Sr. Lucia's biography, A Pathway Under the Gaze of Mary, is finally being published in English on 22nd March, 2015 by the World Apostolate of Fatima. This biography is based upon the personal diary of the Seer of Fatima, and contains the details of the vision she witnessed in Tuy, Spain, 1944, when she was commanded by Our Lady to write down the Third Secret. This vision seems to accord with the purported words of St. John Paul II at Fulda in 1980, who when asked about the contents of the Third Secret and why it wasn't being published, he stated that since there was a "message" connected to the Third Secret which described a tsunami which takes the lives of "millions", it was not desirous to have its contents fully revealed to the public:
"Given the seriousness of the contents, my predecessors in the Petrine office diplomatically preferred to postpone publication so as not to encourage the world power of Communism to make certain moves. On the other hand, it should be sufficient for all Christians to know this: if there is a message in which it is written that the oceans will flood whole areas of the earth, and that from one moment to the next millions of people will perish, truly the publication of such a message is no longer something to be so much desired."
We now know that there was at least some element of truth to these words, since the 1944 Tuy apparition was accompanied by a vision of just such an event, in which Sr. Lucia saw an innumerable multitude of people being swept away in a huge deluge, followed by "destructive wars" caused by hatred and ambition:
"I felt my spirit flooded by a light-filled mystery which is God and in Him I saw and heard: the point of the flame-like lance which detaches, touches the axis of the earth and it [the earth] shakes: mountains, cities, towns and villages with their inhabitants are buried. The sea, rivers and clouds leave their bounds, they overflow, flood and drag with them into a whirlpool, houses and people in a number unable to be counted; it is the purification of the world from the sin it is immersed in. Hatred, ambition, cause destructive wars."
The only type of tsunami which would be capable of taking the lives of "millions" is that of a mega-tsunami, which are usually generated by lateral volcanic collapses - such as the threat posed by Cumbre Vieja in the Canary Islands. In my book, I argue that this volcanic eruption will be triggered by the "eschatological earthquake" described in the Bible - which appears to be the exact same event that Sr. Lucia describes as the cause of the tsunami she had witnessed during this vision - which occurs after the angel touches the axis of the earth with his flaming sword. The Apocalypse also tells us that the destruction of "Babylon" will occur as a direct consequence of the eschatological earthquake:
And there were flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder, and a great earthquake such as there had never been since man was on the earth, so great was that earthquake. The great city was split into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell, and God remembered Babylon the great, to make her drain the cup of the wine of the fury of his wrath.
(Rev 16:18-19)
And of course the destruction of Babylon itself is caused by a "huge mountain, burning with fire" being thrown into the sea (Rev 8:8):
Then a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone and threw it into the sea, saying, “So will Babylon the great city be thrown down with violence, and will be found no more"...
(Rev 18:21)
In my book (which was first published in 2011), I proposed that the eschatological earthquake which is prophesied to take place in Jerusalem during the end time, would in fact be the primary cause of this volcanic eruption in the Canary Islands, and in the aftermath of these events, the Antichrist will seize power in Europe (which will most likely under direct control of Russia - which Sr. Lucia foretold would be the instrument of God's chastisement). The exact sequence of events seen by Sr. Lucia in this recently published private revelation can be independently determined from Scripture by combining the details concerning the destruction of Babylon in the Apocalypse with a parallel passage in the Book of Ezekiel - which describes how the eschatological earthquake will cause the collapse of entire mountains, leading to the summoning of a (flaming?) sword against "Gog" during the battle of Armageddon:
For in my jealousy and in my blazing wrath I declare, On that day there shall be a great earthquake in the land of Israel. The fish of the sea and the birds of the heavens and the beasts of the field and all creeping things that creep on the ground, and all the people who are on the face of the earth, shall quake at my presence. And the mountains shall be thrown down, and the cliffs shall fall, and every wall shall tumble to the ground. I will summon a sword against Gog on all my mountains, declares the Lord GOD. Every man's sword will be against his brother.
