prophecy revealed by the Virgin Mary at Fátima. His work often dealt with satanism, demonic possession, and exorcism, liberation theology, the Second Vatican Council, the Tridentine liturgy, Catholic dogma, modernism, the financial history of the Church, the New World Order and the geopolitical importance of the Pope. Martin continued to offer Mass privately each day in the Tridentine Mass form, and vigorously exercised his priestly ministry all the way up until his death.
He was strongly supported by some traditional Catholic sources and severely criticized by highly liberal sources. He was a periodic guest on Art Bell's radio program, Coast to Coast AM, between 1995 and 1998. In the final years before his death, Martin was received in a private audience by Pope John Paul II. Afterwards, he started working on a book with the working title Primacy: How the Institutional Roman Catholic Church became a Creature of the New World Order.

do you think Fatima is a warning against nothing??

Thomas said...

Fatima appears to be a warning to all of humanity. But I do think that the third secret might be legitimate. I happen to think that the Vatican interpreted it right but may have gotten the timing wrong. It appears to me to be about a time when priests, religious and even a pope will be put to death. When Jacinta and Lucy discussed the third secret there was a vision of a mob hurling insults and stones at a pope.

IMO, an epic chastisement will come when the world, and even some in Church bring about the persecution, and remotely cause, the assassination of a pope. There will then be one shepherd, one faith, one baptism in the world of those who survive.

In fact, i do not think we are in the antichrist, False prophet time as yet.
My interest is what is happening today, particularly in the middle east and the consequences for Israel.
I did not mean to present this as my idea. I thought the introduction was linked to the video. p
please excuse my lack of explanation.
I enjoy all these videos and talks regarding the condition of our times..
I wonder if we think that when the false prophet arrives that he will have a big sign on his chest.
do we believe all the Marian warnings?

chris said...

hi Thomas
thanks for your post regarding the Fatima secret. I have come to the realization that the fulcrum to this information is the 1960's date.. in 1960 things will become more clear.......

was the assassination experienced as yet?? why is the date important?
in retrospect, the evidence and news points singularly to the coming changes in work at the time. I think it has become clear the secret points to the existing clergy, and the danger to us with the direction they, the clergy directs us.
would they clergy reveal an accepted Marian apparition which sends the message that the clergy is corrupt, vile and decedent?
This is why the secret has not been revealed.

what do you think??

Jason R. said...

I can't help but wonder sometimes if the mob hurling insults at the Pope might not be a portrayal of something beginning right now, with certain members of the mob not even realizing they're part of this picture (I'd include anyone who is calling the Pope the False Prophet possible members... how is that any different than extreme haters of the Church like Ian Paisley, etc.?). Surely we haven't gotten so entrenched in political positions that we can't civilly disagree with that kind of hyperbole? I just don't think those kind of intensifiers add to a conversation but rather just serve to inflame and separate different viewpoints further and further. I worry a lot about another schism to rival the previous two big ones, and two Churches, one only with a right-wing viewpoint and the other with only a left-wing viewpoint, oy yoy yoy... but in the end all will be united, so I guess what needs to be will be.

This is completely OT, but when I spent time in formation considering a vocation back in my early 20s (I came so close to deciding to become a priest, but it wasn't to be), I first found out about the practice of having the relic(s) of a saint (or saints) built into the altars in churches. I've been reading Revelations again after this last post of Emmett's and when I came across this I wondered if this is where that practice originated (I know that's probably a stretch), but can't find much on the topic online:

Rev 6:9-10 (NJB)

"When he broke the fifth seal, I saw underneath the altar the souls of all the people who had been killed on account of the Word of God, for witnessing to it.

They shouted in a loud voice, 'Holy, true Master, how much longer will you wait before you pass sentence and take vengeance for our death on the inhabitants of the earth?'"

Thomas said...

> This is why the secret has not been revealed.

I disagree with this. I happen to think that after the pope is killed God will punish His enemies, both inside and outside the Church (La Salette). I think the revelation of Akita tells us what happens after the enemies of God strike the shepherd and scatter the sheep, whereas the third secret is a vision of the pope being put to death. Portugal will keep the faith, despite the persecution and the pope dying. That's how I see it.

In my opinion, this whole anti-God movement started running the agenda of the world around the 60's. That's when the corruption went overt rather than remaining occult among the elites. It's going to keep getting worse and worse will they decide to wipe Christianity off the face of the world (for "freedom" or whatever). We have reached a point where the media can tell people when to feel angry, what to feel angry at, what to believe, etc. We are constantly bombarded propaganda. And, I am sorry to say, this is not just in the secular sphere. So many things people feel outraged at the pope and Vatican for feel more like the religious media telling them what to feel outraged for. I will reserve any judgment or outrage at the youth synod documents until I read them for myself, for example.

