The Great Monarch, the "Warning" and the Duration of the Period of Peace

Mark Mallett and Daniel O'Connor have recently issued a couple of videos on the Countdown to the Kingdom website attempting to address some of my criticisms of their promotion of Fr. Iannuzzi's ideas concerning a millenarian "era of peace". While I don't hold any personal animosity towards either Mark or Daniel, the version of eschatology they are espousing is leading their regrettably sizable audience into a grave and dangerous millenarian error. Both Mallett and O'Connor reject Church Tradition concerning St. Augustine's amillennial interpretation of the Apocalypse in favour of a millennial "era of peace", which is foretold in a number of contemporary unapproved "private revelations", some of which have been rejected by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (such as those of Edson Glauber).

Even though St. Augustine's amillennialism has never been formally defined dogmatically, after his position concerning the Millennium of Rev 20 was first forwarded in the 5th century, it was universally accepted by the Tradition of the Church and has been ever since, which fulfils the criteria to identify it as a definitive teaching of the ordinary and universal Magisterium.  Mallett and O'Connor also ignore the prophecies of the Great Catholic Monarch and Angelic Pope in Catholic Tradition, made by numerous saints and blesseds, as well as apparitions which have full ecclesiastical approval, such as those of Our Lady of La Salette. The Great Monarch and Angelic Pope are foretold to restore the Church immediately before the coming of the Antichrist and the final Passover of the Church, as part of a ministry which echoes that of the Two Witnesses.

According to Mallett and O'Connor's view, the "era of peace" will only arrive after the Antichrist, and will last for a prolonged millennial epoch which will persist until the arrival of Gog and Magog at the end of a future thousand year binding of Satan, which they equate with a "final antichrist". As you can see from around the 45 minute mark on the below video, Mark Mallett repeatedly stumbles around the concept of the Great Monarch, before stating that he would not object to these prophecies if this figure arrives after the downfall of the Antichrist during the mooted invisible "Middle Coming" of Jesus to reign on earth in the Eucharist. Instead of attempting engage in a respectful academic dialogue, Daniel O'Connor also advises his audience to ignore my writings - without mentioning my name, lest he inadvertently alerts his audience to my research.

When we look to the doctors of the Church who have written about this subject, they concur that the Antichrist will only arrive at the very end of the world, immediately before the Second Coming of Christ:

Whereby He shows, that when Antichrist has come, the pursuit of unlawful pleasures shall be more eager among the transgressors, and those that have learned to despair of their own salvation. Then shall be gluttony, then revellings, and drunkenness. Wherefore also most of all He puts forth an example corresponding to the thing. For like as when the ark was making, they believed not, says He; but while it was set in the midst of them, proclaiming beforehand the evils that are to come, they, when they saw it, lived in pleasure, just as though nothing dreadful were about to take place; so also now, Antichrist indeed shall appear, after whom is the end, and the punishments at the end, and vengeance intolerable...(St. John Chrystom, Homily on Matthew, Chap 77)

But he who reads this passage, even half asleep, cannot fail to see that the kingdom of Antichrist shall fiercely, though for a short time, assail the Church before the last judgment of God shall introduce the eternal reign of the saints". (St. Augustine of Hippo, City of God XX:23)

For the Lord clearly teaches that after the persecution of Antichrist the last judgement will immediately follow [Matt 24]. Then all the good are going to eternal life, while all the wicked into the eternal fire, hence there is not going to be another thousand years, nor any battle.
(St. Robert Bellarmine De Controversiis Book 3 Chap XVII)

We can thus see why Mallett and O'Connor have chosen to ignore the figure of the Great Monarch, since in Catholic Tradition this figure is equated with the biblical katechon - the restraining force holding back the appearance of the Antichrist mentioned by St. Paul:

Let no one deceive you in any way. For that day will not come, unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, who opposes and exalts himself against every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God. Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you these things? And you know what is restraining him now so that he may be revealed in his time. For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work. Only he who now restrains it will do so until he is out of the way. And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will kill with the breath of his mouth and bring to nothing by the appearance of his coming. (2Thes 2:3-8)

One of the oldest prophecies of the Great Monarch is found in the Apocalypse of Methodius, which also foretells the appearance of the sign of the cross before the Last Judgement. Ironically, this prophecy is also related to the central subject matter of Christine Watkins' book The Warning: Testimonies and Prophecies of the Illumination of Consciences, which has recently popularised Mallett and O'Connor's writings due to her endorsement of the Countdown to the Kingdom website:

…the Cross on which our Lord Jesus Christ hung for the common salvation of all will begin to appear before him at his coming to convict the lack of faith of unbelievers… When the Cross has been lifted up on high to heaven, the king of the Romans will directly give up his spirit. Then every principality and power will be destroyed that the Son of Perdition may be manifest.

According to Church Tradition, the Great Monarch will bring about the restoration the Church after a period of desolation, which I argue in my book Unveiling the Apocalypse: The Final Passover of the Church, is related to the current apostasy we are experiencing due to the period of the unbinding of Satan at the end of the "thousand years". After the Great Monarch brings about the renovation of the Church, the prophetic tradition tells us that he will lay down his crown on the Mount of Olives just immediately before the appearance of the Antichrist:

Some of our teachers say that a King of the Franks will possess the entire Roman Empire. He will be the greatest and last of all Monarchs. After having wisely governed his kingdom, he will go into Jerusalem and will lay his sceptre and his crown upon the Mount of Olives. Immediately afterwards, Antichrist will come.                                               (Adso of Montier-en-Der, De ortu et tempore Antichristi)

The only Church approved private revelation to give some indication of the duration of the period of peace is Melanie's 1849 version of the Secret of La Salette, which explicitly states that this period of renewal will not last long before the appearance of the Antichrist, and similarly connects the period of the restoration of the Church with the reign of the Great Monarch:

A great king will go up on the throne, and will reign many years. Religion will re-flourish and spread all over the world, and there will be a great abundance. The world, glad to be lacking nothing, will fall again into disorder, will give up God, and will return to its criminal passions. (Our Lady to Melanie Calvat)

The Church doctor St. Bonaventure also associates the renovation of the Church with the reign of the Great Monarch, and indicates that the restoration brought about by this figure will not last long before the arrival of the sudden destruction after the time of peace forewarned by St. Paul:

"no one knows how long that time of great peace will last since "when they said 'Peace and security,' then suddenly destruction came upon them" (Matt 24:21). The seventh time or age, that of quiet, begins with the shout of the angel who "swore through Him who lives forever and ever that there would be no more time; but in the days of the seventh angel the mystery of God will be completed" (Rev 10:6-7).
In the sixth age three things take place - excellence of victory, excellence of teaching, and excellence of the prophetic life.... In this age there ought to come a life through an order which will possess the prophetic life. This age is double. Just as in the Lord's Passion there was first light, then darkness, and then light, so it is necessary that first there be the light of teaching and that Josiah succeed Hezekiah, after which came the tribulation of the Jews through their captivity. It is necessary that one ruler, a defender of the Church, arise. He is either still to come or has already come. (He added: Would that he has not already come!) After him will come the darkness of tribulations..."

It was said to the angel of Philadelphia, the sixth angel: "He who is holy and true, who has the key of David, who opens and no man closes, closes and no man opens, says this - 'I know your works, and behold I have placed an open door before you'" (Rev 3:7). (And he said that now for the first time the understanding of Scripture would be given and that the revelation, or key of David, would be given to a person or a large group, but I think rather to a large group.)
In the seventh age we know that these things will take place - the rebuilding of the Temple, the restoration of the city, and the granting of peace. Likewise in the coming seventh age there will be a restoration of Divine worship and a rebuilding of the city. Then the prophecy of Ezekiel will be fulfilled when the city comes down from heaven (Ezek 40); not indeed that city which is above, but that city which is below, the Church Militant which will then be conformed to the Church Triumphant as far as possible in this life. Then will be the building and restoration of the city as it was in the beginning. Then there will be peace. God alone knows how long that peace shall last.
(St. Bonaventure, Collation 16:17-19. Translated by McGinn, B. Visions of the End, pp199-200)

These numerous authentic prophecies concerning the restoration of the Church before the arrival of the Antichrist are closely associated with the ministry of the Two Witnesses, which is chiefly concerned with the bringing in of the fullness of the Gentiles and the conversion of the Jews before the Second Coming of Christ. Both scripture and the magisterium of the Church clearly teach that the conversion of the Jews will only take place immediately before the Parousia of Christ at the very end of the world.
St. Augustine explains how the ministry of Elijah is intimately connected to the conversion of the Jews foretold by the Prophet Malachi:

After admonishing them to give heed to the law of Moses, as he foresaw that for a long time to come they would not understand it spiritually and rightly, he went on to say, And, behold, I will send to you Elias the Tishbite before the great and signal day of the Lord come: and he shall turn the heart of the father to the son, and the heart of a man to his next of kin, lest I come and utterly smite the earth. Malachi 4:5-6 It is a familiar theme in the conversation and heart of the faithful, that in the last days before the judgment the Jews shall believe in the true Christ, that is, our Christ, by means of this great and admirable prophet Elias who shall expound the law to them.
(St. Augustine of Hippo, City of God, XX:29)

Basing itself on chapter 11 of St. Paul's Letter to the Romans, the Catechism also explains that the Second Coming of Christ will take place immediately after the conversion of the Jews, which leaves absolutely no scope for an intervening millennial "era of peace" after this event:

The glorious Messiah's coming is suspended at every moment of history until his recognition by "all Israel", for "a hardening has come upon part of Israel" in their "unbelief" toward Jesus. St. Peter says to the Jews of Jerusalem after Pentecost: "Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that he may send the Christ appointed for you, Jesus, whom heaven must receive until the time for establishing all that God spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets from of old." St. Paul echoes him: "For if their rejection means the reconciliation of the world, what will their acceptance mean but life from the dead?" The "full inclusion" of the Jews in the Messiah's salvation, in the wake of "the full number of the Gentiles", will enable the People of God to achieve "the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ", in which "God may be all in all". (Catechism of the Catholic Church, para 674)

The Early Church Fathers had connected the conversion of the Jews promised in Rom 11 with the prophecy of Zech 12 and the appearance of the Sign of the Cross, which was later connected to the prophecies of the Great Monarch already mentioned above:

Then shall appear the sign of the Son of Man in Heaven; Matthew 24:30 that is, the cross being brighter than the sun, since this last will be darkened, and hide himself, and that will appear when it would not appear, unless it were far brighter than the beams of the sun. But wherefore does the sign appear? In order that the shamelessness of the Jews may be more abundantly silenced. For having the cross as the greatest plea, Christ thus comes to that judgment-seat, showing not His wounds only, but also the death of reproach. Then shall the tribes mourn, for there shall be no need of an accusation, when they see the cross; and they shall mourn, that by His death they are nothing benefited; because they crucified Him whom they ought to have adored.

