The Third Secret of Fatima and the Visions of Bl. Elizabeth Canori-Mora

The prophetic visions of Blessed Elizabeth Canori-Mora contain some striking similarities with the Third Secret of Fatima, and appear more relevant to the Church of today than ever before. The below passage, taken from the 1878 book The Life of the Venerable Elizabeth Canori Mora, by Mary Elizabeth Herbert.  Worth noting in particular is Bl. Elizabeth's vision of a much weakened Church being restored after two angels gather up an offering of supplication in two chalices which are then given to St. Felix of Valois and St. John of Matha - the founders of the Trinitarian Order, which was dedicated to ransoming captive Christians. It appears to suggest that this vision of the restoration of the Church, which reflects the two angels gathering up the blood of the martyrs seen in the Third Secret, is in fact related to the end of the period of the unbinding of Satan described in Rev 20:

One day, during an ecstasy, S. John the Baptist conducted her into an august and mysterious temple. The Blessed Virgin laid the Infant Jesus upon an Altar, and began to pray for the Church, supplicating her Divine Son to suspend the rigours of His Justice, and not to disperse the Ministers of the Sanctuary. She reminded Him that she was His Mother, and that, as His Mother, she hoped to be heard.

The Infant Jesus replied: "My justice will no longer support so many abominations. You are My Mother, but you are also My creature!"

With the august Queen of Heaven a multitude of Religious, united with their holy Founders, had also implored mercy. But scarcely had they heard the words of the Divine Infant, than they fell on their knees and adored the impenetrable decrees of the Most High. Then all the holy Religious offered to Him the incense of the good works of their respective Orders. The Infant God then raised His Hand, blessed them, and with them His faithful servant. The exile of the Sovereign Pontiff and the dispersion of the College of Cardinals took place very soon after this vision.

Another time three Angels conducted Elizabeth into a subterranean place where, in secret and in darkness, the impious were plotting the ruin of the Church. She there saw also persons covered with a mask of hypocrisy, who, under the specious pretext of doing good, secretly favoured the designs of the agents of Hell. The Venerable Mother was penetrated by a feeling of horror in presence of a sight of which the idea would never have presented itself to her mind. To console her. Our Lord showed her the re-establishment of the Society of Jesus, through the intercession of S. Ignatius Loyola. She also saw a Father of the same Society, illustrious by his knowledge and virtue, who, in union with other Fathers, defended the rights of Holy Church, and many others who shed their blood for Jesus Christ.

Actuated only by her zeal for the Church, Elizabeth, in her humility, addressed ardent prayers to Our Lord to obtain a cessation of this persecution. At that moment the All-Powerful caused His Justice to shine forth, and exterminated these wretches in a manner so prompt and terrible, that during several days her mind was troubled. She felt throughout her whole body a most intense terror, and experienced for a long time an icy coldness which ran through all her limbs. The following vision made an impression upon her no less vivid.

The Church appeared to her standing before the throne of God, supplicating Him to spare her children, and especially the Priests, Secular and Regular. But the Most High refused to listen, and said to her: "Take the part of My Justice, and judge your own cause." At these words the Church took off all her ornaments, aided by three Angels, executioners of Divine Justice; reduced to this sad state, she became so weak that she could not support herself. Then Our Lord gave her a staff to support herself upon, and a veil to cover her head.

In her desolation she bitterly sobbed, and deplored the solitude in which her children had left her. Suddenly the Spirit of the Lord invested her with a bright and intense light, which, spreading itself in four different directions, accomplished great and wonderful things. In the mild rays of this glory, those who slumbered in error arose, and re-entered her bosom, surrounding her with homage and respect. The Church appeared more beautiful and resplendent than ever. Six of the principal Religious Orders appeared as so many firm and strong columns destined to sustain her.

But, before enjoying this triumph, she had to pass through evils so frightful, that Elizabeth's Confessor was terrified by them. Desirous to avert them, he ordered his heroic penitent to go to S. Mary Major and make an entire offering of herself, of all the benefits she had received, and of those which she was to receive, in union with the offering of Jesus Christ upon the Cross. Elizabeth piously hastened to obey; and at the moment when she offered herself to Our Lord, two Angels descended from Heaven, received her offering in two chalices which they gave to S. Felix of Valois and S. John of Matha, who presented them to the Blessed Virgin, and she presented them to the Holy Trinity. The two chalices were placed before the throne of the Most High, and there remained to appease His just anger.

Our Lord confided to her His secrets ; she wept unceasingly at seeing Him prepared to discharge upon the world the weight of His anger. She would have wished to deliver men, at the price of all her blood, from the evils which threatened them. But her prudent Confessor told her not to oppose the designs of God, and to content herself with praying in conformity with His Holy Will. She did so, and Our Lord, showing that He was moved, said to her : "This is a prayer worthy of Me." One day, however, the ardour of her zeal caused her to forget this rule. Having seen that God was about to show forth His Justice, she flew in spirit to the foot of His Throne, and incessantly prayed that He would stop His avenging arm. At that moment the chastisement would have drawn down upon many the loss of both body and soul.

One day she could not see, without extreme pain, so many persons of all ages and of every condition attach themselves to the perverse maxims of the world, and without shame outrage the God of all Majesty. In the ardour of her zeal to remedy this grave disorder, she offered herself to God to suffer all sorts of torments at the hands of men, and all kinds of vexations from devils. The Heavenly Father accepted her offering, and gave her the power of binding the devil who perverted so many souls, and of enclosing him in the abyss with the aid of two Fathers of the Order of the Holy Trinity.

  2. Hi Emmett! I hope things are going well with your PhD!

So just to refresh my memory, the two angels represent the Two Witnesses, right?

Also, how does the McCarrick report play into all of this? Does it makes sense that this report was laid bare at the end of Satan’s unbinding? Part of the Church “taking off all her ornaments” and being reduced to a “sad state?”

  3. Hi Bridget! I've had to defer the start date of my Ph.D till March, but I'm busy with research for my next book in the mean time. Yes, I argue that the two angels represent the Two Witnesses who come to restore the Church, which I attempt to equate with the Angelic Pope and Great Monarch. According to Blessed Elizabeth, the Church is restored after a period of chastisement, which I am going to attempt to show is directly related to the unbinding of Satan.

I regard the McCarrick report as part and parcel of thew wider abuse scandal which has been going on since the 1960's. These are the "sores" which manifested themselves on the body of God's servant Job during Satan's second request to put him to the test.

  4. Given that so much of what happened to Job has corresponded to the sufferings of the Church, I wonder if this book, which some scholars consider a "morality play" of sorts, isn't actually a prophetical book instead, wherein the prophecies were expressed through allegory. It also seems to contain a message of hope, since Job's health and wealth are eventually restored and even increased over what they were before his period of testing.

  5. I would say that the Book of Job is predominately prophetical in character, and that it is heavily weighted towards signifying the trial of the Church at the end-time. There is a great deal of hope in the possibility of the restoration of the Church in the very near future, as there are various signs that the period of Satan's unbinding has now come to a close, which should allow the Gospel to spread once more.

