The Apocalyptic Plagues of Egypt

The Crossing of the Red Sea, by Nicolas Poussin, circa1633

In light of the recent publication of the vision of a colossal flood seen by Sr. Lucia when she was asked by the Blessed Virgin Mary to write down the content of the Third Secret of Fatima, I thought it should be worth revisiting the content of an important earlier post on this subject. The natural causes behind the events of the Exodus has once again been brought into focus by the recent screening of Ridley Scott's controversial take on the history behind this event in his Exodus: Gods and Kings, when he depicted the long theorized drainage of the Sea of Reeds (the most accurate translation above the "Red Sea") being caused by a tsunami. While Scott's version of the causes of some of the other plagues of Exodus is seriously flawed, it is worth taking note that its primary inspiration is taken from a quite convincing theory discussed by many leading theologians that these events were actually caused by the most catastrophic volcanic eruption in human history - that of Thera, Santorini, cicra 1500BC. Given the fact that the Apocalypse bases its imagery of the "huge mountain, burning with fire" being thrown into the sea on the events behind the plagues of Exodus, it prompts us to consider the possibility that the destruction of the eschatological empire referred to as "Babylon" will in turn be caused by yet another record-breaking volcanic eruption.

One of the most extraordinary aspects of the Book of Revelation's re-imagining of the story of the Exodus, is that it appears to have been aware that the plagues of Egypt were associated with a "great mountain, burning with fire" being thrown into the sea (Rev 8:8) - millennia before the Santorini/Exodus hypothesis was first postulated in modern biblical scholarship.
The theory that the Thera eruption was the source of the plagues described in the Book of Exodus, was first forwarded by the Egyptologist Hans Goedicke during the early 1980's, and has since become one of the most widely accepted explanations for the events of the Exodus in modern biblical scholarship. The eruption of Santorini, which destroyed the Greek island of Thera between 1600-1500 BC, was one of the largest volcanic eruptions in recorded history. With an estimated value of 7 out of a possible 8 on the Volcanic Explosivity Index (VEI), the Thera eruption brought about the collapse of the Minoan civilisation on the island of Crete, and is thought by many scholars to be the primary inspiration for the myth of Atlantis recounted in Plato's Timaeus and Critias.

Satellite image of the Santorini caldera - the remains of the eruption which devastated Thera in the mid-second millennium BC.

Given that this eruption is dated to roughly the same time period as the Exodus, many biblical scholars and Egyptologists have attempted to establish how this event could have led to the sequence of events described in the Bible. The Book of Exodus tells us that the first plague to strike Egypt was that of the river Nile turning blood red. This phenomenon has been attributed to the rapid growth of an algal bloom (red tide), resulting from either the release of sediments or trapped gases under the Nile by the increased level of seismic activity which often accompanies volcanic eruptions, or by the falling volcanic debris entering the waters of the Delta. The algae which cause red tide thrive in extreme conditions and temperature changes associated with volcanic activity, and quickly deplete oxygen levels whilst producing natural toxins. This kills any marine life in the affected areas - an event which recalls the repercussions of the mountain being cast into the sea in Rev 8:8:

The second angel blew his trumpet, and something like a great mountain, burning with fire, was thrown into the sea, and a third of the sea became blood. A third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed.
(Rev 8:8-9)