Do you see how fearfully He has pictured His coming? How He has stirred up the spirits of His disciples? For this reason, let me add, He puts the mournful things first, and then the good things, that in this way also He may comfort and refresh them. And of His passion He suggests to them the remembrance, and of His resurrection, and with a display of glory, He mentions His cross, so that they may not be ashamed nor grieve, whereas indeed He comes then setting it forth for His sign. And another says, They shall look on Him whom they pierced. Therefore it is that they shall mourn, when they see that this is He.                      (St. John Chrysostom, Homily on Matthew, Chap 76)

It is thus fully apparent why Mallett and O'Connor wish to avoid discussing the prophecies of the Great Catholic Monarch and the conversion of the Jews, since they clearly establish that the period of the renewal of the Church takes place immediately before the time of the Antichrist, not after, during a millenarian "era of peace". The timeline presented by the authors of Countdown to the Kingdom is deeply flawed, and is effectively priming Catholics to reject the idea that the Church could be restored by the figures of the Great Monarch and Angelic Pope before the arrival of the Antichrist, as has been held from the earliest traditions of the Church, in accordance with the plain sense of Scripture. According to this timeline, the Great Monarch and Angelic Pope who bring about the restoration of the Church will potentially be rejected by the followers of Countdown to the Kingdom as the Beast and False Prophet of Rev 13, all in order to support the idea of a millenarian "era of peace" being espoused by alleged "seers" who are either unapproved or condemned by the Church. Therein lies the inherent dangers of rejecting the long standing Tradition of the Church concerning the Millennium and the restoration of the Church in favour of the millenarian prophecies of contemporary soothsayers.

  1. Great article Emmett. It is very important to have clarity and understanding in these strange times that we live in. There have been so many false seers and prophecies over the last few years. We had Locutions to the World and then the false prophecies of Charley Johnston a few years ago now we have The Countdown to the Kingdom. The Devil always tries through false prophecies to sow fear, division and confusion. You are right to highlight the errors and the inherent dangers in some of the Timeline of prophetic events being put forward by Countdown to the Kingdom. They contradict well established and accepted Catholic prophecy.

    God bless

  2. Thanks Anthony! I really hope the newfound popularity of Countdown to the Kingdom will force the competent ecclesiastical authorities to intervene. I find it bizarre that so many high profile clerics are endorsing their website.

  3. Great post, Emmett. Really timely. Really excellent.

To be fair to Mark Mallett, he seems to have a relatively positive view of Pope Francis. He's not a 'Francis basher', I mean. But what these North American 'grifter' sites - I'm thinking especially of 1P5 - all seem to have in common is a hostile attitude to either the Papacy or the Church's teaching magisterium in one aspect or another, or sometimes both. All camouflaged behind a veneer of traditionalism and orthodoxy, of course.

So what's going on here. It's been mentioned by myself and others on this blog before, but I think it goes back to the Cold War and the strong links that necessarily developed between the US 'deep state' and the Church in the war against communism. The Church could be seen as an ally to capitalism in those days and it was a very useful ally indeed in the downfall of the Soviet Empire.

That era's long gone though and what we've got now, I think, is the Church as an obstacle to the unlimited growth and expansion of the free market. There are many such obstacles at the moment - a stable concept of gender is another one, a deep sense of national history and tradition is again another. And there are more. People need to be made as rootless and restless as possibile. Then their disorientated, displaced condition can be marketed to.

If you could bring down a Pope or fatally torpedo the Church's teaching then you'd go a long way towards undermining a venerable institution which, among other things, claims people's loyalty at the deepest level of all. It gets in the way and acts as a break on consumption. No good. Get rid.

We see this destabilising phenomenon as much (probably more) on the 'left' as on the 'right.' I'm thinking particularly here of the very high profile role played by Fr. James Martin. But within the ranks of faithful believing Catholics, individuals like Mallett, Steve Skojec and Taylor Marsahll are in their different ways having a cumulatively devastating effect. It's almost like Mallett's been given the 'Catholic Prophecy Department' of this great unraveling project.

I've no idea how much or little these fellows are conscious of what they're doing. I accused Steve Skojec directly in a series of tweets last year and he denied the existence of any 'black ops' as he put it. But I remaIn unconvinced. Maybe there's someone higher up - some 'éminence grise' - pulling the strings, or maybe - most probably, in fact - it's demonically driven on some level. CS Lewis's novel 'That Hideous Strength' (1945) is brilliant on this and shows exactly how individuals and groups can become co-opted and manipulated by demonic intelligences.

So yes, bring on the Great Monarch. I have, in recent times, come most certainly to regard myself as the chief of sinners, but I've always had an intuition - ever since I was 10 years old ((1981) when I first encountered the prophecy - that I'll recognise the Great Monarch when he comes and serve him faithfully in whatever way God wants me too.

Let's hope he comes quickly to be honest, let's hope that I do indeed recognise him, let's hope that we all do, and in the meantime let's hope that we don't all get ensnared by the confusions and perversions of prophecy abounding in this time.

Thanks again Emmett and all the best in all aspects of your life,

    John.

  4. Prof. Coulumbe's opinion re the Great Monarch is he can take it or leave it. That the Fatima prophecy i.e 'era of peace' has more bearing in belief than GM. But he also believes that prophecy in general can only be perceived properly in hindsight.

  5. "Prophecy in general can only be properly perceived in hindsight." Which is probably precisely why the Church has made no formal pronouncement on eschatology. As Emmett himself has said, anything out there now, including his own work, is nothing but conjecture.

  6. one would have to question then why prophecy is displayed to the laity at all. I suppose frightening us has its benefits but giving details makes us speculative.

  8. I have a lot to say on this matter but I wont put it all here.
Its not coherent either because I'll be jumping about picking and commenting on unrelated points...

But firstly, I'd like to say 'Hello!' to John Fitzgerald, whos blog/sites/writings I stumbled across many moons ago. I understand we are close neighbours John! (Timperley mean anything to you?)

It is my belief that the Monarch/Pope prefigure the 2nd coming - each represents an aspect of the Christ - Priest and King. They are separate, distinct individuals as these offices can only be joined in one person....
Similarily their 'victory' in governance and faith is only a 'little' victory which prefigures Christs final, total victory.

