Just watched this on New Advent. Also note that the book is now available for Kindle - so even us visually challenged folks can read it. lubbly-jubbly.

Been reading the book! Excellent writing as in "Unveiling the Apocalypse." I'm appreciating the extensive research that went into these books.
Thank you!

I read the book prior to its mention on this blog. I really enjoyed the breadth of research into papal statements. One thing which really disappointed and surprised me, however, was the author's penchant for using italics for what he wanted to emphasize from quotes. Contrary to what he says in this interview about not wanting to put his own spin on anything, the prolific, subjective use of italics to emphasize anything related to eschatology does just that. One might reply, "yes, but that's the point of the book," to which I would reply "yes, but church pronouncements throughout history, all the way back through to scripture itself contain references to preparing for Christ's return." We are an eschatological Church, after all, and the selective use of italics everywhere makes it look like the message of preparing for Christ's return only just began this past century. Yet it is the very heart of the Christian message. I would have said this on an Amazon review but in my experience I would have gotten torpedoed. Besides that, I personally believe the book and its message is to important to neglect and so wouldn't want to dissuade anyone from reading it due to that.

Mark,
Thank you for your comments about my book. I would just point out that quite a few quotes in italics were actually italicized by the popes themselves. I did add some of my own to emphasize certain points, however nowhere near all of them. I take your point though. Thanks very much for taking the time to read it. Much appreciated!
God Bless,
Stephen

I've been attending a MMP cenacle (Fr. Gobbi's book) for 20 years

Last week we read from message #595
In this message and others, see below, it is conveyed that the Second Pentecost will produce big changes and more than just preparing us for the onslaught of the antichrist.
and thus, it brings forth the "pristine" world whose manifistation is so castigated on this site as heresy. I tend to have a problem with this.
#595a "...I want to gather you all into the spiritual cenacle of my Immaculate Heart. Here the prodigy of the Second Pentecost for the Church and for all humanity will soon take place....
.....f By the divine fire of the Holy Spirit, humanity will be completely purified, that it may again become that new garden where the Most Holy Trinity will receive its greatest glory.
.....h In the light of his truth, the Church will see herself in all her human weakness and will be healed of her crisis of faith; she will be set free from the snare of errors,...
i ...Renewed by the divine fire of the Holy Spirit, the entire Church will reflect the glory of he Lord and will agin become a faithful and chase Spouse, all beautiful without spot or wrinkle...."
j... It is the testimony of the Holy Spirit which will bring you to an understanding of the whole and entire truth..
l.....With the Prodigy of the second Pentecost, humanity will acknowledge Jesus Christ as its Redeemer and as its only Savoir.
m ... Then the Holy Spirit will open hearts and souls to welcome Christ, who will return to you in the splendor of his divine glory.
n - thus my Immaculate Heart will finally attain its great triumph."

ALSO: 573i "Within this new spiritual cenecle, I will prepare it (the Church)to receive the gift of the Second Pentecost which will renew the face of the earth."

HERE/below, you can see that the WARNING (JESUS crucified in the sky with the illumination of conscience) and the Second Pentecost are the same.

574c "The Second Pentecost will come to bring this humanity...back to its full communion of Life with its Lord....
d Miraculous and Spiritual tongues of fire will purify the hearts and souls of all, WHO WILL SEE THEMSELVES IN THE LIGHT OF GOD AND WHO WILL BE PIERCED BY THE KEEN SWORD OF HIS DIVINE TRUTH."...

i "And thus let us await the decent of the Second Pentecost, which will renew the world and change the face of the earth."

357t The Holy Spirit will come down as fire, but in a manner different from his first coming: it will be a fire which will burn and transform everything, which will sanctify and renew the earth from its foundations."

recall the Holy Ghost prayer from the early centuries of the Church... "Come oh Holy Ghost and fill the hearts of the faithful. enkindle in them the fire of Thy Love. Send forth Thy Spirit, and they shall be re-created, and thou shall renew the face of the earth."
This prayer is consistant with the earth being renewed at the Second Pentecost
Of great interest is a book by Mark Miravalle, “Apostalate of Holy Motherhood”. Locutions to a mother
This book (see below) indicates that Mary will literally appear in the sun (or at least in the heavens )
Apostolate of Holy Motherhood, Pg 14, Mary- “ You will know by the sign in the heavens, which is I Myself, that the time is at hand for the instantaneous conversion of the multitude. This will be accomplished through a tremendous outpouring of grace (THE WARNING) upon the earth given at the hands of God to Me for this purpose. this will be the Triumph of My Immaculate Heart of which I spoke at Fatima [Portugal, 1917].Mary, through a housewife. (Midwest U.S.), February 22, 1987
continued....

In Fr. Gobbi’s book 357t The Holy Spirit will come down as fire, but in a manner different from his first coming: it will be a fire which will burn and transform everything, which will sanctify and renew the earth from its foundations."

recall the Holy Ghost prayer from the early centuries of the Church... "Come oh Holy Ghost and fill the hearts of the faithful. enkindle in them the fire of Thy Love. Send forth Thy Spirit, and they shall be re-created, and thou shall renew the face of the earth."

