Pope Francis - The Bishop of Fatima and the "Glory of the Olive"?
A few commentators on this blog have made some intriguing insights concerning our new Holy Father, Pope Francis, which I thought that other readers might be interested in. In the previous post, Joe Russo has highlighted what I consider to be a very important point:
Something just struck me while reading a post about our Holy Father.
It was Father Z's blog and I stopped reading right away when this struck me. He was talking about his audience with the Cardinals and how he again was just wearing his white cassock...and then mentioned how he hopes in the future he will choose to wear more decorum...and then the thought jolted me!
"We saw a Bishop dressed in white...."
The 3rd secret of Fatima!!!!
Why would that be of any significance in the vision, for yes Popes at times are seen in just there cassock but he wears it like this all the time!
An anonymous commentator also passed on the below information on the post The Prophecy of Bl. Tomasuccio de Foligno (which covers how the Angelic Pope was predicted to ascend the papacy by "about twelve years shall the millennium have passed"):
Prophecy of Blessed Tomasuccio of Foligno, 1319-1377): "One from beyond the mountains shall become the Vicar Of God..."
Pope Francis: Jorge Mario Bergoglio - Born on December 17, 1936, of a father employed by the railroad and a stay-at-home mother, this son of Italian immigrants from Piedmont. The name Piedmont comes from medieval Latin Pedemontium or Pedemontis, i.e., ad pedem montium, meaning “at the foot of the mountains".
In reply, I researched the etymology of the surname Bergoglio, and came up with the following results:
Excellent point anon!
Also "berg" means "mountain" in several languages. As well as being the name of a river in Lombardy, "oglio" can also mean "hotchpotch" "mixture" or "medley".http://www.thefreedictionary.com/Oglio
So rather roughly, Bergoglio can mean "mountain range". The word "oglio" is also the direct equivalent of "olio" which is derived from the Latin oleum - which means "olive oil".
http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/olio#Italian
So it can also mean the "mountain of olive oil", which of course immediately brings to mind the Mount of Olives.
We can do some additional wordplay with the surname Bergoglio. The Italian word "orgoglio" means "pride". So we can also see here an allusion to the "pride of the olives", or as St. Malachy puts it the "glory of the olive". This would help to verify my newly revised theory that Pope Benedict XVI was not actually the "glory of the olive" himself, but rather is the one who opened the doors of the Temple to reveal the "glory of the olive" - a term which is directly related to the two olive trees that stand before the Lord of all the earth in Rev 11:
"These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands that stand before the Lord of the earth."
(Rev 11:4)
“Behold, I have set before you an open door, which no one is able to shut."
(Rev 3:8)
Then God's temple in heaven was opened, and the ark of his covenant was seen within his temple. There were flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder, an earthquake, and heavy hail.
(Rev 11:19)
Cf. Ezek 47
This is marvelous. Your blog gets better and better. we are really on the same page with all of this. It all makes sense, although I would still see Benedict XVI as the "Glory of the Olive" because he did, as you say, open the gate to the Two Olive Trees, the Two Witnesses, who in the Vulgate are called the two "sons of oil."
ReplyDelete"And he said: These are two sons of oil who stand before the Lord of the whole earth." Zechariah 4:14
It struck me also that Pope Francis referred to himself as the Bishop of Rome, using the title "Bishop' instead of "Pope".
ReplyDeleteI tentatively assert that the 112th prophecy of St. Malachy regarding Petrus Romanus is more sublime in its meanings. We know that Peter means rock, and that Christ confirmed Simon Peter's revelation from the Father that Jesus was the Christ. The point being that the true faith of Christianity is through words and deeds, for the laity and clergy. Francis I from my perspective has the qualities that tradition establishes as being in the will of the Father. Furthermore, the 112th prophecy distinctly states that Petrus Romanus will "feed the sheep" in the times of tribulation. We also know that three times Christ asked Simon Peter if he loved Him, telling Simon Peter to feed His sheep, referring to the faithful. This leadership of the faithful is crucial to the building of the Kingdom on earth, not to mention in times of tribulation. Let us pray the Our Father for this man of God, and for those who do and do not have knowledge of Christ in these times.