  6. Fr. Ripperger had some very interesting points to make in a recent interview with Fr. Heilman and Doug Barry. He said that, in exorcisms, just before the demon is expelled, it will say things designed to demoralize the exorcist, to make him lose faith and want to give up. He sees a direct correlation to what is happening in America right now, with the media claiming that Biden won the election when the counting and investigations aren't even finished yet. It tells him that the numerous prayer campaigns for this country are actually working; he sees this premature celebration as an attempt to make the rest of us give up on our prayers. Instead, in light of his advice, if anything, the campaigns have increased. You can watch the video here:
    https://usgraceforce.com/grace-force-podcast-episode-64-fr-ripperger-fighting-back-against-the-satanic-mob/

Fr. Ripperger and Mr. Barry also recently interviewed a man who was once a Grand Wizard of the Satanic Temple in Florida and subsequently converted to Catholicism. He told us that yes, the Illuminati actually do exist, and they are united with the Satanic Temple. He also said that every single President in the history of the US, except one, has gone to the Satanic Temple to ensure an election victory...except one. The ONLY President in our history who did not turn to Satan for help was...TRUMP! In fact, in 2016, according to the former Grand Wizard, had paid for a Satanic ritual to ensure her election, but 2016 was the Year of Mercy, and that's why Trump won instead. Unfortunately, I can't give you an address for this interview, because (surprise!) it seems to have disappeared from the Internet.

  8. JMC, you have to be careful of what even former wizards say. If their conversion is real, they will no longer be deceivers, but what they were told before their conversion and they believe to be true is probably filled with deceit. Just as the demonic are claiming victory and the election is over, and as Fr Ripperger points out, rights that they do not have, they will claim members that they did not have and lie about ones that actually are.

I really doubt every president except Trump went to a temple. But, I do not doubt most of the recent ones did, and the failed candidates also. And not just the presidential candidates, I get a creepy feeling whenever I see certain congressional candidates.

  9. Yeah, I get that; I even wondered about that myself as I was watching the video. Just passing on what he said, though.

I'll certainly agree with you about politicians in general. I had creepy feelings about certain mayors in the city where I grew up. I actually met one of them, and he quite literally made my skin crawl.

  13. Hey guys! So do you think this US election is part of Rev 12 playing out for America over the past 20 years? The last time there was a disputed presidential election was in 2000. Keep in mind that Emmett has always pointed out that the turn of the millennium was when St. Michael cast Satan out of heaven and down to earth. I’m paraphrasing here, but that’s when Satan, realizing he has just a short amount of time left, wages war against the Woman and sends out a flood threatening to sweep her away. So back to the election of 2000...the Supreme Court on December 12th, the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe (patroness of America and protectress of the unborn) ruled in favor of Bush giving America a pro-life win. Twenty years later (while the flood has been raging on), we’re now presented with another disputed election with abortion at stake. Since 2020 is the year that Satan’s greater power comes to an end, can we hope that Trump will ultimately give America another pro-life win? The flood threatens to sweep the Woman away, but she’s saved at the very last minute. Isn’t that what we’re seeing play out now? What do you guys think?

Also, I’m not super clear on how all the legal stuff works, but it’s interesting that one of the electoral college deadlines falls on December 8th this year, the feast of the Immaculate Conception (patroness of the United States)

  14. In this prophecy when it refers to a Father who is a Jesuit who with other Fathers defends the right of the Church and martyrs, in the original Italian does anyone know if Bl. Elizabeth used the word Padre (indicative I'd think of an "ordinary" priest, or Papa, which would suggest she's speaking of the Pope. While I'm not suggesting this refers to Pope Francis, it sure seems specific naming a Jesuit in particular, more so than more prophecies that seem more opaque.

I wonder if the other Fathers she refers to our successive popes after this Jesuit one, or popes that come before them, or some combination... or maybe (and this is a real stretch I know), could the Fathers she refers to be contemporary of each other, perhaps maybe a representation of a time of enough distress in Christianity that the East-West as well as Western schism are healed through the work of say the Pope, the Patriarch of Constantinople, and if America may be destroyed at some point, the Archbishop of Canterbury would represent the bulk of Protestants I'd imagine left in the world.

I thought it curious at to the reason why Bl. Elizabeth would find such solace in being told that the Jesuits would one day again re-form... was it specifically because of the prophecy she received of the Jesuit Father who would be so important? That made me wonder if even to those with the gift of prophecy have some greater understanding of the conditional nature of prophecy in that people of God still need to go along with His plans for things to work out as they are meant. I pondered the nature of predestination for quite awhile over this, and though she may have been relieved for other reasons that the Jesuits would be re-formed, it seems curious that this would be mentioned in such close proximity to the prophecy of a Jesuit Father being instrumental during the period she prophesied about.

  15. Hello Emmett, I've read your book with interest, and also the blog.
You'll have to correct me if i'm wrong. Are not these visions of Bl Elizabeth Canori Mora, the third secret of Fatima and Rev 12 concerned with the state of the Church. I can understand the temptation to be side tracked towards the domestic concerns of one single country.
I've noticed these trends before but surely these biblical are more universal..

    ReplyDelete
  16. Oh I didn’t mean the suggest that the US elections were THE meaning of Rev 12...sorry! I just viewed it as another layer that’s happening. I think the US gets mixed into these prophecies of the Church because it’s America’s destruction that makes way for the rise of the Antichrist.

  17. I won't necessarily discount any prominent role the U.S. has in prophecy, scriptural or otherwise, just based on it being the most powerful country the world has ever known with an array of client states that would make the Roman Empire truly envious. It's hard to see how a nation of such size and influence *won't* be referenced in prophecy being that there has never been another empire or nation with even a fraction of the power and influence of the States. When thinking for example of a country that controls all commerce in the world, the US definitely fits that bill (ask anyone in Iran right now about that).

This is a rather dubious connection I guess, but Bl. Elizabeth and Blessed Anna-Maria Taigi were in the same secular order and were great friends; I don't know if the two of them ever discussed the prophecies that were revealed to them, maybe that is something they only would rightly talk about with their spiritual advisors, but Bl. Anna-Maria was known to have a very keen interest in the United States that was reported repeatedly. I guess we all have countries other than our own that we feel an affinity with or interest in, but this interest in the U.S. maybe, who knows, maybe it's because of an out-sized role the U.S. may play in Bl. Anna-Maria's prophecies? It's hard to imagine with this interest of hers that she didn't share her interest with her very good friend and fellow visionary? Just a thought.

  23. That article about the next eclipse was pretty persuasive (with the eclipse beginning on Divine Mercy Sunday especially), and that very particular trajectory that covers all the formerly Christusn nations in N. America and W. Europe.

I don't know very much about astronomy other than where to find constellations and planets in the sky to know whether the trajectory (if that's the correct word for it) making a perfect cross with the trajectory of the last eclipse is a really cosmic oddity or not, but that felt like something hard to just chalk up to coincidence. Mark W., I remember you are really good with astronomy, do you know whether the peculiar intersection if the paths of both eclipses intersecting so is a normal characteristic or something much more rare?

If a major case came before the SCOTUS on abortion soon (there will likely be a challenge this year I think to the fetal heartbeat law in one particular state), and the justices threw it back to each individual state to decide (which I think could be the most likely "big" move on abortion from the court), basically re-making the issue of abortion again a legislative decision rather than a legal one, I wonder...

Would that be something that could act as a penance for how Western liberal democracies have become apostates by-and-large, or would a more genuine wholesale re-conversion of our nations be necessary to avoid more chastisements like SARS-CoV-2?

    ReplyDelete
  24. I recall reading somewhere that it's very rare that the same area is getting two total eclipses within a mere seven years. In the normal course of events, the span between two eclipses in the same area is a minimum of 100 years. Before 2017, the last time a total eclipse occurred over the US was sometime in the 18th century.

