Elul and the 40 Days of Repentance

Vision of St. Benedict, by Cosmas Damian Asam Bavarian (1735). This painting is thought to have been based on the total solar eclipse of 13th May, 1733.

Today, the feast day of Our Lady of Knock, marks the occasion of the Great American Eclipse of 2017. As long time readers of this blog will know, for the past several years, I have associated the sign of Jonah spoken of by Christ with the advent of a total solar eclipse over the site of ancient Nineveh - specifically with that which occurred on 11th August 1999, at the turn of the third millennium. In the first edition of my book, published in 2011, I argued that this event, together with the Izmit earthquake which occurred a few dates later on 17th August 1999, the peak of the 33-year cycle of the Leonid Meteor Storm in November 1999, and the first blood moon of the new millennium on 21st January 2000, all formed the sequence of events described at the opening of the sixth seal:

When he opened the sixth seal, I looked, and behold, there was a great earthquake, and the sun became black as sackcloth, the full moon became like blood, and the stars of the sky fell to the earth as the fig tree sheds its winter fruit when shaken by a gale. (Rev 6:12-13)

The 1999 solar eclipse also passed directly through the site of ancient Nineveh, at the dawn of the third millennium. This echoes the "three days" aspect of the sign of Jonah, following the thousand year/day equation made in 2Pet 3:8-9:

"But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance."

The 1999 solar eclipse also was followed by each of the other signs mentioned at the opening of the sixth seal, and concluded with the events of 9/11 (the "blood, fire and columns of smoke" mentioned in Joel 2:30). So the last solar eclipse to pass through Nineveh was part of a sequence of heavenly signs which augured the chastisement of America.

The hypothesis which I originally presented concerning the sign of Jonah and a potential connection to the Great American Eclipse of 2017 in a blog post published on 4th November, 2016 (see here). My sign of Jonah/Bur Sagale eclipse/First World War eclipse observation has now went viral, thanks to its widespread proliferation by several extremely popular Protestant end-times preachers, most notably Pastor Mark Biltz. The core argument I presented in this post was that the original sign of Jonah took the form of a total solar eclipse over the site of ancient Nineveh, how this ties in with the First World War eclipse on 21st August, 1914, and how this appears to announce a 40-day period of repentance associated with the Great American Eclipse of 2017. At the time, I was unaware of a connection between the 40-day period of repentance in Jewish tradition beginning in the Hebrew month of Elul.

It seems that Pastor Mark Biltz had picked up my article after it was circulated to tens of thousands of readers by Michael H Brown's website Spirit Daily, and a few weeks later, he issued a video presentation incorporating my ideas on the Bur Sagale eclipse and how this ties in with the First World War eclipse over Nineveh into his material on the 40-day period of repentance beginning in Elul. Somewhat frustratingly, either through negligence or for some other motivation, Pastor Mark Biltz has to date not divulged to his audience that I am the source of the idea concerning the connection between the Bur Sagale, WWI and American eclipses. I have fully documented how I made these discoveries throughout this blog throughout the course of many years. In fact, the way in which I made these discoveries was covered in the comments section of my early blog post Signs in the Sky (which, I now note in retrospect was published on 15th August 2011 - the Solemnity of the Assumption and the start of St. Michael's Lent).

My ideas concerning the Bur Sagale eclipse, the First World War eclipse and the sign of Jonah has reached an audience of potentially millions, without credit being given to me. For example, the below video by Pastor Steve Cioccolanti has been publically endorsed by Billy Graham's daughter, Anne Lotz Graham, and has racked up almost 1,000,000 views since it was issued three weeks ago.

This video summarizes my theories concerning the sign of Jonah. My primary concern is that the people of American recognize the need to repent at this exact moment in time in relation to this solar eclipse - a message which is now being spread to a number I could have never hoped to have achieved by myself. So thank you, Pastor Biltz, for doing all the legwork for me, but I would have liked at least due credit for making these discoveries.

Below is another post from two years ago which also discusses the significance of the sign of Jonah in relation to the 1999 solar eclipse, tied into the appearance of an alleged apparition which took place at the site of Alqosh in Iraq on Jan 21st, 2015 (the feast day of Our Lady of Zion and anniversary of the first blood moon of the new millennium, which took place in the midst of the blood moon tetrad sequence discovered by Pastor Biltz himself). This was the hometown of the Prophet Nahum, who also foretold the destruction of Nineveh.

You are a prophet Emmet! Remember--prophets never get their reward on earth--only in heaven! Thank God that all your work is paying off and many, many good Christians feel the need to pray and do penance for America (especially its own citizens like me) and the world. Thank you and God bless you!

Thanks Rose! I wouldn't say I'm a prophet though. More like a broken clock, which is right twice a day.

I saw our bit of it and then watched the NASA coverage of the event across America. Two things struck me. One, the fact that in Charleston the corona was not visible at all, prob due to clouds, but the total blackout of the sun was unnerving. Two, the audible reactions of the crowds everywhere were not sounds of awe but of whooping and hollering, like barbarians cheering destruction. Also unnerving.

Since we're talking about the Sun, as you know Emmett I'm rather dubious about relating prophetic expectations to natural phenomena but your theories are very thought-provoking and well-researched - which makes me far more open to your interpretations than I would be to anybody else commenting on similar astronomical events.