(Ezek 38:19-21)
So it seems that the greatest earthquake in human history will be quickly followed by the most catastrophic volcanic eruption in human history, leading to the destruction of "Babylon" and subsequent rise to power of the Antichrist - the Beast who emerges from the watery chaos of the sea:
And I saw a beast rising out of the sea, with ten horns and seven heads, with ten diadems on its horns and blasphemous names on its heads. And the beast that I saw was like a leopard; its feet were like a bear's, and its mouth was like a lion's mouth. And to it the dragon gave his power and his throne and great authority.
(Rev 13:1-2)
The following is the relevant material from my book on this subject:
If this earthquake in some way triggered an eruption of Cumbre Vieja, which in turn generated a mega-tsunami, this would explain how the "cities of the nations" would be destroyed by this one event.
Scientists have recently theorized that seismic events of a strong magnitude can lead to wider geological instability around the world, and may even cause a chain reaction that can trigger volcanic eruptions. Volcanic eruptions have followed high magnitude earthquakes in the past, and academics are still debating whether a link can be established between the two. If such a link does exist, then a particularly strong earthquake centred on or near Jerusalem may theoretically trigger a volcanic eruption on the Canary Islands.
The city of Jerusalem lies very close to the seismic fault line of the Jordan Rift Valley, which borders the unstable region between the African and Arabian tectonic plates. The Jordan Rift Valley, which is home to the Dead Sea – the lowest geographical point on dry land, has been particularly active in the past. Some major seismic events in this area have even been recorded in the Bible. The prophets Amos and Zechariah for example, inform us that a major earthquake struck the region of Judah during the reign of Uzziah in the mid-8th century BC (Amos 1:1; Zech 14:5).
But the Apocalypse tells us that the eschatological earthquake that will strike "the great city" (which Zechariah specifically identifies as Jerusalem) will be the greatest such event in human history (Rev 16:18). In order for an event such as this to occur, there would have to be a massive slippage of either the African or Arabian tectonic plates, or a collision between the two. If the African plate shifted as a result of this colossal earthquake, then it could theoretically cause a surge of magmatism in the volcanic hotspot at the other end of the same plate in the Canary Islands. This could then trigger an eruption of Cumbre Vieja which would cause a lateral collapse of its western flank, generating a mega-tsunami that would devastate the eastern shorelines of North and South America. If this brought about the demise of the USA as the world‘s leading superpower, then as we proposed earlier, it would leave a political vacuum that could be exploited by the Antichrist, who will then set about creating the conditions for the battle of Armageddon.

How to you understand Gn 9:15 "...the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh." I'm guessing the word "...all..." is key? Please let us know your thinking on this. And ! thank you for your rational, totally non-hysterical work.
I've often thought of that passage in relation to this and always come up with the same conclusion you have. Although this tsunami may claim the lives of millions it will not be the direct cause of the end of the world. I believe there will be a time of tribulation after this event, including the reign of the Antichrist and final Passover of the Church foreseen in the Third Secret. The world will then be destroyed by fire (during Armageddon) before the general resurrection of the Dead and last judgement.
And the never answered question...
When?
Honestly, I doubt the US economy will last much longer. That may take us down before the natural events have a chance to overtake us.
MarkW
"By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed. By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly...The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare...That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat." (2 Peter 3)
Mark L.
I think we are still some time away from this just yet Mark W, but I expect there will be plenty of other events in between.
That's a good one Mark L! I think it closely parallels Matt 24:36-39
“But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only. For as were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and they were unaware until the flood came and swept them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of Man."
Emmett;
If I may impose to ask you your thinking on the sequence of coming events?

is this stuff in your book?
Think outside the box! The greatest tsunami facing mankind is the acceptance of sin as something good. Find a leader who calls evil, "evil" an d I'll show you a leader that will not have power very long. MILLIONS are losing their lives right here and now. The living dead are all around us now. Three days of darkness? Don't open your door, even to your loved ones? Think spiritually and you'll see the utter destruction facing manking . . . the kind of chastisement that man brings upon himself in his disobedience to God and His Church. Stop thinking "naturally!"