  25. Roy Shoeman has recently given some excellent talks on Battles in which the Blessed Virgin Mary was key. The talks on Battle of the Marne and Pont Main in particular which he gave on Sunday and yesterday's talk give me so much hope for Our Lady to be victorious in the US election outcome. I highly recommend listening to these talks at blog.salvationisfromthejews.com He has begun praying the Divine Mercy every day at 3pm EST. and then the Rosary so if you want to just hear the talks skip to after those.

Tomorrow being the 100th anniversary of the legalization of abortion in the USSR, Nov. 18th, 1920, might this not signal the end of the 100 years of the unbinding of s***** and the beginning of his being bound again? Then Dec. 8th being the Feast of the Immaculate Conception and also being the day the Electors vote is amazing! Keep praying and praying and praying, add the Litany of Our Blessed Mother and the Magnificat to your daily prayers as well as the Consecration of your Exterior Goods to Our Lady that Fr. Ripperger suggests - the election is NOT over! I believe Our Lady will bring us victory if we do!

    1. Renewing Marian entrustments

Bishop John Carroll of Baltimore, the first bishop of the United States, promoted devotion to Mary, the Mother of God, and placed the United States under her protection in a pastoral letter of 1792, the US bishops wrote in an April 23 announcement.

Later, in 1847, Pope Pius IX approved the US bishops’ decision to name the Blessed Virgin Mary, under the title of the Immaculate Conception, as the Patroness of the United States.

The U.S. bishops once again consecrated the nation to Mary during the 1959 dedication of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C.

Canada was first consecrated to Mary at a National Marian Congress in Ottawa in 1947, then again in 1954. The bishops last renewed the consecration on July 2, 2017.

The bishops of many other countries over the years— including, most recently, Mexico and the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean on Easter Sunday— have consecrated their nations to Mary.

After receiving more than 300 letters during the coronavirus pandemic, the bishops of Italy will also consecrate the nation to Mary on May 1, at a shrine in northern Italy.

  26. The Church itself is what we need to focus on.We all have political preferences all of which have detractions from a Christian point of view.
It's easy to forget how enthusiastically many Christians, including Catholics supported National Socialism in 1933 Germany. With its push for traditional German Christian values, its not too difficult to see why.
Focusing purely on one or two issues,no matter how important can blind us to other amoral and ungodly 'qualities'that are the blight of many a politician.
When it comes to voting in any democracy,God's guidance is pivotal,He's also blessed us with the ability to use our own judgement of what we see and hear..

  29. Thanks for that synopsis Mick, You summed up that tension between being a faithful Catholic and the dilemma of the right-left political dichotomy where every party violates binding teachings of the Church.

I haven't voted for years because the (nominally, they wont allow anti-abortion private member's bills to the floor of the House for a vote) Conservative Party bills itself as Pro-Life, but any members are Cafeteria Catholics that complete ignore binding teachings in The Compendium of Social Teachings of the Church. And all parties are also Pro-LFBTQ2 rights, even as they encroach on religious liberty and Catholic educations.

In the centre the Liberal Party and the left New Democratic Party are both Pro-Choice (though the Liberals have Pro-Life MPs, if the speak publically of their beliefs they are booted from the party) even though they follow much, much more closely the Church's social teachings, so Catholic leaders like PM Trudeau are also totally unacceptable, also Cafeteria Catholics who pick and choose just like the Conservatives.

So what is a Catholic voter to do when all of the parties policies fly in the face of teachings binding on me if I want to stay in the shade of the saving grace of the Church?

I so wish North America had Christian Democratic parties like in Europe, particularly the ruling party in the German state of Bayern, the Christian Social Union, who seem from their platform and governance to really follow every the teaching of the Church rather than picking and choosing like all of the major N. Anerican parties do in their policies and legislation.

Even as a totally fringe party (I can't imagine a party that followed all Catholic teachings properly would be anything but a suspiciously viewed fringe party with no hope of any electoral success), just having a party I could vote for in good conscience, would feel so wonderful. For now though I just can't live with myself voting for any of the 3 big parties, with every one of their platforms being wholly incompatible with my faith on points that aren't up for discussion or negotiation. It sucks.

    ReplyDelete
  30. As an aside, my oma voted for the Nazis out of fear of the other side. Communism for a real threat, with street battles and Bayern even had a Soviet government for awhile after the Great War, and that big push (that failed through Our Lady's intervention it's believed) the CCCP made in the 20s when Trotsky had plans for taking all of Western Europe after brushing aside the Polish Armed Forces.

People in Germsny were terrified from what they knew happened under the Communusts, especially all Catholic clergy shot out of hand. She thought nothing could possibly be worse than the Communists... she made the big mistake of listening too much to what a political party said instead of paying more attention to their actions.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Good to have you join us here Mick! Yes, the mixture of politics and religion is all too often a volatile brew. Strict adherence to the Catholic faith should always be placed over ones political persuasion. Unfortunately, this can happen on the right as well as the left, and political figures on both sides of the divide exploit religion to suit their own agenda. It's important to find a balanced medium which doesn't allow politics to encroach on the religious sphere.

  32. Jason, I feel your pain. I went through something similar in the 1980s. I had been raised a Democrat, back when the left-wingers now running the show were just college students disrupting things on campuses across the country over the Viet Nam War. The Democratic Party of that time was still the "workingman's party," and the Republican Party was all the big businessmen. Then the 1980s came around, and suddenly the Democratic Party had been taken over by those former hippies. I could no longer vote for them in good conscience. But considering the fact that the Republicans, in the past, had been responsible for labor practices that oppressed the workmen, I felt I couldn't vote for them either. It took nearly 20 years before I was able to make a firm choice and register to vote again.
    .
It's a legitimate Church teaching that, in a situation where all choices are evil, it is licit to choose the least evil. That's what voting in the US has become. I can't begin to imagine a situation where none of the evils is less than the others; yet I have to ponder it, because I know full well that's where the US is heading. We all need to think seriously about that situation, because every nation in the world will be facing it. Things are going to get a lot worse before the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart ushers in the Second Pentecost. May God protect us.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Thanks Emmett,as we know, history is littered with all sorts of persuasions that have prayed on people's religious beliefs for their own ends.
It is a fact Jason, that communism was a real threat in the 30's,and at that point,Christians weren't to know where the Nazi's were leading them,hind-site is a marvellous thing.Of course, the church in Croatia was criticised for it's support for German occupation, but subsequent events proved it's fear of communist repression were realized.
It's difficult in countries where there's only 2 or 3 parties to choose from,in my humble opinion,I'd say parliamentary democracy, with proportional representation is best,as in Ireland and a number of continental European countries.Forming governments can be drawn out but everyone's vote counts. Our ideal Catholic party may not be the biggest, but there's always the chance their 'conditional' support will be needed, and in any case, they'll have a voice.
The Holy Spirit can work through democracy, which is the best process we've come up with, when it comes to who shepherds Gods Church however,I prefer to hand that over to Him completely..

  34. Several years ago, all the bishops of Lebanon consecrated that country to Our Lady. Not long after that, it dropped out of media reports of terrorist incidents in the Middle East. Occasionally you still hear of problems there; there's been no miraculous protection such as Portugal experienced during World War II, but it seems their troubles were subsequently nowhere near as bad as they had been before. I can't speak about present times there, though, since I totally stopped following the news about five or six years ago, except for sites like Crisis Magazine, Padre Peregrino, Father Z's blog, US Grace Force, etc.

