The Russian Patriarch on the Antichrist and the World Wide Web

Rather amazingly, Patriarch Kirill, the leader of the Russian Orthodox Church, has basically confirmed the theory I present in my book concerning the dangers of the World Wide Web in relation to the appearance of the Antichrist. Below is a report taken from The Daily Telegraph:

The Russian Orthodox patriarch has warned that the popularity of smartphones is paving the way for the coming of the Antichrist.
In an interview on state television for Russian Orthodox Christmas on Monday, Patriarch Kirill warned that the widespread use of gadgets connected to the Internet has opened the possibility for “universal control over humanity”. The “devil acts very wisely” in offering people such a “toy”, he said.
"Such control from one place forebodes the coming of the Antichrist,” Patriarch Kirill said. “The Antichrist is the person that will be at the head of the world wide web controlling all of humanity. That means that the structure itself poses a danger. There shouldn't be a single centre, at least not in the foreseeable future, if we don't want to bring on the apocalypse."
The patriarch maintained he wasn't categorically against gadgets, but warned that people should be careful not to “fall into slavery to what's in your hands”.
(See here for the full article.)

Even though Patriarch Kirill does not explicitly mention anything to do with the link between www and the number 666 in Hebrew gematria, there are clearly quite strong suggestions that the leader of the Russian Orthodox Church is a lot more informed on this subject than he is revealing on the surface. His remarkable claims are clearly based on something much more deeper than a mere "gut instinct" reacting against the dangers of modern technology.

I go into the link between the number of the beast and the letters www using Hebrew gematria in some considerable depth in my book Unveiling the Apocalypse: The Final Passover of the Church, and I even studied the Hebrew language at university level in order to better grasp the significance of this connection. My theory on this subject received the support of the late Catholic theologian Stratford Caldecott, whose studies also concentrated on the Apocalypse and Hebrew gematria. Stratford, whose work is widely lauded by many Catholic intellectuals, cited my theory in his book All Things Made New: The Mysteries of the World in Christ (Angelico/Sophia Perennis, 2011) and he alludes to my theories in several blog posts (see here and here for example). A whole issue of Humanum Review in which Stratford both edited and contributed to was based around the dangers of the internet and modern technology (see here).

In my book, I argue that given that we already have the very real possibility that all future commerce will be conducted electronically through smartphones, we don't need to look any further than this recent technological development to find the fulfilment of the prophecy of the "mark" of the beast. Given the fact that this prophecy was deliberately formulated as an antithetical parallelism of the Jewish practice of wearing phylacteries - small boxes containing pieces of Scripture worn on the forehead and arms, we can dispense with the more popular idea that this prophecy will only be fulfilled when the world's governments start forcing their populace to accept RFID microchip implants in order to participate in electronic commerce.

When I first developed this theory during a Hebrew class in 2005, the possibility that all future commerce would be conducted through smartphone devices was only a distant and somewhat abstract thought. Now that the use of smartphones in this capacity is an already widespread practice, we can clearly see this as rapidly approaching reality.

This doesn't mean that we should all collectively abandon our technological devices and suddenly retreat to self-sustaining farms in the countryside. It is only during the coming of the Antichrist that this technology will be exploited as a means of systematic control, as was pointed out by Patriarch Kirill. I have already argued extensively elsewhere that the time of the Antichrist is not imminent, since the period of the restoration of the Church foretold by many Catholic saints and mystics has to occur before the appearance of the Man of Sin. But given the non-neutral aspect of such technology, we must acknowledge that there are inherent dangers already built into the use of these devices, such as the corruption of childhood innocence, the use of explicit images to blackmail and peer pressure/psychological abuse on social media contributing to higher suicide rates, etc.

Now that the inherent dangers of the use of the world wide web and smartphone technology as a means of totalitarian control has been spelled out by one of the most important Church leaders in Christianity, it is surely only a matter of time before the Roman Catholic Pontiff will have to properly address this exact subject in a magisterial document. Patriarch Kirill has obviously carefully considered this rather controversial assessment of the risks of modern technology, and if an eventual consensus among Church leaders begins to develop on this issue in a similar vein, we could very well expect that its use will be condemned at some point in the future, when it becomes fully evident that the Antichrist will harness it as a means of control.

Below is some material on this subject that I have recycled from an older blog post:

I recently received a comment on the post A Cashless Society - Closer than you may think... which requires a rather lengthy answer, so I thought I would post it on the main section of the blog so that everyone can read. It concerns the primary argument I forward in my book Unveiling the Apocalypse - which attempts to show how the prophecy of the mark of the Beast may have already been fulfilled in the advent of internet-enabled mobile phones. The answer to the question below addresses a number of points that have been raised recently, mostly by people asking that if the prophecy of the mark of the Beast has already been fulfilled, then what are the direct spiritual implications of using these devices now in the present. The original question is given below:

OK--this is my question. If the Mark of the Beast is the cell phone as you say... well... aren't we all now under the mark of the Beast? (Or most of us. I actually don't have a cell phone--but I use a computer!) Aren't we all being decieved now? And does this mean we are putting our salvation in jeopardy if we use one? This is just not clear to me why using a cell phone (and I understand it's not quite up to the sophisticated level you are explaining on your blog--but it's coming along with a cashless society) is somehow sinister and evil. I understand the lack of interaction with people although that's happening now. Families are falling apart, sin is rampant... it's here already!
I also understand that your every move can be detected by someone by these devices, but we're really not that far from that now also. So... I need something to see how spiritualy this sophisticated cell phone Mark of the Beast is going to make me lose the salvation of my soul. Thanks for the interesting blog.

The most fundamental question raised above is that if the mark of the Beast has been fulfilled in the advent of cell phones, then how could the use of mobile phones cause spiritual harm? To answer this, we first need to deconstruct the question itself. The quite reasonable objection that it "is just not clear to me why using a cell phone... is somehow sinister and evil", can just as easily apply to receiving a microchip implant as the mark of the Beast. The word "cell phone" (underlined above) can justifiably be replaced with the word "microchip implant", to form the statement "is just not clear to me why using a microchip implant... is somehow sinister and evil" - since the same logic applies to both. The sole difference is that we have become psychologically conditioned over the past twenty years (since the theory was first introduced) to envision the reception of a microchip implant as the mark of the Beast. This conditioning has generated a considerable amount of fear around the act of receiving a microchip implant itself, to the point where this act has become inextricably equated with the reception of the mark of the Beast, and no other possible fulfilments of this prophecy have been considered. In fact the focus has been concentrated on microchip implants so much that it has blinded the vast majority of Christians to considering any alternatives, allowing for the implementation of the prophecy to be "sneaked through the back door" in a manner which is much more consistent with how the mark of the Beast would have been conceived by Jewish Christians in the first century AD - i.e. as a diabolical inversion of the practise of wearing phylacteries - physical objects bearing the name of God which were only worn temporarily during prayer services. But both the cell phone and the postulated future microchip implant are merely pieces of technology, and both are therefore essentially the same thing. The difference resides solely in how they are worn - if you were to somehow shrink a cell phone and pop it under the skin on your hand it would basically be a much more highly sophisticated version of a "mircochip implant".

One of the primary psychological factors which has enabled the mircochip implant to be perceived as the mark of the Beast is that it is a more permanent mark, and there is also a certain fear over the bodily intrusion this would cause - as if it would be like some form of technological parasite. Over time, the equation of the mark of the Beast with its original inspiration in the Jewish practise of wearing phylacteries was forgotten by Christians, as they became more distanced from their Judaic roots. This led to the development of a more literal conception of the mark of the Beast as the actual number 666 being branded or tattooed onto the subjects of the Antichrist - and these forms of brandishings are permanent and indelible marks. So gradually, the mark became considered to be permanent, and when the barcode hypothesis surfaced in the early 1980's after the publication of Mary Stewart Relfe's books When Your Money Fails and The New Money System, which was then combined with the RFID implant theory by Peter Lalonde in his 1991 book One World Under Anti-Christ, this appeared to provide a solution as to how the Antichrist could covertly brandish his subjects with a permanent mark that would be necessary in order to engage in commerce. This idea was then wildly popularised by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins' bestselling Left Behind series, and has since become so deeply entrenched in Christian apocalyptic thought that it is almost impossible to grasp any other alternative way in which this prophecy could be fulfilled.