Hi Chris,
Yes a lot of this is covered in my book. I believe that a short period of peace (which is really a period of mass conversions to Catholicism) will precede this chastisement, and that this will be established by the Two Witnesses. The vision seen by Sr. Lucia in 1944, which corresponds with the destruction of Babylon, marks the rise to power of the Antichrist, which I think will most likely consist of a Russian invasion of Europe after the downfall of America, ostensibly for its own "protection" against an Arab uprising from within (rioting in Muslim centres of Europe - e.g Paris and Marsielles according to La Salette), which would potentially be aided by incursions from the Middle East. So the Antichrist will at first appear to be some sort of saviour type figure, who will then betray the Church by handing it over to its enemies to be martyred. The battle of Armageddon will then be triggered by an Islamic invasion of Israel, which will be extremely vulnerable without its chief protector in the West.
Hi Tom! I'm usually open to symbolic interpretations of prophecy, but I'm almost entirely certain that this was a vision of a literal chastisement, corresponding with the destruction of "Babylon" leading to the rise to power of the Antichrist.
Emmett Good stuff as always. Please keep writing articles!! And possibly you'll have a few new ones with the material that will be in Sr. Lucia's new book!
Tom, you're correct - BUT, God will chastise and cleanse and He will do so with natural elements that He has created (and I;m sure, as always, we will also have man made punishments, because of our self centered stupidity and greed for money and power) -- And for anyone who believes in Medjugorje -- our Lady would not come everyday for 35 straight years (which is something you couldn't even make up) and it not be for a very very very serious reason. So, all that Sr Lucia has written in regard to a massive earthquake and tsunami, the likes of which we have never seen, makes perfect sense. And when you look at what Russia is up, the stupidity of our leaders in Washington, Israel and the middle east and mix in ISIS -- its fairly obvious that things are going to get crazy - and then you mix in the amount of sin occurring and as Tom points out, the souls being lost to Hell -- and its clear that the Lord is about to clean house -- which is why our Lady came in Fatima and is coming now in Medjugojre to fulfill all that Fatima began. Let us continue to pray every day.

Hi Emmett,
Have you heard of, or read, "The Book of Destiny", by Rev. Herman Kramer? Father Kramer studied the Apocalypse extensively for over 30yrs, and has given a verse-by-verse interpretation of that entire book.
His explanation for the burning mountain in 8:8-9 is that it is an allegory for "a menacing and plundering world-power ... for Jeremias had employed the same figure (51:25) ... Babylon was called a "burnt mountain". In the history of Christianity, this allegorical figure describes nothing with truer precision than Mohammedanism."
He goes on to say that "the death of a third of the creatures ... would obviously mean the Christians who were coerced to relinquish their holy faith. They died a spiritual death.
He explains the verses cannot be taken literally because it would not be possible.
Thanks,
Jon
Thanks for your encouragement Michael! It is much needed and appreciated!
Hi Jon! Yes Fr. Kramer's book on the Apocalypse was the first I read on this subject, many years ago. A few caveats though. I thought it was deeply anti-semitic, and was troubled by it even upon my initial reading. It may contain some important insights in certain areas, but we have to be aware that this was just his personal speculation on this matter. The same goes for any of my opinions.
As for the ancient Hebrew, the distinction between "burnt" and "burning" isn't so clear in the original text, since there were no vowels in the Semetic languages. The original text of Jeremiah may also be translated as "burning". I don't think this really matters though, as the vast majority of scholars (even atheistic ones) accept that this text refers to a volcanic eruption.
Thanks for the feedback Emmett. Can you list a couple references that support the volcano interpretation?
Jon
Yes Jon, here are some examples below:
The mountains quake before him; the hills melt; the earth heaves before him, the world and all who dwell in it. Who can stand before his indignation? Who can endure the heat of his anger? His wrath is poured out like fire, and the rocks are broken into pieces by him. (Nahum 1:5-6)
God came from Teman, and the Holy One from Mount Paran. Selah. His splendor covered the heavens, and the earth was full of his praise. His brightness was like the light; rays flashed from his hand; and there he veiled his power. Before him went pestilence, and plague followed at his heels.