ReplyDeleteHere's another article, this time from a Protestant about our new Pope.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.christianitytoday.com/ct/2013/april/pope-for-all-christians.html
I think the 2nd Pentecost is close indeed! Little do our Protestant friends know, that once they find common ground and friendship with the Catholic Church Jesus and Mary will pull them in quickly, because the full Truth just cannot be denied.
Emmett,
ReplyDeleteThe Pope has relatives in a village near Asti.

This page about Italian surnames
http://www.cognomiitaliani.org/cognomi/cognomi0002er.htm
puts forward the possibility that it derives from a place (now gone) called Bergolio in the Piedmont region. It quotes a letter of 1496 to the Duke of Milan seeking assistance in protecting Bergolio from flooding from the river Tanaro, so it was in the same region as Asti, but miles from the river Oglio that Sr. Lorraine referred to. I think it is very much a localised surname, indicating that his family had not moved far for centuries before his father emigrated to Argentina.
If his forebears did come from Bergolio, then you have got rid of that troublesome extra "g" and you are left with a neater solution.
With reference to other surnames on the page starting with Berg, the connection is made to the
Germanic word for mountains.
When the announcement was finally made from the balcony on Wednesday, my daughter yelled out because I was in the kitchen trying to get the supper done. I ran into the front room clutching a bottle of olive oil. Deeply significant, but I'm not sure how you can weave that one into your next post..
These are all very good points.
ReplyDeleteSomething just occurred to me about the importance of St. Joseph in connection with Fatima. I saw something that connected the woman of Rev. 12 with Israel because, the writer said, it harkened back to Joseph's dream in Genesis, with its mention of the sun, moon, and stars:
Then he had another dream, and he told it to his brothers. “Listen,” he said, “I had another dream, and this time the sun and moon and eleven stars were bowing down to me.” (Gen 37:9).
There's a lot in the Joseph story and the incident of the silver cup hidden in the bag seems relevant. One commentary said Joseph revealing his identity to his brothers could be like Jesus revealing himself to his Jewish brethren. Maybe that relates to the conversion of the Jews at the end times?
Sr Lucia said:
The fifth apparition, September 13, 1917
(Lady) "Continue to pray the Rosary in order to obtain the end of the war. In October Our Lord will come, as well as our Lady of Dolours and Our Lady of Carmel, Saint Joseph will appear with the Child Jesus to bless the world."
And at the miracle of the Sun:
"After Our Lady had disappeared into the immense distance of the firmament, we beheld St. Joseph with the Child Jesus and Our Lady robed in white with a blue mantle, beside the sun. St. Joseph and the Child Jesus appeared to bless the world, for they traced the Sign of the Cross with their hands. When, a little later, this apparition disappeared, I saw Our Lord and Our Lady; it seemed to me that it was Our Lady of Dolours. Our Lord appeared to bless the world in the same manner as St. Joseph had done. This apparition also vanished, and I saw Our Lady once more, this time resembling Our Lady of Carmel."
So St Joseph is quite important to the whole Fatima message, although he is somewhat hidden, as he usually is.
And Pope Benedict's baptismal name, of course, is Joseph.
And Pope Francis will be installed on the feast of St. Joseph.
Besides the Italian connection of the pope's name, I wonder if Argentina has anything to do with it (argent--silver in Latin.)
And maybe this is just me, but when I was watching Pope Francis on TV as he gave his first blessing to the world, I somehow could almost feel it, like there was a particular surge of spiritual power going out over the whole world. I usually don't feel things like that. Maybe like St Joseph blessing the world at Fatima.
ReplyDeleteSister Lorraine, I was starting my rosary two nights ago and thought of our new Pope and something in my heart burned. It was quite startling. I truly love my Papa Benedict, but this Pope...this Pope I think is going to be like none we have ever known.
ReplyDeleteMy first thought when I heard our Pope's name was of St Francis taming the wolf at Gubbio. Our Benedict asked us to pray for him lest he flee for fear of the wolves and now we have a Papa who can tame them.