Yet the advent of non-intrusive biometric mapping (which is already being rolled out en masse in India) renders the use of RFID implants for identification purposes completely redundant. The use of iris and fingerprint scanning by the inbuilt camera in smartphones is already being touted as the most effective way of safeguarding NFC transactions from taking place through a stolen phone (see here). By using biometrics, the smartphone would automatically scan your iris or fingerprint before allowing any transactions to take place, bypassing the need for PIN codes.

When we look to the original practise that the prophecy of the mark of the Beast was based on, we find that phylacteries are physical box-shaped objects worn externally on the person, and they are only used temporarily. The idea of tiny objects containing barcodes being inserted under the skin (so that they would effectively be invisible), would have been extremely foreign to the mind of the original author of the Apocalypse. On a symbolic level, the mark of the Beast was meant to be understood as an open, fully visible display of allegiance to the Beast, just as the practice of wearing phylacteries was a public show of allegiance to God. This is why some Jews indulged in "keeping up with the Jones'" type behaviour, wearing ever bigger and more elaborate phylacteries to show that they honoured God more than anyone else - a practise which was condemned by Jesus:

They do all their deeds to be seen by others. For they make their phylacteries broad and their fringes long, and they love the place of honor at feasts and the best seats in the synagogues and greetings in the marketplaces and being called rabbi by others.
(Matt 23:5-7)

There is nothing in the original Greek text of the Book of Revelation which would suggest that the mark of the Beast would be worn invisibly inside the hand. In fact we find the complete opposite. The original Greek of the Apocalypse concerning the mark of the Beast reads "ἵνα δῶσιν αὐτοῖς χάραγμα ἐπὶ τῆς χειρὸς αὐτῶν τῆς δεξιᾶς" "hina dosin autois charagma epi tes cheiros auton tes dexias". The word epi used here has the primary meaning of "upon" or "on", giving the meaning of "on" or "upon" their "right hand", rather than "inside" (which would require the word mesa). Moreover, the word charagma, as well as meaning a "mark" or "stamp", can also be translated as "sculpture", or "graven image". The NAS Greek Lexicon gives the definition of the word charagma as follows:

  1. a stamp, an imprinted mark
  2. of the mark stamped on the forehead or the right hand as the badge of the followers of the Antichrist
  3. the mark branded upon horses
  4. thing carved, sculpture, graven work
    1. of idolatrous images
(See here).

And in the one of the other instances in which this word is used in the Bible, in the Book of Acts, we find that charagma is also used in the sense of "graven image".

Being then God's offspring, we ought not to think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stone, an image [chargama] formed by the art and imagination of man.
(Acts 17:29)

Also the word dosin "to give" is usually translated in the sense of the giving of an object, rather than branding with a mark. So the word we have translated into English as "mark" was quite probably originally intended to mean "graven image". Indeed this translation makes better sense in context with the earlier reference to the image of the Beast which is fashioned by the False Prophet:

It performs great signs, even making fire come down from heaven to earth in front of people, and by the signs that it is allowed to work in the presence of the beast it deceives those who dwell on earth, telling them to make an image for the beast that was wounded by the sword and yet lived.
And it was allowed to give breath to the image of the beast, so that the image of the beast might even speak and might cause those who would not worship the image of the beast to be slain.

(Rev 13:13-15)

The only difference being that the word used for "image" above is εἰκόνα eikona.
So the true translation of the passage concerning the "mark" or charagma of the Beast can just as easily be (and was most likely originally intended) as follows:

Also it causes all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave, to be given a graven image on the right hand or the forehead...
(Rev 13:16)

The significance of the mark being given in the "right hand" (dexias - from which we derive the word dexterity), could suggest that the "graven image" was in some way usable - as a tool for instance, since the vast majority of people are right-handed. And if the charagma of the Beast is to be directly identified with the image of the Beast fashioned by the inhabitants of the earth at the behest of the False Prophet in Rev 13:13-15, then we are informed that this graven image has the ability to speak, and would in some way lead to a persecution of the Church (to "cause those who would not worship the image of the Beast to be slain"). But those who remain steadfast during this trial to the point of martyrdom would eventually conquer the Beast, along with its image and the number of its name (which are directly linked here), through the reckoning of the seven bowl judgments:

And I saw what appeared to be a sea of glass mingled with fire—and also those who had conquered the beast and its image and the number of its name, standing beside the sea of glass with harps of God in their hands.
(Rev 15:2)

Furthermore, the "mark" or "graven image" of the Beast is presented in the Apocalypse as a parody of the sealing of the saints after the opening of the sixth seal in Rev 7. The first time the Seal of God is alluded to in the Apocalypse is in the letters to the seven churches of Asia Minor, which is described as a white stone with a name inscribed upon it - meaning that it is a physical object like the Jewish phylactery:

He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who conquers I will give some of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone, with a new name written on the stone that no one knows except the one who receives it.
(Rev 2:17)

We find that this theme of the sealing with a name recurs a number of times in the Apocalypse, and that it is parodied by the mark of the Beast, which is said to contain a number which represents the name of the Beast.

The one who conquers, I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God. Never shall he go out of it, and I will write on him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which comes down from my God out of heaven, and my own new name.
(Rev 3:12)

“Do not harm the earth or the sea or the trees, until we have sealed the servants of our God on their foreheads.” And I heard the number of the sealed, 144,000, sealed from every tribe of the sons of Israel...
(Rev 7:3-4)

Then I looked, and behold, on Mount Zion stood the Lamb, and with him 144,000 who had his name and his Father's name written on their foreheads.
(Rev 14:1)

On his robe and on his thigh he has a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords.
(Rev 19:16)

Also it causes all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave, to be marked on the right hand or the forehead, so that no one can buy or sell unless he has the mark, that is, the name of the beast or the number of its name. This calls for wisdom: let the one who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man, and his number is 666.
(Rev 13:16-18)

So once we examine the textual evidence, we find that the mark of the Beast is presented as a diabolical inversion of the Jewish practise of wearing phylacteries, which are worn in a manner to symbolically represent the name of God as El Shaddai. In addition, the original Greek wording can just as easily refer to a graven image, which directly links it to the image that the False Prophet deceives the inhabitants of the earth into constructing for themselves, just as the Israelites were deluded into fashioning the Golden Calf. The image which the False Prophet incites the people into constructing has the illusion of life, and also the ability to speak. It also contains the number of the Beast, which by using the process of Hebrew gematria, can also be used to determine the name of the Beast itself. And the Greek word for "beast" - therion, has the numerical value of 666 once transliterated into Hebrew.

The mark is also the demonic counterpart to white stone engraved with a name in Rev 2:17 - which is to be identified with the Seal of God given to the saints after the opening of the sixth seal in Rev 6. And the opening of the sixth seal, during which these acts of sealings takes place, is marked on earth by a series of astronomical and geophysical signs, including an earthquake, a total solar eclipse, a total lunar eclipse and a meteor shower - all of which occurred around the turn of the millennium at the exact moment of the marriage between cell phone technology and the worldwide web (www) with the introduction of WAP - which will allow for the future of commerce to be conducted solely through the www and mobile phones (see the post Signs in the Sky). In addition, some private revelations have suggested that the prophecy of the sealing of the saints took place during the turn of the millennium (see the post The Seal of God), and Fr Stefano Gobbi predicted that the prophecy of the mark of the Beast would be fulfilled in a time period which would begin in the year 1998 - which is 666 x 3 (see the post Fr Gobbi on the Mark of the Beast).