In a similar vein as the 'conversion of the Jews' can only occur under Christ, something prefiguring it must happen in advance. Could one could posit - in purely political terms - the radical notion that both Israel and Palestine entering the EU (under Marys crown) would prefigure this? I think thats whats being talked about here.

The 'King of the Franks possessing the Roman Emperor' is just a reference to an EU leader.
Jerusalem refers to England/UK .... the mount of olives is the reference I'm unsure of. Any suggestions?

I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest that by some contortion, England - or at least some part of the UK - must remain in the EU in order for this to occur.

    regards to all

  9. Hey Emmett! Great post!

So if those who are following this timeline are risking falsely identifying the Two Witnesses as the Beast and False Prophet, does this help explain why in Revelation there is celebrating and cheering when the Two Witnesses are killed?

    Thanks!!

  10. It is not the millerinarian heresy because Jesus is not reigning in the flesh. The New World Order will have to go underground and then arise much later for them to be wrong. Then why do they want to vaccinate everyone with AI and tracking chips? Why do the people inthe apocalypse not repent? Why is getting the mark an unforgivable sin? Could it be that when you get the mark you are incapable of repenting due to chips controlling part of your brain, ala nuerolink?

The king rebuild the world after the 3 days of darkness. Putting aside the amillenial hypothesis, the apocalypse reads as though the mark of the beast takes play before the age of piece. And after the age of peace their is the war against the camp of the saints, followed by the end of the word. That is the order of the book of the apocalypse. You have to go against that order to maintain a hypothesis that is not defined by the magisterium.

  11. Bridget, I think there will be celebrating and cheering when the two witnesses are killed simply because they will be teaching the Truth, which the world does not want to hear. Just as we're seeing now, anyone who tries to preach the true faith is immediately silenced, the Truth they speak seen as "offensive" and "racist" or "phobic."

    .
Hey! Everybody who tries to silence us can be called "veriphobes!" ;D

  12. Hello Rhona,

Yes, I have a very good friend who lives in Timperley, though when I lived in Manchester I rarely ventured that far west to be honest. Didsbury/Withington/Fallowfield is my home ground and my life didn't extend all that much from going up and down Wilmslow Rd/Oxford Road on the 42 into town and back. It's ironic really because now we live much further west than Timperley - in Wales!

With regards to Israel and Palestine joining the EU, that's something I've heard mentioned before by Terry Boardman, who's probably Britain's foremost follower and exponent of the teaching of Rudolf Steiner. He foresees a massive expansion of the EU (whereas I've always thought it would contract) and the Palestibian territories will be the 49th member and Israel the 50th.

As far as Europe goes, I've always had a hunch that Britain and France will become a lot closer than they are now. In the early stages of WW2 it was mooted that Britain and Framce should become one country, but obviously it didn't work out. I don't think that idea's completely dead in the water. It's something I can see happening, though I can't give any empirical evidence for that.

What both countries need first though is a significant spiritual, imaginative and cultural reorientation - back to before the Revolution in France and to the mentality that existed in Britain before the Refirmation, possibly even the Norman Conquest. This is why I'm not a Catholic Integralist, though I have a lot of sympathy for them. These things can't be imposed from on high. If you do that you just end up with something like Franco's Spain which does a good job of protecting religious rights but doesn't really engage with the hearts and minds of the people. Once the 'strong man' goes, so does the Christian state.

No, there needs to be some kind of awakening, a general reorientation, as I say, towards the Real and the True. I've no idea how this might happen. It's the work of the Holy Spirit and Our Lady, and in this respect I think the rededication of England to Our Lady on March 29th was particularly significant.

It's worth bearing in mind too that, as you know, both this country and France especially have been linked prophecy-wise to the Great Monarch. If both lands were to find a way of turning away from collective sin and illusion and towards the 'Lumen Christe' then it could clear the ground for those prophecies to actually take effect. It's an interesting thought that maybe in some way the prophecies are dependent on us to do our part to free up space to make them happen. An eschatological partnership with God.

My biggest concern here though is that it seems hard at the moment to see such a Metanoia taking place without the stimulus of a huge shock and disruption to shake people's minds up, greater it would seem than what's so far happened this year.

    Watch and pray, etc.

    All the best,

    John.

  13. Hi Emmett. The Bishop of Amos has denounced Father Rodrigue and his prophecies and has cut ties with him. Thank God for this. Many people have already been led astray by him and the Countdown to the Kingdom website and their YouTube videos. One real danger about the false timeline is that Catholics may be fooled into thinking that the coming Great Catholic Monarch is the anti-Christ and may well oppose him.

    God bless.

  14. Ya beat me to it, Anthony. I just saw this myself.

Honestly, after reading the letter from the bishop of Amos about Fr. Michel Rodrigue, I was strongly reminded of John Corapi.

Another danger is that his predictions came with specific times. The illumination of conscience was supposed to be this fall or winter (can’t recall which). How are people going to react when it doesn’t happen.

  15. Emmett, I heard at a seminar at Harvard Divinity School that Revelation, although written in Greek, had poor or even 'Hebrew' grammar and style throughout. Do you have any information on this?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Anon - I read somewhere once that Matthew was “written in Greek by someone who spoke Hebrew or Aramaic as their native tongue.” Can’t recall where I saw that now. There’s also a theory that Matthew wrote an Aramaic version prior to the Greek version, but that it’s been misdated.

And a priest fluent in both languages once told me that Mark’s Greek was clearly written by a speaker of Latin. I never knew enough Greek to see it, and I’ve never tried to translate the Latin (might be a fun project).

It’s all very fascinating how the linguistics play into it, and make’s St. Jerome’s accomplishment even more obviously a singular feat of divine intervention.

  17. Dear Emmett,

Can you address the recent debacle over the "Countdown to the Kingdom" authors' promotion of Fr. Michel Rodrigue? Giles Lemay, bishop of Amos, Quebec, has completely disavowed Fr. Rodrigue's messages, issuing an "Open Letter" to Catholics warning them of many errors, on Sept. 3, 2020. Kevin Symonds posted a copy on his blog. This is a definitive assessment.