Nonetheless, I thought it might interest you to know that a second Maunder Minimum in sunspots is thought to be imminent, suggesting that the Earth is going to be plunged into a much colder climate over the coming decades, of a kind not witnessed since the 17th century. "Winter is coming" to use the popular culture phrase from that TV show...see this a academic study:

"...Yndestad And Solheim, 2016 : “In 1890´S G. Spörer And E. W. Maunder (1890) Reported That The Solar Activity Stopped In A Period Of 70 Years From 1645 To 1715...

These Minimum Periods Have Been Associated With Less Irradiation From The Sun And Cold Climate Periods On Earth...

The Result Shows That The TSI Variability And The Sunspots Variability Have Deterministic Oscillations, Controlled By The Large Planets Jupiter, Uranus And Neptune, As The First Cause. A Deterministic Model Of TSI [Total Solar Irradiance] Variability And Sunspot Variability Confirms The Known Minimum And Grand Minimum Periods Since 1000.

From This Deterministic Model We May Expect A New Maunder Type Sunspot Minimum Period From About 2018 To 2055..."

It's only one of many.

During the 20th and early 21st centuries, Earth’s inhabitants have enjoyed an epoch of very high solar activity that is rare or unique in the context of the last several thousand years, with correspondingly warmer temperatures. Unfortunately, solar scientists have increasingly been forecasting a return to a solar minimum period in the coming decades, as well as the concomitant cooler temperatures.

In several newly published (2017) papers, scientists have suggested that a substantial deterioration into solar minimum conditions and global cooling may be imminent (2018 according to the above study, slightly later in 2020 according to others): meaning that we have a solar minimum-induced “Little Ice Age” climate for the foreseeable future.

Why is this significant?

Well, you need only to consider what happened last time this took place.....there was a Global Crisis of unprecedented proportions in the 17th century which has long fascinated historians....

"...after 1645 sunspot activity was almost non-existent. It marked the depths of that ‘Little Ice Age’ which saw global temperatures lower than at any time since the end of the last glaciation 13,000 years ago.

It has long been familiar that the 17th century was also a time of extraordinary political turmoil right across Europe and Asia, from the Thirty Years War which laid waste vast tracts of Germany to the overthrow of the Ming dynasty in China; from the murderous civil wars and revolutions which rocked Britain and France to the disintegration of the Spanish empire. As early as 1643 a Spaniard observed that it was ‘one of the epochs when every nation is turned upside down’. Voltaire noted, a century later, how many rulers had been murdered or executed, from the Ottoman Sultan Ibrahim in 1648 and Charles I in 1649 to the Mogul emperor Shah Jehan in 1658, calling it ‘a period of usurpations almost from one end of the world to another’. Hugh Trevor-Roper popularised the term used to describe this age of violent transition between ‘the climate of the Renaissance’ and the ‘climate of the Enlightenment’ as ‘the General Crisis’.

What Geoffrey Parker has now added to our perception of that time, however, is the very significant part played in those events, overlooked by Trevor-Roper, by the climate itself. By exploring the impact of those extreme weather events which accompanied the Little Ice Age — and by the remarkable industry of his researches (his bibliography and list of sources run to nearly 150 pages) — he has added a whole new dimension to our understanding of that near-universal ‘time of crisis’...

Again and again we see similar patterns, as empires and kingdoms became drawn into a plethora of wars, requiring their rulers to raise ever larger sums of money in taxes. But again and again, as countries and whole regions were thrown into chaos by war, made worse by epidemics of disease, such as smallpox and the last recrudescence of that plague which had wracked Europe since the Black Death, we see how extreme weather events intervened to make the situation much worse. Everywhere from China and India to Britain and Ireland, droughts, floods, cold summers and freezing winters caused massive crop failures and economic breakdown, not only leading to widespread famines but making it impossible for impoverished and starving populations to meet those ever-rising tax demands.

It is no accident that it was right in the middle of the 17th century that Thomas Hobbes included his heartcry in Leviathan that the life of man is ‘solitary, poor, nasty, brutish and short’. Reading Parker’s painful accounts of how the general crisis tore apart one country after another, from Ireland to China, one can only think how fortunate we are not to live in a time as desperate as any in human history. In Szechuan alone, in the chaos surrounding the downfall of the 200-year old Ming dynasty, more than a million died. Vast areas of Europe in the chaos of the Thirty Years War lost up to a third or more of their population. The French civil war between 1649 and 1653, the Fronde, caused a million deaths. In Britain the various civil wars between 1638 and 1660 led to the deaths of seven per cent of the population, far greater than the two per cent who died in the first world war. In Ireland this rose to a fifth..."

The volcanic eruption of Mount Toba in Indonesia caused a ‘winter’ many millennia ago that lasted several years and apparently killed off most of the human population at the time, it was almost an extinction-level event.

In other words, these cold spells or "Little Ice Ages" are not good for humankind.

And apparently, "Winter is coming". Like, 2018 perhaps.

IMHO this is what our focus should really be on in terms of the Sun.

To amplify what Colin posted...

I'm also a HAM radio operator. I got my license a few years ago at "solar maximum". Amateur radio frequencies are greatly impacted by sunspots; the more sunspots, the farther your signals will go. (I don't think anyone really understands exactly why.)

At that point - solar maximum - I could talk to people in Patagonia, German, the UK, Poland once. Patagonia was about 6700 miles, and the farthest contact I made. I even heard Australia and Japan a couple of times, but they couldn't hear me.