Love the book and this blog but didn't start reading the comments until last week. Oh what I have missed! Happy St Patricks day to you all...Jill
I think Our Popes Francis and Benedict XVI are the two withness of the Revelation´s book, dressed of ¨sayal¨ calling to conversion.
ReplyDeleteMuv, I awoke this morning on the same trail as yourself. Bergoglio means "Mount of Olives." And Sister Lorraine, I agree with you about the connection with St. Joseph. On my blog today, I have a post about the connections with the new Pope and Fatima. http://teaattrianon.blogspot.com/2013/03/pope-francis-and-fatima.html
ReplyDeleteOur new Pope is a sum and total of the great Religious orders whose Rules of Life have long given prophetic witness to the Church and the World. He is a Jesuit who comes to us in the habit of the Dominicans, who use the Augustinian rule. He bears the name Francis and is proceeded by the great silence of the Carmelites. (Remember the silence which enveloped St. Peter's square when he first asked for prayers on the balcony....)
"And when it opened the seventh seal, there was silence in the heaven about half an hour."(Apoc. 8:1)
"And after the earthquake a fire: the Lord is not in the fire, and after the fire a whistling of a gentle air. [13] And when Elias heard it, he covered his face with his mantle, and coming forth stood in the entering in of the cave, and behold a voice unto him, saying: What dost thou here, Elias?" (1 Kings 19:12-13)
In the St. Malachy prophecy, according to Father Thibaut, "Petrus Romanus" represents the sum and total of all the Popes, as I have written before. I do think that Pope Benedict is the "Glory of the Olive" for he has opened the door to the Two Witnesses. Benedict himself is not one of the Witnesses though. The other Witness will be a great Catholic lay-leader, who is Prophecy has been labeled the Great Monarch. We must wait and see how things unfold.
But the more I think about it, Sister, you could be right about Pope Benedict being the other Witness, especially when Emmett has said that the Witnesses are going to be like Peter and Paul.
ReplyDeleteAs many readers will be aware Fr Nicholas Gruner doesn't believe the consecration of Russia has been correctly done. Fr Gruner had correspondence with then Cardinal Begolgio and although he doesn't reveal precise details (I presume out of respect to Pope Francis opposed to having nothing of genuine substance) he seems to believe the Pope will do the consecration and if so surely will be the catalyst for the second pentecost and the conversion of Russia to the Catholic Church. Fr Gruner details conversation with a stigmatist he had in 1990 - he asked the stigmatist if JPII would do the consecration, the answer was no, and neither the successor but he who would come after.

Our new Pope is fearless!
ReplyDeleteHe's not only grabbed the world stage like all Popes do especially at the beginning, but the world is very intrigued, interested, and even baffled by his personality. They can't help but be around him.
He slips out, not to get away, but to be amongst the people in the streets. He is in love with his people and wants everyone to know the Father.
He goes against the advice i'm sure of his closest advisers (Apostles)
and is basicly saying let the people (crowds) come to me.
This man is truly like Christ. He only cares about the salvation of mankind and cares nothing about his own well being. Our Pope, judging by what we've seen so far, is far from scratching the surface on what he'll do. The "world" will reject him, but he looks to be the one sent by God to heal the Schism, and even bring home the Protestants in droves.
Oh yeah and here's a link about what i'm talking about
http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/E/EU_VATICAN_POPE?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2013-03-16-07-19-05
Chet - thanks for pointing out the link between Petrus Romanus and John 21 (which foretells the martyrdom of St. Peter)!
ReplyDeleteThanks Elena! Yes I agree that Benedict XVI is still the "Glory of the Olive", and as you say, he is probably given this title because he has opened the gate to the Two Olive Trees that stand before the Lord of all the earth.
The thought had occurred to me that Benedict XVI could be one of the Two Witnesses himself, given our current unprecedented situation. But I still believe that the other witness will be the Great Monarch, who according to various prophecies, will be anointed by the Angelic Pope.