When we take into consideration that the three letter acronym for the worldwide web (through which all future commerce will be conducted via cell phones) - www, is the numerical equivalent of three sixes once transliterated into Hebrew (using the exact method which the number of the Beast was originally encoded - gematria), then we can conclude that the modern use of mobile phones fulfils every last aspect of the prophecy of the mark of the Beast (for additional information on the equation of www with 666 see the earlier post Hebrew 666?).

Like phylacteries, they are a physical object, temporarily worn externally on the person, and as the original Greek word charagma can suggest, they are a crafted object - or "graven image". In a further correlation to the image which the False Prophet causes the inhabitants of the earth to fashion, they have the appearance of life, and also the ability to speak.

So, in answer to the question if this means that we are "all now under the mark of the Beast?", then we would have to conclude, yes we are - and have been since the first merging of cell phone technology with the worldwide web in the year 1999 (which has a further symbolism in the fact that it resembles three sixes turned upside down - and this was the year after 1998, which is 3 x 666). I understand that this can be a frightening prospect, especially in light of the verses which appear to suggest that those who accepted the mark of the Beast would be eternally condemned to hell, but we have to take into consideration that there is also a symbolic layer to this prophecy which depicts those who have accepted the mark of the Beast as all the evil people who have ever lived - they represent "those whose name was not found written in the book of life" (Rev 20:15). So there is a certain amount of hyperbole included in these verses.

We have to remember that forgiveness is one of the cornerstones of Christianity. It would be extremely difficult to reconcile theodicy (the righteous of God) with the notion that someone would be eternally condemned to hell for accepting the mark of the Beast without any possibility of salvation, especially when they have been tricked into doing so.

Since this is a Catholic blog, I assume that the majority of the readers are of the same religion. As such, Catholics are required to believe that the keys to heaven and hell - the very means of salvation, reside solely in the papal magesterium - which is protected by the guidance of the Holy Spirit, especially so when speaking ex cathedra on matters of faith and morals. Whatever form it would take, the mark of the Beast would have to be formally identified as such by the Church before it could be considered to have any spiritual effects as to the destiny of the soul. Until it does so, think of the material presented here as the "case for the prosecution". So I don't believe that using cell phones will have any immediate spiritual effects until the Church reaches a formal decision on this matter. For now, as far as I'm aware, no one of any authority in the Church is aware of these arguments - so any decision on this subject appears to be very far off indeed.  So technically speaking (in theory at least), if you own one now (and the vast majority of the readers of this blog almost certainly do) it should be possible to continue using one until the Church issues a verdict itself.

For Protestants however, who adhere to sola scriptura, unfortunately there is no such protection offered - they would have to form their own decisions in the present.

As to the question concerning how the use of cell phones could be evil in itself - this is fairly simple to answer. If the cell phone can be definitely established by the Church as the fulfilment of this prophecy, this identification alone would make using it inherently evil - since it would be tantamount to accepting the mark of the Beast. There is nothing that would distinguish using a cell phone from accepting a RFID microchip implant - the sole difference being that a large number of Christians already expect the mark of the Beast to be the latter.

Yet the use of microchip implants seems to be positively morally benign compared to the propensity of the cell phone for evil purposes. The cell phone can be used as a medium to browse and upload material onto the www, viewing anything from violent and pornographic images, to arranging hook-ups with random strangers for sex. The lack of face-to-face social interaction often leads to a lack of inhibition and breaking of taboos.  A recent article in the Huffington Post has highlighted the increase in the trend of "sexting" (the sending of intimate photos to partners via cell phones) amongst teenagers - which are very often shared around school yards, and the resultant humiliation and bullying can in turn lead to suicide (see here). And paedophiles are exploiting this craze by pretending to be school children themselves, encouraging children to send them explicit photographs they have taken with their cell phones - which are then circulated around paedophile rings.

The use of mobile phones is changing the way we act and live; slowly breaking down social boundaries through desensitisation and deforming the concept of moral behaviour. A microchip implant could never achieve such a capacity for leading people into immorality.

Yet, unlike a mircochip implant, everyone actually desires to have one. As well as being central to daily business operations and allowing us to keep in contact with family members, they have also become a fashion statement, with the use of older models often being met by sneers and derision - which brings us back to Jesus' condemnation of the ever more elaborate phylacteries worn by the self-aggrandising Jewish leaders in the 1st century. They have become a "catch-all" device, with in-built functions including internet gateway, gaming, camera, video recorder, and calculator. And this level of covetousness is even before they become central to engaging in commerce. The strong inclinations that will undoubtedly prevail in favour of keeping these devices means that a large number of people will already be programmed to automatically reject the idea that the cell phone could be the ultimate fulfilment of the prophecy of the mark of the Beast. They truly are a temptation worthy of the wiles of the Devil.

This whole conversation reminded me of something, especially the question JMC asked about darkened spirits attacking those with mental illness issues.

There is something about a "spirit of infirmity" that's been mentioned before. I've seen it in some spiritual warfare texts, and I seem to remember it being mentioned in a litany as well, and it's specifically mentioned in Luke 13:11-13. The DRB translation states it pretty plainly:

"And behold there was a woman, who had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years: and she was bowed together, neither could she look upwards at all. Whom when Jesus saw, he called her unto him, and said to her: Woman, thou art delivered from thy infirmity. And he laid his hands upon her, and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God."

So here, a demonic spirit causes physical infirmity. Who's to say that such a spirit couldn't also cause, or exacerbate, a psych infirmity as well. In such a case, you're right JMC, it would be possible for someone to avoid a visit to an exorcist simply because they don't recognize the influence.

This clearly doesn't apply to all mental illness, but such influence might apply to a hefty percentage.

In my early 40s I actually went to my parish priest to ask about the possibility of an exorcism because of so many unexplainable (to me at least) things going on, I even had this name in my head of a demon who I somehow felt was tormenting me, and has been my whole life, with his daughter (can demons even have daughters???). But my priest (nicely) brushed me off, because of my mental illness. And even in considering looking into Benedictine Oblation, I was filled with a flood of doubts, and when I got past those, two nights ago, and I don't know if it was a hallucination or what, but I got up to use the washroom and was pushed from behind, and flung, feet off the ground, across my living room, landing on the edge of an end-table. I thought for sure I was being burglarised, my dog absolutely flipping out, and I was writhing in pain on the ground until my endorphins kicked in... but there was no one there, and I was filled with incredible fear, something I always struggle with more than anything else, fear, fear and more fear, even shying away from God at times because I know what will happen if I take a step toward Him I'm ashamed to write.

Yesterday though I had a *crazy* day, finding out one of my circle of best friends since high school had a stroke that morning, and an elderly uncle was in the same hospital on his death bed after taking an unexpected turn and getting really sick really quickly, I wrapped my ribs up tight and drove in to see both of them, really wanting, too, to bless them with water from Lourdes I have a bit left of and pray the prayer that goes along with it, besides of course just visiting them. What happened to make it painful to breathe let along drive that way, etc., I wasn't going to let it stop me, no way.

And while I got to spend time with my uncle in his room alone, with my friend, it was extremely intimidating to ask to be able to do that for my friend, because it was a crowded room of friends and family, some of whom are born-again Evangelicals that don't like any weirdo Catholic stuff, and the rest all hard-core atheists, but I mustered the courage to do it anyways (after the one Catholic there besides me, an extremely boisterous and completely unintimidated fella from Italy pretty much insisted I be let to), and I figured a chance that it could help him was worth a bit of public humiliation.