But the dropoff from solar maximum was rather cliff-like. Instead of the gentle dropping off, the sunspots dropped far quicker and far more dramatically than expected. I haven't heard anyone from Europe in months that weren't so scratchy and static filled that it was impossible to understand what they were saying.

And this is the biggest thing from this rather limited point of view: There are old-timers I know that got their licenses in the 50s and 60s, and they're all saying that this is the worst solar-related conditions in living memory.

I don't know if this is a Maunder type situation, or a Dalton type, but regardless, it's a pretty significant change in solar activity over the past couple of years.

That was the most breathtaking thing I have ever seen! Indescribable. I was in a soybean farm in Kentucky with family and a few friends. We all gasped when it went into a total eclipse. The sky was clear except for a few fluffy clouds near the horizon. Honestly, the clouds made the 360 degree sunset even more beautiful. It was so unreal how it went into total darkness like a light switch. The partial eclipse caused gradual dimming, but the darkness from the total eclipse just englufed everything in an instant. It was eerie hearing dogs barking in the distance from confusion. The temperature drop was wild (yet such a welcomed relief since it was a blazing hot day). The contrast of the blacked out sun with the white corona just made everything not seem real. It was like we were dropped into a science fiction movie. ??!!? The diamond ring effect was my favorite part. I think we all stared a few seconds too long when we saw the shimmering light start to peek out again. No joke, I felt a slight pain in my right eye (my weak eye) and quickly put my glasses back on. Wow. Just WOW!

I wouldn't worry too much about who said what when, about who was first.

Truth is, most people in the US have never heard of Fatima from the past, or Medjugorje from the now. Just ask a few and it becomes obvious. We who ponder those things are thought of as being on the fringe.

I long for something to come to wake up the masses, before it is too late, before the end comes.

The other strange thing I have noticed regarding the sun - something I became aware of at as early as the year 2000 or so, is that sunlight is no longer warm and golden. Nowadays, it has a harsh whiteness about it. Sort of hard to put into words, but perceptible nonetheless.

I doubt that the Judaic observance of Day of Atonement has anything to do with the tremendous signs of Our Lady of Fatima's centennial except as a counter-example.

Benjamin Freedman who converted to the Roman Catholic faith from Judaism remembered the Day of Atonement in many of his speeches warning the United States. Here is an excerpt: "When on the Day of Atonement you walk into a synagogue, the very first prayer you recite, you stand - and it is the only prayer for which you stand - and you repeat three times a short prayer: the Kol Nidre. In that prayer you enter into an agreement with God Almighty that any oath, vow or pledge that you make during the next twelve months - shall be null and void. "The oath shall not be an oath. The vow shall not be a vow. The pledge shall not be a pledge. These shall have no force or effect..." And further to that, the Talmud teaches: "Don't forget - whenever you take an oath, make a vow or a pledge - remember the Kol Nidre prayer which you recited on the Day of Atonement and that exempts you from fulfilling that."
http://www.sweetliberty.org/issues/israel/freedman.htm

In other words a contract with God to lie and deceive.

This is an exact example of what our Lord Jesus Christ meant in his statements to the Pharasees: "you revoke the word of God and make it to none effect by your traditions." Matt 15.6

These words are spoken against what in the New Testament is called 'the Tradition of the Elders' - the infiltration of Pharisaism (a Babylonian counterfeit) into the traditions and law of the Covenants of Abraham, Moses and David etc. The Talmud was not written down in those days, then it was oral, a rabbinic tradition: the Torah She Ba'al Peh. It was written down as the Babylonian Talmud at Yavneh after the destruction of the Herodian temple.

Judaism as it is known an practised today is actually a redaction of the ancient covenant faith and traditions of Israel. It is younger than Christianity and based exclusively on the Pharisaic 'traditions of the elders'.

I don't like to appeal much to unapproved private revelations. But this might be important, and it doesn't bode well. At the end of the eclipse yesterday, there was a 4.0 magnitude deadly earthquake at Ischia, Italy. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-41007613 This is the site of alleged Marian apparitions dating back to 1994, which appear to have not only foretold the events of 9/11, but the seers also experienced a vision of a huge volcanic eruption very similar to what Sr. Lucia experienced in 1944. A short sampling from Spirit Daily:
"Allegedly, the Virgin at times spoke in languages unknown to the girls -- German, English, and Aramaic, the latter an ancient language of Israel -- and in addition to showing them how the two buildings would collapse, granted Simona Patalano the vision of a volcano erupting in the future on an unidentified island. The girl said she was shown the eruption of lava, people attempting in vain to flee, and the island disappearing beneath the ocean."
I wrote about these apparitions in connection with the threat from La Palma back in 2012:

Bridget,

I posted that article on this blog. However since I am reading how meaningless my information is, I am thinking that the article was bypassed as not worthy to read. It seems it might be difficult for some to find relevance to information that is a step ahead of the blog's thinking.

Emmett O'Regan said...

Thanks for reminding us about St Januarius' blood Bridget! I think that this is very important. We will have to look into this further. If anyone else has info on this please share.
Chris, you have made several important contributions here, which have shaped my thought to a significant degree. It was you who brought my attention to the fact that Pastor Biltz was "borrowing" my hypotheses on the Nineveh eclipses. Without people like you bringing various bits of important information to my attention, I would never be able operate on any significant level.
The contributors here in the com box are invaluable to me, and many of you have led me to lines of reasoning that I would never have come by otherwise. It helps me a lot that most of you are also experts in the field of Catholic prophecy, and I always pay attention to the way the wind is blowing, since it is there we find the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
However, I find it is very discouraging when some individuals find conflict with one another here, especially when some of the ones at the blunt end have made long standing important contributions. I don't mind reasoned debate, which can be very constructive. But we should all be aware of the trap of social media, which can cause many Catholics to act in ways contrary to how they would treat others in real life. We are all friends here. Let's treat each other that way.