Firstly, the Great Monarch is also prophesied to help restore the Church at the end-time. Then we have the various prophecies which foretell that the Great Monarch will lay down his crown on the Mount of Olives (symbolising either an abdication or martyrdom) before the coming of the Antichrist:
"Some of our learned men say that one of the Kings of the Franks will possess anew the Roman Empire. He will be in the last time and will be the greatest and the last of all kings. After he has successfully governed his empire, he will finally come to Jerusalem and will lay aside his sceptre and crown on the Mount of Olives. This will be the end and the consummation of the Roman and Christian Empire."
(Br. Adso, circa 10th century)
This again recalls the location of the deaths of the Two Witnesses:
"And when they have finished their testimony, the beast that rises from the bottomless pit will make war on them and conquer them and kill them, and their dead bodies will lie in the street of the great city that symbolically is called Sodom and Egypt, WHERE THEIR LORD WAS CRUCIFIED. For three and a half days some from the peoples and tribes and languages and nations will gaze at their dead bodies and refuse to let them be placed in a tomb, and those who dwell on the earth will rejoice over them and make merry and exchange presents, because these two prophets had been a torment to those who dwell on the earth."
(Rev 11:7-10)
Also, I'm working on a post now at the minute (one of several actually - its hard to keep up with the pace of things here!), will detail how the Two Witnesses are directly modelled on Joshua the High Priest and Zerubbabel - the rightful heir to the Davidic throne, described in the Book of Zechariah. So the "high priest" would equated with our very own "high priest" - the Holy Father, while the rightful heir to the "Davidic Throne" would be equate with the Great Monarch - the rightful heir to the Holy Roman Empire.
Sr. Lorraine, good point about the appearance of Our Lady of Sorrows and the Christ Child with St. Joseph at Fatima! I think this also ties in with the "Finding in the Temple" analogy - since Jesus being lost is one of the seven sorrows of Mary, while it was Mary and Joseph who found the Christ Child in the Temple.
Thank you, Emmett, it is good to know what you think about all of this. I totally agree!
ReplyDeleteThe status of Fr. Nicholas Gruner is murky. EWTN reported that he is not a priest in good standing, as did an article in the Wanderer. Wikipedia has reported that he has since been accepted as an incardinated priest in Hyperbad, but there is no documentation of that. I would caution anyone on following him, for many reasons.

"Also "berg" means "mountain" in several languages. As well as being the name of a river in Lombardy, "oglio" can also mean "hotchpotch" "mixture" or "medley"."
ReplyDeleteAnd also, Bergoglio begins with the letter 'B' and includes two times the letter 'G', and we all know how the letter B figures so strongly in prophecy. It's worthy if meditation.
Emmett- I have struggled with the 112th prophecy of St. Malachy in the context of it being applicable to our present time. There are alarming implications if this is so, but the overall understanding I have through my work with the Holy Spirit is in the faithful being informed rather than unprepared. There are some weighty scriptures as we know that must be fulfilled whether or not our time on earth coincides with this. In the eventuality of all-out tribulation for humanity, we as Christians have been thoroughly forewarned through the gospels about its significance. For me this paints a picture of what to expect and how to react, as I shy away from prognosticating the future outright. Of course there is much to be said, but what I find of inherent value is the notion that Christ said these things must happen but the end will not yet come, and the mystery of the Son of Man's return in power and glory is definitive in its true revelation to the world. That being said, we can piece together for ourselves the adversarie's activity in the world in expectation of Christ's true return. If we consider the destruction of Rome(7 hilled city) in the 112th prophecy and in my perspective the enigmatic line, "The end." we begin to translate into our present time frame a world torn by most likely nuclear war and natural disasters referred to as never before witnessed in human history. With the bishop of Rome martyred potentially, the perspective for the faithful is in not being deceived by the coming antichrist that will claim divinity, and in the sheer desperation of humanities confusion, fear and suffering lead astray those who would be lead astray. We can then factor in the rapture, or 'taking up' of the faithful remaining on earth before God's wrath is inflicted on the world. This is all going to be a test of faith for us, as He will judge the living and the dead.