He stood and measured the earth; he looked and shook the nations; then the eternal mountains were scattered; the everlasting hills sank low. His were the everlasting ways. I saw the tents of Cushan in affliction; the curtains of the land of Midian did tremble. Was your wrath against the rivers, O LORD?
Was your anger against the rivers, or your indignation against the sea, when you rode on your horses, on your chariot of salvation? You stripped the sheath from your bow, calling for many arrows. Selah
You split the earth with rivers. The mountains saw you and writhed; the raging waters swept on; the deep gave forth its voice; it lifted its hands on high...
...You trampled the sea with your horses, the surging of mighty waters.
(Hab 3:3-10; 15)
For behold, the LORD is coming out of his place, and will come down and tread upon the high places of the earth. And the mountains will melt under him, and the valleys will split open, like wax before the fire, like waters poured down a steep place. (Mic 1:3-4)
“For the waves of death encompassed me, the torrents of destruction assailed me; the cords of Sheol entangled me; the snares of death confronted me. “In my distress I called upon the LORD; to my God I called. From his temple he heard my voice, and my cry came to his ears. Then the earth reeled and rocked; the foundations of the heavens trembled and quaked, because he was angry. Smoke went up from his nostrils, and devouring fire from his mouth; glowing coals flamed forth from him. He bowed the heavens and came down; thick darkness was under his feet. He rode on a cherub and flew; he was seen on the wings of the wind. He made darkness around him his canopy, thick clouds, a gathering of water. Out of the brightness before him coals of fire flamed forth. The LORD thundered from heaven, and the Most High uttered his voice. And he sent out arrows and scattered them; lightning, and routed them. Then the channels of the sea were seen; the foundations of the world were laid bare, at the rebuke of the LORD, at the blast of the breath of his nostrils. "He sent from on high, he took me; he drew me out of many waters." (2 Sam 22:5-17)
Fire goes before him and burns up his adversaries all around. His lightnings light up the world; the earth sees and trembles. The mountains melt like wax before the LORD, before the Lord of all the earth. (Psalm 97:3-5)
Then Job answered and said: “Truly I know that it is so: But how can a man be in the right before God? If one wished to contend with him, one could not answer him once in a thousand times. He is wise in heart and mighty in strength —who has hardened himself against him, and succeeded?—he who removes mountains, and they know it not, when he overturns them in his anger, who shakes the earth out of its place, and its pillars tremble; who commands the sun, and it does not rise; who seals up the stars; who alone stretched out the heavens and trampled the waves of the sea; who made the Bear and Orion, the Pleiades and the chambers of the south; (Job 9:1-9)
For a fire will be kindled by my wrath,
one that burns down to the realm of the dead below.
It will devour the earth and its harvests
and set afire the foundations of the mountains.
(Deuteronomy 32.22)
Suddenly, in an instant,
the Lord Almighty will come
with thunder and earthquake and great noise,
with windstorm and tempest and flames of a devouring fire.
(Isaiah 29.6)
Mark L.
Hi Emmett,
“I think we are still some time away from this just yet Mark W, but I expect there will be plenty of other events in between.”
It’s interesting that you say this, Emmett. Let me lay out a couple of things here and get your reaction. By way of full disclosure, I am an American (and a Texan to raise the stakes a bit) and am rather fond of my homeland. I'd prefer just about anything to us getting nuked.
First off, it’s not necessary to nuke the U.S. cripple us. I’ve been following the economic news rather closely since 2008. There’s a fair amount of secular analysis pointing to a currency collapse late 2015 or early 2016. Some are saying that it will wreck the U.S. from within. We are, in very real terms, quite frail from an economic point of view these days. One cycle analyst (can’t recall who) has pointed to late September and early October as the likely time of an economic collapse here in the U.S. I’ve done some Elliott Wave analysis of my own that points to 18,600 for the Dow as the point at which we could face a massive crash in the markets. the Dow at 18,600 could easily be somewhere in late September or early October.