Ooops. My apologies, chris! I just couldn't remember where I had read that : /

"The people of America need to repent"

Ouch. The *unrepentant* people of the *whole world* are called to repent - have always been. Since Abraham.

Do you know that the Spirit has not worked powerfully in our nation, or how you are judging that we aren't deeply repentant and our conversion well under way as directed by God. The hearts you can't see from way over the pond, at least. We pray and repent heavily in our country Emmett. Hearts can't be viewed online.

If you only want to use the internet and numbers and polls as judge, then compare us to most of Europe. In some of those countries there isn't even a single seminarian this year.

If we take the blessing of God by the number of priests, seminarians, vocations...then it is most of the rest of the world (outside of Africa) which is being given a sign by God to repent much more than the clouded-over eclipse. The eclipse which was set in motion the moment the universe was created. It was not going to not happen based on this countries current moral state (as being judged on this blog). Indeed, most of the nation wasn't able to even see it.

What wasn't already set in motion the moment the universe was created is the current moral state of the world's peoples. Can we not read more accurate prophetic signs in the blessings being given, or withheld? Famines, diseases, plagues, collapse in priests, wars - aren't these a better compass than the moon events which have been scheduled for millions of years, like a clock ticking? If we use those barometers, couldn't we say the Middle Eastern countries are the ones in far greater need of repentance?

If we were called to judge that way, at least.

One can read the prophetic love of God when a flower opens in the morning.

And when it closes in the evening, one can feel the coldness of love's lack.

Anonymous said...

Indeed. To that point - if we had repented, would the eclipse not have occurred?

Using celestial events like that let's us know which nations will be called to repent for the next million years - every one the moon eclipses.

Reading God's intentions this way leaves him no choice in the matter.

Sr. Marianne Lorraine Trouve said...

I saw some of the partial eclipse of the sun; we used the glasses and one of the sisters made an old-fashioned cardboard box with the pinhole. It was fun but I started to ponder how a perfectly natural phenomenon could be prophetic. I don't think it is in itself; yes there could be something about the timing that makes it more significant.
I'm reading Pope Benedict's recent interview in book form, and he said that he thought it significant that he was born on Holy Saturday. In some way it shaped him, that his whole being was affected by it. That's very beautiful and I can relate. Because I was born on the Immaculate Conception, my life has had a Marian dimension from the very beginning. Natural events can affect us spiritually.
So what about the eclipse? Perhaps it is that though it's natural in itself, the timing, or the way it unfolded, the location, could give it a greater significance at this point in our history. It struck me that millions of people all across our nation were looking intently at the sky yesterday. The Book of Revelation speaks of "a great sign" appearing in the heavens. Even if people are not looking spiritually, they are doing something right, so to speak. They are headed in the right direction, looking up. One newspaper headline said "United in a heavenly bond." For them, it was natural, but God could use that to build something deeper.

Emmett, my family and I traveled 1800 miles round trip to get to the totality zone for the eclipse. My husband had looked forward to it this for at least 5 yrs. It was very exciting in the morning of the 21st. Many travelers were driving into Idaho in the predawn hours. I will not soon forget the beauty of the sunrise. As for the eclipse itself, it was stunning! There is no video or photo that can depict the beauty of it. The cooling caused by the eclipse was rather surprising to me, it was definitely cooler. Also we could see other stars or planets during totality at midday. It may just be me, but it seems like there is an anticipation in the air of something big. God bless you and all your readers.

I also wanted to add that your theory is getting main-stream media coverage in Canada via Pastor Biltz and Jim Bakker's "borrowing" of your ideas (albeit in an unfortunately mocking nature, but regardless of the way the media is presenting it, it's still getting your ideas out to a very large audience, which I think is a good thing!).

Jason R. said...

Though there are very admittedly countries much more in need if repentance than the US, perhaps Our Lord and Our Lady are calling America to repent in a special way because of the unique position they hold in world affairs through their great cultural, economic and military power. While after the wars of Bush and extrajudicial killings that accelerated under Obama with the number if drone attacks amped up, some could argue without dye process of law, America is to many other countries that "City on a Hill" that President Reagan referred to in 1980. I'm reminded 9f when I was a very angry and confused going man, thinking I had gotten a raw deal becasuse if my spinal injury, having bipolar disorder, suffering from symptoms of PTSD from an abusive father and sexual molestation by a Luthern minister, etc., I thought I was being somehow punished by Our Lord in a way I felt was unfair. But my wise mother told me that Our Lord never puts more on our proverbial plate than we can handle, pointing out how some of God's mist trusted and baked servants were "victim souls", so looking with that perspective, if God gives us many challenges we should take than as a compliment, for utvsgows He really believes in us.

Similarly, a call for America to specifically repent may wirk in the same way, and I don't mean to invoke American exceptionlism or Manifest adestinyvor any of that, but of that vast potential America has to lead by example in the world... in the OT scriptures IT was the nation of Israel that was most often called to repentance over their neighbours who were seemingly in much more need of it, but that was becayse Gid had chisen yhen to br a light unto the world, and how it is said, to whom much is given much is expected... Ireland i think is another example if a people that going to the Faith through some of the worse hardships any people's had ever had inexperience, but because of that (the last years in Ireland possibly excepted) they are a model of the Church in persecution but still keeping the Faith.