It seems that these wonderful globalists especially the very caring ones such as Soros and Gates and Bezos etc see the Covid 19 pandemic as a great "Historical opportunity" for the world to reset. They say that all countries must participate in this great reset to create a more greener and inclusive and more equal world. And incidentally Bill Gates wants to reduce the world population by 2 billion. I wonder how this is going to be achieved? Some ideas they are talking about is the creation of the a universal basic income for everyone and also the ending of all private property by 2030.

The conclusion of today's gospel reading seems apt here:

Then it will be their turn to ask, “Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty, a stranger or naked, sick or in prison, and did not come to your help?” Then he will answer, “I tell you solemnly, in so far as you neglected to do this to one of the least of these, you neglected to do it to me.”

  38. The Great Reset is all about establishing worldwide Communism. Basic income for everyone? Check...Except for the likes of Gates, Soros, etc. The middle class will be eliminated; that's why the plandemic (No, that's not a typo) lockdowns shuttered small businesses. All that's left is the megacorps. Covid is just the excuse to keep most of the population under control. Population reduction is for one reason, and one reason ONLY: Fewer people are easier to control. It's all about control.

It does have an inherent contradiction in it though but so has national socialism but that didn't stop national socialism spreading like a plague. And Klaus Schwab he definitely reminds me of somebody i think the person was Austrian and had a small moustache on his top lip. 41. If Nov. 18th 2020, the 100th anniversary of the legalization of abortion in the USSR, was the end of the 100 years that satan was unleashed, then perhaps all of the evil that is coming to light with the election lawsuits is a sign that the devil is being bound again and Trump will get a second term and we may get a respite, a period of peace, before the Antichrist arrives. Your thoughts, anybody?

    ReplyDelete
  42. I agree. Eventually, the godless will win, they'll get their "Great Reset," and will welcome the Antichrist with open arms, but that time is not yet. The Triumph of the Immaculate Heart, and the "Second Pentecost" it will usher in, has to happen first, during which we will see the restoration of the Church. Some believe that that Triumph will be preceded by a war worse than any in the history of the world. None of that has happened yet, though it is believed
    .
This little bit of news I just read about a few minutes ago may also point to that respite: One of the US courts just ruled that Texas and Louisiana are allowed to go ahead with their plan to defund Planned Parenthood.

  46. Have you heard of the great conjunction taking place on December 21st?
Basically, Jupiter and Saturn will be visible like a double star, being very close.

The same phenomenen happened in -7 B.C., which some speculate could have been the Star of Bethlehem. Now guess when it happened last? In the year 2000, which Emmett has pointed out is eschatologically important.

On December 16th, we will see a crescent moon directly below the two planets. On December 17th, moon, Jupiter and Saturn will be visible in a straight line.

The phenomenon lasts until Christmas, December 25th.
The last time it was equally spectactular was back in 1226! Which for sure is a long time ago, but what happened that year? Louis IX was made King of France, as far as I know the only French monarch who has been canonised. So could this be related to the Great Monarch?

Wikipedia also lists: 'The Catholic Church practice of eucharistic adoration among lay people formally begins in Avignon, Provence.'
'The Carmelite Order is approved by Pope Honorius III.'
    St. Francis died.

I've just found out that when it appeared in 1226, it was Ash Wednesday (March 4th), which could be a coincidence of course, or maybe just related to that year.
But definitely, I am looking forward to seeing the Star of Bethlehem just before Christmas this year ... and I bet it has some meaning. We'll see.

Mark W., I remember you are really good with astronomy, do you know whether the peculiar intersection if the paths of both eclipses intersecting so is a normal characteristic or something much more rare?"

I don't know of a way to validate that, Jason. I don't have a database big enough to tell, and I doubt my computer would be up to the arithmetic. I'm sure it could be done, but I don't have the capacity.

I know some people in the intel community, and in the military. If what I'm hearing is only half true, then the actions in Frankfurt after the election could easily be the first shots of a kinetic war. One source even says that some Chinese intel operatives were captured there, but no one knows for certain. What happened in Frankfurt and during the election could easily be seen as an act of war against the United States. We're on a knife's edge. I don't know how it's going to play out, but I have made sure that my old uniform still fits, even after 20 years.

And Jason - I've seen some CIA claims that they did the same thing to you. Trudeau didn't actually win. The CIA ensured his victory.

It is a work which makes one grow in the knowledge and love of the Lord Jesus and of His Holy Mother... I hold that the work demands a supernatural origin.” (Blessed Gabriel Allegra, O.F.M., a saintly missionary, world-renowned theologian, and the only beatified biblical scholar of the 20th century) “Publish it just as it is. There is no need to give an opinion as to whether it is of supernatural origin. Those who read it will understand.” (Pope Pius XII on February 26, 1948, to Frs. Berti, Migliorini, and Cecchin, after reviewing Valtorta’s work) “I don’t advise you to [read Maria Valtorta’s books] – I order you to!” (Saint Padre Pio’s answer to a long-time spiritual daughter of his, Mrs. Elisa Lucchi, in 1967, when she asked him in Confession, “Father, I have heard mention of Maria Valtorta’s books. Do you advise me to read them?”) “Maria Valtorta is one of the eighteen greatest mystics of all time.” (Fr. Gabriel Roschini, O.S.M., world-renowned Mariologist, decorated professor at the Marianum Pontifical Faculty of Theology in Rome, Consultor of the Holy Office, wrote over 130 traditional/orthodox books about Our Lady) “There are hundreds of topographical names and details and of descriptions of places…which only the latest research and archaeological excavations have brought to light. Maria Valtorta’s Work is, in truth, inexplicable by merely human means.” (Antonio Socci, Leading Journalist & TV Show Host) "When His Holiness Pope Paul VI was Archbishop of Milan, he read one of the books of The Poem of the Man-God. He told me how he appreciated it, and had me send the complete work to the Library of the diocesan Seminary.” (Msgr. Pasquale Macchi, Private Secretary of Pope Paul VI, in an hour-long interview with Fr. Corrado M. Berti, O.S.M., in 1963) Preface About five years ago, after reading and hearing some of the all-too-common misinformation and falsehoods about Maria Valtorta and her writings, I was convinced it was a false private revelation and I energetically began researching it and compiling information into an organized report to give to someone close to me to try to prove to them that Maria Valtorta’s writings were a false private revelation, forbidden by the Church, and should not be read. However, upon investigating Maria Valtorta and her writings in depth, and considering all the arguments both for and against it with a discerning, but open mind, I discovered my initial viewpoint was wrong, and I discovered that the evidence shows that her writings are not only free of error in faith and morals, and approved by a tremendous number of high-ranking, very learned, and trustworthy Church authorities, but that her writings are extraordinarily beneficial for souls and unlike any other book ever written. In my research, I was amazed at the massive amount of extraordinary proofs of the divine origin of her writings, proofs which rival the proofs of the greatest approved private revelations of the Church and put to shame the hundreds of false private revelations circulating around the world today. I began to realize that her writings are the most accurate, detailed, comprehensive, and powerful revelation about Jesus and Mary’s lives ever given to mankind. These writings have transformed my life. The tremendous impact these writings have had on multitudes of priests, religious, and lay faithful around the world is extraordinary.