It speaks volumes that neither Christine Watkins nor any of the other "Countdown" people--including Mark Mallett--bothered initially to check with Rodrigue's bishop, nor did they take to heart the first letter that bishop sent out warning that Rodrigue's statments were untrue.

In addition, the Countdown authors include Edson Gruber, a "seer" whose bishop ordered not to distribute messages or to hold services, as among their highlighted messengers.

As well, the Countdown people wildly inflated Daniel O'Connor's academic credentials, calling him a professor at the State University of New York. (In reality, grad student O'Connor is an adjunct--temporary, part-time instructor-- at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, NY.

And this does not even include their creation of a new standard of judgment of revelation, "prophetic consensus," which completely violates the Vatican guidelines for judging private revelation... What a sloppy bunch of self-proclaimed experts!

  19. Just for the record, I know next to nothing about either Rudolf Steiner or Terry Boardman and, based on a very swift perusal of their web content, I'm not that taken with their work either.

As for myself, my own knowledge is...... my own opinion and interpretation. I just put it out there for others to discuss and/or dissect.

For example - the Monarch is cited as 'walking with a limp' in many places.
I view this not just as a physical attribute but as a character or personality trait or something that reflects on his life.
I believe it pertains to Jacob wrestling God on Mt. Peniel (Genesis 32:22–32)at the end of which God causes him to limp.

    This gives us many clues.

    1. The Monarch is as important as Jacob - he will found a 'nation'- Jacobs 12 children headed the 12 tribes of Israel. Monarchs 'children' will be the European states.
It follows then that 'Israel' is Europe. Its entirely possible that 'Jerusalem' is England or France.

    2. The 'wrestling with God' has overtone of personal struggle and faith. My opinion is that this indicates that both Jacob and the Monarch struggle with their faith/belief.

There is more but its getting late so g'night all.....

  20. Thank you for writing this great article, Emmett. Personally, I am not inclined to guess the divine schedule which by definition is known perfectly only to Him. We are allowed to glimpse for the good of our faith and the salvation of our souls:

"I know, O Lord, that the way of human beings is not in their control,
that mortals as they walk cannot direct their steps." Jeremiah 10:22

Neither map nor schedule of events are needed by those who "follow the Lamb wherever he goes" (Revelation 14:4) -- It is obvious that those involved in the confection of this neo-millenarian idea, have the best intentions but so did the religious authorities of Jesus' time. They rejected the Messiah even when they had all the right information before their eyes. We must be very careful not to fall into that trap. Better be like Christ's disciples who humbly followed Him even when they could not quite understand where He was going. They knew Him, they loved Him, they trusted Him and that was all that mattered.

Truly this is a moment of great confusion.

God bless you and God bless your work.

  22. Thank you, Emmett, Carlos, et al, for your understanding of the truth of God’s word. Out of curiosity I purchased “The Warning” and gave it to our Bible Study group to read in an effort to understand what the seers have proclaimed about an Illumination of Conscience. Blessed Anna Maria Taigi said, “A great purification will come upon the world preceded by an Illumination of Conscience in which everyone will see themselves as God sees them.” Conchita said that the Warning will be in interior realization of our sins and that Catholics will be able to bear it with more resignation than others. In the Diary of St. Faustina she describes Christ seeing into her heart and the importance of confession and finding a spiritual director. It appears we in the US are in the time of purification where we have had access to the Eucharist including Eucharistic adoration diminished. For 12 years I have loved my weekly visits to see Jesus in the 24 hour adoration chapel, which is now closed. Access to mass is greatly reduced. Our parish priests have been working overtime to offer more masses as there are fewer people allowed at each mass. We must get there early in order to get into mass. We go to confession in the parking lot behind large umbrellas. God bless our priests. When we traveled this past weekend we learned the people of St. Agnes haVe to make online reservations to attend mass. We have hurdles put before us everywhere we look. The degrees of difficulty are getting greater with Covid. There is no doubt in my mind that we are in the second half of the tribulation. How kind is the Virgin Mary to have given us the Rosary as a gift to remember and to reflect on the life of Jesus. She disclosed at Fatima what lies ahead. Thank you for your clarity and perseverance in bringing the truth to us. God bless you - all of you.

  24. I hate to muddy the waters any more than they already are, but I believe I read somewhere within the last 6 months an article I think it was by Professor Robert de Mattei saying that the prophecies of a Great French Monarch were false. Did anyone else see an article like this?

    ReplyDelete
  25. @Veritas - I'm not aware of any such article but I'd be interested if you could find it (I cannot so far).
That aside I'm confused by your Great French Monarch statement.

In the first instance there are multiple prophecies across countries and cultures about such a personage. None are specifically French.

It is true that many are politically motivated or have been hijacked for those ends - in particular by French Monarchists after the overthrow of Monarchy in that country. Perhaps this is the source of your confusion?

Others still mention a Royal lineage - mentioning the 'House of Lillies' - the Fleur-De-Lis - which is the symbol of the French royal family. But other state he will come from England, Portugal, Germany or any other country you care to think of. He will also be descended from St Louis, King Pepin and Charlemagne, the Hapsburgs and many, many more!!!

All in all, the writings must be read symbolically, as I have outlined above.
These descriptions all allude to part of this persons character, career or other attribute and are not to be taken on their own.