After that I found the chapel, and when praying the Rosary, an African woman came in very upset, and she took out her rosary and held it up, so we prayed it together, me in English and her in whichever language she spoke, and it was pretty, like, it was so wonderful, it made me realize how we Catholics truly are such a universal church, that I can pray together with someone where we don't even speak the same language. When I left the hospital a woman outside named Michelle just stopped me at random to strike up a conversation, and it turns out she was Catholic, prayed over me after asking politely. A strange, but pleasantly strange interaction.

Later last night I was at a big house party, a get together another mutual friend planned last minute since so many old friends were together. At around 10 I was ready to head home, my side really throbbing hard, laughing being pretty painful, I thought it was time to leave. A woman there named Stefani followed me out to my car, and she was really cute, so I was thinking, here comes an awkward conversation because she knew I'm divorced (I didn't really talk to her at the party, but she kept looking at me), but probably that I'm off the market pending my annulment stuff at least, but that wasn't it at all. Stefani is a born-again Pentecostal Christian, a fallen away Catholic, but she said she felt compelled to come outside and talk to me. She said she saw "the spirit of Death" hovering over me all night, and didn't mean to freak me out (she assumed I was an atheist because of the crowd I was in), and asked/told me, "This spirit of Death has been following you your whole life, and has been tormenting you starting when you were 7, I'm correct right?".

I told her I didn't know what she meant, so she told me to just use my heart, not my head, and forget about my arm, that was just a stage-trick of Satan to pull me right down back into the mud after Jesus lifting me out with her praying for me just about an hour before, and I did, and I closed my eyes, and she read the Psalm in small chucks, and I repeated the words after her, and I understood what she meant, and I prayed the Psalm, not just reciting it as if I was reading it at Mass. And by the time we were done, my arm was completely back to normal. I tried to pour heaps of thank you's on her, but she wouldn't have any of it, she said she didn't do anything, that I need to pour thank you's on the Lord, which I did. She said she skipped the big feast that was made for the party because she saw this spirit of Death hovering over me as the kind that Jesus said can only be defeated by prayer & fasting, too.

Waking up today, I'm not sure what to make out of all of this, but I feel great, and I have my peace back again even with these health crises my friends are having, and my daughter who is in town for the first time since last Summer totally blowing me off, that it's her birthday and she won't even take 10 minutes to drop by to pick up the blessed candle and St. Benedict medal to nail over her front door that I got for her, none of that's bothering me that way it usually would. I would love nothing more than to get a real, full prayer of exorcism from a trained exorcists, but that just isn't an option, I get written off as a looney just asking for one. Bridget, JMC, Mark, thank you for your prayers. I don't know if someone praying for someone else needs to know, but the name of the demon who I felt when I went to my parish priest to inquire about an exorcism, that name that came to me while praying to get rid of it once and for all was "Zazeille", and again, it's daughter (though knowing demons are fallen angels, how could a purely spiritual creature has a child, makes no sense to me, but that is what I felt God revealed in my heart about 13 years ago I guess it was now).

Jason R. said...

So again, mental illness, or something else, but I'm trying to find a rational explanation for what this strange woman Michelle asked me outside the hospital, what Stefani told me, what happened with me arm (when I went back upstairs with Stefani with my arm totally back to normal, people were stunned into silence. Stefani warned me not to even bother showing anything like this difficult to explain incident with my arm, because it is beyond understanding, even to us as Christians if the Lord doesn't want us to understand, and people that don't believe will always find explanations for anything no matter how unexplainable the phenomenon is by rational means). If anyone has any advice how I possibly could get a more formal exorcism performed (Stefani emphasized over and over again that she didn't see this entity in me, that she didn't think I was possessed, but that it has been more following me around and trying to scare me away from getting closer to God) even with my history of mental illness, I sure would be open to any ideas. What I had been tossing back and forth as to what may just be manifestations of my mental illness, yesterday blew the doors off the barn so to speak, making it harder to deny that something very real but very sinister has been lurking.

I feel very sure I am completely lucid and not manic or depressed in any way right now (even when I am delusional, I usually either know it, or am open to other's opinions because I know I need that kind of help, but I feel so 100% that this isn't either of those things), and I had witness(es) to that last night, too, not just with the lone believer in that crowded house, but what everyone no matter what they believe saw happen with my arm).

Jason R. said...

One of my posts didn't go through again, so part of what happened last night I seemed to skip over (sorry). When I was driving back home from the city, I felt a weird tingling up and down my arm, and rolled my jacket sleeve up, and was horrified at what I witnessed. In front of my eyes, on my left arm which I used to use to shoot up with mainly, brand new fresh track marks just appeared. I was so shaken I pulled over, and just stared at my arm, thinking I was having a hallucination, but I shortly pulled around and headed back to my friend's place. My whole body was shaking, and this wasn't very wise, but I showed my arm to the party-thrower, another former Catholic who became an atheist after his mother got his with MS, and everyone was gathered round and puzzled at this (I wasn't hallucinating, they confirmed what I was seeing as they all saw it, too).

One person said it might just be old scars reappearing because of a change in body temperature, another (an MD from S. Africa) told a story of needing to get a shaman in to convince a man he wasn't ill because he got all these sicknesses after having put a curse put on him, as a testament to the power of the mind to cause real illness if people believe in something strongly enough. Another atheist brought up the stigmata, that people's bodies have the power to get the wounds of Jesus' Crucifixion purely by the power of their own belief that they have it, that the brain is that powerful. A few friends just said, Jason, you've had a rough day and your nerves are just frazzled, not wanting to address what was right in front of their eyes on my left arm. No one wanted to even entertain that it was something other than a highly unusual, but somehow ultimately rationally explained phenomenon, but I'm sure no one is going to forget last night for a long time. This woman I'd just met Stefani, pulled me away from everyone into a room in the other part of the house, and she got my focus off my arm and my terror, because this was like "The Exorcist"-like phenomenon, and told me not to be distracted by Satan trying his very best to terrify me, because she said fear is the snare he leaves, explaining that's why in the Gospels Jesus tells us over and over again not to be afraid. I kept wanting to go back to my arm, and she said it doesn't matter whether it was natural, preternatural, that it was totally irrelevant other than it was the enemy trying to scare me to take my focus off Our Lord again. She found a bible in my buddy's bookshelves (it was in his study), and flipped right away to a passage from Psalms (I can't remember what it said or which one it was I was so very scared), and she asked me to pray it. I started to read it aloud, but she stopped me, and said, "No, don't just read it, pray it.".

Jason R. said...

p.s. Being a writer, I often pour my heart out on paper even if I don't share it with anyone, and Stefani said, no, don't do that, write whatever I want, but don't pour out my feelings on paper or to anyone else, because demons can't read my mind or heart, but they can read words on paper even, and they'll use that as ammunition to hit people in their weakest spots. Does anyone who knows more about stuff like this that I do comment on that, whether what she said is true? Can demons essentially read what I write in my journal, and use it against me? I'd never heard of this before, but it did seem to feel like it was true, everything she told me last night... and can demons physically hurt you, like, throw your whole body across a room, causing injury? I'd have thought that God wouldn't allow a demonic presence to actually injure me, but does that happen? Does that mean I am possessed, or could I just be being tormented from outside myself and not be possessed? I have so many questions but not sure where I can find answers, or if I should just take Stefani's advice and ignore stuff like this, and focus on prayer instead of trying to figure out what is real or not?

hi Jason
just came from a healing service held every 2nd Saturday of month after vigil Mass; totally agree with what Stephanie is telling you!!! listen and BE STILL!! I realize Fr Malachy Martin (yes he received formal acceptance of his renunicaton of vows--to the society of Jess (Jesuits) NOT from the PriesthooD! where he continues to offer Mass daily + Liturgy re Demons it is chilling but real=he wrote an almost journalistic account of exorcisms and in the course of five (?) cases goes into what Steph is very accuratly stating.. re specifically Stephaine telling you NOT to lay yourself bare and why this is SO TRUE----also as you have admitted /confessed before you have a nariccis/ vanity streak so ...paraphrasing or shifting metaphors but Biblical quote "only by prayer and fasting" prayer being communication means sometimes that is LISTENING for God/Holy Spirit to speak/nudge/hid whatevr but requires SILENCE---fasting includs not just from what goes in but also from what comes OUT~ stay close to Stephanie and far away from that type of party! God bless

p.s. Ah, I found the Psalm I prayed that helped me so, so much last night, it is Psalm 139.