I wrote this e-book for everybody with clarity and ease of reading so that beginners in the Catholic Faith as well as seasoned scholars will understand it and can benefit from it. I wrote it for the young and old, for the learned and unlearned, for both religious and lay faithful, for practicing Catholics and for lapsed Catholics, for the devout and the undevout, and for Catholics as well as those non-Catholics who want the truth and who are thirsting for God. 67. This goes into astrology perhaps rather than astronomy, though just as a point of interest, the last time a conjunction between Jupiter and Saturn that was far enough from the sun to be visible was way back in 1226 (the conjunction had been traced previously back to the last decade BC so has been associated traditionally as a possible candidate with the Star of Bethlehem). It happens that 1226 was a momentous year for the Church.

King Louis VII of France began the crusade against the heretic Cathars/Albigensians in southern France that practiced a highly perverted form of Arian Christianity as brought to the region by the Visigoths long before (from whom the now deposed-Merovingian Dynasty derived). This was a very big deal, with Catharism and other dualistic Gnostic forms of "Christianity" were flourishing and was even spreading a renewed Arian heresy throughout Europe. Though the history books look on this as utter brutality (which maybe it was, it was from the commander of the crusade who coined that infamous phrase still used, "Kill all of them, for God will know His own").

The other things that would be huge all on their own were the King of Portugal launching a war to re-take lands long held in Moorish hands on the Iberian Peninsula, Eucharistic Adoration being approved and encouraged for lay people for the very first time, the Teutonic Order were granted rights to all the lands in their conversion/conquest of pagan-occupied Prussia from the Holy Roman Emperor Frederick II, the Carmelite Order was given its first charter, and lastly all of Christendom mourned the death of St. Francis of Assisi. Any one of these would signal a big change in the Christian world, but all in one year seems more than a matter of coincidence.

It makes me wonder; I know of course astrology is forbidden, yet the Zoroastrian Magi watched the heavens for signs of God's will and the current state of the world. With the epidemic, the global economy in a shambles, and for England, this year could be one of almost unprecedented suffering for the people there, with exports set to drop as quickly as the value of the pound sterling, and the cost of imports skyrocketing, particularly in food prices which is a bigger burden on those less well off. I noticed that a re-dedication of Mary as holding England as Her dowry took place just around the time multiple crises seemed to converge on that country in particular.

If the Jupiter-Saturn conjunction (with the closest appearance of them occurring exactly on the solstice, which seems like a big coincidence, too) is part of some celestial mechanics set by God at the Creation that, judging by past history, was designed to grab our attention or a portent of very significant and positive changes for the Church in Europe, I could see the coming extremely likely deprivations in England as a catalyst perhaps, with nations often suffering in history before turning back to God, just as with the Israelites when they strayed in the OT. Or it could just be a cool thing to find in the night sky the next few days. I shouldn't even think it, but with the death of his namesake St. Francis, when I read the history of the Jupiter-Saturn conjunction I couldn't help but wonder if Pope Francis could, and this is just pure wild speculation, possibly pass away this year. from whatever cause? Random thoughts I know.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I don't know about Pope Francis passing away this year (only God would know that, after all), but there is a rumor that he may retire soon. I found a vid about that at Return to Tradition; just go to the link that Anon recommended above for a video about St. Joseph, a saint for the end of days; at the website, you'll find a link to the video about Pops Francis' possible retirement immediately under the one about St. Joseph. Like the narrator, I have my doubts about the veracity of this rumor.
    .
As for the Jupiter-Saturn conjunction, there are many, many theories among astronomers about celestial phenomena that might account for the Christmas Star, but how do they explain one that moved enough to guide those Magi directly to the Christ Child? After all, Scripture itself says that the star "came to rest;" that implies significant motion for a celestial object. Perhaps the old catechisms are correct in simply referring to it as a "miraculous star."
    .
My own personal theory comes from something that I was taught in my own pre-conciliar catechism classes. Every mythology from every culture, extinct ones as well as present ones, contains elements that line up exactly with the prophecies concerning the Redeemer. Given that the very first prophecy of the Redeemer was given to Adam and Eve immediately after their fall, what we have here is the truth having been corrupted over time as it passed by word of mouth from one generation to the next. From that I got the idea that perhaps the Magi were men who studied not only the stars, but prophecies as well. Scripture tells us they "saw His star rising in the east;" that means they were watching for it. In that case, there was probably a prophecy about such a star in one culture or another, for them to be aware of it, and, again, it had to be moving visibly for them to be able to follow it. I don't know of any celestial phenomenon the has ever done that, barring meteors, and they're TOO fast! ;D

  69. That's a fascinatingly insightful reply, my thanks JMC.

I took a 3-hr once-a-week night class in comparative religions not so much out of curiousity, though I am interested in most things, generally loving to learn for its own sake, but it seems one of my gifts might be in aiding conversations on some way, particularly from atheism. I have many Muslim and Hindu friends just as a consequence of the good Commonwealth relations allowing a lot of immigration from S. Asia.

Yet as I got further into the class, using Frazer's "The Golden Bough" as a reference guide and starting point, it did test my faith, and that made me dif into things deeper than just for purposes of aiding with future proselytizing.

It was the 1st taste for me of the richness of a faith well-tested, the confidence that gives, and much larger base of knowledge (which I guess does help with evangelizing as well).

But one thing that niggles and naggles at me is, now was, though more directly related to the heresies of the Manicheans, followers of Arian, Gnostics, Cathars, all the deeply flawed dualist heresies that never seem to go completely away, just rise and fall slowly, the Zoroastrian religion, which still is practised in a few small ethic groups like Freddie Mercury's religion, it shares undeniably and strongly certain elements of Christianity to not be something that God planned to have happened, but it did also bolster the main argument of atheists in the class, that man made God in their own image rather than the other way around, saying, see here, one telling characteristic of religions evolving over time into newer ones, (right back to the first sun-worshippers that sacrificed their king during times of drought and famine, so their argument went). That we see all religions are like all musicians in that they all draw on older influences.

But your explanation made perfect sense! I don't want to overstate by saying my faith was in any doubt, but this has made a significant impact on me for the food, so thank you once again JMC.

If you might find this of interest, I spoke about this with an old friend of mine, also a priest, and luckily it's something that there's a general consensus on, that God reveals His most significant of truths not quite incrementally, perhaps more like chumming the waters, letting some original truths before the Tower of Babel survive on. He added that there is a clear line from Aristotle to the Zoroastrians, to Aquinas in sharing closely a way of seeing the world, and more even than that, an almost exact moral code of conduct.

They all looked on what was the right way to treat others very similarly, but it seems so clear now, that idea of preparation to receive Jesus hardcoded into Advent and Lent corresponds so well with the reason why some deep truths found and innovated outside of Christian religion, ones pre-dating Christianity I mean, were there, seeds planted timed that their fruit would be ready for harvest all converging on the day of the Lord's birth. Though its certainly dramatic, the story of the 3 Magi never seemed as essential to me even with their gifts foreshadows of how Jesus would die, but thinking about what you wrote JMC, I can see why it was so prominent in the story of the Nativity, maybe summing this all up in a real occurence that can be thought of as an allegory as well.

Merry Christmas to you as well!

I recommend that you download this PDF to read it rather than trying to use Gloria.TV's online reading system.

Note: The chapters and sub-chapters in the Table of Contents in this PDF e-book are hyperlinked. Therefore, you can click on any chapter or sub-chapter in the Table of Contents and it will jump you directly to that chapter or sub-chapter in the e-book.