Second, I saw something put out by a Rabbi recently (I think he was a Rabbi) that points to late September. He called it the “shmeta” – the culmination of the 7 year jubilee cycle. It seems that this year is the last of the 49 year cycle (7x 7 years), and is the 70th such cycle since the chosen people entered the Promised Land, and the end of the 40th such cycle since the death of Christ. The 13th of September was mentioned (29th Elul), as was Yom Kippur on September 23rd (10 Tishrei). The Rabbi seems to think that something big is due between these dates.
Lastly, the Shmeta is supposed to culminate in late September as I say above. The last of the Blood Moons for this year is supposed to be on September 28th.
There seem to be a great many things – secular, astronomical and Jewish – that begin to collide in late September and run into October.
How does all this flow with your research?
Pax vobiscum,
MarkW
Hi Mark W,
I believe the Rabbi you mention is messianic Jew Jonathan Cahn. I think this is quite interesting, especially in connection with the end of the blood moon sequence this year. Myself and Joe Russo had just been discussing this in the com box on the previous post. I am wary of being too caught up in exact dates though. But it will still be interesting to see how this pans out. I think Yom Kippur has some significance to the Third Secret of Fatima, since the Day of Atonement is the primary point of reference in the two angels gathering up the blood of the martyrs, and sprinkling it over the holy souls on their way to God.
Why wouldn't the fire be a spiritual one instead of a physical one?
I believe "both/and" ought to be the operative phrase, not "either/or" in regards to spiritual and physical.
I think we've entered into the times of great spiritual testing, and a purging fire is already underway, as spoken of by God ('tried by fire'). Once the spiritual is well under way, the physical manifests what was already a reality in the spiritual realm.
It would be nice to see this use of "both/and" in discussion, not a false dichotomy of "either/or." Jerusalem's physical destruction, foretold by Christ, happened via Rome only after it had "reached a full cup" of spiritual desolation.
I think most, if not all, prophecies likely have these analogues in both realms.
Mark L.
Hey everyone! The last few posts are great.
And I agree -- its bot/and not either/or. Fatima and Medjugojre both point to an obvious spiritual/inner cleansing that will occur (which is always the main point of what God does/wants from us -- to be cleansed and renewed within)
But also, its obvious from the Fatima secrets and the allusions within the "10 secrets of Medjugorje" that there are definitely going to be "physical" things that occur (that of course are always meant by God to help us be cleansed within) -- whether these "physical" events are "of God" (earthquakes, tsunamis, asteroids hitting earth) or whether they're from ourselves ( war, hunger/famine, economic collapse) --God is always trying to call us to Him, in all events, at all times. And unfortunately it usually takes an earth shattering event(s) in our lives to help us wake up from our materialistic/hedonistic sleep and return back to our Father.
Emmett keep writing! Possibly there will be more to cover with the release of Sr. Lucia's book. If you find out how we can obtain a copy, please let us know! Thanks for your writing. We live in an unbelievably exciting and merciful time (but of course a time of great testing, which I believe is about to start in a much more clear way)
Thanks Michael Patrick
Hi Michael Patrick, yeah sure it should be availble at the following link once it is published: http://www.lucia.pt/news/the-biography-of-sister-lucia-in-english:158
I'll update this post to include the link.
Emmett,
I don't know if you saw this but this would make what we talked about even more significant.
I am not a date setter either but could it be?
http://ncronline.org/news/vatican/francis-announces-new-global-jubilee-holy-year-mercy
I've just heard about this myself Joe. Extremely interesting indeed isn't it? Especially in light of the prophecies of St. Faustina:
"Speak to the world about My mercy ... It is a sign for the end times. After it will come the Day of Justice. While there is still time, let them have recourse to the fountain of My mercy. (Diary 848) Before the Day of Justice, I am sending the Day of Mercy. (Diary 1588)
Emmett -- maybe you can write an article in the next month or two (or three) highlighting not only any new information you have gotten on things but also connecting it to how God works through His church to also show signs -- as we have an eclipse on March 20 -- (His signs in the sky) and now the Holy Father declaring a Year of Mercy starting on Dec 8 of this year! CLEAR signs that He is trying to show us that THIS is "the time of Mercy" and as our Lady says often in Medjugorje "this is the time of grace". (she even said this again on Feb 25th).