Whilst the fish in the Nile would have been suffocated by the algae, large swathes of frogs would have been forced out of the waterways, leading to the second plague of Exodus. The frogs would have quickly died without water, and their rotting bodies along with those of the fish in the river would have attracted swarms of flies and gnats/lice, which would be able to proliferate more freely without their natural predators. This then accounts for the third and fourth plagues, and the disease spread by the increase of flies, mosquitoes, etc would have led to the fifth and sixth plagues - boils appearing on livestock and humans.
The plague of the hail of fire mixed with ice would have been caused by the fall of the volcanic debris that was ejected into the air during the ongoing eruption at Santorini. Volcanic ash and pumice from the Thera eruption has been discovered at several archaeological sites across Egypt, making it certain that the Egyptians would have been badly affected by this cataclysm. And the plague of locusts has been explained as the mass displacement of these creatures around the Aegean by the ash cloud issuing from Santorini, coupled with the rise in humidity, causing them to descend en masse onto northern Egypt. The ash cloud would then also account for the plague of darkness that swept the land for three days.
The deaths of the firstborn during Passover is somewhat more difficult to put down to a scientific explanation, with theories ranging from a poisoning of the food supplies - which the firstborn would have been privileged to above other family members during a period of famine; to ritual human and animal sacrifice.
Although it would be a mistake to divorce the events of the Exodus from the miraculous altogether. From a faith-based perspective, it seems best to view these events as a series of cause and effect natural events interspersed with elements of the miraculous, all of which were governed by an overriding supernatural power.
The parting of the Sea of Reeds has then been attributed to a tsunami caused by the main eruption of Santorini. This main eruption caused a large scale volcanic collapse, which generated a massive tsunami that devastated the Minoan civilisation on the adjacent island of Crete. There is  also some archaeological evidence to suggest that the tsunami generated by this collapse affected the coast of the Eastern Mediterranean. A study published by the Geological Society of America in 2009 extrapolated the following results from the archaeological data:

A sedimentary deposit on the continental shelf off Caesarea Maritima, Israel, is identified, dated, and attributed to tsunami waves produced during the Late Bronze Age (ca. 1630–1550 B.C.E.) eruption of Santorini, Greece. The sheet-like deposit was found as a layer as much as 40 cm thick in four cores collected from 10 to 20 m water depths. Particle-size distribution, planar bedding, shell taphoecoensis, dating (radiocarbon, optically stimulated luminescence, and pottery), and comparison of the horizon to more recent tsunamigenic layers distinguish it from normal storm and typical marine conditions across a wide (>1 km2) lateral area. The presence of this deposit is evidence that tsunami waves from the Santorini eruption radiated throughout the Eastern Mediterranean Sea, affecting the coastal people living there. (See here)

Given that the tsunami waves reached as far as Israel, then it is almost certain that they would also have affected the northern coast of Egypt.

There is a modern consensus amongst Old Testament scholars that the usual identification of the Red Sea as that which was crossed by the Israelites during the Exodus was based on a mistranslation of the Hebrew word Yam Suph. A more accurate rendering of this location is the "Sea of Reeds", which given the physical description this name implies, is thought to be a lake located somewhere in the marsh lands of the Nile Delta, near the Mediterranean coast. It has been theorised that the Israelites arrived at the Sea of Reeds just before the tsunami made landfall. The drawback caused by the the swell of the incoming tsunami wave would have emptied large parts of the lake, allowing the Hebrews to cross. While the Israelites reached safe ground, the pursuing Egyptian charioteers would have then been swept away by a wall of water when the tsunami eventually made landfall.

The only real problem with attributing the plagues of Egypt to the Santorini eruption is in the dating of the events of the Exodus itself. In 1Kings 6:1, the Bible dates the events of the Exodus to 480 years before the construction of the Temple of Solomon - around 1450 BC, which is very close to the most widely accepted dates for the eruption of Thera as at around 1500 BC. But placing an exact date on the Santorini eruption has been notoriously difficult. A recent radiocarbon dating of an olive tree found inside a lava flow which issued from Santorini, places the date much earlier than that originally thought by archaeologists - at around 1600 BC. But in the wake of the fiasco surrounding the skewed dating of the Shroud of Turin due to the apparent cross contamination of radiocarbon samples, the reliability of this method of dating is far from certain, and even many archaeologists have dismissed these results. One accumulated, the uncertainties surrounding the date of the Thera eruption is felt by many to bolster the feasibility that it coincided with the events of the Exodus.
Many modern scholars reject the biblical date given for the events of the Exodus however, as this would place it as taking place during the reign of Pharoh Thutmose III. Since there is no corresponding archaeological evidence or relevant Egyptian records for this regnal period, many biblical scholars have forwarded a later date for the Exodus as having taken place during the reign of Rameses II circa 1260 BC. As an alternative to this late dating, Egyptologist David Rohl recently forwarded a revised Egyptian chronology which would support the biblical date for the Exodus as at around 1450 BC, and in turn meets with an archaeological record which perfectly fits with the events described in the Bible. Rohl's New Chronology theorises that the conventional chronology used by the vast majority of modern Egyptologists has been artificially over extended by around 300 years, placing the events of the Exodus as occurring during the reign of Pharaoh Dudimose. If nothing else, Rohl's New Chronology highlights the imperfections of the conventional Egyptian chronology, and reminds us that even long established models can be subject to paradigm shifts, just as some of the presumptions of Newtonian physics were overturned by Einstein's theory of general relativity.