This e-book is a summa and encyclopedia and so does not need to be read in order or from front to back. Each chapter and sub-chapter is designed so that you can understand things just fine within that chapter without having to read other chapters first.

Just check out those sections that interest you. One person may only be interested in the section on the position of the Pope’s and the Holy Office/CDF on Maria Valtorta's writings and what prominent clerics have said about it. Another person may only want to read the sections on the claims of proof of the divine origin of her writings. Another person may only want to look at the arguments for and against Maria Valtorta’s writings. Another person may only want to look into the additional resources (atlases, indexes, travel summaries, chapter summaries, etc.) available for use with her work, and that can easily be done. Just read those chapters that you wish.

This e-book is the result of hundreds of hours of research over 2 years, utilizing almost every Internet and printed source available on Maria Valtorta in the English language, and utilizing many primary sources in her native Italian language.

  75. I'm sure there's a great deal of truth in Valtorta's writings, but the very fact that the Vatican actually condemned them means that there's error in there, too. Reading them could eventually lead you away from the faith. The faith is not about feelings; it's about an act of the will, and that act will can often even be contrary to your feelings. This is because, as fallen creatures, our feelings are unreliable. Please be careful.

    ReplyDelete
  76. I'd respectfully (as I can at least given the gravest nature) implore anyone to please, please, stay clear of these books. They are banned for a very, very good reason.

I can completely understand how people want to feel closer to Christ, to know Him more intimately, can be seduced by writings just like this (that to me read like really bad serialized religious-based fan-fiction, but the modern "feel" itself is an enticement, along with the long John Steinbeck-like flowery descriptions of surroundings, all those trappings of modern literature that perhaps feel more comfortable to read)... it happened to my own mom to the point that she placed more weight on these books than on the Gospels (!), and it was a progressive process, so seduction is just the right word... it happened over years, and it damaged her faith.

We already have and know the way to know Jesus ever better, through prayer, the sacraments, the writing of saints and approved apparitions, and through each other together as the Church Militant.

I'm perpetually guilty of always wanting to know more (hence why I love Emmett's work)... but through forbidden texts? How is that in *any* way different than the Gnostics and their forbidden "secret" Gospel-substitutes? Really, where is the difference? This is not a rhetorical question.

I always had a bad feeling about these books before even knowing they are banned to all Catholics, literally just being around them made me nauseated every single time. I avoided the room they were in in my childhood home like the plague (and, yes, they are
*forbidden*, as has been confirmed time and again!! There is zero ambiguity on that).

From just reading the first one to placate me mom, just one of the things that made it to me so obvious that this was a work of imagination and pure fiction (and maybe something much less innoculous than that, even sinister) was the almost endlessly long-winded, wordy monologues and expositions chock full of these sort of generic and weak platitudes she wrote that Jesus spoke... No, no, no, Our Lord and Our Lady both are so completely out of character so-to-speak, very substantively, from how we know them from the NT and DofF, that alone was enougb for me to never touch one of the volumes again until my mother passed, and they all went straight to the fireplace. And my gut feeling felt confirmed when many years later I found out the history of these novels.

I truly don't mean to hurt anyone's feelings, but sometimes maybe one shouldn't hold back in matters where someone's faith amd spirit could be very warped and damaged, and worse still, leading others into deception ... these books just aren't authentic, they are extremely spiritually dangerous as they corrupt who God is, our understanding of His personality itself, adding things that just dont jive with scripture or Church teachings, His relationship with Judas, and so many other problematic things.

Our Lord taught things simply, often in parables precisely to make His message available to all, not as if giving a long lecture in a 1st year course at Divinity College, beyond the simplest fact that if you dare read them you are absolutely & positively rejecting the teaching authority of the Magisterium. Is any amount of curiousity really worth that, really worth it?

  79. Jason, thank you for that description. Until someone mentioned Valtorta right here, I'd never heard of her or her writings, so it's nice to hear someone who's read them and found them lacking, to balance the pro-Valtorta stuff. Anything that has you rely so heavily on your feelings is suspect. As I said before, because we are fallen, our feelings are unreliable. The act of will that Our Lord wants from us is often diametrically opposed to our feelings. I think that's what the line in the Harry Potter books refers to when Dumbledore says we must do what is *right,* rather than what is *easy.*

If you did you would know that they are supernatural. Yes the Vatican actually condemned them.
But so was Faustina and now she is a saint. And I have read her dairy. Again if you have not read the documents about Valtorta writings you don't know the truth. Also you will find out that many bishops and Popes have approved of them.

    ReplyDelete
  81. The Vatican never actually condemned St. Faustina's diary in the original Polish; it was the first translation that was rejected, because it was poorly done and left many of her points unclear or ambiguous. It wasn't until the early 1980s that they finally got a good translation, and that's when it was given the imprimatur.
    .
I will admit that there is an outside possibility that at some point in the future Valtorta's writings will be approved. But until and unless that happens, in holy obedience to the authority of the Church, we are obliged to avoid them.

  85. You're most welcome JMC, & I'm glad my personal exp. could help (though I guess that too is based on a lot of fallible emotion).

Charles, in charity, they simply aren't ok to read. Look at the letters archived at EWTN's website that make this fully unambiguous. This is a good e.g. why verbal 3rd party hearsay holds no water in courts or otherwise (and, yes, even, Servite priests lie, too, even in groups of three, and when they have much very much skin in the game in doing so for a purpose). Verbal papal recognition isn't a thing... like in business, if it isn't down on paper, it means nothing because people lie in furtherance of agendas all the time.

I've burned bridges with my argumentative nature and I'm trapped in the sin of sloth almost completely in my life, so I'm not at all thinking I'm writing from a position of any moral authority, true me.

But I'd be remiss in my responsibility as a Catholic if...from high school Catholic Ethics class I remember the difference in gravity vis-a-vis mortal sin between private sins vs. public sins.

A sin in private e.g. reading forbidden writings, whether that sin is a mortal one takes into consideration emotional states, understanding of the seriousness of a disobedience, etc., but when taken into the public sphere of our faith, with disobedience those ambiguities vanish, and we're held to a higher standard, like the difference, say, between premarital sexual relations and living together outside of marriage. The sin that is public can lead others astray, and that's something we all need to be cautious about, esp. if evangelizing and promoting a clearly, inarguably forbidden work. Without the teaching authority, the whole structure of the Chyrch is only a house of cards, so we have to cling to that even when our hearts tell us we know better.

Please pardon any acidic tone I've used. I don't at all mean to make you feel unwelcome (really, welcome!), but I can't keep quiet... this us a serious issue. When finding oneself hair-splitting over promoting a work vs. promoting essays promoting a work, that legalism, should not that tell you that you're trying to hedge your bets, and the implications that follow? We all are just muddling through and trying to do our best to follow Gods law and will, amd help others so dont think I dou t your intentions are anything but good and pure, but we need the guidance of the CDF or we become as if ships lost at sea... the further into the fog, the harder to find our way out again. God bless.

    ReplyDelete
  86. I am not promoting essays. The documents that I asked you to read are research documents from very many different authorities. And also from Catholic Bishops. And some documents very detailed and very long, one is 1300 pages long. So if really want to know the truth you should read them. Even the Blessed Mother Mary said it was ok to read them to the visionaries at Med. Sorry I can't spell the name of the country. May God bless and grant you peace and keep you safe.