ReplyDeleteWouldn't it be something if Pope Emeritus Benedict and Pope Francis decide to make a joint trip to Jerusalem!
ReplyDeleteHello Mary-Louise,
ReplyDeleteThe status of Fr. Gruner isn't murky at all. If you read "False Friends of Fatima" by Christopher Ferrara the position is all explained there in Chapter 5. The book is too interesting not to read, especially in the context of
Pope Benedict's resignation. Oddly enough, a friend lent me her copy on February 11th, before we had heard the news.
Jamey,
ReplyDeleteThank you for the link to the Youtube video of the discussion with Fr. Gruner. I've just watched a minute or two and will watch the whole thing later this evening.
Watching Our Holy Father at his Inaugural Mass this morning, dressed in his white vestments, all I could think of was the Third Secret of Fatima:
ReplyDelete"And we saw in an immense light that is God: ‘something similar to how people appear in a mirror when they pass in front of it' a Bishop dressed in White ‘we had the impression that it was the Holy Father'." ~Sr. Lucia, from the third part of the Secret of Fatima
"The status of Fr. Gruner isn't murky at all. If you read "False Friends of Fatima" by Christopher Ferrara the position is all explained there in Chapter 5. The book is too interesting not to read, especially in the context of Pope Benedict's resignation."
ReplyDeleteHow long have the wolves been in the church - consider John Paul II when talking about the attempted consecration in 1984 where he didn't specifically mention Russia but said he did the best he could given the circumstances. Too much corrupt clergy and officials combined with hesitant and uncertain pontificates has almost wiped out the faith. Any pope acting in goodwill will have to restructure the church and have it so that only orthodox men with courage are in positions of power. He needs to trust the men who answer to and provide information to him.
Given his acceptance of his own personal suffering and holiness in not broadcasting it who knows what B16 went through. If only he were younger it would have been a lot easier to rule the church with a heavier hand but as he got older it naturally got harder and out of control. I feel pain that Benedict had to abdicate.
I feel sadder that many Catholic people/websites and the world at large seem happy that he is gone (not referring to anyone here). One time I even brought a book called Threshold of Hope put together by JPII and the guy posting on ebay said he liked JPII but not so much B16 and have had others express similar sentiments - with the church largely abandoning scholasticism and the general dumbing down of thinking in society many Catholics and society at large seem only satisfied with personality cultus, charm and charisma opposed to clear thinking and looking at objective facts. The more I look at it the post 1965 church is a new one that barely resembles what she once was.
It bothers me that some people are complaining that the papacy of Benedict XVI wasn't razzmatazz enough for them. Being pope isn't about pandering to showbiz. I think we were very lucky to have him at the helm, to help provide continuity and steer the barque of St. Peter in the right direction. He was the right man for the right time, and I believe the same goes for Pope Francis.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree. Lightning strike on the Vatican. Its all coincidental and it is said in Israel it is believed there are no coincidences. Einstein believed this principle of design as well as Newton of order and laws.
ReplyDeleteTwo witnesses. Now we must observe and react. WW2 fit Revelation and Daniel closely also Ezekiel. Like the flood the day of the Lord was on Calvary and may not have stopped.
But what does this all mean? Revelation seems to be proceeding as foretold but slowly.
So, Pope Francis Glory of the Olives? Perhaps, that would make Benedict an anti pope. I expect that must be true. God was not in him.
ReplyDeleteIndeed Pope Benedict XV1 is an imposter. He is not the glory of Olive. He is the end of the Catholic popes. The colors are GREEN, White and Blue. These are the colors of Sierra Leone the Lions Mountain and also the Ivory Coast in Africa, which represents the two sons of the olive oil
ReplyDeleteI have not heard anyone mention the messages of www.locutions.org. I find them fascinating. Mary is telling us that the consecration of Russia has NOT taken place. Makes sense: Russia is not acting as if she's consecrated. But she will be consecrated in 2016 or 2017. Watch for Oct. 13, 2017.
ReplyDelete