So we can safely conclude that the Book of Revelation bases much of its material on the plagues of Egypt, which rather astonishingly, it appears to have known were centred around a "great mountain, burning with fire" being thrown into the sea. But in its reinterpretation of past events as a reflection of the future, the Apocalypse foretells that a burning mountain being cast into the sea will destroy the eschatological world empire referred to as "Babylon". The main message that seems to be conveyed by these parallels, is that just as the Minoan civilisation (Atlantis?), and indeed the Egyptian Pharaoh, were undone by a burning mountain being thrown into the sea, so too would Babylon be toppled by the effects of a large scale volcanic collapse. It seems that the events of the Thera eruption is destined to be reenacted in the future.
As we have already discussed in the post Mega-tsunami, just such a fate lies in store for America upon the eventual collapse of Cumbre Vieja in the Canary Islands. The ensuing mega-tsunami caused by the collapse of Cumbre Vieja would obliterate the entire east coast of the Americas, including cities such as New York, Boston, Washington D.C. and Miami, as well as the Caribbean islands and various cities on the coast of South America. And a catastrophe on this scale would almost certainly bring about the total economic collapse of the USA - especially if hostile nations exploit this opportunity and deploy certain strategic measures to ensure that it could never recover (such as arming a rogue state to attack key cities on the west coast, or even simply by refusing vital economic aid).
It is also interesting to note that if the destruction of the Minoan civilisation at Thera is the true source of the myth of Atlantis, Plato mistakenly identified this land destroyed in the sea with a continent that lay beyond the pillars of Hercules across the Atlantic Ocean - the location of America itself. Could there be some prophetic significance in this misidenfication of a continent being destroyed in the sea? In addition to being beyond the pillars of Hercules (the closest point between Spain and Morocco across the straits of Gibraltar), Plato describes the location of Atlantis as being at "a distant point in the Atlantic ocean", and that in size it was "larger than Libya and Asia together". Additionally, the Book of Revelation narrates the fall of Babylon in language which is highly evocative of Plato's description of the disaster that befell Atlantis. Plato describes Atlantis as being consumed in the sea in "one grievous day and night", whilst the Apocalypse foretells that Babylon will be destroyed in a "single hour", symbolised by an angel hurling a huge millstone into the sea:

They will stand far off, in fear of her torment, and say, “Alas! Alas! You great city, you mighty city, Babylon! For in a single hour your judgment has come.”
(Rev 18:10)

Once we take into consideration the fact that Sr. Lucia described an event extremely similar to this when she instructed by the Blessed Virgin Mary to commit the Third Secret to writing, we should take the threat of this future event extremely seriously indeed:

‘I felt my spirit flooded by a light-filled mystery which is God and in Him I saw and heard: the point of the flame-like lance which detaches, touches the axis of the earth and it [the earth] shakes: mountains, cities, towns and villages with their inhabitants are buried. The sea, rivers and clouds leave their bounds, they overflow, flood and drag with them into a whirlpool, houses and people in a number unable to be counted; it is the purification of the world from the sin it is immersed in. Hatred, ambition, cause destructive wars...
(Sr. Lucia, Tuy, January 3rd, 1944)

Emmet,

Thanks for all you do here.