Mark W said...

Hey Jason,

The demonic forces can get physical. Malachi Martin, before he died, said that he was pushed off a stool by a demon. There are a lot of things seen as poltergeists and usually associated with ghosts, that may actually be demonic spirits instead.

And one fascinating thing in your story today - I have a book with a prayer specific for Breaking a Spirit of Death. It's one of the more forceful ones in the book. So yes, that sort of thing exists as well.

The forces of darkness can read your thoughts and your heart and your mind, but only if God specifically allows it. This is actually true of angels as well. Their intellect is supernatural but not omniscient. But they can see anything in the physical world, unless God prohibits it. There are specific binding prayers that asks that God make the darkened sprits deaf, dumb and blind.

So yes, what she said makes a great deal of sense.

And Brian is right. God is not always in the fire, and the wind, and the earthquake, so much as in the still small voice.

There are people that can read souls and the spirits that attach themselves to people. But there are also people on the dark side that can read souls as well. I bumped into someone that saw holy people as darkened spirits once. So they see things in the opposite light, but they can still see things.

Jason R. said...

Thanks Brian sound advice as always... I am going to try to have a talking/typing/writing fast and just read the word of God as much as I can this month, and nothing else (Stefani told me was that if I feel spiritually confused, I should run, don't walk, to read Scripture until that confusion goes away, because lies and truth can't co-exist in the same heart, they repel each other like oil and water or light or dark).

But as far as staying away from these friends that are dedicated atheists, it's tough because these are all my lifelong friends, and mostly fallen away Catholics, and I figure if I (and a very few others) aren't there to inject our faith in Jesus into those conversations, then who on Earth ever will? Absolutely no one, and what will that mean for the chances those friend will have?

It's as easy as heck to preach to the choir, and a helluva lot scarier to bear witness to the truth, like I did blessing my friend with water from Lourdes yesterday, to a room full of scoffers, or anti-Catholic bigots, and unbelievers, etc. We all know who Jesus hung out with and talked to, right? So I have to respectfully disagree with you on that one point Brian, and no one in that group are drug users, or anything else really vexatious to the spirit, they just have lost their faith, and I hope and pray a lot of them will still find it, and I give little nudges in the right direction I hope at the right times. One of my friends who is the proudest & loudest of Our Lord out of the whole bunch is a recovering alcoholic who found his way back to Christ through Our Lord's efforts through me, so I just can't accept that I should only hang out with the choir, that isn't what the Great Commission calls us to do, not at all.

After Mass tonight I asked Fr. Jake if we have something like a healing service I could attend, and he said there is a special Mass for the anointing of the sick with a travelling priest with a gift of healing of the Holy Spirit on May 24th, so I have it marked bold on my calendar, I've never attended one before so maybe this is the answer I've been looking for. Anyways, I'm unplugging my modem and putting my cell phone away until June, thanks again for the prayers and the answer, and have a good rest of May!

Yes, the demons can assault us physically. Aside from Malachi Martin, St. John Vianney was frequently actually beaten by demons. So here you are, seriously thinking about joining a Third Order, and what happens? A demon attacks you shoving you across the room. That's my take on it.
.
If you know the St. Michael prayer, I recommend it and a Hail Mary whenever you feel you might be under attack. As far as blinding demons, check out Auxilium Christianorum online. They give a series of prayers to be said daily; primarily they're for background support for exorcists, but they can also be used to pray for yourself and other members. Some of the prayers are in Latin as well as English.

Jason, sorry I was away on holiday, and have only just seen your posts about some sort of demonic vexation you are experiencing. Knowing the name of the demon gives you some power over it. Given the details you have provided, it sounds very much like "Zazeille", is actually Azazel - who is one of the Watchers described in the book of Enoch. Azazel and the Watchers were said to have copulated with human women and bore children, so this would explain your conviction that the demon had a daughter. Below is an extract from Wikipedia on Azazel:

Emmett O'Regan said...

According to the Book of Enoch, which brings Azazel into connection with the Biblical story of the fall of the angels, located on Mount Hermon, a gathering-place of demons of old,[12] Azazel is one of the leaders of the rebellious Watchers in the time preceding the Flood; he taught men the art of warfare, of making swords, knives, shields, and coats of mail, and taught women the art of deception by ornamenting the body, dyeing the hair, and painting the face and the eyebrows, and also revealed to the people the secrets of witchcraft and corrupted their manners, leading them into wickedness and impurity until at last he was, at Yahweh's command, bound hand and foot by the archangel Raphael and chained to the rough and jagged rocks of [Ha] Dudael (= Beth Ḥadudo), where he is to abide in utter darkness until the great Day of Judgment, when he will be cast into the fire to be consumed forever.[13]
The whole earth has been corrupted through the works that were taught by Azazel: to him ascribe all sin.
— Book of Enoch 10:8
According to the Book of Enoch (a book of the Apocrypha), Azazel (here spelled ‘ăzā’zyēl) was one of the chief Grigori, a group of fallen angels who married women. This same story (without any mention of Azazel) is told in the book of Genesis 6:2–4: "That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose. […] There were giants in the earth in those days; and also afterward, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bore children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown." Enoch portrays Azazel as responsible for teaching people to make weapons and cosmetics, for which he was cast out of heaven. The Book of Enoch 8:1–3a reads, "And Azazel taught men to make swords and knives and shields and breastplates; and made known to them the metals [of the earth] and the art of working them; and bracelets and ornaments; and the use of antimony and the beautifying of the eyelids; and all kinds of costly stones and all colouring tinctures. And there arose much godlessness, and they committed fornication, and they were led astray and became corrupt in all their ways." The corruption brought on by Azazel and the Grigori degrades the human race, and the four archangels (Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, and Uriel) “saw much blood being shed upon the earth and all lawlessness being wrought upon the earth […] The souls of men [made] their suit, saying, "Bring our cause before the Most High; […] Thou seest what Azazel hath done, who hath taught all unrighteousness on earth and revealed the eternal secrets which were in heaven, which men were striving to learn." God sees the sin brought about by Azazel and has Raphael “bind Azazel hand and foot and cast him into the darkness: and make an opening in the desert – which is in Dudael – and cast him therein. And place upon him rough and jagged rocks, and cover him with darkness, and let him abide there forever, and cover his face that he may not see light.” Azazel's fate is foretold near the end of Enoch 2:8, where God says, “On the day of the great judgement he shall be cast into the fire.

If you are speaking with a spiritual director, make sure to mention that name of the demon was revealed to you, and that you think it might be connected with Azazel.

Thank you to everyone for enduring my novella-length rants, I was in such a state, but thsts no excuse for being so immoderate, I know that, though I'm also still very grateful.

And Emmett, I don't know how to thank you... the information you provided has helped me make even more sense of all this, and, yes, as soon as I saw the name you wrote, I am so sure that is it; would this, I don't even want to type that name, though I shouldn't have any fear for Our Lord is holding me in His hand, but would this Watcher in any say be connected to a "spirit of Death" in some way as well?