> I can't help but wonder sometimes if the mob hurling insults at the Pope might not be a portrayal of something beginning right now, with certain members of the mob not even realizing they're part of this picture.

It would be supreme irony if the very ones creating conspiracy theories about the pope and Fatima find themselves fulfilling the bad side of prophecy despite not wanting to. Our Lady of Quito said that the very ones who should defend the rights of the Church would hand it over to persecution. Can't tell is she's talking about upper leadership or the whole movement to save the Church from its pope.

Mark W said...

I don't know what to think about Fatima, to be honest. There are a lot of different contradictions in what was released vs. what was originally seen by others. As a result, I don't really know if we have the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

I still think that a lot of things - like popes being killed, or Rome sacked again - might just be taken too literally. It's entirely possible that a great many things will pass us by unnoticed. It's also possible that you'll get a 2x4 between the eyes, but it's hard to say just now.

I do think it's interesting that we've reverted to the Reformation in some respects. Priests fleeing their bishops for fear of their lives or sanity, and ordinary people willing to hide them. It all reminds of the priest holes from the English Reformation. And two priests in my diocese have vanished. One fled the law about a month ago, as he was about to be arrested for sexual misconduct with a parishioner. The other just disappeared. No one has seen him in three months. I've talked to several people, and no one has any idea what happened to him. And I've been digging around on Malachi Martin a bit. I haven't found much about him that's interesting, but in researching him I discovered at least 6 murders of priests in the US in the 80s and 90s. Four in the western states, one in Wisconsin, and one in Chicago (I think). All of them have remained unsolved.

Triumphal Arch of Palmyra Comes To Washington D.C.

September 24, 2018

On September 26th the “Triumphal Arch of Palmyra” better known as the “Temple of Baal” will appear in Washington D.C.. “The Institute of Digital Archeology” provides us with these details. This institute has revived this perversion and symbol of evil and they have paraded it around the world for a few years now. We wrote about this subject in an article titled, “The Temple Of Baal Comes To The United States“.
before I move forward, the Triumphal Arch of Palmyra is not technically the “Temple of Baal”. However, the arch connected the street to the Temple of Baal. In my mind, it is the same thing, some people just like to sugar coat a sour pickle.
Reports indicate this monument will be on display in Washington D.C. from September 26-30th.

That span of time covers another religions holiday. I always find that interesting, the occult loves to do this type of thing around religious dates and the children of Satan certainly love their god and father.

On another note, you should also remember September 29th happens to be the true birthdate of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

So instead of bringing Jesus Christ to Washington D.C., our nation’s capital, we are bringing a symbol of Satan to Washington D.C. to observe and honor.

Jason R. said...

Thomas, I find all you wrote to make a lot of sense, and that ppint you made about all the things that seem to ve contributing to a societal breakdown (promiscuity, crass materialism, neglect of the helpless and those trapped in poverty, wide-spread drug abuse, the breakdown of the nuclear family, paedophilia, infanticide, etc.) were commonplace among elites, be they financial elites or cultural elites, since time immemorial before they were main-streamed in the mid-60s, and moral stigmas eroded (and that process is continuing).

I'm no one in a position to throw any rocks to be sure; I'm divorced, I've engaged in premarital sex many times, I've abused all sorts of drugs, I've compulsively watched pornography, the same with lying, etc... I am not a good person. I like to think of myself as one, but my actions just don't fit that self-narrative.

But when I sin I at least I recognize it as such, and that is a big difference. I feel well-placed remorse, try to atone, and pray for forgiveness, and that I desire nothing save recognizing and following God's will in my life. So it feels like maybe (and this may sound like a cop-out) that the denial that sin is sin and evil is evil might be just as harmful if not moreso as this basic denial that morality is more than an arbitrary "social construct", that good and evil are merely morally relativistic judgment calls, itself is a prelude to becoming mired in sinful behavior than the sins themselves?

I wouldn't be at all surprised if many of us even right here may yet be imprisoned for our religious beliefs in our lifetimes if we persist in them. There are too many even recent examples of how freedoms we so take for granted have been removed so quickly (e.g. Germany after the false flag Reichsrag fire). I worry that if it were to come down to my very life or especially the lives of my loved ones if I'd have the courage to pass that ultimate test of faith.

Thomas said...

I somewhat think that people do not condemn any deed as evil because they want nobody to reproach them of their own disordered desires. Not many people can accept that they’ve done something evil and confront in the face, seeking forgiveness.

I would say that the one thing that kept me from seeking God in my formative years is my inability to truly see myself as a sinner. If evil doesn't exist, I cannot be a sinner. I cannot see myself as a sinner, so evil must not exist. Oh, sure, Hitler and Stalin are very bad men. But most men are not like them. If it feels good, can it really be wrong to choose? Even if everyone does it? If I won’t judge you, return the favor by not judging me.