I was curious if you've looked at all into Locutions to the World (http://www.locutions.org/) or the writings of Charlie Johnston (https://charliej373.wordpress.com/) or Mark Mallet (www.markmallett.com). Charlie and Mark seem to have their heads on straight and are both claiming private revelation about an eminent collapse of, well, everything. Charlie speaks of a "rescue" occurring in 2017 - the specific dating always making my skepticism cap on, but his advice appears to be sound either war - trust in God, don't worry, just be prepared (rationally and trustingly). Locutions has been making similar claims, especially around the upcoming Fatima centennial, though we can't exactly check out the "prophet" here.

Just curious of your opinion. I apologize if I've overstepped bounds in posting non-Church approved messages. I don't know if you have any posting rules about that.

Emmett O'Regan said...

Hi Tomas, no I don't have any rules or whatever concerning unapproved private revelations. I just don't put much stock in them, and tend to avoid them. There are obviously genuine ones out there, but it's extremely difficult to tell. I have heard of locutions.org and some of its material corresponds to my view of the Two Witnesses, but I certainly cannot vouch for its authenticity. Mark Mallett is a gifted writer and a nice guy, but his views on millenariasm contradict Church teaching, and this makes me wonder if his "locutions" are genuine, or the product of his own speculations. I haven't heard of the other guy though...

Hello Emmett,
Thank you for another great post! I look forward to them!
I've been reading Charlie Johnston and I think he's the real deal.
He is not interested in getting people to believe that he has had some revelations from God. Instead, he sees his role as being a "sherpa" to help people know how to live a life of faith in the coming trials.
His three step system is good advice: whatever may happen, trust in God, take the next right step, and be a sign of hope to others.
I agree with you that Mallett's ideas on the millennium seem inaccurate, but I think he is a faith-filled Catholic. As for locutions, I used to think they were authentic but now I don't anymore. Too many contradictory things.
God bless you!

Emmett, I think you have heard of this prophecy: Old Italian Prophecy
"When the White Pope and the Black Pope shall die during the same night, then there will dawn upon the Christian nations the Great White Day."
"Woe unto the City of Philosophers, woe unto Lombardy for thy towers of joy shall be broken down; all the tyrants shall be put out of God's church, and there shall occur a general conversion to the faith of Christ under the Great Lion." Can you remark about the prophecy? I think in a different thread you dismissed it, but could you say why and give reference (book reference). It is ancient because the City of Philosophers dates back to the first millennium. Thanks for your comments.

Emmett,

I've been thinking a lot about these things since you began the last 2 Fatima posts.

Some questions. I know you've posted about this before, but It seems to me that these things are awfully close to happening. In your Chronology, does the 2nd Pentecost reach it's fulfillment (Triumph of the Church, Evangelize the whole world etc..) before this great destruction? I'd like to get your thoughts, or direct me to the post or posts it was explained if you could.

Also, the hot topic on here is the Pope. Here's what I've been witnessing, not just here but all over the place. First he comes on the scene and moves rather swiftly. The Media love him, the Protestants don't know what to think, and us Catholics look exactly like the People of God at the time of Jesus public ministry.

The Ancient Jews had the same problem we do. Some were way too liberal, some were way too conservative, some were indifferent, there were breakaway sects, and the true faith of the time was too busy being enclosed on themselves and not converting the gentiles. In fact all of Gods covenants were to allow for conversions and include the gentiles.

This is the time God chose to send Jesus. Much, much, confusion. It sounds exactly like our time. It seemed God got the most angered when his true followers decided to keep to themselves. Hence the time in the 1800s-the 1960s when disaster of confusion finally struck. Now we have Frances who is jolting the Church and people being angered by it just like Jesus.

My point is do you see the same thing? It seems to me that this Pope may be destined for the ultimate martyrdom of our time, which will usher in the time we so often speak of.

Emmett O'Regan said...