Also, and this is a very embarrassing question, but, if a beautiful woman, like, a person's ideal as far as physical beauty and sexual attraction, if the same one comes to you in your dreams, and absolutely real dreams, not awake, but somehow you know you are dreaming, and you know also somehow they are very evil, but you can't seem resist this incredibly strong, well, lust, and you have them have sex with them in your dream, is that a sin?

Could that dream be possibly more than a dream? I'm embarrassed to admit this, but since very shortly after my separation, I've been, well, frustrated in that particular way, I've had these recurring dreams with a red-headed green-eyed gorgeous woman in them that I've painted, sketched, wrote poems about, etc. for decades, kind of just my ideal of physical beauty.

I've been not really worrying about it being unusual at my psych nurse and psychiatrist's advice, but what you've confirmed Emnlmett about some demons had real actual daughters... I've been just chalking them up to nocturnal emmission-related dreams, and been in a way weirdly delighted that this imaginary woman, who I've called "my muse" for many, many years, because of the inspiration for art this dream girl has provided fuel for, that I actually have had her in a dream and having "sex" that feels infinitely better in physicality than I've ever even come close to feeling in real life.

It has been strange for sure that I know that I'm dreaming, as well as how very, this is so embarrassing to write of, but so very gratifying it is, though the second I finish, she shrieks and turns into a shadow that I feel repellant of where just moments before I am so attracted to, and seems to move back at a tremendous speed like she is escaping me.

I first started having these imaginings of this dream woman when I was 24, and really had my heart broken for the first time. I started a large sketch (that I late sold for $600 when I was really broke, and I have such an attachment to it, and not only the months of work I put into it, because I can only paint and sketch really well when I am manic, so with my medications that talent goes away... it is a temptation sometimes to stop taking my anti-psychotic medication because of how well I write or draw or play music when I am having a full-manic episode) that was meant to be of my daughter's mother, but try as I might, it took on a life of it's own, and I ended up drawing what I could see at least of some of the features of my "perfect woman". There is a poor quality scan of a photo of the original here, which if I could track down somehow again who owns it, I would pay just about anything to have back again:

http://www.mediafire.com/view/aj5wcx28932ws67/muse.jpg/file

My head is swimming a bit right now, am I just being narcissistic again thinking something special or preternatural is connected to this dream woman, and maybe I have been feeling guilty for a reason. I sometimes get so lost in thinking of her, I go back to a short story of mine about meeting her in my mind if not re-reading the story for the upteenth time, that the thought of lust for an imaginary person make it very hard to concentrate on anything else, like I just can't get her out of my head, like when you have a strong crush on someone. Even as I type this I feel that burning sensation through my torso and flushing my face just thinking about the next time I might be able to have dream-sex with her, though I somehow know it isn't right, I have that consciousness in my dream. I'm afraid I sound crazy yet again, but I've shared everything else so I guess why stop now.

Any love poems I've had published have been about her, the stuff that is of the best quality in writing, or artwork, or music, they have all been about or inspired by her, for I guess now 25 years, so I have this strange fear that if I let go, I will have no talent left, and my creative outlet that I rely on so much for just expression will be gone. But what you wrote Emmett gave me shivers, and I never made a connection between this possible demon and his daughter tormenting me most of my life, especially after I was sexually assaulted as a boy it seemed by that United Church minister, and "my muse", and I don't know if I'm stretching to make connection that aren't there, but after reading what you quoted, I'm getting a sense that they are intimately connected and that I may have been something terribly wrong these past 3 years in these sex-dreams I've had.

Jason R. said...

Here is a short poem and part of a sketch I did many years ago, too, that shows what I mean of this image haunting me of sailing straight into the rocks and death, but not being able to stop it with her calling for me to come have sex with her, and I can't bring myself to stop myself even though I know I will die before ever having the chance:

http://www.mediafire.com/view/tgby2xg8qo4j9m1/siren.jpg/file

I feel strange right now, like nauseated thinking about her, rather than inspired as I usually would. If that Watcher had a daughter, could they, could they even possibly get a foothold over something so seemingly innocent as a muse, as in a source of inspiration, but one for so long that I've become more obsessed with an imaginary person that I ever have been with anyone flesh and blood?

I am so embarrassed right now, I feel like I've shared my most special but also dirtiest secret right now, and I just look more and more crazy to anyone reading this. When I've been so depressed that I am suicidal, I feel like my longing for this woman, it has kept me going, just knowing I will eventually meet her in my dreams again, but now everything feels flipped and inverted and maybe that longing is what was prolonging my depression in some way.

Mark W. has written me offline (sorry Mark that I haven't gotten back to you!! I have the funeral tomorrow, and now also a last minute favour for my NA sponsor's band, they need a rhythm guitarist for a back-yard gig on Monday and I know their whole set, so I promised I would fill-in, but I'm taking all you wrote to heart very seriously, and some of the coincidences (?) you've pointed out. I think for spiritual directors, the ones my archdiocese has (and I don't want to get stuck with a female Anglican priest which I might if I go through them, I want someone small "o" orthodox and of course who shares my faith completely and is Catholic, plus the $40 to $50 dollars for every hour they charge is well beyond my financial means anyways), I am taking a different route I really think Our Lord and Our Lady are pointing me towards.

My aunt has very much encouraged me to visit the Benedictine Abbey, and ever since I got a St. Benedict medal again (I always end up giving them away to people I get a sense need them) that I wear always with my great-grandfather's cruiciform (he was a Jesuit priest who had my grandmother out of wedlock with my teenage great-grandmother, our family secret), I never take them off except in the shower or when I go to bed, I've been feeling a real pull toward visiting the Abbey. She told me not to worry if I can't afford it, that they would be happy for me to stay with them for a couple of weeks, maybe as soon as this June, if I can find somewhere to kennel my puppy, that one of their charisms is hospitality, so they would welcome me. I think becoming involved with an aim to become a Benedictine Oblate as Mark is may be more helpful to me than any individual spiritual director that's available, and it wouldn't put me in the poor house either,

Jason R. said...

Before I forget, please if you could pray for me on the day of Sancta Maria Auxilium Christianorum, May 24th. I'm praying a miracle may happen for me that day. I won't get into more than I need to, but I have a special connection to Loreto (I stayed at Loreto Abbey in Toronto in my 20s, the sisters there were very nice to me when I was having my first mental health issues emerge, and my mom was a postulate there before she was kicked out, not for anything bad, but for, well, strange events happening with her), and Mark gave me a good reason for prayer on this day, and just by happenstance when I checked with my parish about if we have anything like charismatic healing, there is a healing Mass with an anointing of the sick with chrism on that very day as well, and the priest who travels my priest told me he has a gift of healing from the Holy Spirit.

I have never thought of an anointing of the sick because my illnesses are organic, as I mean born with them, or from serious injuries (like, my spine is like puzzle pieces from deterioration and bone spurs have natural grown, it is the only thing allowing me to walk or stand or sit up, but they are pressing into the nerve roots and there is no surgery, nothing can help),but I never considered it for spiritual healing... and I'm not in denial about having bipolar disorder or anything, but events of the last week have had me wondering if there isn't a spiritual element at play. All the strange things I could chalk up to having delusions and hallucinations, but there is no explanation for all those injection marks appearing and disappearing from my arm, and there were a whole room full of people, and what Stefani prayed for me about... I can't ignore what I haven't wanted to admit anymore.