So I wontvlook at Amer8ca as being picked on by Our Lord in a particular calling for that nation to reoentvso much as being picked "for"; wouldn't an America that somehow ended the scourge if Abortion, took particularly good care if the weakest link in the great chain of American society, etc. Serve as the most powerful example, a model for other countries and proposed out planet to follow?

Bridget said...

I think that's a good point- not wanting to hastily attach prophetic significance to natural phenomena. But I wonder if we earthlings are taking certain natural phenomena, like total eclipses, for granted? Check out this brief article reminding us how unique the phenomenon actually is.

http://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2017/08/14/542700588/why-future-earthlings-wont-see-total-solar-eclipses

Before I started reading up on eclipeses in preparation for the American Eclipse, I really didn't think much of them. I just knew they were a rare occurance. I had no idea how unique it was to our solar system (and possibly the universe, who knows).

I mean really- what are the odds that the moon is 400 times smaller than the sun, but just so happens to be 400 times closer to earth?! But the moon hasn't always looked this size...

"So actually for billions of years you can have a total eclipse, but this very evenly matched eclipse, where it is barely total, that happens for a relatively short amount of time,"

It's interesting that the article uses the phrase "cosmic coincidence" and "perfect kind of magic." For the faithful reading this article, I think it's loud and clear that the eclipse phenomenon is a special gift from God to humanity.

I wish I could explain better how incredible totality really is compared to partial. I think it was on CBS Sunday Morning last week where a scientist described it this way... on a scale of 1 to 10, a partial eclipse is about a 3 or 4. A total eclipse is a million. It's so true. I could see how the novelty of a partial eclipse would wear off quickly and even become "boring." But I was with a group of people viewing the total eclipse yesterday who were mostly non-religious, and the three who I got to talk to afterward all used the same phrase "life changing." One of them is a very angry fallen away Catholic. Now, how exactly "life changing" will translate for each of them personally, I don't know. It's just obvious that it will never be forgotten.

If you listen to Pastor Cioccolanti's interpretation of the signum magnum (Apoc 12:1-6) it is clear that he is fixated upon the empire state of the NWO: Israel.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XA6JcY-ikec

The Church is the Israel of God (Galatians 6:16). The Lord Jesus Christ has fulfilled/will fulfil all the Law and the prophets of the ancient Covenants of Israel. The New Covenant embraces both those descended from the Patriarchs of the ancient Covenants and the Gentile who are 'grafted in'. In the New Covenant, the Circumcision avails nothing, uncircumcision avails nothing. What matters is the new creation in Christ.

The Protestants are Judeo-Christians. They are interpreting the entry of Jupiter: the king planet into Virgo (Nov 2016), its 9 month retrograde and transit from Virgo (Sept 23 2017) as Israel giving birth to the Messiah at the time of His Advent. That is the general meaning. But they refuse to acknowledge that ancient Israel, its Messianic House and lineage of David narrowed down to one person: the Blessed Virgin.

This of course is censored from the Protestant message in relation to the astronomy of Apoc 12.1 sign. So even the part of the signum magnum that looks back to the birth of Christ they are having trouble getting into focus.

Without the Marian doctrines of the Catholic Church, however, it is not going to be possible to read the astronomy and the scriptures together. For in Apoc 12, the Woman clothed with the sun is in labour and crying out to give birth. On the face of it, this would seem to be problematic because the Blessed Virgin was herself conceived Immaculate. She does not have the inheritance of sin from Adam upon whose human nature the Divine benediction was pronounced, a human nature marred by sin.

So how to read into sign of the Virgin the part about the Adamic inheritance which goes 'in sorrow and pain thou shalt bring forth children' to which Apoc 12 clearly refers? Unless. This is a sign of a birth that relates to the body of Christ and not the mystical Head, who through his mother, assumed an Immaculate human nature - not the human nature marred by sin.

The Apoc 12 sign speaks of the birth of a king in the lineage of Christ the king
( a member of His body ) with whom the Virgin travails (so he has the Adamic human nature marred by sin / restored in Christ). And he is to rule all nations with the rod of iron (which stands for Rome - in the succession of empires Rome was the legs of iron as seen by the prophet Daniel). And his rule 'is caught up to God and to his throne' - in the heavens. There is only one type of monarch which matches these details.

Our Lord, Himself is the cornerstone of the Church's foundation in the Apostles and the Prophets. The Petrine Office and succession was uniquely set upon Himself, the cornerstone upon earth and his throne in the heavens.

The great sign of Apoc 12.1 speaks of a pope for whom our Lady travails in birth and the restoration of the papacy and the Church. The Protestants are reading it as modern day Israel, the Jews, bringing the Messiah in his second coming. Whereas our Lord clearly told the Jews: "Another will come in my name and him ye shall receive." John 5.43.

Jason R. said...

"And he is to rule all nations with the rod of iron (which stands for Rome - in the succession of empires Rome was the legs of iron as seen by the prophet Daniel)."

Would this be expected to be a rule *from* Rome (something that the Church could obviously claim), or one that approximates the *most area* that the former Roman empire ruled over (e.g. The Ottoman Empire at its zenith seems to be one which incorporated the largest amount of land that the provinces of the ancient Roman empire ruled over)?