John 3:

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.

https://www.unsealed.org/2017/02/the-gospel-in-stars.html

While researching the astronomical alignment next September that may be the sign John saw in Revelation 12, it occurred to me to revisit the possible dates surrounding Christ's first advent and see if there were any other "signs in the sky" around that time. I've already written extensively on possible dates for Jesus' birth (primarily based on Craig Chester and Rick Larson's research and The Bethlehem Star documentary), so I won't touch on that here, suffice to say that the argument goes Jesus was conceived on the Feast of Trumpets in 3 BC, was born in June of 2 BC, and was visited by the magi on December 25th of 2 BC. These dates require Herod to have died in 1 BC, rather 4 BC, which is a position growing in scholarly support (see here, here, and here). I've been scouring through research trying to find what are the most likely dates for the key events around the end of Jesus' first advent, so after comparing the various theories and research papers out there, here are the most persuasive dates to me:

Jesus' Triumphal Entry Into Jerusalem: Sunday, March 29, 33 AD

chris said...

I recall in previous postings a disbelief in a solar eclipse during the Rssurection of Jesus.

Author’s Background

Phlegon, born about A.D. 80, was a secular historian who lived in the second century.[1] There are two books credited to his name:Chronicles and the Olympiads. Little is known about Phlegon, but he made reference to Christ. The first quote below is unique to Origen. The second quote is recorded by Philopon. The third quote is from Julius Africanus and the last is from Jerome. The reader should note that Phlegon’s comment that an eclipse of the sun occurred during Jesus’ death was impossible (see Thallus) since the Jewish Passover occurs during a full moon. It is important to note that 1) an eclipse of the sun cannot occur during a full moon since the moon would be on the opposite of the earth and 2) that Jesus died on Passover during a full moon. It is important to read Thallus’ comments to completely understand the issue.
Reference To Jesus Christ

“And with regard to the eclipse in the time of Tiberius Caesar, in whose reign Jesus appears to have been crucified, and the great earthquakes which then took place . . . ” – Origen, “Against Celsus”, Book 2.33

“Phlegon mentioned the eclipse which took place during the crucifixion of the Lord Jesus Christ, and no other (eclipse); it is clear that he did not know from his sources about any (similar) eclipse in previous times . . . and this is shown by the historical account of Tiberius Caesar.” – Philopon, De. opif. mund. II 21 [2]

“Phlegon records that, in the time of Tiberius Cæsar, at full moon, there was a full eclipse of the sun from the sixth hour to the ninth – manifestly that one of which we speak. But what has an eclipse in common with an earthquake, the rending rocks, and the resurrection of the dead, and so great a perturbation throughout the universe? . . . And calculation makes out that the period of 70 weeks, as noted in Daniel, is completed at this time.” – Julius Africanus, Chronography, 18.1

“In the fourth year, however, of Olympiad 202, an eclipse of the sun happened, greater and more excellent than any that had happened before it; at the sixth hour, day turned into dark night, so that the stars were seen in the sky, and an earthquake in Bithynia toppled many buildings of the city of Nicaea.” – Phlegon’s 13th book quoted in Jerome’s translation of Eusebius’ Chronicle, 202 Olympiad.
Conclusion

These statements reveal several key things:

Christ was crucified.
Julius Africanus states that Christ died at the end of Daniel’s 70 week prophecy.
The sun was darkened during Christ’s death.
A solar eclipse supposedly occurred during a full moon. However, this is scientifically impossible.
A great earthquake occurred during Christ’s death.
The facts were recorded in a historical account of Tiberius.

I am pondering what judgement and punishment our lord will pour out against Eire. I think your post a few years ago about the prophecy of St Patrick where Ireland is consumed by the sea is more important than ever, or do you see that time much further into endtime prophecy? As if it isn't the most common of knowledge to even the most hardcore anti-Catholic bigot that we believe Satan actively tempts people towards sin, yet they acted like this was the first time that concept had even been floated. The attacks on our Church seem to be getting more brazenly knowingly deceptive it is seeming.

I made a commitment to go to Mass every day this month no matter how much pain I might be in (though not on Mondays as we don't have any daily Masses then), but I was stymied in that already today as neither parish had their regular Masses today... and I couldn't get an answer why not from either office. It made me a bit nervous as we had a very big scandal in 2009 where the Spiritan order left (I wont get into details), so it was a but deja vu-ish. But I'm probably being paranoid, and there are still lots of Masses coming up this month to do my best at least.