The last 2 of the 4 blood moons are this year -- Eclipse on March 20 - next blood moon April 4 (Holy Saturday) -- and now the Year of Mercy. SIGNS SIGNS SIGNS!
Let us pray every day that many will begin to see the obviousness of these signs and not wait until they become overwhelming.
I think it's incredible, this announcement of an Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy - incredible! I'm so excited about this, I spent my morning reading about the history of all the various Jubilees, Great Jubilees and Extraordinary Jubilees. It is so, so timely.
It's even personal, for me, as I turn 50 next May and plan to retire on that date, and celebrate my own year of rest, my own Jubilee, during this Extraordinary Jubilee. : )
I hope it will be a year of penance, prayer and indulgence for me, for everyone. Maybe the Lord will even call me to travel to holy sites.
Mark L.
Also it looks as if Passover coincides with Good Friday and Holy Saturday. Plus I read a blood moon happens the night of Holy Saturday. Can't remember where I read this though. There is just so many "coincidences" here to just overlook.
Good point Emmett on the passage in St Faustinas diary. This is very interesting indeed
Thank you, Emmett, I always look forward to your posts!
About the Fr Kramer book, I have it and have read a good bit. But I too am troubled by his anti-Semitism. Also, I think in some places he is reading too much into the text. He does have some good insights but I am cautious about it too.
I am sorry if i place it under this article, but i didnt find a better palce- I want to alk about Babylon The Great ...
Many of you surely know Maria Valtorta - a great Italian mystic who wrote nearly 15000 pages of visions, etc...
Here is a part where she talks about her visions of Babylon The Great
What do you think about that ?
Citation :
But how is it they have never thought that the "Great Babylon" is the whole of Earth?5
I would be a very little and limited Creator-God if I had created only Earth as an inhabited world! With a throb of My Will I have raised up worlds upon worlds from nothing and cast them forth — luminous fine dust — in the immensity of the firmament.
Earth, of which you are all so proud and so fierce, is but one of the bits of fine dust revolving in that infinity, and not the largest. But She is certainly the most corrupt. Lives and [more] lives teem in the millions of worlds that are the joy of your gaze on serene nights.i
Is not Earth perhaps the great Harlot6 who has fornicated with all the powers of the earth and of hell? And the inhabitants of Earth, have they not prostituted themselves: bodies and souls, to triumph also in the earth's day?7
Yes. For it is so. The crimes of Earth have all the names of blasphemy, as has the Beast with whom Earth and Her inhabitants have also allied themselves in order to triumph. The seven sins stand as a horrible ornament on the head of the Beast who transports Earth and the earthly into the pastures of the Evil One. And the ten horns, a metaphorical number, stand to point out the infinite wickedness the Beast accomplishes to obtain, at whatever cost, as much as It wants in Its ferocious lust.
Has not Earth, soaked with the blood of martyrs, been perhaps intoxicated by this holy liqueur which, drunk down with Her sacrilegious mouth, is changed in Her mouth into a potion of accursed drunkenness? The Beast that carries Her: — [Itself] the compendium and synthesis of all the evil wrought from Adam on, just to triumph in the world and in the flesh — draws after It all those who by adoring It will become king for an hour and of an accursed kingdom. You are kings as sons of God, and it is an eternal Kingdom. But you become kings for an hour and of an accursed kingdom when you adore Satan, who cannot give you but an ephemeral triumph, paid for at the price of an eternity of horror.
The Beast — says John — was and is not.8 At the end of the world it will be so. The Beast was, because It really has been; It is not, because I, the Christ, will have conquered and buried It, because It will no longer be necessary then for the triumphs of the world.9
Is not Earth seated upon the waters of Her seas, and has She not made use of these to do harm? What has She not made use of? Peoples, nations, races, borders, interests, food, expansions: She has used all to fornicate and accomplish endless homicides and Iscariot betrayals.10 Her very own sons, nourished by Her with the blood of sin, will accomplish God's vengeance upon Her by destroying Her, destroying themselves, bringing the sum total of their crimes against God and against man to the perfect number demanded by My thundering: 'ENOUGH!'*

Paul,
First, I admire the fact that you actually put your name on your comment as I get tired of the endless anonymous posts who opine about whatever they want and don't even have the courage to print their name.