  87. Thank you so very much Charles for being polite and civil even though I think it's time to agree to disagree on this, your pleasant demeanor and not getting angry is a real breath of fresh air when that seems on short supply in the world (particularly right now). Please don't think it isn't very much appreciated!!

As to Our Lady allegedly directing Catholics to ignore the teaching authority of the Church, the CDF specifically... to me, that doesn't
fit the character of Our Lady from the Gospels & writings of saints and doctors of the Church (like "Imitation of Mary"). Her Fiat was the *ultimate* obedience to God & as first member of the Catholic Church, a perfect model for us to aim for... so disobedience being directed by Our Lady? Hmmm.

To me that speaks pretty directly as to authenticy, but that whole
topic has been beaten like a rented mule here several times before, So I dont want to pick at the scab haha. My intention isn't to stir up that particular pot, other than wondering aloud if an alleged apparition trumps what is visible and apparent in written judgments... it seems to me what is visible, apparent, manifest vs. secret, forbidden & speculatory. I've a tendency, maybe bad, of a doubting St. Thomas, I'm persuaded by what is visible, but hearsay, not rumour, not a handful of bishops standing in opposition to crystal clear and unambiguous teaching authority in action, or a few priests saying this pope or that gave some verbal approval of this vision or that book (which, so conveniently, are always only claimed after the subject passes away so can neither verify or deny to set the record straight...that is suspect and more than suspicious to ne).

This article is from 1994 but the information and opinion are still very relevant I think. I dont exodft you to read it Charles; I think you might be offended, But I'd feel remiss if I didn't share for anyone on the fence about these novels and looking for an expert opinion:

    https://www.ewtn.com/catholicism/library/is-the-poem-of-the-mangod-simply-a-bad-novel-12470

Thanks once more for being so kind and loving to one with a different opinion. You've inspired me to start gut-checking my own tone in polite agreememts much more. Last night my c8ndcuence spoke about during this past summer I posted something that in hindsight was, to my shame, incredibly and obviously rude to Mark W., someone who had taken a lot of time to help me with incrediblly helpful and practical advice in my personal life. I feel a contrition that, well, Mark if you might read thus, I'm sorry brother, and I'm talking on my sword, no excuses; I'm so sorry for being a jerk to you when you've never been anything but helpful, and ask forgiveness even if just inside you. I want to make amends somehow but don't know how but my apology I hope is a good start.

  88. While discerning the authenticity of alleged Marian apparitions, visions, prophecies and private revelations, which are proliferating throughout the world right now, it is worth bearing in mind that according to Marie Julie Jahenny: "During the time of the approach of the punishments announced at La Salette, an unlimited amount of false revelations will arise from hell like a swarm of flies; a last attempt of Satan to choke and destroy the belief in the true revelations by false ones." I'd humbly suggest that we spend more of our precious time here on Earth learning more about and living the message of Fatima or reading the Diary of St. Faustina rather than exploring documents related to apparitions and revelations that have not received official ecclesiastical approval.

    ReplyDelete
  89. I agree. Stick to the approved apparitions and leave the rest alone. I certainly agree with Jason that it is extremely out of character for the BVM to tell us to ignore the magisterium. That is not advice the most humble, most obedient Queen of Heaven would give us. What we should be ignoring is any apparition that does not have ecclesial approval. Anything else is spiritual suicide.

  92. Poem of the Man-God Research Document

A comprehensive and well-researched guide to everything a Catholic needs to know about Maria Valtorta’s The Poem of the Man-God: its importance, its history, its ecclesiastical status, how it compares to other revelations, the claims of proofs of its divine origin, and its critics and defenses
    By Michael James
After the Holy Bible and the most sacred perennial books of the Catholic Faith (the Summa Theologica, etc.), there is perhaps no greater book that exists in the world today than the Poem of the Man-God, and I think it is truly impossible for any person of good will to not only highly benefit from reading it; but I would go so far as to say that any person of good will who reads it will almost certainly have his life changed profoundly in some way.
“I assure you that the Poem of the Man-God immensely surpasses whatever descriptions — I do not say of mine, because I do not know how to write — but of any other writer... It is a work which makes one grow in the knowledge and love of the Lord Jesus and of His Holy Mother... I hold that the work demands a supernatural origin.” (Blessed Gabriel M. Allegra, O.F.M., a very holy missionary, world-renowned theologian, & the only beatified biblical scholar of the 20th century)
“Publish it just as it is. There is no need to give an opinion as to whether it is of supernatural origin. Who reads it will understand.” (Pope Pius XII on February 26, 1948 to Frs. Berti, Migliorini, and Cecchin, after reviewing the Poem of the Man-God for a year).
“I don’t advise you to [read Maria Valtorta’s books] – I order you to!” (Saint Padre Pio’s answer to a long-time spiritual daughter of his, Mrs. Elisa Lucchi, in 1967, when she asked him in Confession, “Father, I have heard mention of Maria Valtorta’s books. Do you advise me to read them?”)
“Maria Valtorta is one of the eighteen greatest mystics of all time.” (Fr. Gabriel Roschini, O.S.M., world-renowned Mariologist, decorated professor at the Marianum Pontifical Faculty of Theology in Rome, Consultor of the Holy Office, wrote over 130 traditional/orthodox books about Our Lady)
“The dancing sun seen by 70,000 at Fatima is nothing compared to the evidence of the divine hand in this revelation.” (David Webster) [This evidence includes both scientific evidence & many other forms of evidence, all of which are expounded upon thoroughly in this research document]
"When His Holiness Pope Paul VI was Archbishop of Milan, he read one of the books of The Poem of the Man-God. He told me how he appreciated it, and had me send the complete work to the Library of the diocesan Seminary.” (Msgr. Pasquale Macchi, Private Secretary of Pope Paul VI, in an hour long interview with Fr. Corrado M. Berti, O.S.M. in 1963)
“Extinguish not the Spirit. Despise not prophecies; but test all things, and hold fast that which is good.” (The Great Apostle St. Paul to the Thessalonians, 1 Thessalonians 5: 19-21)

    INTRODUCTION TO MARIA VALTORTA
The Maria Valtorta Research Centre, Fireworks, Sunrise of Truth Encyclopedia. Vol. 1. Kolbe's Publications: Louvain, 1996.
    Sunrise of Truth: Introduction
After a long night of groping around, mankind had its first Sunrise of Truth when the Light of the World gloriously revealed the Truth: "I am the way, and the truth, and the life." (John 14:6.) Truth has been opposed ever since, fiercely and savagely, by the father of lies (John 8:44). But whenever falsehood manages to smother the Truth in bleak desolation, Truth redoubles its efforts to bring about another Sunrise of Truth.
Some of Truth's efforts to force another Sunrise include strong Popes, unflinching Dogmatic