I can't even imagine the graces that would shower down on this world of ours if every practicing Catholic said the Rosary for all of October. I don't think any Holy Father would grandstand, so I wonder though if the request may be for even more important reasons than we realize, like Pope St. John Paul's declaration of the Year of Mercy, and promotion of the Chaplet of Divine Mercy with an almost desperate urgency it felt to me at the time, like the world was much more in bed of Our Lord's mercy than any of us may have known (or still know). I'm feeling that same inkling with this request, I feel an urgent need to answer this call, and I never pray the Rosary (not because I have any dislike of it, I just always struggle for some reason not to fall asleep as stupidxl as that may sound)... but two days in and I'm still awake! Praying along with a nice YouTube set with illustrations for each mystery maybe is helping. I'm babbling a bit, I think I'm too tired to be posting right now, whoops.

Don't worry about falling asleep. When I was a kid, I had an extra-early bedtime, and it wasn't unusual for me to lie there wide awake until long after my parents had gone to bed themselves. I occupied the time by praying the Rosary, and discovered that it often lulled me to sleep. I could explore reasons for that (boredom was certainly not one of them), but not only do I doubt anyone here would be interested, it would take too may posts to tell the whole tale. Long story short, yes, I often fell asleep, yet in later years the graces and favors attached to that prayer became very obvious to me. So I suspect that the effort counts, whether you actually manage to complete it or not. ;D

Jesus didn't cover up child molesters and accuse victims of being satanic. What you're saying is literally blasphemous.

Who accused child abuse victms of being Satanic? Sorry, not following your thoughts’ here

Do you mean this? https://thestormatimeofmercy.wordpress.com/2018/10/04/demonic-activity-online/

If so it appears evident that demons are tempting people to commit a horrible injustice against the Church soon out of anger at the victim abuse, similar to how they are tempted to rash judgement because of circumstantial evidence and half truths. The pope told the journalists he would be silent; he only told them to critically look at the accusations and make their own judgements. I happen to think that was a mistake that is to late to undo at this point. But God does not need your help to smite the pope.

Hi Jason,

I read Oullet's statement. It's wholly unsatisfying as a response.

Hinting that Vigano's testimony is blasphemous is outright wrong. Well, it's wrong short of deifying a pope.

Failing to refer to him as a bishop is questionable at best, and lacks respect.

Others have said that the style changes in the document, and that indicates that it was written by more than one author. That's a valid area of historical or literary document criticism, but I don't think - in fairness - that I'd apply it to this particular statement given that we only have translations to read from. I'm no longer qualified to try and translate the French, and even if I was I was never good enough to determine stylistic shifts in a single text.

Oullet does confirm, perhaps inadvertently, that McCarrick was under some form of restriction imposed by Benedict XVI. Restrictions without being sanctions; distinctions without differences.

All in all, Oullet is far less convincing than Vigano. While Oullet's statement makes some good points in some parts, the statement itself is lacking in many areas.

JMC said...

There's also the fact that it's not unknown for a writer to shift styles in a single document, especially if he's interrupted and comes back to it at a later time. It's not something you expect of someone who routinely writes documents, but it does occasionally slip through the editing process.

Anonymous said...

> Hinting that Vigano's testimony is blasphemous is outright wrong. Well, it's wrong short of deifying a pope.

It's not, if you consider that the office of the Papacy is guided by the Holy Spirit. It's literally true that the pope is second in command after God, by God's own will. Too much democracy and politics have clouded peoples' minds. The Church is not some political arena, and the pope is not a democratically elected leader. Hence it follows, that if you are not fairly certain that God has given you the mission to oppose the pope, learn from what happened to Korah.

It is quite clear to me that over the years most the English speaking Catholic blogosphere has become a horrid place of bitterness, self-righteousnss, sarcasm and division. People are bringing the same political polarization of US politics into the Church. If a bishop says anything that sounds "liberal" like social justice (commandment 7 in the catechism), he is marked as a false apostle or modernist. Who are the true apostles? Anyone who agree with my preferences in Church and interpretations of Church teaching. It's no longer just the progressives revolting against Church authority. It's also the conservatives. Almost everyone is chasing after their preferred teachers and despising those sent by God. And if you defend the hierarchy, including the current successor of the prince of the apostles? You're an ultramontanist,

Cardinal Oullet confirmed that Pope Benedict put sanctions on McCarrick, and that Pope Francis restored him. This was all admitted in the beginning of the letter, but then Cardinal Oullet spent page upon page criticizing Archbishop Vigano for hurting the reputation of Church leaders!

It's pretty unbelievable that a Cardinal's main concern was his and his colleagues' reputations, and that he both admitted and didn't care about McCarrick's sexual abuse.

Mark W said...

Honestly, I have a question for the lot of you:

We all agree that there will be a purification of the Church, right? So what did you expect this purification to look like?

JMC said...