And I understand that I'm not evil just because evil has been after me. Stefani told me when I was almost having a nervous breakdown I think because I feel like I must be an evil person though I don't like to think of myself that way, though I admittedly once was very evil in my lifestyle, that even Jesus was tormented by evil spirits, and even His famous temptation by Satan offering Him temporal control of the world during His 40 days, and of course God isn't evil! It struck me, and this renewal and everything in my life began with Lent, and my praying more seriously, attending Mass and adoration when I've been able, fasting for the first time in my life and how so much clearer things can get when you are so hungry other temptation just seem to fade away. I feel like I've been delivered already, but Stefani warned me they will be back, but maybe, just maybe on May 24th, maybe all this can finally turn around. I am praying for a miracle for real, and would appreciate so much as many prayers as I can get petitioning Our Lord on my behalf that day, the great victory of Our Lady at the Battle of Lepanto, that Mary Help of Christians, and be anointed with chrism, and prayed over by a priest with a gift of the Holy Spirit, my vow inside my heart to discern third orders with the Benedictines, that all of this is somehow coming to a head, and this insanity may be at it's end. Too many things have seemed to line up to believe that it is all mere coincidence, it is almost too unlikely, like the chance of being stuck by lightening.

Jason, I see two possibilities here. This is either something your own subconscious is producing and tormenting you with for some reason, or you're being vexed by a succubus. Given all your other vexations, I tend to think the latter. Emmett or anyone else with knowledge in these areas, what's your take on it?
.
I'm adding deliverance prayers to my prayers for you. Try getting some holy water; keep a small bottle of it at home and bless yourself with it frequently. You can get it at any church; any usher can show you where the dispenser is if it isn't immediately visible.

Jason R. said...

My psychiatrist gave me a very good explanation for it, that this dream woman represented my ideal, and that I had felt such feelings of hurt and betrayal around my marriage and how and why it ended, that my subconscious was telling me through these dreams that even with the most perfect of partners, I was still harbouring a terror that I would end up getting very hurt again, and the guilty feelings were just repressed sexual energy (and that without having any sexual activity, having nocturnal emissions like I was a teenager again was to be expected).

It makes sense for sure, but with what Emmett wrote it just occurred to me that there could be more going on than just my psychiatrist's explanation, and I've been feeling guilty for sure about it even though it was in a dream, which seemed pretty innocuous. I just read the Wikipedia article on succubus and this line really jolted me: "Religious traditions hold that repeated sexual activity with a succubus may result in the deterioration of health or mental state, or even death."

I'm a little worried now, but I'm still confident if this is a real thing (is this something the Church ever taught as being a real thing??) that this healing Mass that I'm going to will be an answer. I'd even go for Penance about this, but my parish priest already thinks I'm bonkers, so I don't know how I'd even begin to broach this subject!

I bless every room on my main floor and myself usually every Friday with holy water, but haven't lately so I'll start. It's probably just in my head, but I put just a tiny drop of water from Lourdes on my tongue and my fears subsided remembering that fear is the snare and distraction from the devil away from prayer. I just found out something I'm taking as a good sign, or a worthy thing to go to anyways. The last time I was really depressed, so much so I was struggling with suicidal ideation, I prayed to St. Pio for the only time really ever, and I made it through that episode, maybe with his intercession. His reliquary is at the cathedral where I sometimes go for Sunday evening Mass if I missed my other chances on June 1st all day, so I'm definitely going there as a sort of thank you, as soon as I read that in our bulletin I felt a sense of relief. Thanks Bridget! Now that I know what these dreams of mine might be, I will definitely not be doing what I have been doing in them!

Be careful not to read too much into the extent of demonic activity with your mental health condition, Jason. There is always the temptation to overplay that side of things. I would argue that very often there is an area of overlap between mental illness and demonic activity, but this is most certainly not always the case. It can also be very unhealthy to focus on the extent of the involvement of preternatural activity in any given mental health condition, and you need to heed the advice of the professionals involved in your care. If you could find a good priest who specialises in psychiatry and also doesn't discount preternatural activity, it would be very beneficial. Quite often the priests involved in spiritual retreat centres will specialise in this area. Both prayer and the help of modern psychiatry are key to your healing process and/or the management of your condition.

Jason R. said...

Thanks for the words of caution Emmett. Whatever the source, I think I need to just ignore it, and keep my eyes fixed on Our Lord, and pray instead of fretting.

Jason, I've been looking up about Azazel, and found something very uncanny. According to the Peshitta (the Syriac version of the Bible - which is Aramaic written in cursive script), Azazel is rendered Za-za-e'il (the strong one against/of God), as in Qumran fragment 4Q180. This is actually much closer to your rendering of the name of the entity which is causing you some sort of vexation - "Zazeille". I find it highly unlikely that you would have known this, even subconsciously. I think it would be a good idea to consult about this with your diocesan exorcist. You should mention this to your parish priest.

Jason R. said...

I did already with my parish priest, and he was great in letting me know that sometimes we feel evil even when we aren't, etc., but didn't take me seriously. I'm hoping to bring it up when I go to stay sometimes this summer at the Benedictine Abbey, that maybe someone there I can talk to that won't brush me off because of my mental illness. And I agree, the odds that I would be given this name after spending a lot of time in prayer before I "heard" it in my heart, and with what you've researched, it seems the odds of it being a sheer coincidence are just too astronomical, especially with what you wrote, too, that these Watchers had children (and I assume daughters as well as sons). I have such a good feeling about the healing Mass, and I'm going to spend the entire day on June 1st with Padre Pio's relics, too, that maybe that will be enough to get rid of whatever is bothering me if it's more than just some sort of mental health episode or other. Thanks again for all the information, it makes me feel a lot less crazy!

Just in case anyone is wondering, my issue was completely taken care of, and I've never felt such joy in my life just in stark comparison. Thanks to all who were praying for me and giving me fantastic advice (Mark W.), and most especially for Padre Pio's intercession. I had two people very close to me praying for his aid that I wasn't aware of... very looking forward to venerating his relics as a huge thank you this Saturday at our cathedral. If you ever experience something like I gave, ask for his aid, it really and truly is efficacious. I feel that very deeply.

Emmett,

We're coming on half a year since your last post, c'mon man. I know people are busy, and life is hectic, but you wrote that last post, IIRC, within days of Patriarch Kirill's remarks. There must be something going on these days.

You know what would be fantastic? If you would go through all your old posts/predictions etc. and see how they stack up to today and write little synopsis/summaries about it all.

For example, I remember 2017 being huge...Jupiter "giving birth" and all that. We were all anxious and waiting but it seemed like nothing happened. Of course, 100 years from now we might look back and go "whoa, that's when it all changed".

Just a thought but I really hope you can keep blogging regularly.

JMC said...

Well, for one thing, I think 2017 was about when the current abuse crisis began cracking, though it didn't burst wide open until the middle of 2018. So, yeah, this is where the change began, you're right about that. This is the cleansing that the Church must go through. It's wide open now that AA1023 is a TRUE STORY, and that "Michael" and others like him are the reason we have such a mess at the moment. It won't happen overnight; it's going to be a slow, painful process...and it's going to get a lot worse before it gets better. Remember, not until it looks like evil has won, will we see the triumph of the Immaculate Heart.

Emmett O'Regan said...

Anon88, I'm writing a blog post summarising my thoughts right now at the moment. Hopefully I can get it posted in the next few days. I don't intend to stop blogging. Just thought I needed a while off to collect myself and take stock. Also I'm working more at promoting my material here on the ground, which also takes up a lot of time. I'm also preparing for university as well. I intend to show how the year 2017 played out more or less exactly how I thought it would - with the world being brought to the brink of nuclear war before being spared. This corresponds with the threat of the angel with the flaming sword being extinguished by the rays of light issuing from the hands of Our Lady, which also in turn parallels the threat of the destruction of Nineveh being spared due to the repentance of its inhabitants. This is exactly what was described in the Third Secret.

Five Reasons to Add Josephus to Your Summer Reading List

The Jewish War is Josephus’ personal account of the Roman siege and destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD and is indispensable to anyone interested in the New Testament. Once started, it is very hard to put down.