As I pointed out to Emmett many moons ago - vexillology (among other things) is your friend in this respect ;)

  26. It seems like President Trump has significant interest in getting the Arab nations to recognize Israel. He has dispatched the Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo and his son in law, Jared Kushner to tour and rally different Arab nations to recognize Israel. The United Arab Emirates and Bahrain have agreed to recognize Israel. It seems strange that the thing that really gets President Trump excited is this on boarding of Muslim nations to recognize Israel. I was searching to find what signs the Evangelicals look for in determining the end times and found this: https://www.benjaminlcorey.com/could-american-evangelicals-spot-the-antichrist-heres-the-biblical-predictions/

  30. Is it really realistic that before the Antichrist there will arise a “Great Catholic monarch” who will become a world ruler and bring about a Catholic renewal to most of the world? How could that possibly happen? In addition to him becoming a legitimate ruler he would also then have to gain full control of all the media, educational institutions, banking etc… You know the feat that took the devil and his minions centuries to accomplish.

And to think that these same globalists minions would just stand idly and let that happen is beyond absurd.

If there is ever going to be a Catholic monarch it will only happen in the New Era after the present order is completely destroyed.

    ReplyDelete
  31. @Anonymous 00.32

I totally agree with you. And besides, even if the "Great Catholic Monarch" is to come to be then wiped away by the Antichrist, are we going to stay under the Antichrist rules until Judgement Day and the second coming of Christ?

I really find it very hard to believe.

  32. I guess the real danger here is that the people who are duped into believing this stuff will not recognize the Antichrist even if he is in their face. They will say: ‘we know the Great Monarch has to come first, so this man cannot be the Antichrist’.

    ReplyDelete
  33. With regards to the three most recent comments, my sense is that the Great Monarch can perhaps best be seen as a forerunner or herald of the return of Christ Himself. He plays a role analogous to John the Baptist in other words. It's inevitable, in my view, that the closer we get to the second coming, the more the light from the era to come - the Heavenly City, the New Jerisalem, etc - will shine through into the darkness of our current era. And we need to be alive to those rays of light and understand their true nature and why we are receiving them and what they signify.

Yes, the Great Monarch, will appear to be eclipsed by the Antichrist but his witness and presence in the world will remain in the hearts and minds of Christians through the toughest of times - a little like the memory of the Transfiguration must have helped keep Peter, James and John going through the darkness and sorrow of Good Friday and Holy Saturday.

And finally, yes, the advent of a Great Monarch seems far-fetched at the moment, I know. But if you had told me in January this year or that by September we'd all have to wear masks in shops and on public transport and stand 2 metres apart there's no way I would have believed you. Things can turn around pretty quickly. Just look at how the First World War brought about the collapse of four empires - the Russian, German, Austro-Hungarian and Ottoman. Apart from the last of these, they all seemed solid enough as political and social entities in 1914. Ditto the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991, which absolutely no-one foresaw in the late '80s.

If God wants to find a way, He will.

    ReplyDelete
  34. The problem here is that people are taking the ideas too literally and being led into error.

The idea that control of the banking system or media would be needed is not just simplistic but nonsensical. Jesus didnt need control of any of these things - in fact he advocated the opposite.
The person we're talking about is someone whose work mirrors or prefigures a portion or part of the Christ. Thats your clue right there. Jesus gave a message, said *this* is the way and left it up to individuals to decide, or save themselves.

The main role of the Monarch is to provide protection to the Church on earth and allow its message to be spread. Much as Peter was a 'bodyguard' to Jesus.

As for the time, it is my belief that the renewal of the Church is something that people will see as a failure of the Church but it will in fact be a great success and the cause the Church to prosper 'as never before'. A return to a mendicant tradition might be in order here. I'd like to hear Emmetts views on that.

I'm also of the opinion that there will be a number of years, if not decades, between the death of the GM and the arrival of Antichrist. I'm in my 40s and I think it unlikely to occur in my lifetime. The Monarch we will see soon, if we havent already seen him.

  38. There are prophecies that seem to suugest leo the wise is the actual Great Monarch as he descended from the Franks and will return at the end of the age:

"With regards to the legendary, poor and chosen king, who is well known and yet unknown, who lives at the edge of the geographical area of the Byzantine empire. The true king, whom people have chased from his abode… will be revealed at the time when the end of the Ishmaelites approaches… It will be on a Friday, in the third hour of the morning when he will be revealed… He, who is to be revealed, will be identified by means of celestial signs. While he is sleeping, he will hear a voice and see and Angel who will appear like a royal servant dressed in white; the Angel will take him by the hand and will tell him: you, who are sleeping, get up… Jesus Christ will be with you. It is your calling to lead a chosen people; and the Angel will add: you, who have been concealed, do not hide yourself any longer, many are asking for you… and furthermore, the Angel will give him plaques of stone upon which are etched two commands:

punish the evil doers and rule justly over your defeated enemies.

And you should punish impiety and utterly consume with fire those who engage in acts of Sodomy; furthermore, the bad priests you should chase from the alter and you should restitute the worthy priests. And the King will have signs to be recognize by. The nail of his big toe on his right foot has a corn… on his shoulders he bears two red crosses… the name of the King is not revealed among the nations… the Lord will lay His hand upon the head of the King… In those days, the humans will become distresses and will turn their faces towards the earth and they will put dirt on their heads and will cry out with a loud voice to the Lord God, the God of Heaven and earth, and God will listen to their supplications and He will send them his Archangel, in the form of a human being who will come in the islands. And the Archangel will find the holy one of God who is not seen or suspected by anybody… who is concealed to the eyes of the world and inconspicuous, but who is known to God and also to himself; he is descended from royalty and from dukes and he is a saintly person… God will make him revealed and he will be presented to the people and will be anointed with chrism (holy oil) in his old age…

And this is how the king will be revealed to the people: there will be a star which will appear for the duration of three days and in the third hour of the night of the eve of the holiday of the Mother of the Most High, the star will be seen in the middle of the city. And this star is not one of the planets but it will be like the one which made its appearance during the salvation-bringing birth of Jesus. And a herald will be crying aloud in these three days calling and revealing the hoped-for king. Then, the citizens of the city seeing and hearing the thunderous voice will be amazed. And with joy and fear will come out and they will say that they ignore the identity of the hoped-for king. While all are watching and extensively and fervently praying ‘Lord have Mercy’ and beating their foreheads on the ground and putting dirt on their heads, and wailing and crying bitter tears for the coming sorrow, their prayers will be heard by God. God will receive favorably their supplication and with a well-disposed eye He will look down upon the inhabitants of the earth; and it is for the sake of the then remaining Elect that the chosen one will be made known.