So you see the Second Pentecost is (it readily appears) to be something much more than preperation for the Antichrist and thus, it brings forth the "pristine" world whose manifistation is so castigated on this site as heresy.

At "The Warning" ie Second Pentecost Mary appears in the Sky just prior to the warning. Probably appears in the Sun

Apostolate of Holy Motherhood -Ed. Dr. Marc Merivalle. Locutions from the Virgin Mary to an anonymous seer Mariamamette 1987. Copy write 1989. Imprimatur and with several recommendations from orthodox theologeons and one including an introduction from Mother Teresa of Calcutta.

This book (pg 14) reveals that the Virgin Mary will literally appear in the sky for the conversion of the multitudes. More specifically (using a little common sense) Mary may appear in the Sun (Rev 12:1) just before the Warning (see below) where Jesus crucified appears in the sky (see St. Faustina entry 9) and all people on earth at the same time experience the illumination of conscience. Will we see a literal manifestation of Rev 12:1 rather than only interpreting this passage in symbolic terms? This is logically and literally in keeping that Jesus is Mercy itself and Mary is the Mother of Mercy.

Luke 21:25
And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, by reason of the confusion of the roaring of the sea and of the waves

Apocalypse (Revelation) 12:1

And a great sign appeared in heaven: A woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars

This book (see below) indicates that Mary will literally appear in the sun (or at least in the heavens )

Apostolate of Holy Motherhood, Pg 14, Mary...... When the sign occurs in the heavens, there will be instantaneous mass conversions. The wickedness of men would destroy My plan if possible but My power given to Me by God Himself is infinitely greater than all the wickedness in the world. . Remember this always. It will give you great heart to know and reflect upon this. Satan and his legions cannot prevent My Triumph as hard as they may try, because God Himself has preordained that this should occur in this time. You are fortunate to be living in this time, this era of mercy and love. Not all have been given so great a chance to repent from so much evil. You will know by the sign in the heavens, which is I Myself, that the time is at hand for the instantaneous conversion of the multitude. This will be accomplished through a tremendous outpouring of grace (THE WARNING) upon the earth given at the hands of God to Me for this purpose. this will be the Triumph of My Immaculate Heart of which I spoke at Fatima [Portugal, 1917].Mary, through a housewife (Midwest U.S.), February 22, 1987. [This quote indicated that a sign in the skies would be Mary herself.]

Ben,

It is very easy to confuse those messages with millenarianism. They tend to mix the prophecies of the restoration of the Church at the end-time before the coming of the Antichrist (during the ministry of the Two Witnesses), together with the renewal of the earth after the General Resurrection of the dead, at the creation of the New Heaven and the New Earth. It does this because these separate events reflect each other to a certain extent on a symbolic level.
In a nutshell, you must refrain from interpreting this as a prophecy that a paradise will be established here on earth for a prolonged period before the Last Judgement - that is millenarianism, and is condemned by the Church.
However this does not mean that there will not be a renewal of the Church through the Holy Spirit before the Second Coming of Christ, just before the coming of the Antichrist. This will happen, and the Jews will be converted (along with Russia, England, etc.). But this period of the renewal of the Holy Spirit will not last a long time, and there will be a falling away again during the reign of the Antichrist. As the CHURCH APPROVED secret given to Maximin Giruad by Our Lady of La Salette states:

"Then, after [that], a great peace will come, but it will not last a long time. A monster will come to disturb it."

It is during this period that the Two Witnesses (who establish the period of restoration) will be put to death by the Antichrist.

Thanks for that Emmett. Have you read "A While Longer"? Do you think the restoration of the Church just prior to the rise of the anti-Christ could come in 2017?

I'm connecting the restoration of the Church with the locution to Pope Leo XIII, when he heard Jesus and Satan debating, and Satan told Jesus he could destroy His Church if he had more time and power. Jesus gave Satan 100 years. "A While Longer" proposes that those 100 years began in 1917 with Fatima, and that something big might be happening around 2017.

So perhaps we might see that temporary restoration of the Church in 2017, with the anti-Christ coming shortly thereafter?

If that's true, I wonder what such a restoration would look like, and how long it would last, and how the anti-Christ would be able to come to power? Perhaps we won't see that many secularists convert (there needs to be people to accept the anti-Christ), but rather a restoration in the Church would mean a restored unity between Catholics, Eastern Orthodox, and Protestants?

I'm just throwing some thoughts out there. What do you think?

Emmett O'Regan said...