Bingo, Mark. Nail on the head and all that stuff. Since God's intent is to save all souls, purification always involves suffering for purposes of penance and expiation. This time, the suffering involves the pain we all feel as we watch the Mystical Body descend into bickering; the family of the Church has become dysfunctional. As behavioral psychologists will tell you, when people feel threatened, they will fight each other. It's not rational; it's a subconscious, primitive response that once served the purpose of survival. Right now, we are feeling threatened by all that is happening around us, and so we bicker.
.
God chastises to save, in the same way a wise parent will employ punishment to steer a child on the right path. We should, at this point, concentrate on prayer and fasting (or other sacrifice for those who, for medical reasons, are unable to fast), and do our best to control the argumentative impulse.
.
God bless.

I haven't done very well so far on praying the Rosary everyday this month, but I'm going to really try to re-double my efforts and just ask for Our Lady to help heal this wound in the Church no matter who is right and who is wrong... I was always taught that the most work our hands can do is when they're folded in prayer, so that's the advice I should probably have heeded rather than picking fights online (my apologies!).

I finally got around to starting to read a book Emmett made reference to, Secret Still Hidden, and it's sure a page-turner (I was still reading when the sun rose this morning, lol)... if anyone is interested, here's a link to the free copy online:

Hi, Ann, and welcome. There's not really a timeline for future events. Emmett says he has some ideas, but won't divulge anything. My feeling is that we'll encounter things rather rapidly from here on. But there's not an expected time frame per se.

Mark W said...

I finished Secret Still Hidden. Wow. That they'd intentionally hide a message from Mary herself, and then go so far as to make it look like Lucia made up parts of it, that's really amazing. Yes, you can count me as a "Fatamist" now, though I was on the fence before reading the book.

But the book itself plays into some research that I've been doing as well. Here's where things get really creepy.

The principal guy involved in the whole Fatima cover-up was Cardinal Bertone. Yes, he was only the mouthpiece, and it's pretty clear that others were pulling his strings. But he's the most prominent face and voice of the cover-up.

Tarchisio Cardinal Bertone was ordained a priest and consecrated a bishop by the same man - archbishop Albino Mensa. Mensa is named on the Pecorelli List. This is a list of Italian priests, bishops, archbishops, and cardinals that Italian journalist Carmine Pecorelli had compiled. It's a list of members of Italian masonic organizations. Mensa's masonic code name was "MENA", and he joined freemasonry in 1959. By the way - Pecorelli was mysteriously murdered in 1979, and no one was ever arrested.

The other primary player in the Fatima cover-up was Angelo Cardinal Sodano. Bertone replaced Sodano as secretary of state. Sodano was consecrated a bishop by Augustino Cardinal Casaroli. Casaroli was also on the Pecorelli List - his code name was "CASA" and he joined the lodge in 1957. But Casaroli goes beyond this. He was mentioned in the Metrokhin Archive; he was on the payroll of the KGB at some point. So, yes, JPII's right hand man was also secretly a KGB agent. But wait, there's more... Casaroli is also mentioned as having been a participant in a satanic black mass in the Vatican in 1963. Now, this last thing can't be proven, there are only rumors of it. But those rumors seem to be pretty pervasive and to my knowledge no one has ever refuted them, and one victim has passed several polygraph tests. There were 4 names associated with this black mass, and two of them were thick in the sex abuse scandal, though a rather early version of it.

This is definitely guilt-by-association, I freely admit that. But one thing I've noticed about these associations is that birds of a feather seem to flock together, as they say. It's odd how many bishops that protected abusive or homosexual priests were all in the same seminary, or ordained an unusually high number of pervert priests. There's smoke here, so there's likely fire as well though I don't know that anyone will ever prove it.

But doesn't it strike you as odd that the two most visible people involved in the Fatima cover-up were consecrated by people listed as Freemasons and potentially KGB agents and satanists? It gets harder and harder to see this as a coincidence.

JMC said...

Mark, have you ever read Malachi Martin's "Windswept House"? Two of the incidents you mention were described in that book, particularly the black mass of 1963. In the book, this mass was central to everything that followed. Granted, the book was fictional, but in a recorded interview following the book. Fr. Martin stated that that mass actually occurred, and that the murder of one of the characters later in the story was based on one that actually happened, the victim having been someone personally known to him - and his murder was never solved. I don't know for certain if the incidents you describe are the ones he used in his book, and he's no longer around for anyone to ask, but I suspect you may have just increased his veracity by a good margin.

Mark W said...

Hey JMC - I'm familiar with Windswept House, but I haven't read it. I never got around to it, and now I don't want to in order to avoid bias.

I can't say that Martin's claims are substantiated by anything I've researched. To me, Martin is still something of an enigma wrapped in a mystery. But he was certainly in the right place at the right time to know a great many things, and would have known the right people to ask. He worked for Cardinal Bea, and he was on the Pecorelli List as well.