Anonymous said...

The reference is to Psalm 2:8-9. The Father is speaking to the Son who is now enthroned in heaven:

"Ask of me and I will make the nations your inheritance
and the ends of the earth your possession
You will break them with a rod of iron
and dash them to pieces like pottery"

In the great commission, Our Lord commanded his Apostles: "Go ye therefore into all nations and proclaim this Gospel of the kingdom. He who believes will be saved. He who believes not will be condemned." And "This Gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed to every nation and then the end will come."

The judgement seat of the world is set up by the proclamation of the Evangel. It is to be established in all nations.

The prophet Daniel saw the passage of the aion and the succession of empires that would come forth and pass away in their time. The empire of Rome was the legs of the great image of Nebochadnezzar's dream. Rome was the successor to Alexander's Empire which essentially morphed into classical Rome of the Caesars. From Rome, the iron empire, came law, administration, jurisprudence and governance that passed as a legacy to Nova Roma of Constantine when the empire was converted to Christianity. Byzantium succeeded it when the whole of the Christian East fell to the sword of Islam. And then the Holy Roman Empire inherited this legacy because the nations of the Western empire converted to Christianity and Constantinople fell. These nations crowned our Lord as king. They placed the government - the government of their Roman (iron) legacy upon his shoulders and founded their social order upon the Church.

And the seat of the Petrine Office has been Rome since the first century A.D. Hence: rod or sceptre of iron denoting the Roman legacy.

The throne and altar of every nation of the former HRE has now been overturned on the Reformation and the Revolution inaugurated 1789. But the Visegrads look to crown Him again: Hungary, Poland, the Chech Republic and Slovakia. Ukraine may well follow suit and throw off the ZOG gov't imposed by the Western led Maidan insurgency in 2014. Russia will crown Him again and more than crown Him - Russia will come into the Church founded upon the Rock. Our Lady specifically has asked for the consecration of Russia.

The new caliphate is shaping up through Turkey very fast. And it will form the crescent around the empire state of the NWO (the Islamic Turkic /ancient Hittite co-ethnics )which in the Bible are given by the names of their patriarchs: Magog, Khenaz (Ashkhenaz) etc.

The Empire of the City (of London on the sq mi) rules all the ZOGs and indeed financed the Bolshevik Revolution, the Maoist Revolution and took over the US through its Fed Reserve subsidiary in 1913. Its empire state is the star of the emerging caliphate/crescent.

An essential text for our time is the work of professor Anthony Sutton: Wall Street and the Rise of Hitler; Wall Street and the Bolshevik Revolution - listen to his videos on youtube and read his books while you still can.

The Visegrads and Russia will show forth the great sign in the heavens Sept 23 2017 as projected to the ground. They are set to contend with GOG - its little horn power of the NWO and the ZOGs.

Here's their usual display of the tribal gods in The City

Chris - A suggestion: As a general rule, I don't read anonymous comments. If someone can't take the time to even make up a name, then I'm not going to take the time to read what they say. You might want to do that as well. Don't sweat what they say otherwise.

It's Emmett's living room, so we come here and try not to drink all his beer and turn over his furniture. But ultimately, he's the only one you have to impress in order to stay.

Bridget said: "I think that's a good point - not wanting to hastily attach prophetic significance to natural phenomena."

Granted, but for two points. And this is aimed not at Bridget but at other naysayers.

First off, I think we are all far to conditioned to automatically look to science for answers to everything these days. Science seeks to remove the mystical form the natural world, so it is abjectly incapable of answering questions dealing the supernatural and is unqualified to answer questions dealing with supernatural mystery. Science can NEVER give us a mathematical formula to define the Eucharist. Neither can science go beyond the physicality of an eclipse. It's simply beyond the calling of science to see anything more than the physical.

The second point plays off the first - the times dictate the curiosity about this particular eclipse and the one that follows in 2024. If it weren't for all of the profound anniversaries and the astronomical associations with Revelation 12 that are currently in the works, then this eclipse would be nothing more than an natural event.

And I don't think anyone here is saying that this eclipse, or the astronomical events upcoming, or the anniversaries, or even the state of the world as it is today - I don't see anyone saying that this is absolutely the end and it absolutely reflects...something. What we're saying is that this is part of the signs of the times that we're supposed to be watching.

Here's a more modern translation of Genesis 1:14 - And God said, “Let there be lights in the vault of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark sacred times, and days and years, 15 and let them be lights in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth.”

Signs to mark sacred times.

(From the Vulgate: et sint in signa et tempora et dies et annos. And let them be for signs and seasons and days and years.)

Science can't see the sun as anything more than a thermonuclear oven held together by gravity. Yet at Fatima it danced in the sky. If you can extend your faith sufficiently to accept Fatima, why not at least look at the possibility that an eclipse might be more than just an orbital event? I just don't get it.

Emmett,

See what you can make of this. Spirit Daily again. Apparently the visionaries are still receiving messages? Simona as recently as July 26th...

Looks like quite a bit of information was unloaded during the most recent alleged apparitions...

“My daughter, please pray together … (While praying together with Mama, she showed me scenes of abominations, wars, violence, and facades of churches that collapsed. Then I saw the Holy Father, Pope Francis, was in kneeling in front of Jesus and praying intensely.)
Finally Mother said to me: “I heal and kiss my pilgrims, and I especially bless the priests here.”
“In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.”