  39. In the sky, at that time a nebulous (hazy) firmament will be visible and something circular resembling the image of the sun which will seemingly be of a size corresponding to a circle circumscribed on a threshing floor by six oxen. A cross will be hanging underneath it, and at the left side of the purple-colored cross, and extending arc such as the one given to our forefathers in eternal testament; and since nobody will know the identity of the hoped-for person, the arc will be broken at its southern part, as it becomes decomposed in the firmament and this way the exact location of the true King will be shown. Then, the nations, having given praise to God, will rush to the area indicated by the edge of the arc; and having received the precious and elderly royal man with lit candles and palm tree branches, with singing and pomp they will bring him into the Great Zion… And an invisible herald with a thunderous voice calling from heaven will address the people with the following words: Is this man agreeable to you? And everybody will be filled with fear and terror and ecstacy because of the thunderous voice from above. And beating their chest with wailing and tears, raising their arms towards heaven they will say: Yes, Lord, because You have given him to us, he is agreeable to us. And having bowed in submission before him, they will bring him into the Great Zion. And the King, having prayed to God in front of the gates, they will be opened up… And those who were there will run away in great terror; the people having prayed to God will receive the King and they will bring him to an elevated spot and proclaim him their King… And in this manner they will reach the palace in night time and the signs in the heavens will fade away. The King will be guided by two Angels in the guise of officials dressed in white; and they will whisper into his ears instructions concerning his future activities."

  41. St. Michael reaffirms this notion in a prophecy to Marie Julie Jahnney. He states:

The corpses of the enemies of the king will be trampled under the feet of those who will accompany him to the throne where he must reign, restoring peace to bloom everywhere again, however, there will remain enemies standing when the king will take possession because he must come in during the course of the storm. But he will be brought safe and sound because the Mother of God will protect him as her own son and has reserved for him to inherit a merited crown that will delight him. The days of exile will be long and cost dearly to the faithful and Catholic King, but he will be more richly rewarded. Let men affirm and say he will never return. Listen to them and ask them if they are prophets.”

  48. Blessed Catherine Emmerich (1774-1824) declared the Emperor would be named Henry, even the controversial and non-approved ‘prophet’ of the Renaissance, Nostradamus, mentions a Great King who will rule in latter times and provided the name ‘CHYREN’, a cryptic letter puzzle often interpreted as ‘Henryc’ or Henry. Curiously, Nostradamus also included the phrase ‘NE PLUS ULTRA’ in one of his prophecies with ‘CHYREN’, a Latin phrase meaning ‘nothing more beyond’ and also ‘the highest or farthest point that can be attained’. Of interest, it was foretold many times by the true mystics of the Church that the Great King and Emperor to come would be the last and greatest of the French monarchs, there would not be another like him, nor would another king rule after him.

  57. Then will arise a king of the Greeks whose name is Constans. He will be king of the Romans and the Greeks. He will be tall of stature, of handsome appearance with shining face, and well put together in all parts of his body. His reign will be ended after one hundred and twelve years. In those days there will be great riches and the earth will give fruit abundantly so that a measure of wheat will be sold for a denarius, a measure of wine for a denarius, and a measure of oil for a denarius. The king will have a text before his eyes that says:

"The king of the Romans will claim the whole Christian empire for himself."

While he is reigning, two very famous men, Elijah and Enoch, will go forth to announce the coming of the Lord. Antichrist will kill them and after three days they will be raised up by the Lord. Then there will be a great persecution, such as has not been before nor shall be thereafter. The Lord will shorten those days for the sake of the elect, and the Antichrist will be slain by the power of God through Michael the Archangel on the Mount of Olives. 62. Hence the identity of the Great Monarch will still remain completely hidden to a blind and unfaithful generation until God returns him with the spectacular miracles and signs that he foretold to Marie-Julie. As the prophet Amos declared: “For the Lord God doth nothing without revealing his secret to his servants the prophets.” (Amos 3:7) Through Marie-Julie the faithful have already been told who the king is and that he will 'be returned', Henry V, while the unbelievers will never be able to understand the prophecies concerning the future days until the chastisements are almost upon them, the 'last moment' as stated above when the Great Monarch, the 'mortal Saviour', the 'Saviour of the world' the 'new Saviour' and 'hidden Saviour' as Marie-Julie described him will finally be returned to deliver France, the Church and the world. “Verily thou art a hidden God, the God of Israel, the Saviour.” (Isaias 45:15) Of interest, we cannot help but note that God often hides His greatest mystics, chosen souls and saints in obscurity, almost to the point their works and revelations seem dead and buried, then, they are brought forth in all their glory in the times when they are needed most to show that their works truly came from Him.

The days of exile will be long and cost dearly to the faithful and Catholic King, but he will be more richly rewarded. Let men affirm and say he will never return. Listen to them and ask them if they are prophets.”

  88. “The hour of God is not far,” says St. Michael, “this profound terror will (bring about) the triumph of the new France. But this triumph cannot come before (if) Justice is not (pressed down) on this rotten land. Do not expect anything of him who reigns as king and who, today, sits in the same chair as the others – a chair that bears no mark of a special power or much grander. His mind is in accordance with the thoughts of others, his word to their word, his will to their will. His power and authority are not more than he who is the last. Do not expect anything from this side: he does not deserve any more respect than all the rest. In the storm, his voice will cry as loud as the others, against all that God has established. There is no strength in him; they lead him, they have directed him. This is the portrait of this man; he is a pillar of mud. Grieve about it, but do not give it much thought.” Marie-Julie: “I will not think about it, good Saint Michael.” St. Michael: “To reinstate the King chosen and destined by God, it is necessary that all those who are present be swept away.”