But circumstantial evidence certainly seems to lean a bit in Martin's favor. He's been sufficiently well researched and recorded, that I doubt we'll ever find a document that substantiates him entirely.

And as I've said before - the only people that would have documentary evidence have every reason to drop said evidence into an incinerator.

Thomas said...

I don't want to be contentious but this is not possible:

"the Catholic Church as an institution is corrupted and broken."

I went fully sede, starting out a Fatimist. The Church can NOT fail, and yes it has failed its primary mission if there's a counter Church in Rome and the real Church is scattered among a few people in some small American towns. The Church in a visible society, it is apostolic, it is indefectible. Every other part of the Church can lose the faith except the See of Rome under the pope, who has been blessed with unfailing faith (Vatican I). This is doctrine as opposed to interpretion of private revelation.

The sede mindset is this: to make each individual the true judge of Catholicism. Disagree with the pope? He is a heretic. The pope and bishops no longer teachers to correct and lead the Church, maybe criticize the flaws of the faithful (like Jesus!), but are mere spokesmen for Catholic ideology. If they don't do it the way we wish, they must be replaced as bad spokesmen like politicians in a democracy. Sacrilege suddenly doesn't apply when they are treated irreverently in the 21st century.

I don't know how to say anything without raising contention, but I am pretty sure the devil is tempting Catholics to hate this pope and raise up simultaneously an internal and external persecution. I think that Pope Francis is the one, the martyr pope that Emmett wrote about. If I am wrong, I have a feeling that liberal Catholics will be put to the test next. Either way, the Church will be pruned.

Emmett I pray for you and your family and I will continue daily. But I don't think I can post here without being contentious. I don't want any part in the upcoming schism, or be judged as a sower of division among brethren. Therefore I will stop posting.

John Fitzgerald said...

I found that post of great value, Thomas. You're not sowing contention. You're showing wisdom and discernment and calming this overheated atmosphere down.

Mark W said...

"when will everyone start to recognize Malichi Martin as a provider of information.?????"

Hi Chris - It's not that simple.

As I've said before, my degree is in history. I look at these things through the lens of a historian, and I try to do justice to the entire narrative, not just small pieces here and there. And I assure you, both my undergrad and grad advisers will likely come back to haunt me over this project. But the primary source material is unobtainable, so I'm working with material that's questionable at best. That's the nexus of my doubt around Martin, combined with some of the things he said and wrote on a theological basis.

So when I look at these things, I try to find documentary evidence of what actually happened. I can't use a work of fiction - defined literally as something that that did not take place - as a reasonable historical source. Look at it this way...

Bella Dodd is said to have claimed that, as a high ranking member of the Communist Party of the USA, she worked with four cardinals in Rome who were also communists and inserted over 1000 communists into Catholic seminaries in the 30's and 40's. That is repeated ad infinitum on the web. But is it true? There appears to be a single source for this - Alice VonHildebrand. On the face of it, it's not much - one person's claim about another. But it's certainly a start. So I looked at Dodd's testimony before congress, which is oft-quoted as the source for this story. It's not there. Dodd does admit to getting people into high ranking areas of the US government, but doesn't talk much about the Church. So are there other sources. Manning Johnson, also a high ranking member of CPUSA, did testify about infiltrating seminaries, but his role seems to have been the Protestant seminaries and that's all he mentioned specifically. So here we have a tangent to AVH's statement that Bella Dodd infiltrated seminaries; it did happen but to the Protestants. Then you can add the Metrokhin Archive. Metrokhin was an archivist for the KGB. When he defected, be brought a bunch of hand-written notes with him. In this, he names names of cardinals and archbishops in high ranking areas of the Church - the curia included - that were members of the KGB in some respect. Add to that the Pecorelli List that implicates curial level officials with freemasonry.

All of these sources are impeachable to one degree or another. At the very least, each has it's own problems with provenance. They do not, as any individual document, render a convincing case. But taken as a whole, it can be seen as something a bit more credible. You have four independent sources all hinting at the same thing. The clincher would be a document direct from the KGB archives, or direct from the Lodge, or direct from the Vatican, but such documents will likely never be discovered.

I'm applying the same principals to Malachi Martin, but the source material is even more sketchy and unreliable.

I've made a FOIA request to get the FBI files on both Dodd and Martin. Maybe those would have something interesting. I'm sure Dodd was investigated by the FBI, but I don't know if Martin was or not. But there could be some interesting on Martin if the files exist.

Mark W said...

Thomas -

Let's be clear about one thing. I absolutely reject the ideas of the modern sedevacantists. I think you'll find that Chris misspoke, but I'll let him answer that charge. I disagree with this pope, but I don't know whether he's technically a heretic or not. I'm not qualified to make that kind of determination. Cardinal Burke didn't call him a heretic, so that's good enough for me at this point.