I haven't got round to reading A While Longer yet. I do mean to though... From what I gather it sounds really good, and the author appears to share similar views to myself.
It is tempting to look to the centenary of the apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima as a date of major importance. Sr. Lucia made reference to a period of 100 years herself, based on the belated consecration of France to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. There seems to be several layers to this prophecy of the 75-100 years. I think the 100 years of Satan's greater power primarily refers to the 20th century, between the years 1900-2000. This is the most natural reading of that prophecy, and also fits in with Pope Leo XIII's consecration of the world to the Sacred Heart of Jesus in 1899, and the fact that the 20th century was framed by two extremely rare alignments of the seven classical planets.
But the full effects of Satan's greater power weren't felt until the outbreak of WWI in 1914 - which I feel is the next natural starting point to which we should look for the beginning of the "little while" given to Satan.
Proposing that the period of greater power began in 1917 with the rise of Soviet Russia ignores the importance of WWI - which is part of the "wars and rumors of wars" described by Jesus as taking place before the end of the world in His Olivet discourse. The outbreak of WWI is part of the greater influence of Satan, when he gathers the nations together for war:

"The sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up, to prepare the way for the kings from the east. And I saw, coming out of the mouth of the dragon and out of the mouth of the beast and out of the mouth of the false prophet, three unclean spirits like frogs. For they are demonic spirits, performing signs, who go abroad to the kings of the whole world, to assemble them for battle on the great day of God the Almighty."
(Rev 16:12-14)

The drying up of the Euphrates occurred with the building of the Hindiya barrage, which was completed in 1913 - just before the start of WWI.

Also if we calculate 75 years on from 1914, we arrive at 1989 - the year of the worldwide collapse of communism. This year was also pointed to in Jesus' enacted parable of the 153 fish (153 x 13 = 1989) - which is related to the "great catch of fish" during the Second Pentecost.
Rev 9 tells us that the "locusts" would not be able to kill people for five "months" (= years) after the star had fallen to earth to open the abyss. This means that after this period of five "months" the locusts would be allowed to kill. If we calculate 5 years on from the Tunguska event of 1908 (which is the star fallen to earth), then we arrive at 1913. So the locusts were permitted to start killing after this date - which happened when WWI broke out in 1914, and military airplanes were first used.
So the two main dates in the 75-100 years of greater power are from 1900-2000 for the 100 years and 1914-1989 for the 75 years. This period is when evil was at its most intense.
Saying this, I do still feel that the start of the restoration of the Church is in some way related to a different set of 100 years. Various prophecies also point to the importance of the papacy of Pope Francis in this respect. Whether the restoration will begin in 2014 or 2017 remains to be seen. Or perhaps both dates are important in this respect. Whatever the case, the renovation of the Church before the coming of the Antichrist is the next prophetic event that is set to occur, and there is good reason to believe we are at the very cusp of this glorious time of renewal.

Emmett O'Regan said...

The only prophetic indication of the length of the period of the restoration of the Church under the Two Witnesses is given in the secrets of Our Lady of La Salette. The Blessed Virgin Mary told Maximin that the "great peace" would not last a long time before the monster would disturb it.
She also gave Melanie some information on the renewal of the Church:

"A great king will go up on the throne, and will reign many years. Religion will re-flourish and spread all over the world, and there will be a great abundance. The world, glad to be lacking nothing, will fall again into disorder, will give up God, and will return to its criminal passions."

In the later unapproved 1879 version of Melanie's secret, she specified that the length of the period of peace would last 25 years:

'This peace among men will not be long; 25 years of abundant harvests will make them forget that the sins of men are the cause of all the pains which come upon the earth.'

So for the sake of "fun", let's say for example we are to calculate the start of the renewal at 2017. This would place the coming of the Antichrist to 2042. If it is 2014, then it gives us 2039.
But given that there is good reason to believe that the end of the 100 years of greater power took place at the turn of the millennium, there is a possibility that the years 2024-2025 are related to the coming of the Antichrist (at least according to the timescales of Our Lady of La Salette). I'm not too sure how serious to take this however.
In my book, I argue that the Antichrist will come to world domination following the collapse of America as a superpower. If the East Coast of the US is obliterated due to the mega-tsunami threat posed by the volcano Cumbre Vieja on the Canary Islands, it would cause the complete economic collapse of America, and send the world spiraling into an economic depression. This is one of the main repercussions of the fall of "Babylon" highlighted by the Apocalypse:

"And the merchants of the earth weep and mourn for her, since no one buys their cargo anymore"
(Rev 18:11)

Hitler rose to power in Germany in similar circumstances, in the wake of the Great Depression. Throw the political vacuum left by the collapse of the US into the mix, and you have all the ingredients for the emergence of a world dictator.

Yes, the restoration of the Church will be healing of the Eastern Orthodox schism etc., and there most definitely won't be universal conversions. There will be a lot of secularists converting also, but by no means all of them. There will be another falling away from the faith during the reign of Antichrist, with many presumably questioning the existence of God again in the wake of such disasters and economic woes.

Jamey said...

'This peace among men will not be long; 25 years of abundant harvests will make them forget that the sins of men are the cause of all the pains which come upon the earth.'

So it seems the peace will not be a gradual return to sanity by a large portion of humanity but sudden indicating some sort of extraordinary event.

Emmett O'Regan said...

Yes, this would be in line with the "great sign" foretold by St. Faustina and Our Lady of Akita, which other prophecies indicate causes the "illumination of conscience".