Sadly a woman was killed in the earthquake Monday night by a section of a church that collapsed on her.

But three children were miraculously saved when found under rubble in a near by village

https://www.google.com/amp/s/mobile.nytimes.com/2017/08/22/world/europe/italy-ischia-earthquake.amp.html

Also interesting that St. Michael with his spear and shield was seen next to Mary as well...

Message of June 26 given to Angela

This afternoon Mamma came across dressed in white. Even the mantle she had on her head and wrap it was white. Her chest had a heart of flesh surrounded by thorns. She had a queen crown on her head, in her right hand a long white crown of light that came almost down to her feet. Under her feet was a long water course. To the right of Momma there was St. Michael the Archangel, like a great leader, with a long spear in his right hand and on his left a large shield.
Mother was sad.
“Praised be Jesus Christ

?????????

I know this isn't approved, but like Emmett said, seems important...

Emmett O'Regan said...

Thanks for noting that St. Michael's lance Bridget. Ok, these apparitions aren't approved, and are currently under investigation. But the fact that this earthquake took place at this particular location during the total solar eclipse seems to be a massive sign that God wants us to pay attention to these apparitions. It makes discernment somewhat easier. Fatima wasn't approved at one point as well.
St. Michael holding a lance in that vision reminds me of the escutcheon of Tenerife which I wrote about last year, concerning Mount Tiede, which is associated with the Isles of the Blessed in Greek mythology. St. Michael is also depicted with a shield on that. Mount Tiede also experienced signs of coming to life last October. The lance bit is very similar to Sr. Lucia's 1944 vision.

Another quick thought. This was pulled from that message on July 26th as well

“Children, it is no longer a question of futile questions and requests, it is a time of prayer, prayer made with the heart, sincere and honest prayer made with love."

I immediately thought of the constant debate about the consecration of Russia. I know Cardinal Burke caused some controversy back in may when he requested the consecration again.

Just my initial thoughts

End Times as the Days of Noah
In Matthew 24 and Luke 17, Jesus gave us a clear warning and indication of what this world would be like near the time of His second coming. Looking forward to the time just before His return, Christ saw the scene of this world and it was a mirror of what it was like back in both Noah's and Lot's day.

Matthew 24:37-39 ...'But as the days of Noah were,

so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.'

A modest contribution, dear Emmett. I noticed a few things this last year or so: there are a few coincidences between the Jewish and Christian religious calendars. The first day of Hanukkah fell on Christmas 2016, then the start of Noah's Flood (17 Iyyar) fell on May 13, 2017 (Fatima) and now Yom Kippur falls on September 29 (St Michael's). I am sure there are some other coincidences although I cannot fathom their meaning. Greetings!

When I started reading Emmett's blog, I think I came in around the time lots of discussion was going on about the mother of god forum. I hope this isn't too much of a point of contention, but I thought I'd post the link to their Ischia apparition thread anyway. Looks like a few people made attempts at translating lots of the messages from the last couple of years.

Here is a Our Lady of Zaro site that has all the messages since 1995. The only Problem is that it is in Italian or Germa or French. I cannot figure out how to translate it to English.

Emmett O'Regan said...

Just run that through Google translate, Rick.
I didn't realise there were so many messages. So caution is definitely needed. I have no idea what's in them. If there are any theological errors, they should be held at arms length. A positive sign is that they haven't been condemned after 24 years. Claims of apparitions which contain theological errors are usually condemned by the Church quite quickly.
I've always said that if God wants us to pay attention to a particular private revelation before they can be approved by the Church, He provides extraordinary signs.
I might be wrong, and would appreciate if someone else can double-check this for me, but it seems that this earthquake struck Ischia towards the end of the eclipse, at 6.57 GMT. The path of totality ended on land in South Carolina at around 7.44 GMT.
So in the final moments of an eclipse that appears to announce a possible chastisement on America, an earthquake occurred on an island which is the site of an alleged Marian apparition which foretold the events of 9/11 and the collapse of an island into the sea following a volcanic eruption. I would call this an extraordinary sign.

Emmett O'Regan said...

The patron saint of Ischia is St. John Joseph of the Cross, who was born on the island on the Solemnity of the Assumption, 15th August 1654 (the start of St. Michael's Lent). Apparently he made many, many prophecies. I'll have to try to dig these out, and would appreciate any help. Some of his miracles were associated with St. Januarius.

The Church that was destroyed during the earthquake was the Church of San Michele (St. Michael), better known as the Church of Purgatory.

Apparently, there was an inscription above the doorway in Latin, which gave it the name "Church of Purgatory":
Quos purgans ignis cruciat his hell levamen exoptans Agnellus D'Ascia usque parí Templum, quos haec rura tenent hanc extulit aedem tortisque and fiamma elatis purgante dicavit.

This blog states that there are two messages given each month. The last one seemed to focus on the sign of the Woman clothed with the sun, and the scroll held by Our Lady appears to be related to the scroll sealed with seven seals described in the Apocalypse (the opening of which was announced at Knock). The next message to be given is on 26th August:

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) collects data on every earthquake globally, no matter how small. The USGS website has all the details. Their time stamp for the earthquake looks like this:

2017-08-21 18:57:51 UTC

The earthquake was centered 4km North of Ischia, Italy

Magnitude: 4.2

NASA tracked the eclipse itself. According to their website, the eclipse left the continental US landmass NE of Charleston, South Carolina. The end of the eclipse on US soil was at 18:48:59.3 UTC.