But while it's true that the Church herself is solid, the same cannot be said of those that work within the Church. This is true from the parish priests that have been imprisoned for abuse, all the way up to the curia, if that's where the story escalates to. The truth will come out eventually, whether today or 100 years from now.

And is criticism of a pope always wrong? Were you so dedicated to to this when the left criticized JPII and BXVI? What about Boniface VIII? He was criticized by no less than Dante! Or Benedict IX, who sold the papacy. Or any member of the Borgia or Medici families that rose in the hierarchy and to the priesthood. They were all criticized in their day. Criticism isn't a bad thing unless it's unjust.

Now, as to whether or not criticism of this pope is just, let us consider the following.

"Father, a time will come when the decisive battle between the kingdom of Christ and Satan will be over marriage and the family. And those who will work for the good of the family will experience persecution and tribulation. But do not be afraid, because Our Lady has already crushed his head." Words attributed to Sr. Lucia herself (though the letter doesn't appear to exist anymore).

Now this is being reported:

"Cardinal Juan José Omella says "As old folks we should not be afraid to embark on this new path the Pope is pointing out to us. It is a path that is leading us to new kinds of families, new family relations, and we should not be afraid to open up to this"

This is from one of the pope's primary advisers, and he's talking about "new kinds of families".

And this:

"Pope Francis breaks Catholic traditions whenever he wants because he is “free from disordered attachments.” Our Church has indeed entered a new phase: with the advent of this first Jesuit pope, it is openly ruled by an individual rather than by the authority of Scripture alone or even its own dictates of tradition plus Scripture."

This from Thomas Rosica. Note the "ruled by an individual rather than by the authority of Scripture". And the pope, "breaks Catholic traditions wherever he wants".

I don't need to be a sedevacantist, and I don't need to consider the pope to be a heretic, to see that something is certainly amiss here. I think it unjust to be considered a disloyal Catholic simply because I question such statements. These are people close to the pope. All he'd have to do is disavow them, if he's able.

JMC said...

Mark, thanks for your clarification. There's so much incomplete, or outright false, information floating around, it's hard to know what's fact and what's not.

There's a lot of stuff that I've read about Fatima in particular, purportedly by Sr. Lucia's own hand, that simply cannot be found anywhere anymore. As far as the "Third Secret," which started this particular conversation, my reason for not believing we got the whole thing is simply that I read that very description (of the vision of the "bishop in white"), in exactly the words used by the Vatican in 2000, nearly twenty years earlier in a book about Fatima. I no longer have the book, and I don't remember the name of it, but that vision was given as a direct quote. To my mind, it could hardly be a "secret" when the information had already been available for so long.
.
Translations are not always reliable, either. I've read two different translations of the journals of Sr. Lucia that were recently released, one the "official" version, and the other an earlier one by a researcher who was a native speaker of Portuguese; they differ so widely, in places it hardly seems like the same document. I tend to believe the earlier "unofficial" one, simply because it jibes more closely with what I knew about Fatima from my childhood, when my grandmother, who was a young adult at the time of the original apparitions and knew the information that had been freely disseminated before the Modernist spin-doctors got to it, taught me about them.
.
If you're interested, you may be able to get a copy of the earlier translation from Fr. Gruner's Fatima Apostolate, since their publications are where I read parts of it, so someone there may still have access to it.

As with any other information source, WE DO NOT HAVE TO CONSIDER EVERYTHING A PERSON OR ORGANIZATION CONCLUDES TO BE GOSPEL. However WE CAN TAKE PIECES TO ADD TO OUR OWN PROCESS AND CONTINUE TO LEARN.

PS the church as an organization is not a reference to the CATHOLIC CHURCH'S role as a spiritual guide per se.

Jason R. said...

I read both of those books, but I'm tending to think that Our Lady's actual words are bring withheld because of a particular date being mentioned, which seems to be fairly consistent with how other private revelations with minute details are treated. Maybe that us overly optimistic on my part, though I'd also take any information from communists or former agents of the CCCP with a grain of salt (who else would be as motivated to cast aspersions that may weaken their number one enemy on the planet, our Church, then they?).

Also, Thomas, I hope you doing quit posting here. I agree with your take on things and your arguments seem very well-thought out and balanced to me, and suspect many folks who lurk without ever posting may find them so as well... just because we aren't as vocal doesn't mean we aren't still watching and being influenced one way or smother by thus discussion, so your viewpoint is important. I keep going back to that prophecy of the Holy Father alone and distressed as folks throw rocks at his window. I always thought those tocjz would be wielded by secular humanists and atheists, but now am not so sure.