    ReplyDelete

  89. St. Michael (on the same day): “I want to tell you this secret: expect nothing, absolutely nothing of men. To restore the King chosen and destined by God it is necessary that those who are in (this present) moment are swept away because the worthy King, this man of God, can not sit in place of the hypocrite king who after many years will no longer stench up the land, at least from the side above (possible interpretation: he will only stench up his grave?). The poison is resting on the throne, it must be purified because there is another St. Louis (The Great Monarch) who will sit on the fragrant lily.”

    ReplyDelete

  90. Of interest, in France the president is not regarded in the same light as in other democratic countries, the French people regard their president like a king. Several people in France who have been studying Marie-Julie’s prophecies speculate that this ‘pillar of mud’ could be a prediction about President Nicolas Sarkozy, who professes to be Catholic and is also of aristocratic blood. Sarkosy’s father was from the Hungarian aristocracy, his paternal ancestors were ennobled by Ferdinand II of Hapsbourg in 1608. According to the ancient Salic law, only a Catholic may be king of France, but we are to beware placing our hope in the ‘pillar of mud’. ‘Sar’ and ‘kos’ in Hungarian mean ‘dirt’ and ‘mud’ respectively. ‘Sar’ can also mean ‘mire’, while ‘sark’ means ‘pole’. Considering the Hungarian interpretation of Sarkozy’s name in addition to his Hungarian background, the cryptic prophecy is now unveiled. St. Michael is warning not to place any faith in this democratic aristocrat to bring about the promised restoration for he is no better than the rest of the other democratic leaders, he is not the absolute King chosen by God. Democracy must be swept away before the absolute monarchy can be restored.

She said the 'King and Queen martyrs', but apparently never literally said Louis XVI and Queen Antoinette, the 'Marquis' assumed this himself. Also, he was wrong in saying the Great Monarch's identity was not revealed. His identity was in fact revealed several times in Marie-Julie's visions. Henry V, the exiled 'Miracle Child'. Nevertheless, Henry V is related to King Louis XVI and Queen Marie-Antoinette through both his father and mother, and, Henry V fulfils the Great Monarch prophecy of Bl. 123. Last Roman Emperor, also called Last World Emperor or Emperor of the Last Days, is a figure of medieval European legend, which developed as an aspect of Christian eschatology. The legend predicts that in the end times, a last emperor would appear on earth to reestablish the Roman Empire and assume his function as biblical katechon who stalls the coming of the Antichrist. The legend first appears in the 7th-century apocalyptic text known as the Apocalypse of Pseudo-Methodius; that and the oracles of the Tiburtine Sibyl are its two most important sources. It developed over the centuries, becoming particularly prominent in the 15th century. The notion of Great Catholic Monarch is related to it, as is the notion of the Angelic Pope.

  124. The concept of the Great King features prominently in mystical and folk traditions, as well as writings of people thought to have been granted gifts of prophecy or special visitations by messengers from heaven (such as angels, saints, or Christ). The Great Catholic Monarch was very popular in popular folklore until the 18th century Enlightenment. He reappeared in 19th century prophecy when French legitimists believed that the count of Chambord, Henry V of France would be the new king.

Marie-Julie Jahenny (1850-1941), also known as the "Breton" stigmatist, prophesied that Henry V, the Count of Chambord, was the chosen King. Despite his death, one of her predictions dated 1890 declares he is yet "reserved for the great epochs", i.e. the end of time.[5]

  125. Muslims are people who follow or practice Islam, a monotheistic Abrahamic religion. Muslims consider the Quran, their holy book, to be the verbatim word of God as revealed to the Islamic prophet and messenger Muhammad. The majority of Muslims also follow the teachings and practices of Muhammad (sunnah) as recorded in traditional accounts (hadith).[29] The derivation of "Muslim" is from an Arabic word meaning "submitter" (to God).[30]

The beliefs of Muslims include: that God (Arabic: الله‎ Allāh) is eternal, transcendent and absolutely one (tawhid); that God is incomparable, self-sustaining and neither begets nor was begotten; that Islam is the complete and universal version of a primordial faith that has been revealed before through many prophets including Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Moses, and Jesus;[31] that these previous messages and revelations have been partially changed or corrupted over time (tahrif)[32] and that the Quran is the final unaltered revelation from God (Final Testament).[33]

But after some considerable time, fervor shall cool, iniquity shall abound, and moral corruption shall become worse than ever, which shall bring upon mankind the last and worse persecution of Anti-Christ, and then the end of the world.”

  179. The capital of the world will fall. The Pope will go over the sea carrying the sign of redemption on his forehead, and after the victory of the Pope and the Great Monarch peace will reign on earth.” Werdin d’Otante ( 1300 AD)

  181. “All My veritable prophetic words, O King of exile, call you and acclaim you. Without deferring too much, I will return to your subjects and your people he who bears on his head the same flower that you love. This flower is the lily, O King, miracle child, do not prepare to come from exile under a thick dust stirred up by the fury of the murderers of your country. You will prepare to come on the edge of this land that was foreign to you. From the north of the borders your noble person will pass through the legions who only wait for you to rise up a vengeance. But, as the day of darkness, their eyes will be veiled, the exile will be returned and My Justice will be accomplished. You will pass to reclaim the sceptre of glory. You will temper the tip in the blood of the Romans, in the defence of the Sovereign Pontiff, the bond of all the faithful.”