Thanks for the info on Charlie Johnson Sr. Lorraine. I'll have to try reading some of his material.

Anon, I think I vaguely remember this prophecy. I can't remember its source though. Usually prophecies like this are unprovenanced though, and the only real source you will find is in some of the miscellaneous prophetic compilations of the Middle Ages, such as those by Luke Wadding, etc. The reference to a "black pope" would identify it as originating in a circle belonging to the heretical Franciscan Spirituals though, as this term was first coined by their movement, who were opposed to the papacy of their own time.

Hi Joe, the destruction of "Babylon" occurs after the ministry of the Two Witnesses is completed and they are martyred by the Beast that rises from the Abyss. So it takes place at the rise to power of the Antichrist, who helps to ensure the downfall of "Babylon" so that he can take over from its hegemony of world affairs. So the Second Pentecost comes first, then the fall of Babylon, and then the rise of the Antichrist in its place. I can't remember off the top of my head any specific post that deals with these time frames. Maybe I should put one together.

Please be careful with Locutions to the World, locutions.org. It has many inconsistencies and is quite contrary to what Our Lady has said. She would never be in favor of war. When Our Lady has appeared she has always called for peace. I do not know who really is behind these messages, but it seems to be very much like the false MDM messages.

The turning of the Nile to blood, the parting of the Red Sea, the angel of death striking down the firstborn of Egypt, Moses turning his staff into a snake, etc., all these things were literal supenatural events. I know that there is a modern attempt to try and explain these supernatural events as metaphors for some other naturally occuring phenomena, but these really were literal, supernatural events, in the same way that Christ performed real, literal, supernatural miracles.

Mary H said...

I agree about the concerns over locutions. The site has included prophecies I find it similar in tone to MDM in that the locutionist seems to exalt herself at times. Emmett, you will do your readers a favor if you look over locutions and give your opinion.

Emmett the Cumbre Vieja tsunami scare towards the U.S. has been proven to be a hoax by reputable scientists. It's just a way for insurance companies in England to scare the public in order for them to buy more insurance. Even if the pieces of the Canary Island mountain fall to the ocean it is impossible for the tsunami to reach the U.S.

The Book of Revelations is very difficult to interpret as we all know, and many times it depicts the past, and not so much the future. All we know for sure are the messages conveyed by the Blessed Mother in her apparitions to what will happen in the world, if we do not go back to God.

Historically Mystery Babylon was Jerusalem. St Paul and St Peter knew the Jews at the time conspired and sought death and punishment of Christians. They used the Romans to do their dirty work. During the Russian revolution, "Jewish communists turned Christian churches into whorehouses and sent Christian believers to Siberian salt mines and other gulag camps to mercilessly tortured and killed."

Revelations 11 said, "Jerusalem would be in the last days be so monstrously wicked it would spiritually be called Sodom and Egypt. Israel today is the most wicked and debauched sin filled place on earth. Israel tortures and torments native Palestinians. Israel leads the world in sex slave trafficking. Its porn kingpin fill the world with XXX rated filth. But that's only the top of the iceberg."

"The U.S. and Europe are components, but the head of the monster is the city of Jerusalem, the great city, where Jesus was crucified."

Israel used Saudi Arabia to fund those who concocted 9-11 in order for the U.S. and Europe to fight its wars. We have Freemasonry, Communism, and now Radical Islamism intertwined on purpose to fill the plan for these illuminati's which is world dominance and Israel calling the shots.

And they are.

According to....an anonymous keyboard warrior?

I have no bone in this fight. But the Global Slavery Index (http://www.globalslaveryindex.org/) shows Israel to be at 111 out of 162 in slave trafficking.

But don't tell me - there is a Jewish conspiracy behind that study.

Reuter's FactBox shows the top 10, and of course Israel is not in it -
http://in.reuters.com/article/2013/10/16/slavery-index-factbox-idINDEE99F0E020131016

I searched for your sentence. Is this where you lifted that quote?

What sludge and filth populates these spaces anymore.