So it ended on US soil about 9 minutes before the earthquake in Italy.

Just for grins, I extended the line of the eclipse on the NASA site to 18:57:51 UTC to match the earthquake. At that point, the nearest US landfall was almost exactly 200 miles away, so the totality of the eclipse was 200 miles offshore when the earthquake took place.

If you're so inclined, you can take this a bit further, but this is likely reading too much into the situation. The eclipse was in the area of 76.1572 degrees west at the time of the earthquake. If you extend the line north along that longitude, the eclipse was due south of a point half way between Washington and Philadelphia - the current capitol of the United States and the first capitol. It's actually a point just southwest of where the Susquehanna empties into Chesapeake Bay. Fun facts, you never thought you'd need!

Thanks for that info Mark W! This really does seem quite remarkable. 9 minutes after the eclipse ends, we have this earthquake at an alleged apparition site announcing an impending chastisement. One of the last messages of which gives a description of St. Michael which perfectly matches the escutcheon of Tenerife, right down to the shield and lance. There was also mention of the facades of churches collapsing. And the Church that was destroyed was one dedicated to St. Michael. I didn't mention this in the blog post itself, since I thought it was a side issue, but I used the above painting of St. Benedict and the vision of an eclipse because I thought that the destruction of the Monastery of St. Benedict at Norcia last year on 30th October was also a prophetic sign amidst a cluster of such signs last October. These included an earthquake swarm at Mount Teide in Tenerife, which I think began on 5th October (the volcano depicted in said escutcheon) and another lightning strike on St. Peter's Basilica on 7th October, the Feast of the Holy Rosary.

The eclipse of 21 August also occurred on the feast day of Pope St Pius X.

"We must reiterate with the utmost energy in these times of social and intellectual anarchy when everyone takes upon himself to teach as a teacher and lawmaker - the City can not be built otherwise than as God has built it; society can not be set up unless the Church lays the foundations and supervises the work. So civilization is not something yet to be found, nor is the new City to be built on hazy notions. It has been in existence and still is: it is Christian civilisation. It is the Catholic City. It has only to be set up and restored continually against the unremitting attacks of insane dreamers, rebels and miscreants." Pope St Pius X
"Notre Charge Apostolique" (Our Apostolic Mandate) given in Rome August 15 1910: the beginning of St Michael's Lent.

Pope St Pius X is reiterating his support for Pope Leo XIII in his condemnation of heresies that deny the Church's social doctrines (specifically the kingship of Christ) in the civil domain. The consequence of this, writes Pope Leo, is the denial of the rights of God and the supernatural order. This heresy is called "Americanism" because the occasion of Pope Leo's Testem Benevolentiae Nostre to Cardinal James Gibbons was his (Pope Leo's) disapproval of the type of Catholicism that the Cardinal was endeavouring to establish in the United States; a Catholicism that was attempting to compromise the Catholic social doctrines with the false principles of the French Revolution which form the foundation of social order in the U.S. This is not a condemnation of America as such but the falsehoods introduced into the faith by prelates attempting to compromised with the principles of the French Revolution and the American founding. Principles that have now been ratified by the Vatican Council II when the Revolution (inaugurated 1789) succeeded at the level of the universal Church.

Gaudium et Spes was especially singled out for praiseworthy comment by the then Fr Joseph Ratzinger (a peritus of theologian Karl Rahner S.J. at the Council) who called it a "counter-syllabus of errors" and a "reconciliation with the world as it had become after 1789 (the French Revolution)"

The destruction of the Church of Purgatory appears to have some symbolism in itself. As St. Robert Bellarmine stated: "It is incontestably recognized since the foundation of Christianity that the souls of the faithful departed are delivered from Purgatory through the intercession of St. Michael the Archangel."

Is there a link to the actual prophecies of Our Lady of Zaro?

I've looked here:

http://www.madonnadizaro.it

But the prophecy section deals with 9/11. And to be honest, writing about a 2001 event in 2002 and claiming prophetic knowledge, well, that doesn't strike me full of confidence. And I'm quite leery of sites that call Our Lady, "Mamma".

But in skimming the site, I don't see anything specifically against Catholic teaching...at least, at a cursory glance.

Emmett O'Regan said...

Mark, if you look at the side-bar to the left hand side, you'll see a linked to the message archive. All the messages are there, from 1995 onwards. It seems that their Parish Priest has been keeping a record, and allowed the messages to be publicised after the events of 9/11. I'm scanning through them now to try to find the relevant early prophecies concerning 9/11 and the island falling into the sea. Let me know your thoughts. I don't want to be blogging about this unless I'm relatively certain they are legit. But it seems that I'm being compelled to, one way or another. It's now the elephant in the room.

Emmett - if you're theory about cell phones is correct, would Our Lady approach someone through a cell phone?

Bridget said...

That was my thought exactly, Mark. But I was thinking about it, and I'm sure it's no coincidence that the photo landed in the hands of a young, tech-savvy priest. I checked out his profile with the original post of the photo and story. He seems like a hoot! From what I can tell though social media anyway. Young, energetic, with a refreshing sense of humor. The NYC cop could have gotten his answer about the image from another priest in person I suppose, and the story never would've gotten any traction. Like I said... this story is a doozy!

Emmett O'Regan said...

God can act in any way He choses. I don't think there is anything inherently evil about cell phones in themselves. It's the narcissistic use of this technology and its potential to corrupt innocents which makes it so dangerous.