I so wish we could drop all this stuff as we've been around and around on it and I don't think anyone of us has had our position or beliefs changed at all... to be that just seems like disagreement now for it's own sake, and like I wrote above, we should maybe just agree to disagree and concentrate on being united in prayer right now. Thd world needs us, the Churcj, like never before... with the 101st anniversary of the Miracle of the Sun just yesterday I realky thought about whether Our Lady would want so much dissention in her name especially when the world is starting to come apart at the seams, both figuratively and literally... it's just my opinion, but I don't think she would, just as I dont think she'd ever say anything to undermine the authority of apostolic succession and the papacy that Our Lord established at such a critical time in human histiry. Again, that's not meant to be an invitation to start more arguing, just my own fallible opinion. I miss how this forum used to be concentrated on discussing Catholic prophecy and used to somehow avoid the dissention and sometimes even pure vitriol (especially people posting anonymously) that's so common on other Catholuc blogs, and I'm really sad those days seem to be consigned to the past. I mostly checked out when I got really furiously attacked last year if I posted anything the least big negative about Russian intentions, or, even worse, Vladimif Putin. When Putin is furiously defended while the Holy Father has criticism upon criticism heaped upon him based on accusations that have proven inaccuracies in the accusations themselves and coming from folks which histories sound show they may have personal axes to grind, well, it all just seems a little bass-ackwards to my mind... call me crazy ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

JMC said...

The problem is, we ARE still discussing prophecy here, only those prophecies are no longer far-off abstracts, but here and now and in our faces all the time, which means we all have opinions, and are all trying to cope with it in our own ways. It's that old threat = bickering response I mentioned in an earlier post, a knee-jerk reaction that isn't easy to stop, especially when every single issue under debate today is so drastically polemic, and all sides have adopted a "my way, no highway option" instead of compromising. For all our attempts not to fall into that trap, we can't help but be dragged down, to a certain degree, by the fact that that's the way of things today.
.
Occasionally, each one of us does indeed need to back off and take time to examine things prayerfully in our own hearts. When tempers start running hot, that's precisely the time to back off and cool down. Thomas seems to have reached that point. I suspect he'll be back when he feels he's able to maintain his balance again.

Mark W said...

Yeah, Jason, all of this is directly attached to prophecy, so the idea that we're actually discussing something else is inaccurate, if you ask me. I'll ask again, if we're expecting the purification of the Church before the end of time, what did you think that purification would look like? This is just as valid an option for the purification as any other - again, my opinion. And if we're expecting it to be purified, then shouldn't someone ask - purified from what? What contaminants are out there that Holy Mother Church needs to be purified of? Atheistic communism and freemasonry - as we begin to see infecting the Church in the past 100+ years - seems like a pretty good candidate. And if Russia is to be the mechanism of chastisement, and if that chastisement is figurative rather than literal, then the communist infiltration into the Church stands as a vitally important part of the times we live in.

And Thomas and anyone else that might think the conversations here get a bit heated - DO NOT STOP POSTING! This is just my opinion, but I think a little contention now and again is a VERY good thing. We all need to be keenly aware of where things stand - within the Church and in the world at large. You - Thomas or whomever you might be - could post something that I haven't seen in the past. It's important that this information be available - at least to the people here. I know Bridget and Chris have both posted things here that have worked into my research as a tangent to other stuff I've been looking at. You never know what's going to turn out to be important.

I don't believe there are any coincidences here. We're all here for a reason. None of us stumbled into this place, and surely there are more pleasant topics to discuss elsewhere. For whatever reason, we've been drawn to this particular place at this particular time. We may not agree with each other 100% of the time, but we're all in this together - like it or not.

Mark, to your insights involving "What contaminants are out there that Holy Mother Church needs to be purified of?", perhaps we can also add pride, and by this I mean a pharisaical pride.

Fair enough Mark and JMC.

I wondered about the Russian Orthodox Church breaking all ties with Constantinople today, especially with it coming ond day after the anniversary of the Miracle of the Sun... am I reading too much into this? I thought maybe the consecration of Russia may be less diplomatically charged if it were to be done now with this schism from the rest of the Orthodox world?

I saw this on the BBC and thought you should see it:

This story has a little more detail, including that Constantinople's warming ties with the Church were also a factor... I wonder if this could be the beginnings of the healing of the West-East schism (Russisn Orthodox excluded)?

A couple of more articles contemplating implications... could a fight over property be the trigger Putin has been waiting for to escalate the invasion of Ukraine? Again, the precise timing of this just after the 101st Anniversary seems highly coincidental to me.

Hi Jason,

Have a read of the following interpretation from the Saker (a devout Orthodox Christian) of what is happening to the Orthodox Church in the Ukraine vis-à-vis its relationship with Constantinople and Moscow. There might be more going on than meets the eye. It certainly does nothing to promote Christian unity.