    ReplyDelete
  94. Councils, prayer crusades, and revelations.
Truth has never been miserly with its revelations, be they prophecies, locutions, visions, apparitions, etc. The New Testament speaks of prophecies as an almost common event. Throughout history, Truth gave revelations to hand-picked souls for the good of the many. St. Dominic was told in a revelation how to say the Rosary, which converted many an Albigensian heretic. St. Joan of Arc redirected the history of both France and England. St. Ignatius of Loyola received his Spiritual Exercises by means of a revelation. St. Marguerite Marie Alacoque became the standard-bearer of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. St. Bernadette Soubirous was instrumental in an on-going series of miraculous healings in Lourdes. The three children of Fatima, among other things, were told in 1917 that should Russia not convert in time, there would be another war worse than World War I.
Sure enough: 1939-1945. World War II: possibly the most horrible war to this day. A 1944 document mistook Hitler for the Antichrist, because of his systematic attacks on the Catholic Church everywhere he could - something most people ignore. The Allies were probably just as evil. They called the mass-murderer Stalin a pal and betrayed Eastern Europe into his bloody paws. Despair was everywhere. Hatred ruled the day. The Church was almost silenced. 1943. Truth intervened, in Viareggio, Italy, in a series of much-maligned revelations. Truth always had a hard time revealing itself. Many an Old Testament prophet was assassinated by God's rebellious people. St. John the Baptist was beheaded because he called adultery adultery. Our Lord was contradicted, slandered, mocked, vilified, scourged, crowned with thorns, and crucified. Most Apostles were killed. St. Athanasius was excommunicated (invalidly) by a Pope. The revelations to Maria d'Agreda about three centuries ago were first destroyed at her spiritual director's command, written down again some thirty years later, sharply criticized and condemned, finally reinstated and approved by no less than a few Popes, and yet, they still have detractors to this day.
The revelations of Viareggio, Italy, made to Maria Valtorta, have had a stormy story of their own, even though Pope Pius XII ordered a priest in front of two witnesses during a special audience mentioned in the Osservatore Romano to publish her main Work as is.
Nevertheless, the revelations of Viareggio, Italy, have slowly spread around the world and have changed many lives because people can get to taste and see Jesus' goodness, as He shows the rewards of righteous living and provides spiritual peace and strength, as He calls sin sin and offers powerful forgiveness to the repentant. As the one and only true Church undergoes a time of turmoil, she is awaiting a new Sunrise of Truth. We, at the Maria Valtorta Research Center, are persuaded that all the revelations of Viareggio, not just Maria Valtorta's main revealed Work, will be a major component of the next Sunrise of Truth.
The revelations of Viareggio will be studied from several points of view:
    - from the natural to the supernatural;
    - from the logical to the analogical and the semiological;
    - from the chronological and historical to the eternal;
    - from the kaleidoscopic beauty of God's creation to the inconceivable mysteries of the Triune Divinity;
    - from human free will to divine Free Will;
    - from daily life to our eternal destiny.

  100. Food for thought: you will gain far more spiritual benefits from going to Mass on a regular basis, praying the Rosary and reading the Bible than spending your time reading books related to theologically dubious revelations. It's a much better idea to read about Fatima if you are genuinely interested in mystical visions and revelations... Don't waste your precious time on writings, which have not received ecclesiastical approval. We should be aware that evil forces may have inspired such pseudo-mystical experiences and writings to get us distracted from the Truth... It's simply not worth it and it's not spiritually healthy.

    https://www.countdowntothekingdom.com/is-the-era-of-peace-a-heresy/
mentions that the bishop of Saskatoon has approved of Mallett's book : Mark Mallett’s book The Final Confrontation, which explains the Era of Peace and differentiates it from the old heresy of millenarianism, just received Nihil Obstat from his bishop.[1] https://www.countdowntothekingdom.com/nihil-obstat-granted/

Has this been rescinded of late? Does the bishop's approval bear any weight to its validity?

  102. I'm so both shocked and sickened by this. Bishop Mark's approval of what to me and others seems so clearly a heretical teaching of the eschatological timeline in opposition to the Catechism.

Here on his website he even crows about Emmett, Desmond Birch, and others writing his bishop in vain to protest his spreading of what he clearly lifted whole cloth from certain Pentecostal denominations:

    https://www.markmallett.com/blog/rethinking-the-end-times/

I wrote my Archbishop Don Bolen of Regina, to whom the Diocese of Saskatoon is subordinate, back in the summer, so I can only assume Archbiship Don approves of this stuff as well. And I guess they have the last word, for who else is there to lodge a protest with?

I'm so upset that any bishop or archbishop could grant a Nihil Obstat for something that is so clearly in opposition to how the Church has always taught of the what happens, and in this case more importantly what does not, prior to the Last Judgement.

So much for me convincing my sister that "The Warning" and other similar books which to me are obviously heretical now as it spreads like the pamdemic virus throughout the Separate School (aka Catholic) system's staff rooms in Saskatchewan. Most sadly, I have no doubt there will be teachers spreading this heresy to impressionable students if it has a bishop's seal of approval, and at that age false beliefs become life long ones so very easily. 😥

  103. The nihil obstat means that the diocescan censor has not found any theological errors within the book. It doesn't necessarily mean that there are no errors. There patently is a very egregious error in that it teaches millenarianism. It really just depends on the competence of the appointed censor and the extent of the bishop's knowledge. A nihil obstat is not an Imprimatur either. It seems strange that the bishop has granted just nihil obstat and not Imprimatur.

  104. Perhaps bishops approve of some private revelations on their own and deem it worthy of belief?
Except for you Emmett does anyone else castigate this bishop's approval regarding this belief?

You say this view teaches millenarianism but the bishop disagrees. This approval says there is no doctrinal error found. Maybe the bishop doesn't believe its millenarianism.

  105. Thanks for the reply Emnett, and Sam, CCC676 alone is a disqualifier for this 1,000-year reign nonsense that Mallett and others are championing, which really makes the bishop's decision a head-scratcher for sure. I'm not knocking the Charismatic movement generally at all, Pope St. JPII gave his blessing and encouragement... but ot seems funny how every time Pentecostal teachings and/or practices patently incompatible with Catholic teachings always seem to seep through the cracks exactly through Charismatics like Mallett, along with a spirit of disobedience and invention. No offense intended, just my observation...most Charismatics I know attend Pentecostal services as well (though that's forbidden unless it's for a wedding, funeral, etc., or an official ecumenical event). That rule seemed a but heavy handed to me in the past, but I can understand why now, that opening your ears to b.s. is bound to have some effect whether you intend it to or not.

While anecdotal at best, my observation has been any time someone bends over near-backwards attempting to split as fine a hair as this neo-millenarianism movement does, that betrays a mens rea at least, and actus reus likely because the level of denial in trying to see and argue black is white is almost unfathomable when the bare facts are laid out..

You're right that in this particular work (not the body of all of Mallett's writing and promotion of such as he seems to imply slyly with a general letter of commendation, that could be related to anything), Bishop Mark of Saskatoon either doesn't believe it's the millenarianism heresy, which is perplexing as it embodies every single trait, or else he believes in the heresy himself, which isn't a novel situation by any means.

But it is what it is, the local ordinary has granted the nihil obstat (and as Emmett pointed out not an Imprimatur) so that's the final word, but it's very hard to wrap ones' head around how anyone with a studied background in heresies could *not* identify this on its face as adhering to one. I don't want to suggest personal relationships or a lack of requisite knowledge led to this decision, but again, it's wholly perplexing because this seems such a blatantly obvious case. But that's now on the bishop, whether knowingly approving of heresy, or through lack of due diligence, or ignorance of what the Deposit of Faith has to say about a doctrine shared with LDS, SDA, JWs, Millerite-descended sects in general (guilt by association is fallacious, yes, but when sharing what has always been seen as non-Catholic doctrinal belief, the company you keep can be a measure worth noting I think).

  138. As therefore the darnel weeds are gathered up and burned with fire; so will it be at the end of this age. The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will gather out of his Kingdom all things that cause stumbling, and those who do iniquity, and will cast them into the furnace of fire.