Josephus had been the general in charge of protecting the Galilee from the Roman legions who were on the march. After his capture by Vespasian, who was not yet emperor, he defected to the Roman side and tried to negotiate with the Jews of Jerusalem on its behalf.

His real name was Joseph Matthew but changed it to Flavius Josephus when he was granted Roman citizenship. Flavius was the family name of his patrons, Emperors Vespasian and Titus.

The first reason to read it is that it sheds light on the nature of “mob rule” in 1st-century Palestine. Jesus was the victim of a mob a week after he was hailed a king by one. In Josephus mobs are everywhere and are the source of much of the instability in the region.

The second reason is that you will learn about the incredible intensity with which the Jews believed that religion was a matter of life and death. This was in stark contrast to ............the................................

Thanks for bringing up Facebook's new cryptocurrency Libra Chris... Americans especially should be concerned; if this cracks the USD as the world's reserve currency, and you know Facebook will go full out to make Libra as successful as popular, the damage to the US economy from the drop in value of the USD would be devastating, with run away inflation not seen in a major country since interwar Germany.

This has the real potential to become ghd world's most used currency and for sure another step toward a cashless one-word currency that would be necessary for the Beast economic system shutting out Christians (though a lot more still has to happen before then of course).

CHRISLAM UPDATE: Pope Francis Calls For Major Theological Reforms In Catholic Schools In Order To Promote ‘Common Mission’ With Islam And Muslims
The Pope is pushing for Catholic students to be taught the lie that normative Islam is a religion of peace and so, it follows that anyone who disagrees with this lie would be deemed “intolerant”, opposed to dialogue and pluralism. It is Islam that is intolerant, supremacist and resistant to diversity. If the Pope is genuine about dialogue, then he should be mutually calling for Islamic States and Islamic schools (beginning with Al Azhar University in Cairo) to establish and preach equal status to all disbelievers, for women, gays etc., and promote dialogues with unbelievers like Christians, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists etc.

On December 8th, 1983, Pope John Paul II wrote to all the bishops of the world, asking them to join in with him on March 25, 1984, in consecrating the world to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. He included with his letter his prepared text of consecration. On March 25, 1984, the Pope, making the consecration before the statue of Our Lady of Fatima, departed from his prepared text to add the words highlighted above and translated below. As you can see they were reported in L'Osservatore Romano. The words he added at this point indicate clearly, that the Pope knew then that the consecration of the world done that day did not fulfill the requests of Our Lady of Fatima. After performing the consecration of the world proper, a few paragraphs above, the Pope added the highlighted words which translate: “Enlighten especially the peoples of which You Yourself are awaiting our consecration and confiding.” This clearly shows he knows Our Lady is awaiting the Pope and bishops to consecrate certain peoples to Her, that is the peoples of Russia. Reproduction of the March 26, 1984 issue of L'Osservatore Romano, with translation, enlarged, of Pope John Paul II's words. Opponents of the Consecration of Russia have, conveniently, from 1984 until this day, omitted to report that the Pope actually said, in effect, that he had not done the Consecration of Russia as requested by Our Lady of Fatima.

March 26, 1984 - The Pope’s own newspaper, L’Osservatore Romano, reports the words set forth above, exactly as the Holy Father spoke them.

Chris: Thank you for posting that. I've pointed that incident out a number of times in discussions regarding whether or not the consecration of Russia occurred that day. The late Fr. Amorth often referenced it himself; he was standing right next to the Pope, and, in the middle of his remarks after the prayer, heard him asking the Cardinals standing close to him, "Can I say Russia?" and he was told no, not even in those remarks. I have always believed he was trying to do it, and was very likely under some sort of threat if he dared to mention Russia at any point that day.

Whoever would deal with it in an irresponsible manner by misrepresenting it through disinformation, not only performs an immense disservice to humanity whose survival depends upon the fulfillment of Our Lady's requests, but what is even worse, displays a lack of seriousness and respect towards the Mother of God Herself. 99942 Apophis

99942 Apophis is a near-Earth asteroid. It was initially observed in December 2004. It will come scarily close to Earth on Friday, April 13, 2029.

Initial observations indicated a small probability (up to 2.7%) that Apophis would strike the Earth in 2029. Later the cumulative impact probability (for the 2029 Earth encounter) was reduced to be around 0.004%.

NASA initially estimated the energy that Apophis would have released if it struck Earth as the equivalent of 1480 megatons of TNT. Later it was revised down to 880 megatons, then revised to 510 megatons. For comparison, the Tunguska event is estimated to be in the 3–10 megaton range.
April 13, 2029 and beyond

On April 13, 2029, asteroid 99942 Apophis will pass Earth 23,000 miles (37,000 km) above the ground. For comparison, geosynchronous satellites orbit is at 22,300 miles (36,000 km).

Apophis is probably going to return back to Earth in 2036. Its likely collision with Earth may occur on April 13, 2036. At this time the ability to calculate the Apophis's orbit is blurred out by the 2029 Earth encounter................

Given the seriousness of the contents…

The Holy Father was asked, "What about the Third Secret of Fatima? Should it not have already been published by 1960?"

Pope John Paul II replied: "Given the seriousness of the contents, my predecessors in the Petrine office diplomatically preferred to postpone publication so as not to encourage the world power of Communism to make certain moves.

"On the other hand, it should be sufficient for all Christians to know this: if there is a message in which it is written that the oceans will flood whole areas of the earth, and that from one moment to the next millions of people will perish, truly the publication of such a message is no longer something to be so much desired."

The visionary Ivan responds with the words of the Gospa: “When the physical changes take place in the world you will understand”During the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the apparitions of Medjugorje, the visionary Ivan takes stock of the situation and explains that we will have to be ready for the physical changes in the world.

The speech of Ivan Dragicevic for the 30th anniversary of the apparitions is clearly focused on the message that Our Lady has shared with the world through the visionaries and wonders if in these 30 years something has really changed in the perception of the message from the world and if this change is enough to prepare us for the period of change announced by the Queen of Peace: “These apparitions of Our Lady are a crossroads for humanity, a new call, a new way, a new future for humanity. But how much are we aware of the messages? Are they coming to our heart? Do we live with them? “.

Hi everyone! Happy 4th to Emmett’s American readers!

If that really is the time of the closing of the abyss, that will truly be a day to celebrate...though, of course, we probably won't be aware of that closing for some time afterward, since I expect the end of Satan's power will be a kind of ripple effect, unless it's tied to the Triumph, in which case we will see the clearly miraculous conversion of Russia, followed by other nations. I think that will be the beginning of the Second Pentecost, if I've understood Emmett's postings correctly.

The Mark of the Beast - if it was a new invention, the vast majority of the population would realise what it is and reject it. But if it is to be injected into society in such a way that people would accept it … then we get an obvious answer …
The Beast that is wounded by the sword and yet lives: is electronics, as we're facing a world war before the anti-Christ, and EMP's will cripple electronics, further destroying the global financial system. With that - the Mark of the Beast becomes obvious: mobile phones which have 'credit cards' attached, as the entire financial system becomes completely 'electronic', and centrally controlled to give the 'currency' 'value'.
You can neither buy nor sell without them, and they can 'speak', even identify people who are not worshipping the Beast, afterall, aren't smart phones already being used to 'snoop'? … if the technology pre-existed - and used together 'before' who's going to say - look it's the Mark of the Beast?, instead it's a crazy conspiracy theory!
Note one of the most important aspect of electronic shopping is the Barcode - have you ever looked at one and wondered what the 3 pairs of longer lines represent - well it's 666!
It's already happening - and who's screaming to prevent it?
When's the last time you used cash for your transactions compared to the easy - swipe and wander-off … I prefer to use cash for nearly everything except large bills: car insurance & road tax, and Utilities.