We will all be held accountable for our words. "You will be held accountable for careless word you speak..and by your words you will be acquitted or condemned." (Matthew 12.36-37)

Since I live on the East Coast of the US, I hope that the tsunami wave prophecy won't come true!
I wonder if Sr Lucia's prophecy of the flood could have two levels of meaning: one a literal one, and the other a figurative one. I mean as in the flood of evil that has come over the world in our day.

According to a Parliamentary Inquiry most of the women that are smuggled into Israel, between 3,000 to 5,000 annually are sold into prostitution and most come from Russia, Moldova, Ukraine, Belarus and Uzbekistan.

Even though there has been success in convicting traffickers within these years, the fact remains that the demand for commercial sex in Israel is still strong.

Hey Emmett (and others), I saw this online today and thought you might be interested. It's an article that speculates that Francis believes that we're in the end times.

http://www.cruxnow.com/church/2015/01/25/apocalyptic-beliefs-may-explain-why-francis-is-a-pope-in-a-hurry/

And then Cardinal George wants to ask Pope Francis about his beliefs on eschatology (scroll about half way down)

I'm not sure if these articles are legit or not, just putting it out there.

Joerusso777, you are writing:
"Now we have Frances who is jolting the Church and people being angered by it just like Jesus."

I am not so sure that Pope Francis is jolting the Church like Jesus jolted the Jewish people in His time. The way the Pope "jolted" the Franciscan Friars of the Immaculata order, bringing it down to its ultimate destruction or the way the Pope ordered the Family Synod to be led, turning upside down what Jesus taught regarding the indissolubility of the marriage have scandalized a great number of faithfuls.
If jolting means OK for divorce and OK for a new marriage with another wife, everybody knows that Jesus never taught this.

We live in a very dark and confusing time. The last thing we need to be doing is waiting and watching for each other to betray the Church.
Dedicating our lives to loving Christ through Mary with an absolute abandonment and I mean absolute is the only way.
we need to stop this backstabbing paranoia that has run rampant in the Church today.

Joe, you should research what Cardinal Baldisseri head of the Synod of Bishops has said about Pope Francis regarding the midterm Relatio and etc....
A good start would be Chiesa.espressonline.it ( they have an English speaking section if that helps) another website that is like a Drudge Report for Catholics is Pewsitter. You should read a very tear filled open letter to Pope Francis by a convert to the Catholic faith "A Cri de Coeur from Convert to Pope Francis" by Dr. Maike Hickson dated December 10,2014 you can find it at a blog called Rorate Caeli. It also would be a good idea to sign the "Filial Appeal to Pope Francis on the Occasion of the 2015 Synod on the Family" it is at filialappeal.org . Over 70,000 people have signed it, including Cardinal Raymond Burke and other prominent Catholics from around the world. Joe yes we do live in a very dark and confusing time, perhaps the time called the "diabolical disorientation".
God bless you Joe.

I dont think it has anything to do with backstabbing but many of us find the current pope problematic to put it mildly. There have been good and bad popes in the past so nothing unusual. What is problematic is modern forms of media spreading the confusing message across the world, after 55 years of confusion from the highest levels.

In regard to what is in Francis' heart and where he is taking the church I think we can look at his diocese in Buenos Aires as an indicator of where things could be headed at large - a mess something he implored religious to do soon after becoming pope. What we do know for certain is that he praised Kaspers heretical theology as profound and serene.

I am trying to find a balanced article that Boniface of unumsanctam put on the remnant blog (i think his friend wrote it) one time on the confusing mind of Jorge Bergoglio and that if one tries to use their reason to understand Bergoglio they will probably lose it. Just that one statement helped me.

I hear you friend regarding fallen nature. Please pray for me.

> many of us find the current pope problematic

There are "many" who have found every pope throughout history problematic, without exception. That, in itself, means nothing. It's only in this age of the deification of opinion and the internet that we find this phenomenon of "a great many of us are troubled, therefore we are right."