I've read all the volumes of Maria Valtorta years ago. Perhaps you don't know that they were put on the index of forbidden books, which although it was abolished, still retains it's validity as to the moral law which totally forbids the dilution of faith and morals. See link to copy & paste: http://www.bardstown.com/~brchrys/DnlkEWTN.html
You, of course, are free to believe it. I prefer to submit myself to the guidance of the Church in these matters. For some reason, people who go against what the church proclaims about these matters of private revelation (I'm saying this in general, not to you specifically) may feel that the Church is in error, but they themselves and their opinions could never be.
I read this book not knowing it was on that index and found what I thought was alot of good stuff, but one must truly be discerning about private revelations, which in the end no Catholic is compelled to believe--even those that are proclaimed to be authentic. I personally am drawn to Garabandal, but as there seems to be no definite proclamation as to it's authenticity at this time:
https://www.ewtn.com/expert/answers/garabandal.htm , I'm waiting to see the outcome of it's worthiness to be believed and I reserve my opinion.
In submitting myself to the Church, if if any private revelation is proclaimed to be "worthy of belief", such as Fatima and Lourdes, then I'm personally all for it as I believe what the Church teaches. As far as those who have not yet been judged by the Church, one must be TRULY discerning. I think Emmet does a really good job at explaining these revelations and his scholarly research compliments all he writes in this blog. It's not just his personal opinion. But, for those private revelations that have been condemned, It's just safe to stay away from them imho.
By the way, the links I provide for further research and to substantiate what I'm writing are written by sources at EWTN who employ THEOLOGIANS to answer these questions and I trust their analysis as many practicing Catholics do.
thanks
rose
Hello Rose, I think its good to be cautious about the things you read and take in, but none the less for example the work of Saint Maria Faustina Kowalska was also on the index of forbidden books for 20 years, now she is a Saint...
If I could add here, I'd like to share that I've always been enchanted by different private revelations in my past. While I think it's good to inquire and take good bits, it is extremely dangerous if not careful. I've come to realize lately that if we really understand Scripture and the Church (or be in pursuit at least) nothing can compare to that. It's amazing to pray and go through and learn.
With that said I think it would be wise in obedience to the Church (most Saints have had to experience this in the midst of being convinced of something) put those things that are forbidden, even if it turns out true to treat them as such, forbidden. If we are obedient to the Church many more graces will be poured out on that soul for doing so.
Just my 2 cents.
Looking at other messages; La Sallete, Akita, Fatima and many others, is possible to see that Some celestial body will strike the earth's axle, causing it to quiver, tremble and disturbing every tetonic plate, therefore, causing mountains slides, swelling of the oceans and rivers, steaming up to the clouds from volcanos, tsunamis swelling cities, towns etc. After that wars break up for the possession of the meager resources and the Catholic Church will be even more hated and spoiled of its treasures (by masons?) The pope goes to mountain where there is the big cross to implore God for mercy and the clerics and lay people of Vatican follow him, cross Rome, half in ruins then, they are all killed. After the war, the people left on the planet (many of them), will return to God and rebuilt the Catholic Church, poor but holy. The immaculate heart of Mary will rein and will be peace for a period of time
As part of the third secret of Fatima is that the European continent will loose the faith, except Portugal. A pope will be under the spell of satan. The church will be full of the ones who compromise the faith and will spread a diabolical confusion. When God cleans house, anew Church will arise, Holly and Apostolic and people will truly worship God.
Well there is nowhere said in a valid message - fatima, akita, etc.. that the the pope will be under the spell of satan, but there is a well known book :D where it says :
Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-Jona: because flesh and blood hath not revealed it to thee, but my Father who is in heaven. 18And I say to thee: That thou art Peter; and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. 19And I will give to thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven. And whatsoever thou shalt bind upon earth, it shall be bound also in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose upon earth, it shall be loosed also in heaven.
There will be some apostasy but I would worry more about me being a good christian, than with finding enemies in the Church and trying to accuse priest and bishops ...