I find it fascinating that this subculture tries to convince others to stop listening to the Pope even as it insists we listen to *them*. The very criteria they use for truth, when applied to them, makes them fall to pieces.

That's why our Lord established the Church, so we wouldn't have to run here and there finding a conspiracy subculture to follow.

> if one tries to use their reason to understand Bergoglio they will probably lose it.

The divine guidance of the Church by God is a mystery. If you wish to wrap your mind around it and only accept what you can understand with your reason, you are deeply misguided.

That, in itself, is bad enough. Far worse is that the internet gives you a huge megaphone with which you can safely smear filth all over the supreme pontiff.

This filth should disgust every member of the faithful:

Wrong. The magisterium is our anchor. If I used that logic you were accusing me of then I would side with the world as it thoroughly rejects the magisterium.

"The divine guidance of the Church by God is a mystery. If you wish to wrap your mind around it and only accept what you can understand with your reason, you are deeply misguided."

Wrong. There are mysteries but there can't be such a radical departure in teaching - for example a dogma can't be overturned and then we claim it is divine providence and a mystery. Similarly one can't say divorce and remarriage is a disciplinary matter as Kasper is trying to push.

We have a holy bishop such as Athanasius Schneider calling the relatio from the synod a most shameful document and yes the pope was for it.

Bishop Schneider:
"the text represents a radical neo-pagan ideology. This is the first time in Church history that such a heterodox text was actually published as a document of an official meeting of Catholic bishops under the guidance of a pope,"

"Such a synod document, even if only preliminary, is a real shame and an indication to the extent the spirit of the anti-Christian world has already penetrated such important levels of the life of the Church. This document will remain for the future generations and for the historians a black mark which has stained the honour of the Apostolic See."

Some thoughts on today's scripture

The storm clouds are gathering. Jesus’ enemies come ‘from Jerusalem’ where he will be condemned and killed. The Pharisees and scribes are looking backwards, not at the new world which Jesus is opening up. They say, ‘This is what we have always done.’ God’s dream upsets their cautious lives. Jesus puts God first, as always, whereas they are ‘hypocrites’ – playing a role, inauthentic. Do I ever act in inauthentic ways? Am I afraid of change that would disturb my comfort?

The command of God is to love as God loves. I must not let my practices and routines, my safe ways of doing things, interfere with the flow of divine love through me into the world.

I still think the Ten Commandments starring Charleton Heston most closely associates the parting of the Red Sea with the scriptural account. In the bible it clearly says the there was a wall of water on the left and right and dry land in the middle. The Israelites pass through and then when the Egyptians enter in Moses closes up the sea with the holy staff. God brought the Israelites out of Egypt with His mighty hand. They rejoice and make a hymn to praise God for His wondrous deeds. After 430 years of slavery, they rejoiced at being free. Imagine how we will rejoice when the cruel slavery the devil has imposed on our cultures is ended. There will be many celebrations and hymns of praise to the Heavenly Father when He delivers us from evil.

I'm a little late and maybe no one will ever read this comment.

But it is far more fascinating and awe-inspiring to me that God timed a volcanic explosion and its aftermath with the need to punish a Pharaoh, then that He lifted a wall of water on the right and left and dried the land in-between. It matters little to me which He did b/c He was the author of it all. But, think of the stupendous act of knowing at the creation of the world precisely when you would need a volcano to erupt, and its impact to affect Egypt!

I thought I'd take a punt on posting this as I stumbled on your great website when looking into 21st century prophecies. After the last posting about private revelations I just thought I'd mention that you might be interested in the very recent(2014)prophecies by D. M Langdon (Universal wisdom for the Golden Age) providing details of the horrific natural disasters set to occur due to the shift of the Earth's axis and build up of gas at the Earth's core, as well as Jupiter's demise. It also mentions a timeline for the apocalypse (four score and ten) and details the Second Coming of Christ, to a "lowly church with heart to spare"....It does seem to tie in somewhat with biblical prophecies as well as those of Nostradamus, Edgar Cayce etc.
